God in the Everyday–Fr Mike Delaney–It’s Raining (Fr Mike remembers the regular letter writing between his mother and aunt and how his Aunt Marg used rainy days productively to contact extended family members. He wonders what we might have learnt through Covid lockdowns to use restricted activity to our advantage. He observes that some people were like his Aunty Marg and were highly productive in maintaining friendships while others felt lost, overwhelmed, and isolated. Even now with Covid restrictions gone, it’s still easy to feel isolated and lost. Mike urges us with our many smart devices and multiple social media platforms to create some downtime to do some modern-day letter writing and reach out to family and friends and give them a word of encouragement and support.)
