One of the many benefits I have to taking my son to school every day with me is we get to talk about things pretty much every day. And one of the things I do is I always like to ask him questions to see where he's at what he's thinking, what's going through his mind. So I wanted to bring Carter in today, because everybody keeps telling me they love seeing him in the videos. So here he is, I thought I'd make the more important piece of the video today. So but hey, what's one of the questions that I asked you in the mornings before school? Are you ready to have a good day? Are you ready to have a good day? It's a really simple question. But let me tell you about it. The reason I asked that question is I'm trying to get Carter in a positive mind frame and a positive mindset for the day. Because think about it. It's a real simple question. You ready to have a good day? Let's flip it for a minute to see how the negative could be and how awkward that kind of feels. If I said, Hey, are you ready to have a bad day? How do you think that make you feel? Exactly. Nothing's happened in the day. Nothing's even occurred. But just the question itself, the question the things, the thoughts that we're thinking that we're asking ourselves, set us up for the rest of the day, and nothing's even happened yet. If I asked, Are you ready to go have a bad day? I'm going to be looking and expecting bad things to happen all day. But when I asked the question, are you ready to have a good day? You're looking and expecting for good things to happen. So here's my question for you. Are you ready to have a good day?

Thanksgiving is just a couple of days away, and I wanted to take a moment to bring you a word of encouragement and blessing. We can get caught up and all the fun and exciting things we have going on all of our events and dinners and parties, we've got this thing to be at that thing to prepare for, we have to prepare X, Y, and Z meet with so and so we have all these things going on. And it might surprise you to realize you can go the entire Thanksgiving holiday and not sit down and be thankful. So this morning, what I want you to do is take a moment, take a moment and think of one or two things that you're thankful for just the first things that come to mind. It could be something as simple as the sunshine that's out today, or the job that you're heading to the family that you're going to go see. Take those things and bring them before your father. Tell your Heavenly Father, thank you for allowing me to enjoy these blessings. Thank you for allowing me to know these people. Thank you for allowing me to have these things in my life. I hope that you all enjoy a happy and a safe Thanksgiving. Be safe on your travels. And just remember it The holidays are not about everything being picture perfect. It's not about everything going exactly as planned. It's about being together. It's about fellowshipping about loving one another, sharing with one another, enjoying each other and being thankful for all of the wonderful blessings that our Heavenly Father has given us. Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

You were made on purpose for a purpose. There's no such thing as a person who is a mistake. People make mistakes. But we are not mistakes. In Psalm 139. David proclaims this about God. He says that for you formed my inward parts, you knitted me together in my mother's womb. Every single one of us was handmade by God. We were made intentionally. We were made specifically, and we were made intimately by our Creator, as bearers of his image. You need to remember that he knit us together, each one of us in our mother's womb, that's how well that he knows you. So you always need to remember that God loves you, that He created you, he saved you, and He made you his masterpiece in Christ Jesus, whenever you believed in Jesus as your Savior. So never forget that no matter what you're dealing with in life, remember, okay, God has made you on purpose for a purpose.

One of the greatest ways that you can encourage yourself and stir up your faith is to remember all the things that God has done. And not just the things that are in the Bible. Those are great things to remember and think about. But also remember all the many wonderful things that God has done for you, in your own life. Recently, a situation came up that troubled me pretty deeply. But because of the things that God had already done, in my life, and in the life of my family, I also had great comfort that God was going to take care of us and see through these things. While we were at a conference this past week, I heard one of the speakers say that faith isn't just believing in the things that God will do in the future, but also believing in the things that God has done in the past. And I thought, wow, that is such a great thing. So often we're thinking about faith in terms of what God promises to do and what he will do. And that's that's a wonderful thought to think. But it's also important for us to remember and believe all the things that God has already done. God's been a miracle working God since the beginning of time. He's worked so many miracles and done so many good things in the lives of his people. And in your life. He's done so many wonderful things. How could you not trust him? How could you not believe that he's going to continue to do good things for you. So whenever you're going through a hard time or a challenging time, or a discouraging time, I encourage you to remember all of the wonderful things that God has done for you and in your life already. Remember those things, dwell on those things, and worship Him. Let that encourage you and stir up your faith.

I love this time of year when the weather changes from Summer heat to Autumn cool: the morning air becomes crisp with a slight chill, the days feel lighter, trees change their shades, and everything seems to feel refreshing. This change of the seasons reminds me that almost everything in life is seasonal – few things last forever.
The wise King Solomon wrote,
“For everything there is a season, and
a time for every matter under heaven:
a time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
a time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
a time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
a time to seek, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
a time to tear, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
a time to love, and a time to hate;
a time for war, and a time for peace.”
(Ecclesiastes 3:1-8, ESV)
This text teaches us that situations in life will ebb and flow. They rise and fall. They come and go.
Who remembers Blockbuster video? (or any video rental stores) As a child, going to the Video Store (49-n-More in Whitehouse, TX) was one of the most exciting things! I remember how my parents would choose a movie, me and my brother would choose a movie, and if we were lucky we also got to rent a video game for our Nintendo! Those were such fun memories…. But my kids will never know that feeling… Why? Because the world has changed and Video Rental Stores like Blockbuster are a thing of the past.
Nowadays, we rent everything on Amazon, Netflix, HBO, or any number of streaming services and the movies are instantly delivered to our TVs. Not only is it more convenient, but we never have to rewind a video cassette again! (or worry about a late fee)
Things change because everything is seasonal. Companies rise and fall, new technology replaces older, and we all move forward into different stages of life. Such change is inevitable; it has been ordained by God.
And what should we do with all of these changes and seasons? I suggest that we take some time for introspection to truly see where we are in life:
- What season are you in?
- How long will you be in this season?
- What comes after this season?
- How is the world changing around you?
- How are you responding to all of these things?
We don’t know exactly what lies ahead, but we do know that time never moves backwards. The past is gone, today is only here for a moment, and the future is waiting.
I encourage you all to spend time with God this week and reflect on the various seasons and times you are in. Every season and time in your life has a purpose; nothing is ever wasted because God uses all things for our good and His glory. He is always at work in our lives. (Remember: some seasons in life are extremely difficult, but our Comforter, the Holy Spirit, is with us at all times)
If you are going through a difficult season, I pray that He comforts and strengthens you,
If you are going through a good time, I pray that you deeply enjoy His blessings,
If you are not sure what lies ahead, I pray that He encourages your heart and faith.
Things change, but our God remains the same.
He is the Great I AM, and we are His.

