In this episode, we were so delighted to get to chat with Lyndsey, a homeschooling mama of 4, from Treehouse School on the topic of homeschooling. "Comparison is the thief of joy"
Theodore Roosevelt Well comparison can not only steal your joy...but your wallet, too. Do you ever feel like you need to keep up with your friends, your neighbors or even people you've never met in real live but follow via the internet? If that is something you can relate to, let me say you're in good company, friend. We live in a world where it seems like as soon as we get out of college, or just out into the "real world" in general, we feel we should have the same financial situation our parents do. The problem is, our parents have been at it our whole life, and we are just starting out.
In this episode, we are diving into the perennial struggle with the desire to 'keep up with the Jones'. We'll share our stories, our struggles, and ask some questions about what is really important.
In this episode we discuss: * What is meant by "keeping up with the Jones'"? * What is lifestyle inflation? * Besides finances, what are some pressures we may feel to "keep up" with * Our personal stories and when we each realized we were out of our element * Some strategies for assessing what is important and how to rein in spending when you realize it's off the rails * and lots of laughing...and more!
Resources mentioned in the episode * First of all, go and watch this video...then download the song and play it before anything you feel nervous to do...you're welcome. Oh gosh, I just watched it again...weeping. * Dave Ramsey's Total Money Makeover * Your Money or Your Life by Vicki Robin * Dave Ramsey podcast * You Need A Budget (app) * Love Your Life, Not Theirs by Rachel Cruze * How to Throw a Kick-Ass Wedding on a Budget

This is a rewind episode (Season 1 Episode 7). We hope you enjoy it! Happy Holidays to you and your family. See you in the New Year! Love, Sammy and Jen
In this episode, we are talking about Millennial SPIRITUALITY! First, we'll take a look at some interesting stats about American adults and their religions (or lack thereof). Then we will dive deep into a heartfelt and vulnerable discussion about our past and present relationships with spirituality, religion, and faith.
Man, this felt like a hard episode to do. Both Sammy and I don't like being "outsiders", and to be honest, in this current world, whatever stance you find yourself taking, you are just never going to be "enough" for someone else.
I was worried about being too Christian for some, and not enough for others... Sammy was worried about being judged on her current stance on religion and spirituality. And what I come to on that is... we'll never make everyone happy... and the hope is that just one person who listens to this, feels seen...and if that one person is feeling something missing, that they feel encouraged to just open up a dialogue with God (or greater power, if that word makes you uncomfortable).
...And most importantly, that it can be messy, and imperfect... because in all honesty, what meaningful relationships AREN'T messy and imperfect?
I hope this episode, which was truly incredibly vulnerable for both of us to record, finds you well.
Much love,
Jen and Sammy

In this episode we’ll cover: * Religion vs. Spirituality - Pew Research Stats, our own perspectives * Our own stories on spirituality and religion- our personal journeys and where we are today * Our frustrations with religion and what kept us from jumping into religions before * What "seeking" looked like to us * Our favorite show right now :-p
Resources mentioned in "Millennial Spirituality" * The Chosen- just go watch the Chosen...whether you're a Christian or not... it's incredible. It's completely free to watch! Sammy's main goal in life right now is to share this show with EVERYONE! :P * And Still, She Laughs: Defiant Joy in the Depths of Suffering - by Kate Merrick * Crossroads Church in Buellton, CA (if you're local, I can't recommend them enough!) * Reality Church- (there are other churches now besides just Carpinteria - there are churches in LA, Stockton, Ventura, San Fran, Santa Barbara, London, Honolulu, and Boston!) * Article in Pew Research on 3 in 5 adults now feeling religiously unaffiliated * If you are interested in reading more in the Bible, I (Jen) have loved the Bible Recap...a quick podcast episode each day that breaks down in laymen's terms a piece of the bible that you read for that day. And for good measure, because I honestly find the old testament somewhat confusing (and Sammy finds it somewhat dark)... I might even suggest starting with the book of John. But, you do you!

