Hardest Geezer is Russ Cook's journey of running the length of Africa. He started in Cape Agulhas, South Africa, ran through rainforests, Sarah Desert, and couldn't pass through Algeria, and then finished at Ras Angela, Tunisia. There were many challenges with this journey, and Russ was able to do it. In this episode, I'm discussing this book in more detail.

In this episode, I discuss what I learned from Never Finished by David Goggins and how I'm applying that concept to my life. The idea is how can we challenge ourselves? For Goggins, it's running long distances. For me, it's also running long distances. I've run marathons every year since 2021. This year is different. I wanted to apply what I learned from Never Finished and push myself more. I've decided to sign up for a marathon back to back, so I'll be running 52 miles in a day and a couple hours. Stay hard.

Colleges are using these loans to increase the tuition cost. According to George Kamel in his book Breaking Free From Broke, college prices have increased by 1,300% from 1997 to 2023. The Secret Lives of Booksellers is a book about booksellers and librarians. This book provides the stories of what these people do. Matt Eversmann conducted the interviews, put thos interviews into stories, James edited those stories if needed, and then sent those stories to his publisher to be published in one book. This team have done three other books, which are also great: E. R. Nurses, Walk In My Combat Boots, and Walk The Blue Line. A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas is the novella in the A Court of Thorns and Roses series (ACOTAR). This is the fourth book or 3.5 book in the ACOTAR series. Here we are. I've finally read this book. A Court of Thorns and Roses or ACOTAR is a book I was recommend to by a family member. However, I never got into it. After a year of seeing everyone buy it where I work, I had to finally cave in and read it in 2024. This is the first book in the five part fantasy series and discusses about Feyre. I've read 406 books in the last three years. That averages to roughly 135 books per year. By reducing one habit by 85%, I've been able to read more consistently. Because I read three to four hours daily and have been for the last 1,123 days, I'm going to read a lot of books.The important thing for me is to continue that consistency and keep reading daily by making sure I keep that one habits hours low. Nelnet is my loan provider. There's a simple tool to use that allows you to pay more in the prinicipal of the loan. This is key since you'll be able to pay the loan off quicker. It's the beginning of the Hunger Games (64 years earlier), and you get information about how president Snow became president and information about the mysterious victor, Lucy Gray Baird, who was the 1st victor to win from District 12. The information for the 10th Hunger Games was erased, so people don't know who the victor was. Her name wasn't mentioned in the Hunger Games movie or book. Over the last three years, sales have increased tenfold for book sales. One factor could be that people started reading again, but what caused that? Tiktok. People were on social media alot more, and Tiktok videos over books became the norm. The #booktok has amassed 176.9 billion views. That's a lot of eyeballs on books! Someone watches it, reads it themselves, and then recommends it to their friends. It's a continous cycle that has leads to more book sales. Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros, the second book to the Fourth Wing, is coming out Nov. 7th. It's highly anticipated release day, and it looks like bookstores across U.S. have initiated a midnight release party. Each bookstore is going to do something different to pass the time like trivia games, board games, etc. Once the clock turns to 12 a.m., this is where chaos will happen, and people will be able to get their hands onto the book. Look Out For The Little Guy by Scott Lang was introduced in the beginning of the third ant man movie called Ant Man And the Wasp: Quantumania. I thought the book would be fake, but the movie prop is real and you can buy it at any bookstore, Walmart, or Target. I was hoping for the audiobook, but this hasn't been produced yet. Scooby-Doo's first episode was aired on Sep. 13th, 1969. Since then, we've had multiple shows, movies, and graphic novels over this series. In 2015, DC launched a new series called Scooby Apocalypse. In this series, the gang don't know each other until they all meet in the underground lab where Velma accidently formed a virus that causes people to turn into smart zombies. Thise series is based on survival, and it's geared toward adults. The You series by Caroline Kepnes is in the perspective of a book selling serial killer named Joe Goldberg. The books came first, then Netflix and Kepnes produced the You series that has now four seasons. This series has four books in it: You (1), Hidden Bodies (2), You Love Me (3), and For You and Only You (4). You was great, but the series went downhill from there. In this episode, I'll discuss more information about these last two books in the series, review them, and discuss why I didn't like them. If you haven't heard, Amulet 9 release date has just been announced! I've been waiting two years for an annoucement, but other kids and now adults have been waiting over 5 1/2 years for an announcement from Scholastic on when this book is coming out. Number nine has taken Kazu 5 1/2 years to make.Amulet series is a sci-fi kids graphic novel written by Kazu Kibuishi. A young kid, Emily, has the daunting task to save her Earth and the world she's in currently. It's a great series. I got into it because so many kids were asking for number nine, the series sounded good, and I enjoyed the art. I read all eight books in only a couple weeks, and I asked Kazu on February 27th, 2023 on Twitter when the ninth and final book is coming out. He got back to me, and he stated he is almost finished with it. A week later (March), he tweeted on his account he only had a couple more pages to color. Now, Scholastic just announced the release date for the ninth book, which will be coming out February 6th, 2024. In this episode, I'll be talking about this announcement, my thoughts on why they chose this date, and the work Kazu has put in for the last five years to make this book.

