All Night with the Living Geeks is a monthly podcast in which we explore examples of high strangeness and the weird world around us: UFOs, cryptids, ghosts, and other mysteries! Join our hosts Taylor, Seb, and John as they navigate the Phenomenon and discuss the bizarre! New episodes drop at the start of each month.
Our fellow humans, Disclosure is Imminent!!At least, that's what people have been saying for...well, for far longer than anyone has really realized! This month, we take a look at some of the more humorous and bizarre instances of people claiming that Disclosure is just around the bend. Oddly, history (especially with respect to Disclosure) has been very very bendy!
This month on Phenomena City Limits...Sure! We could talk about Mothman and Bigfoot and, um, Sheep...squatch. But you've had a dozen other podcasts cover these guys. They get the limelight and all the attention and the slightly in appropriate bumper stickers on Etsy.But what about the Counter-Culture Cryptids? All the wild bugged-out-eyed crazies and tongue-waggin' weird-ohs with a penchant for drag racing? Well, this month PCL gives them their time in the spotlight!! Did it all start with Rat Fink, as so many believe? Or does the history of these wacky characters go back even further?
No joke, friends! The April edition of Phenomena City Limits is here!! This month, Seb leads us on an interesting look at both tropical and sidereal astrology! He also shares what got him on this path and then we do a double-blind taste test between Pep...wait, no...that was something else. We do a double-blind test to see which astrology chart (tropical or sidereal) we identify with most!
After a slight delay, episode two of Phenomena City Limits is here! This month, Seb takes the helm and leads us down an interesting path as he investigates The Orion Cube! Whether it's a bit of disinformation popping up across multiple stories or a piece of actual alien tech, the tale of the Orion Cube is definitely a wild ride!
Friends, welcome to Season 1, Episode 1 of Phenomena City Limits! Yes, we're back with an all new look and feel...new music, same great hosts, and a fantastically creepy topic for our first trip out!In February of 1993, Gary Sudbrink was visiting his family on Long Island, NY when he received four very strange calls over the course of two nights. Was it just someone goofing around or was this truly a case of high strangeness in a family that has a greater connection to the UFO phenomena than we previously realized?
Well, folks, it's a new year and we're getting ready to shed our original skin and come back next month as Phenomena City Limits! But before we do all that, we're going to wrap up our year by getting to all those advertisements we never make you sit through. Just kidding, we'll never have commercials. But we have seen many very strange and laughable ads in our last year of grabbing stories from newsletters and magazines. So let's take a look at some of the strangest ones this month!
Happy start of December, weirdos! We're here with our penultimate episode (before a rebranding change in Feb 2024!) and two great stories as we get ready to conclude our year of pulling stories "from the pages" of old and obscure newsletters.First up, Taylor talks about The John Reeves Incident from Florida in 1965 in which an alien-maybe-robot leaves some writing behind and then things get strange.Then Seb discusses a story in which a Tennessee photographer heads to the "great American southwest" and seemingly photographs a caveman where there definitely wasn't one before!And friends, we hope you have a great holiday season, whichever holidays you celebrate, and a fantastic rest of 2023!
Happy November, everyone! Your boys are back with an all new episode taking about two rather unusual cases. First up, Seb talks about a local story (just over in Lodi, CA) involving the mystery airships from the late 1800s! And while some aspects of it are particularly fantastical, there's a bit of reality grounding everything. Then Taylor lends his automotive expertise to a Belgian encounter from the 1970s! Plus we continue our march toward our rebranding coming very early next year!
Friends, we promise you that this is not a foot fetish episode. However, both our stories this month deal with small-to-tiny creatures and the unusual footprints they leave being. Taylor shares a story from Coldwater, Kansas in 1954 that (in some ways) shares elements with Tom Dawson's experience from last month. And Seb talks about the bizarre experience of a North Carolina man who witnesses a creature about the size of a Coke bottle!
Happy September, everyone! Fall is fast approaching here in the Northern Hemisphere (happy Spring to all of you down under!) and with it the spooky season approaches! But this month we have two truly bizarre cases of high strangeness. Seb talks about Whose Line is it Anyway? No, not the improv comedy show...literal lines hanging from something somewhere up above a town in New Jersey! Then Taylor goes back to the newsletter that gave us Sam the Sandown Clown to look into a UFO encounter in Georgia in 1977 that might have actually been the Fae. And those Fae may have captured Jimmy Hoffa.
