The 5 time world champ and freshly crowned 104 time GP race winner Jeffrey Herlings had a lot to say regarding the state of safety in the MXGP World Championship, and he’s a little pissed to say the least. Yesterday Herlings spoke with a Dutch media outlet Omroep Brabant (pronounced OOM ROOP Bra bant) which translates to Broadcasting Brabant and he expressed his concerns about safety, citing some pretty sketchy incidents from this year.Some of those incidents being 1: In Portugal the finish line jump was over a tunnel and off the side of the jump there wasn't anything preventing you from falling 30 feet onto the concrete walkway. 2: Henry Jacobi getting dragged off track while knocked out with multiple broken teeth in his mouth. 3: Pauls Jonass breaking his shoulder and the ontrack doctor not scanning it, insisting it was dislocated and trying to put his broken shoulder in place. At the second round of the Canadian MX Triple Crown Series at Lethbridge MX in Alberta, Canada, reigning 450cc Champion Dylan Wright had a scary crash in the second moto. Wright started 1-2 for second overall at the season opener and entered round two tied in points with KTM’s Jess Pettis, who went 2-1 for the overall win at the opener. At the second round, Wright claimed the moto win in the first race of the day then had a scary crash at high speed in the second race while leading. If you haven't seen his crash, here it is from a couple angles. The future of Carson Mumford has been made official after signing with Fire Power Honda, the newfound deal to commence effective immediately and span through the 2025 season. Mumford has transferred across to the Martin Davalos-led organization following a short stint at MCR Honda, and will effectively replace Max Anstie next year when he heads to Star Racing Yamaha – that move to be confirmed. Fire Power Honda has spring-boarded a mixture of riders to success since entering US competition under the ownership of Yarrive Konsky in 2020, with 22-year-old Mumford motivated to make a similar impact on the team’s CRF250R after claiming a best finish of fifth in San Francisco this season. For 2024, Masterpool had his eyes set on racing a Kawasaki KX450 all year long in the SMX series (which begins Saturday, January 6). At this time, there is no expected return date for Masterpool.MXGP Athlete Michele Cervellin used to be a top guy in the world championship. As recently as 2019 he was a top 10 guy and in the years before that he was even a top 5 competitor back when he was on Honda HRC in the MX2 class. The Italian used to be a fierce competitor on the world stage. Unfortunately in the winter of 2020/2021 after signing with JM Honda racing things went downhill fast. The WZ Racing team is excited to unveil their squad for the 2024 season, as they look forward to a big year racing on the ADAC, EMX250 and MX2 World Championship stage. Here is their line-up.Rock River Yamaha rider Grant Harlan had a huge get off back at Motocross Of Nations whilst racing the LCQ for team Guam. He ended up breaking his femur pretty bad in France stayed there a few days and flew back to the US. In todays Moto Daily Show we look at some injuries, and retirements. First off HBI Racing Kawasaki rider Caden Braswell who sustained a knee injury. The we'll look at FMX athlete Axell Hodges and his gnarly leg injury in the sand dunes. On the retirement side of things we'll look at former Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider Jalek Swoll apparently having a 9-5 job, and MXGP athlete Benoit Paturel losing his ride and most likely retiring as well. Seva Brylyakov is the 2023 Russian National champion and one of the many MXGP riders who fell victim to the unjust ruling to ban Russian visa holding or born athletes. Well I waited a couple of days for this one to heat up and get all sides of the story. If you watched this weekend's World Supercross race in Abu Dhabi then you know, the story of the race was Vince Friese. If i'm being honest, I think Vince is a very good rider and would be a crowd favorite if he would quit the over aggressive riding. Will he ever do that, probably not…Anyways, in this video were going to look at Friese’s recent interview in which he explains his side of the story, and we’ll go through all the rules vince friese broke and the appropriate action that should be taken. Lets get into it.
Well the return to racing for the World Supercross Championship was exciting for sure. We had battles, take outs and some injuries. In this video i'm going to focus on said injuries. It’s actually hard to find updates on riders as WSX seems to not share injury updates on their riders which is unusual but anyway let's get right into it.
It was a big weekend both for the sport and for Honda as this weekend Honda made their debut in the Electric dirt bike sector with Trey Canard testing out the Honda CR Electric bike in the Japanese Nationals. It was an up and down weekend for sure as they got some track time under their belts, Canard raced three moto’s and took two holeshots, he finished 2nd in the first race and unfortunately crashed in the other two causing poor results, we’ll look at that crash in a second. Honda assured us that Canard gathered important data and improved the bike in each session. Here’s some footage of Trey Canard ripping the new bike this weekend.
Over the past few years the 2023 MXGP World Champion Jorge Prado has been talking about his interest in coming to the US for some Supercross. Unfortunately in the past, the opportunity never arose due to contract stipulations he recently revealed. Prado explained in a recent interview that Red Bull Gas Gas wanted him to strictly focus on MXGP in 2023.
Well after this year's Motocross Of Nations the team's tune changed. Apparently now they are going to allow him to at least test supercross here in the United States. Whether or not he’s actually going to attend some races in 2024 is currently unknown.
But in recent days Prado has been at KTM / GasGas headquarters in California and today we got to see him riding a supercross track for the first time. Let's take a look.
