Unless you teach your dog boundaries and what you want them to do instead of rushing the door, your dog will never learn proper manners. I know that a LOT of you deal with your dog barking at every noise and how frustrating it can be to have him barking non-stop in your ear! One of the most common questions I get is “My dog barks and lunges at other dogs, what can I do?” This is a common behavioral issue in dogs called “reactivity”. Training your dog to come to you when called is arguably the most important command you can teach them! I talk a lot about the basics of this command in other podcasts but once you have a basic recall base (your dog comes when called with no distractions), one of the most important things to do to take your dog’s obedience to the next level is to ensure that you’re practicing with distractions so that you’re prepared for real life scenarios! In this clip, I go over a simple exercise with one of my clients that can be practiced inside to achieve recall with distractions! If you enjoyed this episode, PLEASE don't forget to subscribe and leave a rating/review! Thank you my loves!!

One of the biggest objections I get about my training style is something along the lines of “that dog is only listening because you have food” or “you shouldn’t use treats to train a dog”. One of the first practical tips I recommend to my clients to incorporate obedience training throughout their day is training their dog to “wait” before going out the front door. Not only is it a great way to calm down your dog who’s pulling to barge through the door but also to set the right tone for your walk by having your dog focus on YOU as soon as he gets outside instead of getting zoned in on all of the distracting sounds and sights of the outside world. In this clip, I walk one of my clients through this training process. If you enjoyed this episode, PLEASE don't forget to subscribe and leave a rating/review! Thank you my loves!!
