As the children of Israel are on their way out of Egypt, they camped at the edge of the wilderness at a place called Etham. Moses makes note of the fact that the pillar of cloud lead them by day and it was also a pillar of fire to give light by night. The LORD Himself was in the pillar of cloud and fire.

The deliverance from the army of Pharaoh is next as the Israelites are caught in what appears to be a trap between the army and the Red sea.
