What does God really feel about our rebellion and sin? We hear so much about God’s love but shutter at the idea of God’s anger; are they mutually exclusive? How can God both love and hate?

One of our unnamed children was obsessed with fairness. If we did something she considered unjust, we would regularly hear, “That’s not fair”. It often came out when something happened and no one would confess or tell on each other so we would administer justice to all of them. It usually involved some form of group activity like having to pick up dog mess in the yard or not getting to watch TV or a loss of a reward like ice cream. The concept of fairness is one we all desire.

Peace, Shalom in Hebrew, was what was destroyed at the Garden of Eden. Why can’t we all get along? Sin. When will we find peace? When we find Jesus and allow Him to rule in our hearts. We are called to be instruments of peace in a corrupt and violent world.