In this episode we are doing a follow up to our episode about value-based relocation. It has been long enough since we have both moved across the country (out of California) to check in and get real about the downsides to making a big move.
This is not meant to discourage anyone from making a big move if its been on your heart, but we hope this will help you plan as best you can, be prepared for less romantic aspects of a move, and take the time to prepare ahead of time before taking the leap. In this episode we'll discuss: * How we have been feeling about our moves * Costs associated with moving * Making friends in a new place (as a follow up, you could listen to this episode on making friends as an adult) * Uprooting families * Culture Shock * Organization and executing a move of this size * When reality doesn't match expectation * Biosolids program (it got it's very own line)

In this episode, we discuss how Jen and her husband drove over 10,000 miles with their three littles ones across the country, 7 and under… and not one single minute of screen time in the car. And believe it or not… all while staying mostly sane.
The summer of 2022 our family of five took off on a cross country 4 month trip pulling a 29 ft travel trailer behind our Suburban. My husband and I tend to be a bit old school in terms of technology, not to mention the onset of tantrums and meltdowns when said technology comes to its end… so there was never a question in my mind that during this trip, there would most likely be no screens in our car to keep our kids entertained.
So here are the handful of tips that I can impart to you from personal experiences and learned (aka painful) lessons.
In this episode we'll discuss:

In this episode, we did a deep dive on all things sourdough with Kristin Richard! We reached out to Facebook and asked our listeners what sort of things keep you from trying sourdough, hang you up, or confuse the heck out of you. Kristin was able to answer all of our questions, and we have your answers here in this episode.
Questions we cover in this episode: * What are the health benefits of sourdough? * How can I make a starter from scratch? If not from scratch, how can you acquire a starter? * How to feed the starter and maintain it? How often, etc.? * One of the biggest hurdles people have when starting sourdough is that they are worried about messing it up. What is the worst thing that happens? What if I mess it up? Is it salvageable? * Do I have to divide it and use it weekly or can I put it in the fridge (and for how long?) * Is it possible to make gluten free sourdough, and what would be the best flours to do that? * What are your favorite sourdough recipes? And what else can I make besides bread? * How do you make your beautiful designs? Tools, technique, etc.
Where to find Kristin Richard: * On Instagram at @laflourchild- go check out her BEAUTIFUL sourdough loaves! She truly makes them a work of art!

In this episode we are finally diving a little deeper into the topic of homeschooling... more specifically, questions to ask yourself when considering homeschooling. I (Jen) came upon an article written by Little House Learning Co. She walked through 6 questions she felt were important to ask yourself to see if homeschooling could work for you and your family. We loved the idea of going through these questions with our own thoughts and take on it as a format for this conversation. We really enjoyed the vulnerability and perspective that came of this conversation, and we hope you'll enjoy it too!
In this episode * We'll discuss the 6 questions asked in this article on Little House Learning Co.
Resources to look at when considering if homeschooling could be right for you: Books: * The Brave Learner by Julie Bogart. This has been recommended to me about 100 times, and you'll find it on almost every single "top 10 homeschooling books" lists. * The Call of the Wild + Free by Ainsley Arment. Another one that was so highly recommended and so beautifully written with encouragement. * Dumbing Us Down by John Taylor Gatto (this one may be a bit controversial, but it was recommended to me by countless people. Also, even if you don't agree with what is being said, it could at least give you a peak into a different perspective in which you can come to your own conclusion on something you may not have given thought to before!) * Balanced and Barefoot by Angela Hanscom (not specifically a homeschool book, but one of the books that really inspired me to want to homeschool and be in nature far more than my kids were sitting down at a desk- and just how important that is for them) * Homeschool Bravely by Jamie Erickson * Modern Miss Mason by Leah Boden (I haven't personally read this one yet but I have had this one recommended to me many times as well, so I'm going to put it on the list ) * Wild + Free magazine - seriously the most beautiful magazine full of inspiring and beautiful encouragement and ideas to do with your children in your homeschool. I'm not currently homeschooling but this magazine literally makes me want to be better, so I still subscribe to it.
Podcasts: * 1000 hours outside- not specifically a homeschooling podcast but all about preserving childhood as long as possible and how incredibly important it is for children to spend as much time outside as possible (which can be hard to do when in a school setting) * Wild + Free * Modern Miss Mason : I haven't listened to this one yet but just saw this one and since it was such a highly recommended book, it's definitely a podcast I'm interested in checking out. * Read-Aloud Revival- surrounded around the topic of building a love of literature and books in children
**truly, these are just a small few of the many, many resources available out there. We only hope that these resources may stir your appetite to learn more on the subject and initiate a conversation if homeschooling has been put on your heart. Hygge is defined as 'a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment and wellbeing' by Oxford Languages, but we like to think of it as making time for the simple joys of life - breaking away from the daily rush and grind to enjoy good times with good people. We're going to get into why we LOVE this concept and how it fits perfectly into everything we discuss on the show, as well as our favorite ways to bring a little more hygge into our lives!
In this episode you will learn: * What is hygge? * Where does the term hygge originate from? * What is a hygge lifestyle and how does it tie into our slow living theme? * The 5 senses in hygge * Our top favorite ways to hygge this fall

