The Joy Whisperer podcast, radio, and TV show is dedicated to exploring the science and practice of what it means to live a life of joy though the good, the bad, and the beauty of life.
The black male joy movement is alive and well! They are frolicking, vacationing, building bonds with friends, and leaning into their fatherhood with a level of vulnerability and emotional intelligence that may have been frowned upon in previous generations. In this episode Dr. Pamela Larde unpacks some of the challenges that black men face in our society and how they are simultaneously and wholeheartedly embracing joy. Included in the conversation is a panel of three black men who seamlessly integrate joy into their personal and professional lives. The panelists are: John Robinson, Jr. of Joy+, Lawrence Henderson of Boss Consulting, and Jamal Washington of The Joy Gym. Also featured is counselor, Tahir Cowans, who offers a perspective on how black men are rising above adversity.
In this episode, Dr. Pamela challenges us to embrace a life of well-being. It's all about thinking, eating, and aging differently in ways that lead to an abundant life.
We have the potential to build a multitude of joyful communities for various aspects in life. Today we will explore not only what it means to mindfully build and purpose them, but also how to do it.
There are so many different expectations for our experiences at work than there ever before. We're going to talk about some of them and what it takes to actually create a joyful experience in the workplace.
In this episode of The Joy Whisperer we are going to be looking at the idea of JOMO or the joy of missing out. JOMO can actually have the ability to nurture our joy without having that fear of missing out or FOMO.
In this episode of The Joy Whisperer we dive into the shadows. While we’ve typically sought to avoid them in the past, they are the key. When we are willing to dive into pieces of us that we don’t recognize or even want to acknowledge, we unlock a door that reveals to us how to dispel some of those negative shadows. Often overlooked though are the positive ones we gain access to that can ignite an enhancement of quality and power in our lives.
In this episode of The Joy Whisperer we discuss the challenges in trusting the process of uncoerced change. Often times we attempt to reform ourselves or others into something we simply are not rather than daring to pursue our best authentic selves. Be prepared to dive into this episode with a full potential to question everything you know about change and how it's concievably impactful to our joy.
When people think of joy, it’s not atypical for it to be solely associated with sheer positivity, but there is in fact a darker side to joy that doesn’t get quite as much attention. This episode covers that dark side. We’ll talk about both the positive and negative aspects of joy and its roots when it comes from a place of well being and when it comes from a more toxic origin, like resentment, jealousy, or fear.
Racism is a system. Declaring racism as a public health crisis matters. It’s the first step to advancing diversity, racial equality, and racial justice. Being a part of and witnessing George Floyd's “I Can’t Breathe Movement” has shown many Americans how monumental solidarity can be in the face of racism. This week, I’m shining a light on this public health crisis with the impact that racism has on our communities.
The science consistently points to safety as a basic human need. On this episode of The Joy Whisper, I go over the essentials of safety and how we may react when that safety is threatened - at work, at home, and in our intimate relationships.
Sometimes we fail to realize that "Power" is more than the influence one might have over another or a successful television series, But true power is transformative and lies within each and every one of us. Join Dr. Pamela as she explores the ways to activate this phenomenal gift that lives inside us all, and how you can become the "Superhero" in your life's movie!
Joy is ours! You have to claim it. On our latest show, I discussed joy in the face of pain. There are so many ways to express joy and we took a deep dive into three fundamental truths that allows us to experience joy through moments of distress.
Creating boundaries comes with a cost, but who's to say it all isn't worth it? Healthy boundaries are essential for self-care because you can be left depleted or taken for granted without them.
We’re taught to read, write and speak with manners by saying please or thank you but, often times many of us aren’t taught one major thing that can change our outlook on life, self-love. On todays, I will be discussing the four levels of self-love
Life after heartbreak can be challenging for many. Whether you’ve experienced immense happiness, sadness, or a whirlwind of emotions, know that you are not alone. I’ll be discussing life after heartbreak. You heard that right; I’m opening up and giving you the real on how I’ve gotten to the place of being joyfully single. I decided to choose hope over fear and live in a state of joy.

About today's guest:
LaTasha has spent most of her adult life striving to reach her goals. Although she conceived four children out of wedlock, she did not let that hinder her from becoming the successful person that she is today. She conceived two of her children during high school but she was determined to graduate and further her education. The world, family and friends constantly told her how she would never be successful and have anything in life. Some people wanted to see her fall and hit rock bottom but LaTasha has always been a goal getter.
LaTasha enrolled herself in Augusta Technical College where she obtained a certification in Business Office Administration and later received a diploma in Business Office Technology. LaTasha was goal hungry and determined to further her education. In 2010, she pursued her Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management and Master Degree in Business Administration in 2012 from University of Phoenix, Augusta, Georgia.
In 2015, LaTasha became a published author with Tandem Light Press. Her first book It’s Behind Her Smile was released in August, 2016.

