KidCast is an Irish show created by kids, for kids. Each episode is co-hosted by a different child every other Friday. We hear from voices around the country interviewing guests, reporting child friendly news, teaching fun facts and above all providing a fun and entertaining podcast experience for kids. It’s the final episode of KidCast School Tour and following on from last week’s ‘Media One’, M. Dáibhíd’s 5th Class at Gaelscoil Átha Í take a closer look at areas of the media that affect tweens the most- social media and advertising. This week KidCast School Tour is off to 6th class at Rathoe NS in Co. Carlow. Their teacher Ms. Kealy is the organiser of ‘Wellbeing Week’- a week per term for staff and students to celebrate themselves and their wellbeing, and these students have a wealth of information and tips to share with our listeners!
Ceire floats to studio on a hot air balloon with 12 year old Molly Rose, setting the tone for this week’s wellness episode. We learn how pets are good for our health, why Finland is happiest country in the world, Pádraig from The Paudcast stops by, as well as the Relax Kids and Jaime from You Tube’s Cosmic Kids!

It’s an ocean adventure with Naoise this week exploring the sea, its sea creatures and some unusual ocean happenings! We head to the home of sushi to Emma in Tokyo, Underwater Reporter Sophie visits Sea Life in Bray and ‘Row Hard or Go Home’ rowing team’s Gearóid chats about their record-breaking journey.
Love sport? You’re in the right place! This episode sees Mr. Nolan’s 6th class at Mary Mother of Hope SNS bring the listener into the thick of the action! There’s trivia, jokes, a riddle and a special guest interview! Stick around until the final whistle where the answers to the riddle will be revealed!
Sports mad Vincent joins Céire to teach her a thing or two about the world of sport! He is helped by a Kerry GAA team, a young Scots girl and a familiar face who is off to the world cup! Plus Women’s Rugby Giant Fiona Coghlan, and Céire is glad she is not in the hot seat for Tilly’s Sports Game - how will you do?!
Is there no end to the talents of Múinteoir O’ Cearnaigh’s Rang a Sé at Gaeilscoil na Lochanna?! In this week’s episode we hear their rap, song, interviews with Rang a Dó and a snippet from their rewriting of Irish legend Diarmuid agus Gráinne! KidCast School Tour heads to Scoil Diarmada, Castledermot. Alex introduces us to Mr. Murphy’s 6th class who have been busy making a robot for ESB Science Blast. Fin, Ciara and sassy Sophia tell us about their VEX IQ, Ms. McKenna and Ms. Harris are interrogated by Evan and we hear some funny robot jokes.
We’re ‘Back with the Future’ of KidCast, that is Series 2! Hosts Céire and Caoimhe hear about Albert Einstein, purple spaghetti and self inflating balloons! And Prof. Luke O’Neill pops by to tell us all about the world of immunology.
Our final episode of KidCast for series 1 and a wonderfully relaxing train ride to studio- or is it?! Ceire and Hazel (9) try to beat Cormac in Mystery Sounds, we hear about a very special granny’s paella from sisters Isabel and Clara in Spain, we visit Ruby at June Blakes garden and Pete the Vet stops on When I Grow Up.
An exhilarating jump through the skies bring Céire and Sean to a more comfortable recording location. Sean tells us how planes work, he catches up with Bebe and Astrid in Canada and we hear from young cellists Harry and Joseph. This week Céire and Rachel blast into space to bring you Episode 6 of KidCast! Her trip Around The World is thankfully a little closer as she meets up with Isaac in France. We hear some fascinating facts about bees and Irish Times Best Actress Aoibheann McCann fills us in on her life on stage and screen.
It’s a dark and damp trek to studio this week as Céire and Noah crawl through a cave. Noah tells us about stalagmites and stalactites (can you remember which is which?!), he chats to Erik in Sweden and is challenged by Robyn in a game of mystery sounds. Author Sarah Gilmartin sits down with Noah to chat about their love of books.
This week Céire and Clodagh (10) gallop to studio on Bob and Jeff! And their animal chat isn’t just about horses, we find out what a ‘stumpy’ and a ‘rumpy’ are! The pupils at Temple Street Hospital School bring us some interesting food facts on this weeks ‘Did You Know’ and animator Sean gives Clodagh a few tips on how to follow in his footsteps.
Céire and Xander (10) loop the loop by rollercoaster to studio to bring you Episode 3 of KidCast! We learn all about the stars, chat to Naas natives Robert and Anna who are now living in Portland, America and Xander picks the brains of Dr. Niamh.
Fia Walsh (8) co-hosts this weeks episode of KidCast with Céire and shares her love of swimming, books and dogs! In fact her she swaps dog stories with Taoiseach Micheal Martin! And the students at Dramarama in Cork have some quirky dog facts for us and we hear Siobhan’s ‘Brilliant Books’ review.
