According to the analysis of the Economic Policy InstituteCurrent Population Survey (CPS) data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, theimmigrant shares of the labor force reached a record high of 18.6% in 2023.Anti-immigration advocates have been vocal, using this statistic to supportmisguided arguments suggesting that "immigrants are taking all ourjobs."
The reality, however, is that the economy is not static; itis growing and adding jobs for both immigrants and U.S.-born workers.