In this episode, we really felt the nudge to push pause on our usual format and have a candid chat about mental health, and where we are with our own journeys. We feel so passionately about normalizing actually talking out loud about mental health (much like we do about physical health)! Normalizing checking in with our friends and asking... "how are you, really?"
In this episode you'll hear Sammy's struggles with moving to a completely new state, culture, and climate...across the country, away from her family. And you'll hear Jen discuss her mental health journey that led to her being diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 38; what's she done up until now to manage it, and where she's going next. I know this is a different format than usual, and a vulnerable one for us at that... but I hope you'll be open to the conversation, and that you are able to gain some nuggets from it, or for someone you know who may need to hear it. In this episode we have our first interview, with Alexis Girvan, for a segment we would like to call "Millennial Pioneer Profiles". These are people we have met and know who are embodying this lifestyle that we have been diving into... intentional, value based, slow living, etc. So, in the spirit of this 'slow living season' we have been in, we can't think of anyone better to kick it off than Alexis, who has been teaching us how to 'relish the gift of rest' for years now.
Alexis has always been masterful at slowing down (or at least, in the 14 years that I have known her point). She is amazing at pausing to appreciate, and verbalize that appreciation with a collection of words that reads like poetry. We really wanted to highlight Alexis as our first interview for the pioneer profiles because we really feels that she embodies the spirit of what we talk about on this podcast. However, what I really love about Alexis is that her version of "slow living" does not necessarily look like a homestead with chickens, clothes drying on a line, and homemade bread... although...sometimes it does. Her version of "slow living" is her own, and it's an amazing perspective to hear how differently we are all walking our own versions of "slow living". | In this episode, slow living in the kitchen meets slow living debt free as we explore our personal journeys in making more frugal choices when it comes to the foods that we eat while trying to keep a nutrient-dense diet, sharing where we've struggled and what we've learned along the way... One of my biggest frustrations with podcasts and blog posts on the subject of saving money on a healthy diet has really been... that most of the time those diets were not healthy enough for what I value for my family. Many of grocery budgets were far too low for what I felt to be realistic for my family. Or there were grocery store chains that we didn't have where I lived... I have felt there are not enough resources out there that talk about saving money on nutrient dense foods. But while our grocery bills may not be as low as some of the podcasts out there, there are many ways to save money on a healthy diet, without having to set aside your values for the quality of the food. In this episode, we'll dive into the ways we have been learning to do that over the years. What we'll cover in this episode:* What is the difference between being frugal and being cheap? * How does frugality connect to slow living? * Our own personal disclaimers on what this episode will not be about... * What Jen and Sammy have been doing to reduce the cost of their grocery bills while still maintaining a nutrient dense diet * What the ONE THING is that we think would be a great place to start if you do nothing else

Sammy and Jen break down their experiences with the zero waste movement, some of the darker sides of the movement (and what you can aim for instead), and how to get started reducing your impact on the environment in ways that can actually benefit you and your lifestyle as well!

