Well this is it, after 3 1/2 years, about 70 episodes, hundreds of thousands of words researched and written, it's time to wrap up the Assorted Goods Podcast. Joining Dan to look back on the podcast is fellow podcaster and producer Jeff Feightner, who has heard Dan waffle over the decision to move on, or keep going about 50 times.

Back at the start of Covid, I had teacher, football coach, and a good friend of mine Carlo Trentadue on the podcast to talk about the challenges of teaching at a time like this. Now, 2 years later and as we return to a "new normal", Carlo has come back to talk more about digital literacy, having a keen eye for quality information, navigating 'social norms' online, and so much more.

Almost a decade ago, the National Football League pushed through a scandal involving the effects of the sport of the brains of its athletes. After years of denials and obstruction, the NFL settled a lawsuit in 2013 to provide healthcare benefits to its former players to treat their cognitive issues. The problem? It turns out the league actively used racist medical ideologies to make it harder for Black former players to receive their fair share of the settlement. And once again, the league scrambles to deny, cover up, and move on from this story.

Over 100 years ago, 35 blocks of an all-black neighborhood in a major American city was burned to the ground. But for all the years since, the Tulsa Massacre of 1921 has been mostly forgotten. How did the worst incident of racial violence in American history get ignored? How did it even happen to begin with?
In part 1, a look at the story of the city of Tulsa, the state of Oklahoma, and the mixture of events that led to the riot in 1921. Lies, racism, corrupt police, the power of media, and how the past is never easily forgotten.
