As a father, it can be tough to navigate the challenges of parenting and being a husband in today's society. But in this episode of Resilient Man Project, Thomas Spann, the host of Dads That Lead podcast, shares his insights into why building resilience is crucial for fathers.

Through his experience organizing father-son retreats, Thomas has seen firsthand how adventure and open communication can strengthen the bond between fathers and their children. He believes that positive masculine energy is essential in helping young men and women transition into adulthood.

But resilience isn't just about being tough. It's also about finding a balance between being a friend and a dad to your children. It's about leading in a way that is righteous and serving, rather than seeking control.

So how can fathers prioritize building resilience? Thomas suggests one-on-one coaching and group programs like Raising Champions, which help dads amplify their leadership skills. But ultimately, it's about finding a balance between being a fun dad and setting expectations and boundaries.

As Thomas explains, the tighter the connection between fathers and their children, the safer they will feel. And by guiding children without forcing them to take action, they can explore their own feelings and make their own decisions.

What you will learn in this episode:

  • Building Resilience in Fathers
  • Challenges for Fathers and Husbands Today
  • Leadership and trust in fatherhood
  • Spiritual Leadership
  • Guiding Children
  • Being a Dad

Do good and be present.
Doing good and being present are two of the most important things that we can do in our lives. Being present means being aware of the present moment, appreciating it, and connecting with it. Doing good means taking action to help others and make the world a better place. These two concepts are intertwined and are essential to living a fulfilling life.

Being present is the foundation for doing good. When we are present in the moment, we can be mindful of our thoughts and actions. We become aware of what is happening around us and can be more compassionate and understanding. Being present allows us to connect with others in meaningful ways and to be more open to helping them. It also helps us to be more mindful of our own thoughts and feelings and to make decisions that are in line with our values.

Doing good is the result of being present. When we are present, we can take action to help others. We can volunteer our time, donate money, or simply offer words of encouragement or support. Doing good also means taking action to make the world a better place. We can take steps to reduce our environmental impact, fight for social justice, or support causes that we believe in. Doing good is not just about helping others, but also about making the world a better place for everyone.

Take responsibility for your life.
Taking responsibility for our lives is a key part of doing good and being present. It means recognizing that we are responsible for our own actions and the consequences of those actions. We must take ownership of our decisions and the impact they have on ourselves and others. Taking responsibility for our lives also means recognizing our mistakes and learning from them. We must be willing to accept our mistakes and learn from them in order to grow and become better people.

The story of the podcast's guest is a powerful example of taking responsibility for his life. After years of addiction and prison, he experienced the death of his mother, his sister, and then his mother again. Instead of giving in to despair and victimhood, he chose to use his pain to become a leader and empower others. He chose to take responsibility for his life and use his experiences to help others.

Taking responsibility for our lives is an important part of doing good and being present. We must recognize our mistakes and learn from them in order to grow and become better people. We must also take ownership of our decisions and the impact they have on ourselves and others. By taking responsibility for our lives, we can make a positive impact on the world and on our own lives.

Episode Highlights:

Learn from mistakes.
We all make mistakes in life. No one is perfect, and it is important to learn from our mistakes in order to grow and become better people. Mistakes can be a great teacher, and it is important to take the time to reflect on our mistakes and learn from them.

One example of learning from mistakes comes from Steve of Chief Dog Firearms. Steve had been an entrepreneur for a long time and had created a company that was doing well into eight figures in sales. He thought they were invincible, until a series of events unfolded and ended up in bankruptcy. He had to start over from the ground up and it was a difficult situation. However, Steve was able to take the lessons he learned from this experience and apply them to his life. He learned to be more humble and to appreciate the small things. He also learned that he was not invincible and that mistakes can happen even if you don't expect them.

Marriage is another example of learning from mistakes. Steve has been married for almost 26 years and has learned to take the lessons he has learned from his mistakes in marriage and apply them to his life. He has learned to be more patient, understanding, and to communicate better with his spouse. These lessons have helped him to become a better partner and to have a stronger relationship with his spouse.

Listen to customers' needs.
Listening to customers’ needs is an important lesson that can be applied to both personal and business relationships. It is essential to step back and ask ourselves what we want out of a situation and to look at it from different angles. We must also consider what the other person wants and what we want together. By doing so, we can make decisions that will benefit both parties and create a better outcome.

In business, it is important to listen to customers’ needs and to make changes based on their feedback. This can help us to create a better experience for them and to build trust with our customers. We can also use customer feedback to create products and services that will meet their needs and make them happy.

Stay informed and prepared.
In today's world, it is important to stay informed and prepared for any situation. Being informed and prepared can help you make the best decisions for yourself and those around you. This is something that Joel Evans, a former police officer from California, knows all too well.

