The LSE Real Estate Club podcast aims to record informal conversations with real estate professionals as well asm, academics in the urban economic field. The LSE Real Estate Club consists of individuals studying their masters in real estate economics and finance at the London school of economics. In summary, we are individuals pursuing a career in the real estate industry in the short term. In the long-term a few of us want to purse a personal property portfolio of our own. Therefore, the podcast aims to attract these individuals who are interested in real estate as a profession and the academic side.
This fourth episode entails a conversation with Raoul Malhotra. Raoul is a founding partner of Orka Investments. Orka Investments is a Pan-European Alternative Investment and Advisory firm which currently invests in three main strategies: Social Infrastructure, Mixed-Use Urbanisation and Special Situations Some topics that we cover are: how Orka Investments was formed, a recent partnership with Bain Capital on an acquisition of a hotel in Mayfair, how to make the most out of networking sessions and tips for preparing a pitch to potential investors.
The third episode entails a conversation with Paul Cheshire - one of the first Urban Economists in the UK and the founder of the REEF programme. Paul talks about a range of topics from how he came to create the REEF programme and its purpose, his experience of the financial crisis' in the 70s and in 2008 as well as, a new emerging market in securitised loans on "super-yachts".
The second episode entails a conversation with Jack Albert. Jack is a Real Estate Investment Analyst at Triology Real Estate Asset Management. He graduated from the REEF programme in 2019 and has been working for Triology for a year and a half. We discuss his experience of the REEF programme, his role and general interview advice for securing an analyst role.
