One of the major economic battles of our interconnected world has to do with the production of semiconductor chips. Last year, when passing the CHIPS act, major subsidies were added to increase our domestic production of semiconductors. Many lawmakers supported this move as a way to counter China's own subsidized chip production. But signs coming out of China show that their subsidies to produce these chips is not having the intended effect. Eric Boehm from Reason Magazine talks about the pitfalls with subsidized production of these products and warn that America should heed the warning signs and not follow in China's footsteps.