We actually had an entirely different episode planned, but after Jen texted Sammy with overwhelming feelings of anxiety... We decided to take a different turn with this episode.
Anxiety is prevalent. There are more cases of anxiety today than ever before. It makes you wonder, doesn't it? In this episode, we talk about some modern day causes of anxiety, our personal experiences with it, and some ideas that have worked for us to turn it way down (and in some cases, off completely).
In this episode “Slow Living and Anxiety” you will learn: * Why Jen was feeling super anxious during this recording (it may or may not have had something to do with Big Foot... I kid you not) * Nick's saying about "tending the garden of your mind" and keeping "weeds" out * Stress and the 2 things it really boils down to... * Different stimuli that can lead to anxiety * How we personally combat anxiety in a way that leads to more peace and calm... * ...and the things we have done to combat it that don't... :-p

I am loving the direction that season 2 is taking with a focus on "slow living". What better place to deep dive on this topic than heading straight to slow living in the kitchen. In our homes, the slow living kitchen truly is the heart of the home. Where full bellies equal love and affection. In this episode Jen and Sammy dive deeply into how we are using the kitchen as a vehicle to slow down and live a simpler, more present life (at least working on it, anyway)!
In this episode “Slow Living in the Kitchen” you will learn: * What are the ways we are slowing living in the kitchen * Benefits of cooking for your mental health * Some of our favorite cooking memories * Where we started (our background) and where we are now with our kitchen skills * Were we always good at cooking/baking? * Some of our favorite from scratch recipes * What we are making in our kitchens regularly these days

For season 2 of the Millennial Pioneer Podcast, we're feeling the nudge to talk more about "slow living". Maybe it's the high levels of anxiety we're experiencing as a culture, maybe it's the onslaught of "cottage core" and homesteading romanticization... but there is something that is nudging us all to slow down, question the status quo of "climbing the corporate ladder" and writing our own definition of the pace we think we should be living life, instead of society doing so.
In this episode, we are defining our own ideal image of a slow lifestyle...and spoiler alert, it does not mean sitting around all day doing nothing. Join us as we write out a dream list, and discuss how you can navigate dreaming up your own version of "slow living".
In this episode “The Call to Live a Slow Life” you will learn: * What exactly is "a slow life" * What does it mean to "live slow" and what does it NOT mean... * What Jen and Sammy are doing to slow things down in their own daily life * How you can create your own vision for your "slow lifestyle"

We genuinely feel this conversation around postpartum is one of the most important conversations we have had on this podcast to date! There is a lie going around... the lie that women must compete to see who can "bounce back" quickest after giving birth. Who can be the woman who gets back to her "pre baby weight" the fastest. Fits in her "pre baby jeans" the fastest. Gets back to the gym the fastest.
It isn't serving us well, ladies.
The week after we decided to have a part 2 discussion with Jenna (after episode 14- truly, I felt we could talk forever), I got an email from my neighbor who is due to have her baby soon. I was taken aback with awe how beautifully she was able to ask for what she needed from her community.
As a collective, women tend to have a hard time asking for what they need. They are worried about putting anyone "out". Burdening others. Of course this isn't everyone, if you cannot relate to that, you're one of the lucky ones. So after going through something as life changing, life altering, as birth, we tend to have a hard time with caring for ourselves, creating boundaries, and asking for help (true helpfulness, not just hoping someone figures it out).
I am so excited to share this episode with you, and I ask that you share this incredibly imperative conversation with anyone you know who will need this nudge and reminder to care for themselves alongside their new baby.
In this episode: * What are the biggest ways you can care for yours postpartum self? * How can others help and support you during postpartum? * What is a padsicle? :-p * Why is it important to take good care of yourself during postpartum? * How long before you can get back to the gym? * How soon is too soon to have sex postpartum? * What resources are there for women during postpartum? * What is a postpartum doula and what do they do? * How can you work with Jenna Wilson? * ...and more!