Today, Dr. Pamela is joined by owner of Peezy Headz and Daisy’s Garden, the company behind the yummy lemon butter cream, Daisy Mack. As always, Dr. Pamela has some trending topics to discuss, research to dish, and of course, her weekly Love Your Life Challenge.
There was a time, not too long ago when President Barack Obama was elected - that it was declared that we live in a post-racial society. A post-racial society – after 200 years of slavery. After Jim Crow. After the Civil Rights Movement. After the war on drugs in the 80s. After Rodney King. And these are just the assaults against the black community. Latinos, Asians, Arabs, and whites can produce a list of their own if we want to have a fully robust conversation about discrimination and implicit bias. Trauma, for any period of time requires healing. This nation has yet to heal – and we have learned in recent years – primarly because of the election of Barack Obama – that we are far from being a post-racial society. In fact, this era seems to mark the reemergence racial issues that the most obilivious among us were convinced no longer exists. Well, ladies and gentlemen, it does still very much exist, and much of it is fueled by our implicit biases and unintentional harm. This is what today's show will be tackling.
On this episode, Dr. Pamela is joined by two passionate psychologists who share an interested in the concept of implicit bias in both children and adults. Dr. Bentley Gibson, also known as The Bias Adjuster. And Dr. Jillian Whatley, founder of Lissie’s Voice – and organization designed to support the empowerment of parents. We’ll be discussing imposter syndrome, internalized oppression, and psychological blind spots.
Self-discipline. It is one of those things that so many of us desperately struggle with. It takes discipline to change our lives, to grow to new heights, to be the best version of ourselves possible. Life transformation is a physical, mental, and spiritual process- a process that today’s guests know all too well. While following a passion for pushing themselves to their greatest capacities through competitive sports including triathlons and bodybuilding, they have learned invaluable lessons about themselves and life's possibilities. Today, we'll discuss the limitless possibilities of the body, mind, and spirit.
On this episode, Dr. Pamela is joined by a fierce competitor who share the secrets to their own self-discipline and life transformation: Dr. Shaunna Payne-Gold, educator at the University of Maryland and founder of SHEro Atholetics. They’ll discuss body transformation, exercise addiction, self-discipline, and how exercise impacts our sex lives.
Domestic violence is an epidemic that impacts all of us in some way, shape or from. We may have been desensitized to it because of overexposure on TV, turned our heads from it when we saw it on the face of a co-worker, dealt with the aftermath of it through the behavior of the children in our classrooms, or endured it directly within the walls of our own homes. Demographically, no one is immune to it – women, men, young, old, rich, poor, conservative, liberal, highly educated, or not educated at all. Even if domestic violence is not a part of your household, you can be sure that it is for someone you know and love, someone you work with, or someone in your neighborhood. We all need to be aware and we can all play a part in putting an end to the abuse in someone’s life.
Dr. Pamela is joined by two fighters, advocates, and experts on domestic violence who share their stories and shed light on this important issue: Ms. Jenn Doe, trainer for the Colorado Organization for Victim Assistance and Ms. Paula Foster, author and founder of Fostering Hearts Foundation. They'll be discussing post-partum depression, Stockholm Syndrome, violence against men, and so much more.

Do we all have a purpose? Or is purpose an abstract concept that only applies to some of us? You might be surprised to know that there is a whole school of thought that asserts that human beings have no real purpose in the universe. Oh yes, we’ll be talking about that, too.
Once we overcome one dark period – even after enlightenment, success, bright flowy clothes, and bliss – we may be faced with another dark period, and another, and other. Guess what? After triumph, there is always another journey waiting for you, another person who needs you, and another lesson to be learned. We are constantly challenged to defend and uphold that purpose we’ve been given – to raise strong children, to inspire the brokenhearted, to serve as life-changing medical professionals, to be the voices of those rarely heard, whatever that is for you. So how do we stay the course? We stay the course by focusing on purpose.
Joining the show today is Dr. Chantrise Holliman, teacher and author of Teach, Stay, Love. She has experienced life challenges that have brought her face to face with purpose and is here to share what she's learned and what she is still learning today.
