Pride and arrogance make noise without substance. In Scripture, we see that God resists the proud but gives favour to those who humble themselves. When we elevate ourselves, we lift ourselves out of the protection of God and become a target for the enemy to devour. Therefore, we should be sober-minded so that our confidence can match the level of our understanding without being inflated by pride.