After recording episode 11 on Jen's personal experience having three natural childbirths at home, we felt there was a lot left to be said...from an expert. There were a lot of questions from our listeners about the details of what a midwife does, as well as what a natural birth can look like from the perspective of the birth worker.
We were lucky enough to interview Jen's midwife Jenna Wilson, who was there to deliver all three of Jen's children at home. Jenna was a perfect fit for the podcast because she not only has the experience as a midwife, but she was a doula before going on to be a midwife as well.
In this episode with Jenna you will learn: * Jenna's origin story and how she found herself in the birthwork field * Doula vs Midwife? What do they each do and how are they different? * The best questions to ask a midwife when looking for one...from a midwife's perspective! * What to look for in a midwife * What is your process when a new mom comes in? What can they expect in a natural childbirth setting versus a hospital setting? * Do you assist in a hospital? * What happens if you’re planning on a homebirth and you need to transfer? * Do you still work with the mom in the case of a transfer? * What sorts of natural support do you offer during labor?
We enjoyed speaking with Jenna so much that we decided to do a part 2 next week, diving specifically deeper into the topic of postpartum care. So stay tuned for next week!

In this episode of the Millennial Pioneers Podcast, we are so excited to be interviewing Casey Pfeifer about permaculture. As I discussed this upcoming interview with my husband one morning and what exactly I would ask Casey about permaculture, my sweet 8-year-old son Bennett innocently asked from across the room...
"What is permaculture?" Yes... let's start there.
What is permaculture, and why is it so incredibly important for us to learn about it and start implementing now. Why it is important for us to take responsibility for our own lives, and to be able to think far enough ahead about the lives of our children.

In this episode you will learn: * What is permaculture? * Why haven't we heard much about permaculture? * What is a tangible example of permaculture in action? * Why is it countercultural/relevant to this podcast? * Can permaculture work for anyone? * What if I have no land? Very little land? In this episode we dive deep into all the questions you may have about chiropractic as someone curious about what exactly chiropractors do, and why it is super important for your health journey.
Here are a few things we go over in this episode: * What led Dr. Nick to want to become a chiropractor * What is chiropractic? What does a chiropractor do? * How is chiropractic different from the mainstream health model? * Do the two models work together? * Who can benefit from chiropractic? * Sammy and Jen share a little about their experiences with chiropractic * How does Dr. Nick see chiropractic fitting into people’s health journey? * If someone is curious about chiropractic, what should they look for when trying to find a practitioner? * How to work with Dr. Nick no matter where you live! * Weird things that happen to the body after getting adjusted (ha!)

In this episode of the Millennial Pioneers Podcast, Sammy will be interviewing Jen about her experiences (all very different) of birthing her three children at home naturally...yes homebirth, folks.
This is a very near and dear topic to me, as I have found that women freely share scary stories of hard births, but I find women shying away from telling their positive birth stories in fear of the "good for you" energy coming back to them.
I feel this isn't serving us well, ladies.
The more fear we hear, the more fear we have... and the harder it can become to have a normal, healthy birth process naturally.
So I really want to start telling more positive birth stories, and hearing more of them...how about you?
This is not to discount the hard, even traumatic birth stories, not one little bit. Those were very real and scary situations... but this is to say "let's start telling the positive stories, too" to even out the balance a bit. Because even though you may not hear a ton of positive stories, there are so many of them. There are some incredibly beautiful stories out there... and I really encourage you to start here, but then dig deeper into podcasts, books, and through word of mouth of all the incredible stories that are out there as well.

In this episode of the Millennial Pioneers Podcast, we are going to take a deep dive into values-based relocation, exploring our personal (and family) approaches to evaluating current and/or future living situations, and discuss how we both made the decisions to move out of CA! But this episode can apply to move out of any state...
We originally wanted to make the episode about leaving California, as a staggering 700,000+ people left California between April 2020 and July 2022. However, after thinking about it, I realized that with the huge uptick in the ability to work remotely from home, so many people, all over the country, are reassessing where they are living. People have the opportunity now to intentionally come to a decision or not of whether where they are currently living is still a good fit for them.
Choosing where to move, especially if it is out of state, can be such a daunting, stressful task. You're leaving everything you know and throwing a dart at the map. It can feel like that, for sure.
So we wanted to share with you the approaches that we took to make the big decision to move and to where... and trust me when I say, they are completely different approaches.
Find us on iTunes, Spotify, Audible, iHeartRadio, and if you’re loving it, please leave a rating and review so others like you can find us!
In this episode of Values-Based Relocation you'll hear: * Why are millennial moving so much? * Why did we decide to move? * Our individual and unique approaches to coming to a decision * How Sammy is feeling about moving in just a few days * Does Jen have any regrets thus far?

