Could you imagine a soldier going into a situation like this without his body armor, boots, kevlar, or weapon? Well the reality is that even now, we are engaged in a much more profound spiritual war that is raging all around us. But God has given us his strength and has thoroughly equipped us with the whole armor of God. In this passage, Paul’s imagery is drawn from the prophecy of Isaiah. You see, it is God’s own armor, which he and his Messiah have worn, that is now provided for his people as they engage in spiritual warfare.
