On this day 80 years ago, nearly 160,000 Allied troops landed in Normandy, France. It was unprecedented in scale and audacity, using the largest-ever armada of ships, troops, planes and vehicles to punch a hole in Adolf Hitler’s defenses in western Europe and change the course of World War II.

Bob Sirott took time throughout the morning to reflect on this monumental date, and the impact it had on world history. He spoke with Dean Richards about recommended D-Day films and documentaries, as well as Jon Hansen about just how unbelievable the story of June 6, 1944 really is.