Joel started his career as a police officer in Oakland, a city known for its high rates of violence and crime. He then moved to San Francisco, where he experienced a different kind of challenge. Instead of dealing with violent people, he encountered many people with mental health issues. Throughout his career, Joel was always looking for ways to improve himself and sharpen his skills. He was always pursuing personal development and was wired differently than the average police officer.

In October 2021, Joel was forced out of his job and was fired from the San Francisco Police Department because he refused to take an experimental product that he was adamantly told to get. This event was a sign from the universe for Joel to go all in on human potential coaching and his life and health coaching business, which he had been doing on the side for many years.

Joel's story is a reminder to stay informed and prepared. Being informed and prepared can help you make the best decisions for yourself and those around you. Joel was prepared and knowledgeable about the experimental product and chose to not take it. This decision led him to pursue his passion for life and health coaching and to go all in on his business.

Staying informed and prepared is essential in today's world. It can help you make the right decisions and open the door to new opportunities. Joel's story is a great example of how being informed and prepared can lead to success.

Be present and vulnerable.
Joel was a natural health practitioner who had to do a lot of research to understand the products and services he was offering. He quickly noticed the censorship of natural health topics, which made his research more difficult. He also noticed that the studies that were done on products and services didn't have the gold marker of double blind, randomized, controlled placebo safety control trials. This lack of safety control studies alarmed Joel and made him question why these products weren't doing what they were supposed to do.

This experience led Joel to shift his focus to helping high performers, entrepreneurs, and go-getters. He realized the importance of having a tribe and a community with men, especially during the pandemic. He wants to help these men access a flow state, presence, and ease no matter what they're doing. He believes this can be achieved through a holistic approach of mind, body, and spirit.

It is important to be present and vulnerable in order to have meaningful relationships with others. Being present means being aware of the present moment and being open to new experiences. Being vulnerable means being able to express your thoughts and feelings in an honest and open way.

Having a tribe or community of people to talk to and be vulnerable with is essential for personal growth and development. It can provide a sounding board and a safe place to share your thoughts and feelings. It can also help you to find more flow, ease, and presence in your life.

Value your time wisely.

Time is one of the most valuable assets we have, but it is something that many of us take for granted. We often forget that time is finite and that it is essential to use it wisely. This is something I have come to realize through my podcast, Resilient Man Project.

I started the podcast with the aim of inspiring and motivating men to become more resilient. Over the past 20 episodes, I have had the pleasure of interviewing some incredible people, including the VP of Apex, Drew B. Wilson. Through our conversations, I have come to understand that time is a precious commodity and that it should be valued and used wisely.

As Drew mentioned, the average podcast only lasts seven episodes before it fades away. This is often due to the lack of purpose and commitment to the project. For me, however, there was never any doubt that I would return to the podcast. I have found a great sense of purpose in using my life and my story to inspire and motivate others. This has led me to re-evaluate how I spend my time, and I now prioritize activities that will bring value to my life and the lives of others.

Time is a valuable asset that we can never get back. It is essential to value our time and use it wisely. This could mean saying no to activities that don't bring us joy or serve a purpose, or it could mean investing our time in activities that bring us closer to our goals. Whatever it is, it is important to remember that our time is limited, and we should use it wisely.

Invest in yourself and relationships.

As entrepreneurs and business owners, it is especially important to ensure that our investments are worthwhile and bring us a return. We should be mindful and intentional with how we use our time, and make sure that it is going towards something that is creating and producing. When we invest in ourselves, we are investing in our future and our relationships.

Investing in ourselves can come in many forms. It could mean taking the time to get a doctor checkup, exercising, reading, and disciplining ourselves. It could also mean spending time with our families and loved ones, investing in our relationships and strengthening the bond between us. Investing in ourselves and our relationships can bring us a level of fulfillment and happiness that cannot be found in material things.

When we invest in ourselves and our relationships, we are setting a good example for those around us. We are showing them that we are taking care of our health and wellbeing, and that we are prioritizing our relationships. We are also showing them that we are taking responsibility for our actions and that we are being intentional in how we spend our time.

Time is a precious asset, and it is important to invest it wisely. We should be mindful of how we use our time and make sure that it is going towards activities that bring us joy and fulfillment. Investing in ourselves and our relationships can bring us a level of happiness and success that cannot be found elsewhere.

Episode highlights:

  • Time is our most valuable asset
  • Invest in relationships and health.
  • Self-worth is priceless.
  • Prioritize family, business, and self.
  • Humility trumps ego and pride.
  • Serve others to succeed.

God can change anyone.
John’s story is also a reminder that God can change anyone. Despite John’s difficult past and the many obstacles he faced, he was able to turn his life around. His father-in-law’s words of wisdom, “Even people don’t change, but God can change anybody”, resonated with John and gave him the strength and courage to keep going. This is a powerful reminder that no matter how bad the situation may seem, God can change anyone.

