About Dr. Niamh ChapmanDr Niamh Chapman is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Menzies Institute for Medical Research. Dr Chapman is Deputy Chair of the International Society of Hypertension, Women in Hypertension Research Committee and the Australian Cardiovascular Alliance Emerging Leaders Committee. Niamh is passionate about accessible and engaging communication of science and founded national award-winning radio show and podcast That’s What I Call Science in 2019.

About Professor Grant DrummondGrant Drummond's research focuses on understanding the roles of oxidative stress and the immune system in cardiovascular and chronic kidney disease. His work has provided insights into the roles of NADPH oxidase-derived reactive oxygen species as cell signalling molecules under physiological conditions, and mediators of oxidative damage in vascular disease. His studies have also shed light on the involvement of inflammasomes and interleukin-18, and B cells and autoantibodies in the development of hypertension and kidney damage.

About Dr. Francine Marques:Associate Professor Francine Marques is a Viertel Charitable Foundation and National Heart Foundation Fellow, and head of the Hypertension Research Laboratory at Monash University. She has published >90 peer-reviewed papers in top journals such as Nature Reviews Cardiology, Nature Medicine and Circulation, and has secured $7 million in competitive funding. She has won 25 awards including the 2019 American Heart Association Hypertension Council Goldblatt Award, 2020 High Blood Pressure Research Council of Australia and 2021 International Society of Hypertension Mid-Career Awards, and the 2021 Australian Academy of Science Gottschalk Medal. Her team investigates the molecular mechanisms behind the development of hypertension, with focus on disease identification and prevention via the gut microbiota using both animal and clinical trials. A/Prof Marques is the co-program manager for the High Blood Pressure Research Council of Australia, the chair of the International Society of Hypertension Mentoring and Training Committee, and an elected member of the steering committee for the Gordon Research Conference on Angiotensin.

About Kerry Doyle:Kerry Doyle PSM OAM is the Executive Director of the Australian Cardiovascular Alliance, a role in which she began in 2020. She stepped across from the Heart Foundation where she was the Chief Executive Officer at the NSW Division, and played a huge role in strategy development. She also has immense experience in working with state and federal government- from both internally and in advocacy, having previously been the Executive Director of NSW Government’s Industry, Innovation & Investment Division. Kerry has interests that span from fundamental discovery and innovation through to public health.
