Welcome to The Winsome Creationist, where we explore God’s world using a model-building approach, interact with a gracious tone, and take a firm stand on the literal truth of creation found in God’s Word. Join host Steve Schramm and occasional guests as they explore the mysteries and majesties from creation to the flood, babel to the cross, and everywhere in between.
Creationists have far too long been focused on the wrong questions. If we spend all of our time demanding answers from God, instead of openly exploring his creation, we will craft answers that satisfy our doubts rather than expand our thinking about who God really is and what he is trying to do.
Was Adam real or just an archetypal figure that we can refer to as a character of literature, but who never really lived? That question is at the forefront of many people's minds today. Some people think that we're even reading Adam back into Genesis from our own modern worldview. In this video, we're going to discuss that and see if it holds up to historical scrutiny.
There is promising creation research happening across many disciplines, but more resources and education are needed to advance these fields further. I was encouraged by the caliber of researchers and young people I saw at the conference! Tune into this episode to hear some of my biggest points and takeaways from the conference.
In this episode, I discuss the claim that distant starlight poses a problem for a young creationist view. I answer a listener's question about passages that say God "stretched out the heavens."
I argue there are important considerations when interpreting these poetic passages. Overall, I advocate a non-concordist, phenomenological reading of such poetic passages, rejecting a literal concordist view that maps Bible verses to modern cosmology. I stress interpreting the Bible consistently, using evidence from other creationist arguments about genre and interpretation. Enjoy the show!
In this episode, we examine the question of whether believing in supernatural creation does away with the need for science. Some argue that if God created the world miraculously, then scientific study is pointless. However, we argue that believing in creation actually provides the inspiration and foundation for scientific discovery.
We discuss the possibility that God may have altered the laws of physics during historical events like the flood. While recognizing this is significant, we assert that God has full sovereignty over his creation. However, this does not invalidate scientific inquiry - it makes it more exciting as we seek to discover God's work.
The Bible gives us an accurate historical account but not all the details of "how" creation happened. Science can help fill in those details. While we may get some details wrong, we stand assured in the truth of Scripture's "what" happened. As Christians exploring and caring for God's world, we get to search out the world God created, honoring him through our study.
In the end, believing God created the world means we must believe he can change it - as long as he does not violate his own nature or break his promises. Having faith in Christ includes having faith that he performed the impossible act of creation. Let's go explore the world our Creator made.
In this episode, I speak with computational engineer Dr. Ticho Tenev about his proposed solution to the distant starlight problem from a young earth creation perspective. His paper was coauthored by Drs. John Baumgardner and Mark Horstemeyer.
Ticho walks us through special relativity and how it relates to the distant starlight problem. He then explains his proposed solution of Creation Time Coordinates which posits that during the creation week, God established time zones in space that allowed starlight to reach Earth on Day 4. Ticho discusses how his solution compares to other young earth creation models like Jason Lisle's ASC model. We also discuss the importance of understanding design and purpose in science and how secular science is missing this key component.
This was an informative discussion on relativity, cosmology and finding solutions to perceived conflicts between science and Scripture.

Dinosaurs are seemingly the mascot of naturalistic evolutionism. It's hard for people to imagine how God could have created such creatures, never mind having created them alongside man just 6,000 years ago! In this episode, creationist professor and paleontologist, Dr. Matt McLain, helps us understand dinosaurs from within a biblical paradigm. Did they have feathers? If so, does that mean they evolved into birds? What does dino poop have to do with it? We cover all these questions and more in this episode!