When was the last time you walked away from a conversation with someone and felt completely uplifted and invigorated? I can think of a few conversations recently where the encouraging words of a person seemed to change me and the entire environment of the room!
● Where I had been feeling drained, I was suddenly refilled.
● Where I felt deeply discouraged, I was greatly encouraged.
● Where I felt pessimistic, I was shown hope.
Our words have the great potential to deeply affect those around us.
Throughout Scripture we see the immense impact that our words can have — on ourselves, our emotions, on others, in situations, and in our lives!
Proverbs 16:24 says, “Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.”
With every word we say, we have an opportunity to bring truth, grace, joy, life, and Christ to others!
But, the opposite is also true.
If our good words can lift others, then our poor words can weigh others down, discourage their hearts, or make them feel completely drained… Proverbs 15:1 instructs us, “A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” And we know this to be true. Think about a time when someone spoke to you in harsh words… Even if they were speaking the truth, their harsh speech stirred up anger just as the Bible says. For this reason, Paul commends the church to “speak the truth in love”.
Our words have the great potential to deeply affect those around us.
With that in mind, let me give you a few thoughts:
- Never underestimate the power of encouraging words. No matter how small they may seem to you, your words can do wonders for others!
- Be mindful of WHAT you say and HOW you say it. Paul commends the church, “Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.” (Colossians 4:6)
- Be the kind of person that YOU WOULD WANT TO TALK TO. The Golden Rule works great here.
- Finally, If words carry this much weight, you should also be VERY careful about who you are listening to, and what you are allowing to be spoken to you and into your life.
Your words have great potential to affect those around you. So use every opportunity to speak with truth, grace, and joy.
Speak to others, so that they may hear Christ!

What a joy it is to know that our God hears us!
Psalm 116:1-2 declares, “I love the Lord, because He has heard my voice and my pleas for mercy. Because He inclined his ear to me, therefore I will call on Him as long as I live.”
Think about it: the King of all the universe — the God of creation — bends His ear to hear from you when you call out to Him!
This fact should simultaneously humble and delight our souls!
It should humble us as we go before such a throne – the seat of all power and judgement. There, seated upon the throne is the Almighty and Everlasting Lord; there is no greater ruler or authority than He. Majesty and splendor are His clothing. Yet, He is not a distant God, unconcerned with His creation. No, He is the God who draws near and hears the cries of the weak.
He stoops down to hear from the humble.
He hears our pleas for mercy.
He rescues and delivers those who call upon His name.
And such is our delight, that He delivers and delights in His children. He loves us and welcomes us as His adopted co-heirs with His son Jesus. Indeed, it is because of His salvation that we are welcomed into His presence. So let us enter into His gates with thanksgiving and praise! Let us rejoice in Him and let us give the Lord all the honor due His great name!
We cry out, and the merciful God of heaven hears us!
Believer, take your cares and concerns, your worries and fears, your hurts and pains, your worship and praise, your givings and thanks — take it all to Him! For He hears you, so call upon Him as long as you live!
Speak to your God, and be assured that He hears you.

One of the things in life that is common to all people is SUFFERING. No matter who we are or where we go, at some point we all experience suffering.
While some suffering is light, some suffering is horrendous.
Sometimes, the pain and suffering are momentary. But other times, our afflictions & sufferings are lasting.
The pains and sufferings of this life are real, and they wound us deeply. Sin brought suffering into this world, and we feel its sting in a multitude of ways: diseases, emotional wounds, poverty, physical decay, death, or loss… the list could go on and on.
In this life, there will be suffering…
However, when I think about suffering in life, I try to remind myself of two things:
Christ understands my suffering because He also suffered.
The prophet Isaiah called the Messiah a “man of sorrows acquainted with grief”. The King of Heaven willingly chose to endure the pain and sufferings of living in a fallen world and chose to suffer the full wrath of God against sin on the cross. If anyone understands suffering, it is Jesus Christ.
Because of Christ, all suffering is temporary. The conquering of sin through the cross was also the conquering of death for sin. For believers, this means that we are resurrected to life as Christ was, and in our resurrection in Him there is no suffering.
In Revelation 21 the voice from God’s throne declares, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.”
But how does that help us now? While we currently suffer in this life?
Christ understands your suffering and is compassionate to you. He offers you comfort and will walk with you through every suffering in life. He will not leave you and He will not forsake you. His heart is for you, and you have His love.
Take hope in His promises. One day, your sufferings will be no more. When this life is gone and you are resurrected in Christ, all will be made NEW. Then, you will never suffer again.
Take refuge in Christ, let Him be your comfort.
The sufferings in this life are real, and they hurt us deeply. Yes, you will suffer in this life, but do not suffer alone and despair as one without hope. Take your hurts and cry out to your Savior. For Christ is with you and His heart is for you. And always remember that one day everything will be made NEW.
I pray for any of you that are suffering, that the peace of Christ will overwhelm you. I pray that your sufferings cause you to draw near to God in Christ. And I pray that Christ comforts and heals you as He renews you.