John’s story is an inspiring one. Despite the odds, he was able to turn his life around and achieve success. He teaches us that no matter how difficult the situation may seem, we should never give up hope. We should keep pushing forward and believing in ourselves, and eventually we will achieve success. He also reminds us that God can change anyone. No matter how bad the situation may seem, we should never give up hope. We should keep pushing forward and believing in God, and eventually we will achieve success.

Depression is a serious mental health issue that affects millions of people around the world. It is a debilitating condition that can cause a person to feel overwhelmed and unable to cope with everyday life. For those who suffer from depression, it can be difficult to find effective treatments that work. However, recent research has suggested that psychedelics may be a promising treatment for depression.

Psychedelics, such as LSD and psilocybin, have been used for centuries as part of spiritual and religious ceremonies. In recent years, they have been studied for their potential to treat depression. Studies have found that psychedelics can help to reduce symptoms of depression, such as feelings of hopelessness and low mood. They can also help to reduce anxiety and improve quality of life.

One of the main benefits of psychedelics is that they can help to reduce the symptoms of depression in a single session. This is in contrast to traditional treatments, such as medications and talk therapy, which can take weeks or even months to take effect. Psychedelics can also help to reduce anxiety, which is often a major symptom of depression.

My guest on the Resilient Man Project, Coach Herb, has had a unique experience with psychedelics and depression. After suffering a traumatic brain injury, he found himself dealing with severe depression and suicidal thoughts. He tried traditional treatments, such as meditation and breath work, but found that they weren’t working for him. He then turned to psychedelics and found that they helped him to reduce his symptoms of depression and improve his quality of life.

Psychedelics can be a powerful tool for those suffering from depression. They can help to reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety in a single session, and can also help to improve quality of life. While more research is needed to understand the long-term effects of psychedelics, they could be a promising treatment for depression in the future.

Get Hard to Kill HERE

On this episode of Resilient Man Project, Jonathan is joined by MMA veteran and founder of Savage Syndicate, Josh. Josh talks about how to become a harder target by teaching situational awareness, striking, and groundwork basics. He has written a book Hard to Kill which outlines lessons he has learned.

Be your own first responder.

Get in shape to defend self.

Be aware of surroundings.

Stay consistent for results.

Acquire self-defense skills to protect family.

Learn self-defense skills.

Be a first responder.

--
Life is pretty crazy. One moment you can be pumping gas and the next moment you can be threatened by a stranger who attacks you. That is why you need to be prepared. You need to learn how to defend yourself, how to spot danger before it becomes a threat and how to stay one step ahead of danger that lurks around every corner. This book is your guide. Learn from Josh Brisbane, a professionally trained fighter, on ways to stay safe, stay savage and stay hard to kill.

Josh Brisbane is a professional SAVAGE. For the past 20 years, he has been surrounding himself with the best fighters on the planet and learning how to fight, protect and stand his ground. When he is not training, Josh is surfing and spending time with his family. He also hosts The Savage Watermen Podcast, where he interviews everyone from fighters, surfers, entrepreneurs, investors and much more.

In today’s world, it is more important than ever to know how to defend yourself. With crime rates rising and threats all around us, it is essential to have the skills to stay safe. That is why it is so important to learn self-defense basics.

Josh, founder of Savage Syndicate and MMA veteran, is an expert in self-defense. He believes that everyone should be prepared to protect themselves and their families, and his teachings are focused on the average person. Josh’s book, Hard to Kill, is a great resource for learning self-defense basics. In it, he shares his own experiences and lessons he has learned along the way.

Josh’s teachings are focused on three main areas of self-defense: situational awareness, striking, and groundwork. He believes that it is important to be aware of your surroundings and to be able to spot danger before it becomes a threat. He also teaches striking and groundwork, so that you are prepared for any situation. His teachings are designed for all levels, so you don’t have to be a Navy SEAL to learn self-defense basics.

Josh emphasizes that physical fitness is also an important part of self-defense. He explains that if you don’t have the physical fitness to be able to outrun an attacker or fight off an attacker, then you won’t be able to protect yourself or your family. He emphasizes that it’s important to be in top physical condition if you want to be able to defend yourself. He suggests that if you want to start doing something to improve your physical fitness, you should start by running a mile and doing push-ups and pull-ups. He also recommends that you set small goals and work your way up to bigger goals.

It’s important to take responsibility for your own physical fitness. If you let yourself go and can’t protect your family, that’s on you. You have to look in the mirror and ask yourself if you’re in shape to protect yourself and your family. It’s easy to get into a habit of not exercising and letting yourself go, but it’s important to take responsibility for your own fitness.