In this episode, we are talking about Intentional Living! Have you been curious about sustainable/intentional/regenerative lifestyles? So have we! We’re going to share our WHYs for even getting into this world in the first place, discuss our experiences (both positive AND negative), and wrap up with ‘our’ most valuable intentional living projects (which may be different from yours)!
If you found yourself trying to make sourdough bread over the pandemic or found yourself raising a flock of backyard chickens…this is for you. If you have tucked a little dream away in your heart for a slower pace of life, maybe a small homestead, to homeschool, or even just learn a new skill like learning how to cook from scratch… this episode is for you.
We tried to stay in our lane and keep the conversation to mostly our personal experiences, because the reality is, not all of you are going to have the same interests, or value for each and every way you could add more intention to your life.
So, when you listen to this, don’t hear this as a to-do list…but instead, as ideas that you could pick and choose from, to move in the direction of living slower, and with more intention.
xo,
Jen and Sammy

There are online schools using the best teachers in every subject under the sun that your child can learn from if a topic comes up that you feel you wouldn't be the best to educate him or her. I love Outschool.com * There are so many podcasts on homeschooling!

We recently discovered that March 19th is National Let's Laugh Day, and we couldn't let the day go by without celebrating.
If you've been listening to the show for any length of time, you know that we (Jen and Sammy) love to laugh. What you may not know is that our beloved audio technician/troll (his words, not ours) spends hours of his life editing the show and often removes laugh segments when they go too far...
Well, fortunately, all of those clips have been saved and compiled into today's bonus episode - we hope it makes you laugh as much as we do! Find us on iTunes, Spotify, Audible, iHeartRadio, and if you're loving it, please leave a rating and review so others like you can find us!

Are you feeling lonely right now? It's heartbreaking to think about, but so many people are, in our current times. In this episode, we are talking about RELATIONSHIPS! Specifically, we're going to break down an article that Jen saw this week in the Epoch Times called, "The Power of Connection: Close Relationships Are the Key to Health and Happiness" by Gregory Jantz, sharing our perspectives and stories.
The collective "feeling lonely right now" is, unfortunately, reaching epidemic levels all around the world. And the thing that really stood out to me is that it spans evenly across all races, ages, religions, etc. No one group of people seems to be lonelier than another.
So, what is going on? And more importantly...what can we do to move toward feeling more connected in a world that is more "connected" than ever, but lonelier than ever.
Find us on iTunes, Spotify, Audible, iHeartRadio, and if you're loving it, please leave a rating and review so others like you can find us!
In this episode we'll cover: * The premise of the article - why did we want to talk about this? * Is this a big problem for us personally? * The 7 tips the article covers to move away from loneliness and toward a deeper connection with others

One of my most favorite memories that I have of Sammy and me together was a night my little family and her little family shared a meal together in their home. Sammy and I made dinner with twinkle lights and candles everywhere. There was a warm fire in the wood stove. And french cafe music serenaded us through the speakers. We chopped and laughed (per the usual) as little two-year-old Bennett played at our feet. Then as our husbands came in from outside, we all sat and ate an amazing meal, laughing and sharing stories.
Sound idyllic, as if it were out of a story? It felt like that to me. I remember saying to Sammy, "buddy, this is your life!"
And would you believe that this idyllic story all took place within the walls of a tent?
Sammy and her partner Casey spent almost 3 years living in a tent on a beautiful farm in Ojai Valley, CA. In this episode, Sammy answers some of the most fundamental questions, while also sharing and painting a vivid picture of some of her best moments in the tent...and some of the worst.
You'll want to stick around to hear those.
In this episode we cover: * Basic logistics: what kind of tent, electricity, water, and where is the bathroom? * What sort of daily routine did you have in the tent that looked different than "normal life" * What that conversation went like when Casey asked Sammy to move into a tent * Different kinds of arguments you have when living in a tent * What was the best day? What were some of the worst? * What Sammy and Casey woke up to the sound of one morning, just outside their bedroom * and so much more...
Resources mentioned in the episode: * Here are so many amazing photos that Sammy shared with us from their time in the tent. Baby Bennett even made a cameo in a couple of them. But you can see some beautiful images of their setup and the gardens they created around them. * Casey and Sammy talk more about living in the tent on Casey's podcast The Sovereign Homestead. I'm so frustrated I didn't get around to mentioning Casey's podcast. But if you are interested in this lifestyle, his podcast is 100% a resource you want to have. Casey is one of the smartest people I have ever met and he's such a wealth of information. Check out his podcast. * More about Casey's work in permaculture design * Permaculture News, a great place to learn about and be inspired by permaculture * Casitas Valley Pastures - One of our farm friends now runs CVP, sustainable animal production in the Ojai valley (check them out if you’re in SB - they’re at the farmer’s markets) * The Biggest Little Farm movie- I loved this documentary so much. The cinematography was incredible. And it paints such a beautiful picture of how permaculture works while somehow being able to still appeal to the mainstream. Bravo...