It's August and a brand new episode is here to grace your ears with some weird! This month we share some exciting news for early 2024, Seb tells tale of the possible timeslip from 1964 back to Custer's Last Stand! And Taylor finally finds a Bigfoot story...but thinks there's a far higher strangeness at work with the case! Get ready for "Custer's Last Wormhole" and "Bigfoot Hit My Car!"
July is here and we are in the midst of a heatwave here at All Night with the Living Geeks HQ! So it's time to grab a cool drink, set the fans to high, and settle in for an episode at the beach! Well, half of it's at the beach. We start with the story of Sidney Padrick, TV repairman from Watsonville, CA, who late one night has an encounter with Ziena down at his local beach. And then we head to the UK where Seb has a fascinating story of a train wreck that was foretold, but not even British Rail's efforts to renumber the engine could avoid fate! And the for dessert, Seb's Descent into the Archive has cookies!
June is here and with it, we have two more strange cases from the pages of old UFO magazines and newsletters! This month, Seb talks about an unusual case of abnormal grow rates on the island of Martinique! Could there be a race of giants hiding out near the Pelee Mountain. And Taylor brings us the case of an alleged UFO that was tracked from New York to Nevada and apparently crashed with a flash large enough to be seen from six states! It's a really odd tale with no clear resolution. So hop on board the weird train and let's get into it!
May is here and, with it, another strange pair of cases for our team at All Night with the Living Geeks to investigate. This month we look at The Bairnsdale Pole...the bizarre sighting of a pole-shaped creature in Bairnsdale, Victoria Australia on the morning of the Moon Landing...and The Bearer of Bad News...a case of a UFO taking over control of a car in upstate New York, dragging it through a field, and then telling the driver that an acquaintance had died in a truck accident. And he actually had! Why don't we all get our news via UFO encounters?
Well, no foolin'! We're dropping our April episode a day early just to ensure you don't think we're messing around. This month Seb brings us the fascinating story of a UFO that punches through a billboard (see the actual picture in our episode art!) and Taylor brings us the strange tale of Snippy the Horse! Was he killed by a UFO? Honestly, Snippy's life he's much stranger after his death!
As our season From the Pages continues, we look at two unusual cases. First up is The Green Lady of Wahiawa! A tale from Hawaii in the late 1950s...you can find poor retellings of it on the web today, but Taylor thinks this might be the origin point for this legend. Seb talks about a pretty famous UFO case...Portage County, Ohio in 1966...but he does a deep dive on one aspect of the case that tends to get left out of modern retellings of the incident.

Each month, we're going to dig into old magazines, newsletters, and journals to hopefully find obscure stories that other podcasts aren't covering! This month we have The Marshall Monster and The Apple Valley UFO. Both cases are crazy strange and we dig a little deeper to see just how much of each tale is true.

This month, we look back at Art Bell's last open lines predictions show of the 20th century. What did people figure would happen in the year 2000? Could anyone win his $100 name those songs challenge?
Standing at a commanding 14,149ft, California’s Mount Shasta towers over the surrounding towns in Siskiyou county. It’s a destination for hikers, campers, and skiers alike. However, its lenticular clouds and unusual history at the southern end of the Cascade Range make it a destination for a whole different crowd. Hippies, spiritualists, and other New-Agers flock to Mount Shasta given its weird history amongst people in those circles. This month, we’ll take a look at Shasta…some of its history, some more recent events in the area, and even some of our own experiences with the mountain.
Well, folks, we made it. Three months worth of looking at and exploring the Hellier documentary and the case surrounding it has brought us here. This month, we look at the last half of Season 2: from The Altar through Night of Pan. If things had been weird before, they ramp up even more as we get blue star-ry eyed because things keep falling in our path. We can’t properly navigate the #RoadtoHellier without taking a left at Exit 93 and looping our way into the underground. Deros, Teros, a quick pass through downtown Lemuria (be sure to check out the famous Rock Shop) to find ourselves in some serious liminal spaces. Whether Shaver was really whisked away to an underground wonderland where he became a hero and returned with a manifesto and evidence of an ancient mother language or whether it was the product of a mind wracked by grief, both possibilities cause us to wonder about the nature of liminal spaces (physical and non-physical) as well as what it means to have a paranormal experience. Buckle up and grab some road snacks because we're going deeper underground with the Shaver Mystery.
