Join Dana and Tom, two toy collectors and enthusiasts who enjoy talkin' about toys, toy culture and the people who comprise it. Take a seat, have a drink and join us won't you?
Sometimes toy collectors (or really, collectors of anything) may find themselves thinking to themselves “Why am I still collecting?” The question could come from anywhere for any reason and lead to any number of responses. In this episode Tom and Dana discuss why we still collect, maybe some doubts, and whether or not they’ve ever decided to throw in the towel.
When the stars of major franchises collide it’s almost always a sight to behold and with any luck, leads to some amazing toys you’d want on your toy shelf! In this episode Tom and Dana talk about Crossover toylines and how great (or sometimes not so great) they were.
Part 2 of our Cyborg discussion! When you’re half flesh and half machine you’re exactly what Tom and Dana want on our display shelves.
Half machine, half flesh and bone, what’s not to like about a deadly (or maybe super heroic) cyborg? In today’s episode Tom and Dana discus cyborg characters and why they always have that extra bit of appeal when it comes to their toy translations and collectability.
They slither, hiss and are covered in scales, reptiles are a delight in the real world and on our toy shelves! In this week's episode Tom and Dana discuss their favorite reptile toys!
Today Tom and Dana are discussing Boxsets, some of our favorites and least favorite, and asking the question-is a boxset better or worse than single figures?
From Vitruvian H.A.C.K.S to Popeye to Saurozoic Warriors, Boss Fight Studio has been a powerhouse in the toy collecting community for years! In today’s episode Tom and Dana discuss their wide range of offerings and how great their toys look on our shelves.
Venom is the character that pulled me headlong into comics, from the moment I laid eyes on this amazing character I knew I wanted a plastic version of him in the collection! In today’s episode Tom and Dana discuss Venom and how his popularity skyrocketed him to the plastic preferences of toy producers and toy collectors alike.
When you introduce a dragon into a toyline you know you’ve got a hit. Who doesn’t love a dragon?! In this episode Tom and Dana discuss their favorite dragons and where they like to pop up in the toy collections on our shelves!
When you think about the great towlines of the 80s and the companies that produced them, a company like Remco always seems to be on the outskirts of the conversation. In today’s episode Tom and Dana discuss the various toylines Remco was responsible for bringing to collectors as well as some of their lesser known products.
Continuing our discussion from last week, Tom and Dana discuss more smaller toy companies that have provided some of the most amazing toylines that grace our shelves.
Over the last few years we’ve seen a large number of smaller, independent toy companies rise up and fill a gap in the toy collecting world that might be left empty by the larger, more established companies. Today Tom and Dana discuss some of those companies and their impact on toy collectors as a whole.
Our discussion about weapons continues! There are so many iconic weapons that both complete and enhance certain characters, you can’t imagine a figure being offered without it! Today Tom and Dana discuss more of our favorite weapons and the characters that wield them!
One of the most striking parts of a lot of toylines wasn’t just the character, but the character’s signature weapon. In this episode Tom and Dana discuss the many weapons that may or may not have added that extra bit of appeal to a character and their toys.
At some point every toy collector has asked themselves this question. Do you have too many toys? Or maybe it was someone else posing the question. In today’s episode, Tom and Dana discuss how many is too many? Does it matter?
Don’t make us angry, you wouldn’t like us when… well, maybe you would like us when we’re angry, or when we’re talking about the Incredible Hulk and how much he’s meant to toys! Join Tom and Dana as we discuss everyone’s favorite ball of rage muscles and the toys he’s inspired.
Sometimes a toyline runs its course and comes to a close, but sometimes they don’t-they’re cut short before they could give us just one more wave of figures! In this episode Rom and Dana discuss towlines they would like to see continued beyond the releases we got.
From the TV to your toy shelf, was it Golden Girls or the A-Team… or did they even have a towline at all? In this episode Tom and Dana discuss sitcoms and their toylines!
Tally Hawk! Wings of silver, nerves of steel... (Silverhawks)!
Something something... Tigersharks!
You see it, you buy it… or maybe you didn’t buy it? The ole Impulse Buy… sometimes it leads to joy, and sometimes it bites you when you find a better deal.
In this episode Tom and Dana talk about the Impulse buy, something every collector has done.
As collectors we tend to have strong feelings about certain aspects of this hobby, with articulation usually being near the top of the list. In this episode, Tom and Dana discuss their personal articulation preferences and how that affects their collecting.
As collectors we tend to have strong feelings about certain aspects of this hobby, with articulation usually being near the top of the list. In this episode, Tom and Dana discuss their personal articulation preferences and how that affects their collecting.
Every collector everywhere has that drawer. The accessories drawer, baggies full of extra hands, weapons, heads, etc because you just never know when you’re going to need an extra ‘thwip’ hand for Spider-Man! In this episode Tom and Dana discuss accessories and why we love them… and sometimes hate them.
Happy holidays! In this episode Tom and Dana discuss the holidays and the toys that take on those themes as fun and collectible toylines!
Some of our earliest childhood memories are of eating cereal while watching Hanna Barbera toons on TV, but unfortunately we never seemed to see as many toys on the shelves as other franchises. In this episode Tom and Dana discuss Hanna Barbara cartoons and collectibles!
There was no way we were going to be able to summarize everything that made the 90s great in a single episode so we’re back for one more neon explosion of toy discussion!
When you think of the 90s bursting onto the scene you want to scream, whether or not that’s in a good way or a bad way depends on your experience! Today Tom and Dana discuss their experience with toys in the 90s, strap in and enjoy the ride
Water based toys and characters are kind of a weird thing. Where do you put them? Are the characters cool? In this episode Tom and Dana discuss figure youfind under the sea and maybe a little deeper…
Bugs are the things that make us instinctively recoil, but that primordial urge also doubles as fascination when it comes to the characters inspired by insects and how they appear as toys. In this episode Dana and Tom discuss bugs, love em or hate em, they’ve scuttled their way in some way shape or form into our collections.

