In book of James, James admonishes us to love without favoritism… without discrimination. Sometimes James’ tone, at least in my mind, has a harshness to it that can sometimes cause me to read his writing as though he is angry with everyone and therefore is quite demanding in his approach, but in fact, I believe this admonition is a passionate call to consideration and care, that what underlies all that James is saying is actually a matter of kindness… that girding up James call is love expressed through kindness… that love is, that we be, kind .... broken pieces, brought together by God's gracious and skillful hands to make something beautiful.