MOTHMAN! He's become the poster child for weirdness these days, but as part of our #RoadToHellier series, we take a look at the massive flap in Point Pleasant, West Virginia between 1966 and 1967. It becomes our launching point for a greater discussion of what the phenomena might be and what the purpose could be for 13 months of panicked fervor in a small town in West Virginia. Along the way, each of our brains totally melt as we try to connect dots and reason out the story of Mothman!
On the evening of November 2nd 1966, Woodrow Derenberger was driving home from his job selling stereos and repairing sewing machines when he was passed by and then stopped by a UFO. The person who stepped forth from that craft communicated telepathically and introduced himself as “Cold”. What proceeded to happen from that point forward is one of the strangest UFO flaps in the history of the phenomena. When Indrid Cold met Woody Derenberger is one of the biggest crossroads on our #RoadToHellier that we had to pull off the highway, put the van in park, and immerse ourselves in the very integral tale that kicked off the Year of the Garuda.
This month our #RoadtoHellier officially kicks off with a look at the Men in Black! These shadowy visitors have been around seemingly as long as the modern era of UFOlogy (perhaps longer, by some accounts)! But who are they? Government agents out to discredit witnesses? A secret government operating outside our own? Could they be, as Keel suggests, occupants of the UFOs themselves?! Join us this month as we explore tales of the Men in Black and being paving the way to talking about Hellier later this year!
The Loveland Frogman! Yes, folks, strange things were definitely afoot in 1955! The same year that brought us the Kelly-Hopkinsville goblins also brought us somewhat similar series of encounters in Loveland, Ohio (right next to the Little Miami River, no less). What was the Frogman? Was he really all that froggy? Why was he seen again in 1972 and during a sweet Pokemon Go sesh in 2016? We investigate all that and more this month as we discuss the Loveland Frogman!
The Future! That's right, friends, we are all interested in the future because that's where you and I are going to spend the rest of our lives! That famous line by The Amazing Criswell permeates our first episode of 2022! And what does the future hold? We're not sure, but we make some predictions and share listener predictions for the new year. We also take a close look at the 1968 book Criswell Predicts: From Now to the Year 2000! to see what he got right, got wrong, and actually got pretty close on!
Regardless of your thoughts about Bob Lazar's story of working at a secretive location inside of Area 51 (S-4), his influence on the pop culture of UFOlogy in undeniable. This month, we take a look at Bob Lazar's story because there's just enough there to make it believable and simultaneously just enough there to make it unbelievable. Seb identifies three avenues that he feels people haven't explored enough in the Lazar tale and together we at least try to find a theory that covers all the aspects of Bob Lazar!
In May of 1973, a most peculiar thing happened in Sandown on the Isle of Wight. A girl, known only to us as Fay, and a boy, whose name we never learn, met a seven foot tall creature that for all intents and purposes looked like a poorly crafted clown. He communicated in an odd syntax at times and also gave cryptic answers. Despite having an encounter approaching an hour with these two kids, Sam's never been seen again (at least not in this guise). This month, we look at the odd case of Sam the Sandown Clown, speculate on what he could have been, and even pull some insight from the Secret Ciper of the UFOnauts! Plus, you get a bonus discussion about alien nudists landing in Georgia!
October is finally here and, with it, the spookiest month of the year! Join us as we discuss one of the most haunted places in America: The Queen Mary. From her life as a luxury liner to her service in World War 2, we look at the various events and mishaps that shaped her history. We talk about the hauntings aboard, when they started, and why perhaps they're there. We even share a listener's experience with a ghost aboard the Queen Mary!
Imagine yourself in a dark room in the middle of the night. Your only source of light is the glow of the shortwave radio before you. Your headphones are filled with static as you slowly creep along the dial. Amongst the background hiss are chirps, warbles, the occasional faint staccato rhythm of morse code. And then you stumble across a female voice calmly, almost robotically, calling off a series of numbers and letters from the phonetic alphabet. Just as quickly as you catch it, the transmission ends and is replaced by an eerie piece of music or channel marker.
Aside from the creep factor for the casual listener, Numbers Stations have for decades provided a nearly uncrackable code for both military and espionage purposes. Join us this month as we dial in the weird and discuss some of our favorite numbers stations.
And a quick word of warning. If you’re listening to this episode on headphones, maybe turn us down a couple notches because some of the samples we’re going to play tonight have sudden loud bursts of noise. Consider yourselves warned.
