Maine is the latest state to push for enacting a "Shield Law", allowing minor children from other states to come to Maine for "gender affirming care" and abortions, protecting the providers who are treating these children. In the episode you'll learn about Maine's bill LD 227 and how you can take action to oppose this bill and stand for protecting children. We're also watching a similar bill in Hawaii, HB 2079 that would legally allow for children to be kidnapped and protected under this emergency clause so long as they were seeking "gender affirming care."

Last week Pittsburgh School District voted to fund $50,000 of antiracist math workshops for teachers. The company the district is contracted with has a primary goal of...decolonization.

Sad news over the weekend: Friends actor, Matthew Perry died at age 54. This hit me hard as I am a huge Friends fan and have had a lot of laughs thanks to Matthew Perry. I've been relentlessly fighting against SB 5599 in WA since it dropped on January 27th. This one was personal for me. This bill allows children to go to host homes or youth shelters without even notifying parents - they already don't get to consent. After rescuing my own daughter from a Seattle shelter 2 years ago, this one was my hill to die on. It passed the legislature and will be signed into law, but I will never stop fighting.

Last week Washington state took the next step in passing SB 5599, one of the most egregious bills yet. But we didn't get here overnight and this law just piggybacks on existing laws that most parents are unaware of. States all around the country are seeing similar laws being passed, that seek to alienate children from loving parents.

They came for our children, and we've seen an uprising of mama bears nationwide. The GOP has seen a huge shift in momentum over the last couple of weeks leading up to the election. A new poll from the Wall Street Journal revealed that suburban women are shifting their support from democrat to republican in this election due to the economy. There is no other way to describe it. Last night's debate between Dr. Mehmet Oz and John Fetterman for the Pennsylvania Senate seat was a complete trainwreck. Fetterman suffered a stroke in May and many have been very vocal about the concerns of his fitness to serve as a US Senator. Schools across the country are implementing "gender inclusive" guidelines for staff that instruct staff to keep gender identity changes in students secret from parents. A family in Massachusetts is fighting back.

B.F., who is 11, wrote in a February 28, 2021, email to school staff listing the pronouns they preferred, according to the legal filing.
“I am genderqueer. … My new name will be R**** … If you deadname me or use any pronouns I am uncomfortable with I will politely tell you … A list of pronouns you can use are: she/her he/him they/them fae/faerae/aer ve/ver xe/xem ze/zir. … Please only use the ones I have listed and not the other ones. I do not like them,” B.F. wrote, the parents said in court papers.
Marie-Claire Foley, B.F’s guidance counselor, replied to B.F. and the other school staff on the email exchange: “R* [B] is still in the process of telling his parents and is requesting that school staff refer to him as B*** and use she/her pronouns with her parents and in written emails/letters home,” the parents charge.
“The term groomer is being used a lot today,” Beckwith told The Post. “Imagine what goes through any parent’s mind when you have some other adult talking to your kid about sexuality — and saying we’re going to hide this conversation from your parents.”

"Since 2009, sadness and hopelessness have increased for every race; for straight teens and gay teens; for teens who say they’ve never had sex and for those who say they’ve had sex with males and/or females; for students in each year of high school; and for teens in all 50 states and the District of Columbia."
Social Media Use: Why would social media affect teenage mental health in this way? One explanation is that teenagers (and teenage girls in particular) are uniquely sensitive to the judgment of friends, teachers, and the digital crowd. As I’ve written, social media seems to hijack this keen peer sensitivity and drive obsessive thinking about body image and popularity. The problem isn’t just that social media fuels anxiety but also that—as we’ll see—it makes it harder for today’s young people to cope with the pressures of growing up.
“It’s well established that what protects teens from stress is close social relationships,” Steinberg said. “When kids can’t go to school to see their friends and peers and mentors, that social isolation could lead to sadness and depression, particularly for those predisposed to feeling sad or depressed.”