Hoover's most popular book, It Ends With Us, was the top selling book in 2022. Because of that, Hoover and Atria has decided to release a new Special Edition Hard Cover exclusive for U.S. and Europe. Also, Hoover has developed plans with a director and Sony productions to make It Ends With Us movie, and it should come out late 2024 or late 2025. The first Magic Tree House book, Dinosaurs After Dark, was published on July 28th, 1992. 31 years later, the Magic Tree House series now has over 64 books and counting. It has sold 134 million copies, and it has helped initiate a reading journey with young readers like me! I wouldn't be reading as much as I am if I didn't read these books growing up. Mary Pope Osborne, the author of these Magic Tree House books, has now adapted this classic series into graphic novels. I believe the entire orginal series (38 books) will be turned into graphic novels. Currently, there's four graphic novels over the first four books in that series: Dinosaurs After Dark (1), Knight at Dawn (2), Mummies In The Morning (3), and Pirates Past Noon (4). The fifth book, Night of the Ninjas, will be released on August 22nd, 2023. Financial feminist is a financial guidebook to fix your finances now. There's no bias, no restrictions, but there's a way to fix your financial habits with this book. This is important as fixing your finances start with fixing your financial habits. This book addresses some of the problems with Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey, and these problems make sense. One of the big ones is a $1,000 emergency saving account that Ramsey promotes. This is a great start, but Tori mentions to strive for a bigger emergency account first (three to six months). This way you feel comfortable and are confident to start paying off debt if you have any and start investing. The other popular financial book is Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. This book is advanced because it discusses financial moves like buying real estate you should do after you have established better financial habits. Robert doesn't mention any of that financial base first like an emergency account or debt, which I think are important. In this episode, I review Financial Feminist, discuss what I liked and disliked about the book, and any lessons I received from the book. I'll talk about credit card debt, emergency savings account, biking to work, and then why I'm probably not going to buy a house.

A hot headed pilot, Miles, doesn't want love. Then he meets Tate who is a nurse. They hook-up multiple times, but will this sex lead to Miles falling in love again? You'll have to read the book to find out, but this one of my favorite Colleen Hoover books. Hoover is the top selling romance author, and she sold six out of ten of the top selling books in 2022. You read that right. This book was the fifth top selling printed book in 2022 with over 1.5 million copies sold, according to NPD book scan. Melinda enters ninth grade traumatized by being sexually assaulted at a party that occured during the summer. You won't know about the party and what happened to Melinda that night until the middle of the book. The scene isn't graphic. This is a great book that I recommend people to read. Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas goes is a sci-fi book that leads to a subpar battle scene at the end of the series (book eight). There's fae, witches, powers, assassins, and romance tropes like haters to lovers in these books. The series has eight books: Assassins Blade (1), Throne of Glass (2), Crown of Midnight (3), Heir of Fire (4), Queen of Shadows (5), Empire of Storms (6), Tower of Dawn (7), and Kingdom of Ash (8). Similar to the Harry Potter series, each book gets larger ending with Kingdom of Ash with 980 pages. In this episode, I'll review this book, talk about three ways to read the series, discuss what I liked and disliked about the series, and lessons I received from the series.