Imagine this scenario for a moment: five people, three of them under the age of eight... RV living in 200 square feet.
Do you ever consider the lifestyle of full time RV living? Whether that "full-time" camping life is only a handful of months, or a lifestyle you're considering for the duration...has it crossed your mind?
This is exactly what Jen Araza (that's me) and her family considered doing after leaving California and adventuring out to find a new state to call home. She is going to answer all the questions she's been asked over time about their experience on the road for 4 months with five people in a 200 square foot travel trailer.
RV life is gaining serious attention. The 2020 North American Camping Report found that four in 10 campers are more interested in going full-time after the pandemic. One in 10 infrequent campers is considering full-time RVing. The report also found that travelers are eager to spend time outdoors with their friends and family. Also, 60% of travelers think it’s now critical for their kids to experience the great outdoors. The sentiment suggests a long-term growing interest in the RV lifestyle.
camperfaqs.com In this episode on tiny home living, we ask the questions: * Did we all go crazy being together in such a small space? * How did Nick and I stay intimate in such a small space? (the most often asked question!) * How we were able to drive 10,000 miles without our kids' using screens in the car (and why!) * How would we compare the expenses of living in RV for 4 months vs. living in a home? * What was the hardest and coolest parts of the trip? * What did we learn about ourselves and our family as a whole? * ...and so much more!
RV Living Resources * Harvest Hosts- I cannot express enough how much we truly loved all of our experiences with HH...cannot recommend them enough. * RV Life Pro- I would say that this is where we spent the vast majority of our limited internet time. This was what we used almost daily to look for our next place to stay. There is a WEALTH of information on this site about each site, the roads and whether they are safe for RVs or not, and things like dump sites. It's gold, and so worth the $59 a year! * Internet on the road- If you plan on working from the road, get Starlinkor another internet hot spot (but I was told by RVers constantly that Starlink performed the best) * Good Sam- another great way to save money on campsites. We used our Good Sam membership all the time! Every little bit adds up. * National Park Pass- this paid itself off in the first park visit or two. * KOA- we REALLY enjoyed checking out different KOAs. These campsites range from meh to amazing. They really are so much fun for kids as there is usually so much to do for kids on site.

Although this topic of social media addiction was one of the harder conversations to have right out of the gate with our second episode, it was one of the topics we were most passionate about getting started on.
There were some hard, very vulnerable things to say in this podcast. With risk of putting ourselves out there and possibly being judged, we felt it super important to be as vulnerable as possible, because we know to our core that we are not in alone in this.
We know this, because after even just touching on the conversation in blog posts, so many people have reached out and expressed their own concerns with their social media use, asking how to get out of it.
We hope this episode gives you some extra conviction to move away from social (if you want to, that is), lots of encouragement (we been there and are still there in so many ways!), and a few resources to get you started on your way!
In this episode on social media addiction, we cover: * How long the average social media user is on social each day? This was shocking to me! * Why our brains can’t begin to compete with social media * Our own personal social media stories and the shame stories that go along with them * The potential dark side of social * We touch on building a business without social media…hint: it can be done! * We end with giving you ideas to reduce your social media use and break bad habits
