There has been a lot of controversy in recent months about the United States funding "gain of function" research--where viruses are made more deadly--at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Some have argued that COVID-19 was an engineered virus that escaped from the lab. Representative Chris Stewart is co-sponsoring a bill to ban that research in certain foreign countries.