As the legend goes, 2.5 miles under the Archuleta Mesa outside Dulce, New Mexico exists a seven-level base that is a joint operation between the US military and extraterrestrials. The legend of the Dulce Base is also something of a nexus point for various other legends that permeate modern UFOlogy: cattle mutilations, the MJ-12 documents, the whole Eisenhower agreement with the greys, battles between humans and aliens, large-scale government infrastructure connecting various alleged underground bases, breakaway civilizations, and so much more. Some of these legends may not have had their start in the late 1970s when Paul Bennewitz was contacted by Richard Doty for the first time, but Doty’s ability to manipulate Bennewitz along with the continued proliferation of ufologists sharing information before the information superhighway came along served as something of an interstate cloverleaf for both information and, unsurprisingly, disinformation that proceeded to spread through a network of people whose names are familiar to those of us studying the phenomenon today. Many things we touch on this month, we’ll have to circle back around to in the future and give many of them their own episodes. But this month, we board the elevator of mystery and punch the key for the bottom floor of the Dulce Base story!
On the evening of August 21, 1955 in the tiny town of Kelly, just above Hopkinsville in western Kentucky, the Sutton family had an encounter that would radically shape their lives and the field of ufology for generations to come. Diminutive creatures (the number varies based on who you ask) approached the small Sutton farm house. The Suttons, like many living in remote areas, were quick to defend themselves from these visitors. But what played out next defies physics in many ways and leads those of us who study this event to continue questioning the nature of the phenomenon as we try to determine exactly what happened during the Kelly-Hopkinsville incident. Goblins? Spacemen? Fairies? Ultraterrestrials? We’re still not sure. So grab your thinking cap, your .22, and maybe a tin can and let’s get into it! Plus, as we explore this encounter, Taylor stumbles across an interesting theory that may work some way toward explaining this incident. And (!!) Seb's Descent into the Archives makes a possibly new connection between our floppy-eared creatures and an experience that Jackie Gleason had in the 70s!
The story goes that on March 16th 1957, a Venusian named Valiant Thor landed on Earth and was taken to Washington DC. He met the president, vice-president, and a host of higher ups. He scored himself a three-year lease on an apartment at the Pentagon while trying to sell Eisenhower on his fairly Christian message of peace and galactic brotherhood. Sadly, Eisenhower was more worried about the American economy and rebuffed Val’s offer. But this wasn’t the last we’d hear of Val Thor. In fact, we only know about Val because of a man named Frank Stranges: a reverend-doctor-maybe-FBI-guy-maybe-conman. We’re not really sure. And when we set out to start researching this topic, Seb found possibly the stranges...t thing of all: what appeared to be a reference to Valiant Thor from 1939! Nearly a full 20 years before Stranges claims Thor first came to Earth! What unfolded was our most researched episode to date. So settle in, grab a drink, and get ready for one weird trip!
This month we talk about GHOSTS! While possibly the most subjective of all experiences with the Phenomenon, we definitely have some weird experiences while recording this episode! We take a high-level look at what ghosts could be and definitely hit on some topics we'll come back around to in greater depth in future episodes.
Nearly 50 years ago at a hunting cabin deep in the Sierra Nevada mountains, Ron Morehead and Al Berry recorded some of the most unusual and compelling vocalizations. Mere years after the Patterson-Gimlin film shocked the Bigfoot community, the Sierra Sounds (as they’re known) brought a whole new dimension to the legend of Sasquatch: the possibility of language.
While few would argue that Morehead and Berry definitely recorded something in the forests of the Sierra Nevadas in the early 1970s, many have debated what actually created the sounds. Without corroborating evidence, scientists are quick to claim they recorded bears or mountain lions. Cryptozoologists and even some linguists point to these recordings as evidence that multiple bigfoots were communicating with each other, as well as Morehead and Berry, outside a hunting cabin eight miles from civilization.
Two hours north of Las Vegas, in the high desert of what we like to call the Great American Southwest, lies a base that went unacknowledged for decades. That secrecy, combined with rumors, theories, and legends, created the myth that we know as Area 51. Whether it’s merely a CIA base that developed aircraft like the U-2 and SR-71 or whether we’re to believe the stories of Bob Lazar and others that alien technology is being reverse engineered there, Area 51 became a fixture in pop culture during the late 80s and early 90s.
In the mid-90s, filmmaker Roger Mexico and his friend Michael Brown captured a slice of UFO culture that feels almost quaint today. More than just a snapshot of believers and contactees, Alien Highway also preserves for us views of Area 51 that can no longer be accessed by the public because of government land grabs.
This month, we headed off the main road and driving up to the gates of Area 51 with a look at Alien Highway and a look back at UFO culture in the 90s.
