Welcome back to Kaila’s Craft Corner with Future In Sight! In today’s episode, Kaila Allen shows us how to create lovely heart art to decorate our home for Valentine’s Day. First, Kaila walks us through the steps of creating a tactile rustic wall hanging using a wooden round, small wooden squares, wooden circles, a fancy burlap heart, a red velvet paper heart & the word “love” sentiment. Welcome back to Kailas Craft Corner with Future In Sight! In today’s episode, Kaila Allen tells us the basics of air dry clay. We learn how to make a pinch pot and she touches on how to make a coil pot.

Supply List:

• Crayola Air Dry Clay
• Waxed Paper or silicone mat
• Plastic fork or knife
• Small bowl of water
• Salt Dough Recipe:
• 2 cups all purpose flour
• 1 cup salt
• 1 cup warm water

Optional ingredients:

• Food coloring
• Scented oils

Mix together the dry ingredients (flour and salt). Add warm water a little bit at a time, being careful to not add too much and make the dough too sticky. The dough should be moist enough to hold together into a ball, but not so sticky that it leaves residue on your hands.

To dry out your clay, place the pieces on a baking sheet and turn over every few hours until the clay is fully dry. Optional: add color with scented markers or watercolor.

Or, set your oven to 200 degrees F and bake for 2 - 4 hours, turning the pieces each hour until dry.

First we learn to make Indian corn using tan pipe cleaners, maroon, white, yellow & orange pony beads. Next, we learn to make a pumpkin using orange pipe cleaners, orange pony beads & a green pipe cleaner for the stem. Thirdly we make a yarn ghost using white yarn, white tissue paper & two black pony beads. And finally we make a scary spider using a black pom-pom & black pipe cleaner halves.

Step 1: Tie your keychain hook right into the middle of the string

Step 2: You will now bead the first line of the pattern below on one string and row 2 on to the second string.

Step 3: Take the string from row 1 and string it backwards through the second row of beads. You should have a string coming from both sides of this row now. So your first row of beads will have one string through it, but your second will have 2 strings through it. Then pull tight

Step 4: String the 3rd row of beads onto the string that is on the same side as the key chain. Take the other string and thread it back through the opposite way of the last row and pull tight. For the rest of the flag simply follow this step for each of the following rows, being sure to put the beads on the string that is on the same side as the key chain.

Step 5: To finish your flag you may tie the string next to the last bead on each end and cut your string. If you do this be sure the knot is large enough to hat the beads can not slide off of it. I like to take the ends of the string and bring them over the first bead and then back threw 3 or 4 beads then cutting the string, this can be done on both sides.

Here is the bead pattern for the flag: R = Red B = Blue W = White.