The ninth book should be released in late 2023 or early 2024. Title is correct. Scott Lang who is Ant Man in the Marvel comics has a new book coming out on Sep. 5th 2023. The movie prop is actually real! The release of this book was announcef on Feb. 2nd 2022 with the marketing for Ant Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. In this episode, I discuss my thoughts on this book, and I rant on how awesome the Marvel movies are and why Ant Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is going to be an important movie to watch for the future Phases. I also talk about the way Spider-Man was saved by Disney or Marvel. Alright, I have to get back to watching Ant Man and The Wasp: Quantumania (comes out today), so I'll talk to you next Friday.

It has been a crazy year. A lot of ups and downs. In this episode, I discuss 32 things I learned this year. Honestly, I wish I knew some of these earlier in my life, but I do now as I transition into 2023. The one I want to focus more on in 2023 is consistency. The idea of doing the same thing over and over again without taking a break or rest. For me, I would run three to four times one week, stop for several weeks, and then go back to running. I don't want to do this. I want to run consistently three to four times every week.

There's roughly 16 movies based on the novel, and many people watch this movie during Christmas time. The premise of the book is where this old man, Scrooge, only cares about money and work. He hates Christmas until he is visited by three ghosts that show him his past, present situation, and future. Happy Halloween! For Halloween, I decided to go with a true crime book over a serial killer you might have never heard of. His name is Israel Keys. He killed all over the country for over a decade. He's still a mystery because he didn't disclose much information about some of his kills and then he committed suicide shortly after. Callahan's background as an investigative journalist made the book into a 299 pg. news article. I wanted to keep on reading this story. Callahan provides a ton of information and background while providing the art of story telling to disclose the information on how the police caught Keys. The first book, It Ends With Us, goes over Lily's relationship with Ryle who is abusive. This second book, It Starts With Us, goes over Lily recovering and fighting for the person she's wanted to date for a long time coming. The love between Atlas and Lily has never died down, and they have loved each other ever since high school. It's one of those high school romance stories that is very rare now a days. Lily and Atlas go their separate ways after high school, but they never stopped loving each other. Several years later, Atlas meets Lily at his restaurant while she's on a date with Ryle (first book). BAM. The kindle to the fire lights itself to a full blazing fire. Lily can't stop thinking about Atlas. She can't stop thinking about him even more when Ryle slaps her and pushes her down the stairs. Atlas helps Lily in the first book, but they go their separate ways again. Oh no. Atlas wasn't losing Lily again, so he starts talking to her and eventually starts dating her. It has been reviewed heavily as one of his best books he has written and that's saying something when you consider his other 22 New York Times Bestsellers like Lucky One, The Wish, and The Notebook. Dreamland goes over the romance between Colby Mills and Morgan Lee at a Florida seaside resort. Colby is a farmer who wants to write songs and sing them while Morgan went to school for music and is heading to Nashville after her vacation in Florida. They meet each other and fall helplessly in love. There's one other character, Beverly, and you'll find out how all three are connected by the end of the book. The show You on Netflix is based on these books. There's four books in the series. You is the first one, Hidden Bodies is the second, You Love Me is the third, and the unnamed fourth one is coming out on April 4th, 2023. The first season follows the first book (You) closely then it takes a different approach than the books. These books are made by Caroline Kepnes, a New York Times bestselling author with her Joe Goldberg books. The main character, Joe, is a bookseller in You. One day, Guinevere Beck comes into the store, checks out at the register, and Joe get's her information (her first and last name) from her credit card. With that information, Joe is able to find her on the internet and eventually is able to find out where she lives. The stalker soon becomes the boyfriend.