On the Resilient Man Project podcast, Jonathan York is joined by Tim Holloway. They discuss common issues among men and strategies to cope. Tim explains his background of growing up in a chaotic household where his parents were addicted to drugs, like speed and heroin, and suffered from paranoia and delusions.

Overcome traumatic experiences.
God transforms lives.
Growth is a process.
Find strength in resilience.
Shift perspective to find connection.
Release pain, gain resilience.
Challenge false beliefs with truth.
--
Tim grew up in an environment filled with violence, drugs, and prostitution, and he was taken out of it at the age of 10. He was exposed to a world of addiction and chaos, and he soon found himself in the midst of it all. He was a skinny, scrawny kid trying to keep up with the “big dogs” and soon found himself overdosing. He was screaming at God and telling him to “F off”, and he was not scared to die.

It was at that moment that something changed. He found himself in a hammock all day, processing the events of the night before. He came to the conclusion that he was going to meet his maker in an angry fashion, and was concerned for his mental wellbeing and eternity. It was then that he felt a transformation in his heart, and he no longer felt satisfied with the life he was living. He found himself crying on the bathroom floor and wanting so badly to be different. That’s when God met him and gave him a heart transformation.

This transformation was life-changing for this man. He was no longer satisfied with the life he was living, and he found himself wanting to do the right thing. This transformation allowed him to find strength and resilience within himself and to cope with difficult times. It was a powerful and necessary step to take, and it provided the support and guidance he needed.

Growth requires resilience and grace. This is something that we all can learn from the man's experience. It took him a while to catch up to the idea of transformation and to make the necessary changes in his life. He had to learn how to detach himself from the pain and suffering he had experienced, and to find the courage to make the right choices. He had to fight his battles with alcoholism and other issues, and eventually he found the strength and courage to make the right decisions.

The transformation process is often compared to the caterpillar and butterfly process. The caterpillar goes through a process of enlightenment and desiring to do good and righteous things. This is the larva stage, and it is the beginning of the process. Then, the caterpillar goes into the cocoon and develops their core values and convictions. This is a struggle, but it is also a strength-building process. Finally, the caterpillar breaks out of the cocoon and is able to fly.

This process of transformation is a long and difficult one, and it is important to remember that everyone is on a different journey. We must show grace and understanding to those who are in the larva stage, those who are in the cocoon, and those who are flying around and sharing their message of resilience. Everyone is on their own journey, and we must show grace and understanding to those who are in different stages.

The transformation process is a difficult one, but it is also an incredibly rewarding one. As the man said, “the further you walk, the more surrounded by.” The further we walk in our journey, the more connected we become with ourselves and with God. We must have faith that we will be able to make it through our struggles and that we will be able to reach our goals. Growth requires resilience and grace, and with these two things, we can make it through anything.

In this episode of the Resilient Man Project, Jonathan York and Jake discuss Jake's challenging journey of overcoming his addiction. At 15, Jake began using drugs and drifted away from family and friends. Desperate for help, his family supported his journey and he eventually found respite in building exotic Airbnbs. Jonathan encourages others to reach out to him for help and advice.

You’ll Learn:

Find resilience within yourself.

Recreate yourself through mindset.

Drug addiction can be a superpower.

Take responsibility for progress.

Learn from life's lessons.

Take control of your health.

Be kind by telling the truth.

Speak your message courageously.

Life can be filled with tests and trials, and it is during these moments that we must find the strength within ourselves to overcome. We must be resilient. This was a lesson that I learned from Jake, a man who had to find his own resilience to overcome his struggles.

At 15, Jake was just a regular kid trying to fit in, but he ended up getting into hardcore drugs. This led him to forget who he was, and he lost family members and friends. He found himself in a tight spot, not knowing where to go or what to do with his life. Jake was trying to do something productive with his life and went to school to be a lineman, but he got a DUI and that derailed him from graduating. This caused him to dive into hardcore narcotics, using heroin, pills and other substances.

Jake was the only one in his school to get drug tested, and it was right after he was clean. He was in a terrible place, with his room covered in paraphernalia and drug stuff everywhere. His life was a total wreck. He got kicked out of school and lost his job, and his employer even told his dad that he had to pay for him to go to treatment or pay for a coffin. Jake was trying to hold it together, but he was using substances to try to solve his problems, which never worked. He was kicked out of treatment centers for life due to his mental state.

However, Jake was able to find the inner strength to overcome his struggles. He was able to find a mentor that helped him become the speaker he always dreamed of being. He also started building exotic Airbnb and doing extravagant stuff. Through this, he was able to forge himself into something strong and find his way back.

The story of Jake is a reminder to all of us that we have the inner strength to overcome our struggles. We must be resilient and find our own ways out of tight spots. It is only through this resilience that we can find our way and become something stronger.