Let’s talk about the creepy things that go bump in the night or roar and knock down your house!
The premiere superhero team has probably found their way onto the shelves of most collectors in some way shape or form. Today Tom and Dana discuss The Avengers!
It's something that I think all collectors eventually ask themselves. Should I still collect? In this episode Dana and Tom discuss the things that might lead to someone deciding to take a break from collecting or sometimes stop collecting altogether.
When you think of heroes, one of the first teams to come to mind are the Justice League! From Superman to Hawkman to Aquaman, I think if you collected figures from the 80s onward you probably had at least a few members of this super team on your shelves.

A lot of the allure of collecting is getting figures that look cool, but there is always that element of being able to identify at a glance with a particular figure. For a lot of African American collectors, figures that you could immediately identify with were far and few between. In this episode Tom and Dana discuss their experiences collecting African American figures/characters and how that has (or hasn’t) changed over the years.

Yoooo Joe!!It didn’t matter if you did or didn’t collect G.I.Joe, if you were familiar with the toy aisle in the 70s and beyond you know a thing or two about the toyline dedicated to A Real American Hero. I feel pretty confident in saying that most collectors that came up in the 90s had their fair share of Toybiz figures. From Batman to Spider-Man to Xena, Toybiz really covered a wide spectrum of toys that probably appealed to most of us in some way shape or form. In this episode Tom & Dana discuss their experience collecting Toybiz and its journey from basic 5 POA to its hyper-joint fixation in its later years. As always, we encourage you to join in the conversation and let us know what you think!Twitter - https://twitter.com/2guystalkintoysYoutube - https://www.youtube.com/@2guystalkintoys
This episode was recorded last week, but we wanted to take a moment to express that we are extremely saddened to have lost two greats in the wrestling world this week. Terry Funk and Bray Wyatt were taken from us too soon. Rest in Peace. From as far back as the current crop of collectors can remember, wrestling has been a staple in our lives and one of the main methods of play when we were younger. WWF, AWA, NWA, WCW, all these federations (and many more) probably produced a lot of influence on our imaginary conflict. Do you like surprises?Since the earliest days of collecting, toy companies have been smart to let kids/parents/collectors know what’s in the pipeline. Over the years their methods of doing so have evolved from announcing new product via commercials, to back of the package “coming soon” ads, to the current practice of announcing items that are literally just on the “To do” list.