Japanese sensation Jo Shimoda is set to make a triumphant return to Honda in the upcoming seasons, as he has officially inked a deal with Team Honda HRC that extends through 2024 and 2025. This significant move paves the way for Hunter Lawrence's impending shift to the premier class.
At the age of 21, Shimoda will be joining forces with Chance Hymas to ride the factory CRF250Rs in the upcoming season. Meanwhile, the Lawrence brothers, Jett and the soon-to-be-official Hunter, are poised to take the helm in the highly competitive 450 class.
Shimoda's journey with Honda in the United States began in 2017 when he joined the Factory Connection amateur program. He made the transition to the professional circuit with the Geico-backed team at the close of 2019. In 2021, following the closure of the Factory Connection team, he made a switch to the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki team. However, he has now come full circle and returned to Honda under the factory HRC banner.
Spanish native Guillem Farres is the latest and final addition to the 2024 Rockstar Energy Husqvarna 250 class lineup alongside Casey Cochran and RJ Hampshire.
Farres made his first appearance in American pro motocross last year after Star Yamaha picked him up as a fill in rider. Before that he was an EMX250 / MX2 world championship rider for a small KTM team backed by Raths Motorsports, working in a grocery store during the week.
In 2022 he had finished just outside the top 5 twice in the EMX250 championship and around the same running inside the top 10 in Lucas Oil Pro Motocross in the couple rounds he raced.
Onto 2023 and he had high expectations, in the first two rounds of pro motocross he finished 8th at Fox Raceway and 7th at Hangtown. Unfortunately his season came to a very early halt due to a bad first turn crash at round 3 in Thunder Valley.
Red bull KTM MXGP rider Jeffrey Herlings had a very up and down season, he came back after missing all of 2022 and became the winningest rider in MXGP history this year. Not too long after that he sustained a neck injury in Germany knocking him out a few rounds back in June. Here’s that crash.
Manluk Rock River Yamaha rider from the United States Grant Harlan had the opportunity to ride for team Guam at this year's Motocross Of Nations in Ernee, France. Although he wanted to take some time off after a long year, he took the opportunity to go to the prestigious event.
There were quite a few gnarly crashes at this weekend's Motocross Of Nations in Ernee, France, but I think this one takes the cake. I saw a clip of it going around yesterday but nobody knew who it was for sure.
After a deep dive I found out it was Team Finland rider Jere Haavisto. Now before I show you the clip I wanted to let you know he hasn't released a formal update after the crash, nor has the team but they did say he was alright. No injuries so that's a plus.

Sexton will debut on his #1 KTM race bike at the 2024 Supercross Championship opening Anaheim 1 in California on January 6. The Illinois native will switch to #4 for the AMA Pro Motocross Championship, as he selected the single digit number as his new career number.
About a month ago Colt Nichols was announced as the final signed rider for Liqui Moly Beta for the 2024 season and a few months ago Benny Bloss signed with them. Since then they haven't been able to ride the 450 machine. They have been testing a 300 two stroke which is odd in my opinion.
After a few weeks of just riding the two strokes, I finally asked Benny in the comments of his post when he’ll ride the 450 and he said not until October. Well here we are in October and we finally get to see them on the 450 Beta machine.

Jett Lawrence’s decision to let Ken Roczen by in Moto 2 of the Chicagoland SMX playoff has certainly received its fair share of criticism from racers, media, and the community but now the AMA has stepped in and given their official take on this.
They released a penalty report that included Jett but claimed it was just a warning and he wouldn't be penalized in any way. While a written warning won't have an impact on the results from Chicagoland, it does shine light on the stance AMA Pro Racing has on situations like this.
The Supermotocross points leader and dominant round 1 winner Chase Sexton had a rough one in Chicagoland this weekend. He was off pace all day and visibly struggling with the bike. We figured he’d struggle a bit there as he struggled with bike setup for motocross all year which Chicago was mostly motocross like.
Red Bull KTM factory MX2 athlete Liam Everts has had one heck of a year. So far he’s racked up a few wins and many podiums and up until this past weekend was a contender for the 2023 MX2 title.
Coming into the MXGP Of Italy in Maggiora Park Everts had one goal in mind. Do good enough to push the points battle to the final round by keeping the points gap under 60 points (new points rule for qualifying). In moto 1 Everts was successful, placing 4th just one position behind points leader Andrea Adamo. At this point all it would take for Adamo to wrap up the title early was disaster for Everts… WHich is exactly what happened.
The rumors have been swirling around the pits for months now regarding Joey Savatgy’s plans for 2024 and it looks like we finally got a confirmation last night. It has been rumored for a while now that Savatgy may sign with the new Triumph team (believed to be called Monster Energy Triumph) or maybe he would sign an extension with Rick Ware Racing and do Supercross and SMX next year.
Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Cooper Webb was plagued with stomach issues in Chicago, limiting his performance in what was a ‘rough day’ on his way to seventh overall for 450SMX playoff two.
What a rollercoaster of a weekend for this SuperMini privateer athlete. Canyon Richards attended this weekend's Chicago SMX race for the SuperMini race and was doing pretty well. Im gonna be honest this is the first time ive heard his name because i completely mute all amateur / loretta’s / mini news or racing.
