Jesus told the Samaritan woman He met at Jacob's well that the Father is looking for those who would worship Him in spirit and truth.
What does that mean? In this message I provide some insight into that.
This is a message written as a prelude or preface to my book "GALATIANS Freedom from Religious Slavery."
It's entitled "A Religionist Finds the True Gospel" and discusses the conversion and calling of the Apostle Paul and helps us see why he is uniquely perfect for authoring Galatians, an epistle about the difference between religion and relationship with God.
We all face adversity. It's inexorably linked with eternal glory. Through Paul, Holy Spirit shows us how in 2 Corinthians Chapter 4.
This is such good and glorious news.
What the Hebrew Scriptures of the Old Testament tell us about the Lord Jesus is astounding.
Let's look at some of it!
The Scriptures are clear about judgment and salvation, but if we read verses and passages without context we find ourselves confused and uncertain.
Romans 2:5-16 is one such example and in this case we really need a sketch of the first three chapters of the letter to the Romans to know what Paul is doing.
Why did God tell Moses to strike the rock one time, but speak to the Rock at another time?
Jesus is awesome and in this episode we take a look at some of the ways He is special. What He tells us about God is astounding.
Is God's forgiveness conditional base on our forgiveness of others? Jesus seems to have said so, but then we never find the idea mentioned again.
Let's walk through a parable or two and see if we can figure out what's going on.
What does it mean to live by faith and not by sight? How does it affect our daily lives? In this s episode I discuss all that and I think you'll come to agree that faith is nonsense.
This chapter of Scripture contains some things that some have twisted to mean something they simply do not. Suicide is not the unforgivable sin. I'll cover the entire chapter and show the reason that interpretation is impossible.

Peter denied even knowing Jesus. It was no momentary lapse. He did it three times in one night.
But later, he and Jesus have a very interesting interaction where Peter is corrected by Jesus.
We can gain some insight from this into the way we should expect the Spirit to correct us, and it's wonderful.

In this second and final part of our discussion on expressing Christ in everyday life, we will look deeply at the practical application of this concept. We'll talk about good works, how to know what is tight and good, and how to put it into practice by resting.
This two-part series begins in part 1 by seeing that Christ is in Us, we are in Christ and in Him are other things we need to live the Christ Life.

Paul begins teaching us the doctrine that will underpinned his coming practical applications. In this, we sit.

We'll see how Paul begins with doctrine, telling us what Father has done in and for us, and only with that firmly established does he progress to more practical matters that flow from that.

I preached this a couple of years ago, but just added to it and preached it again. There is tremendous good news for those of us who fail, falter, and faint. When we doubt God's love for us, we can find faith strengthening truth in what God says about Himself and about us.

This is such a rich passage and by the end we're carried into the glory of the Lord.
Grace and Spiritual Fruit
Finishing Galatians Chapter 5, learn that we are not under the law, but under grace and we discover some of the beautiful ramifications of that. How can we know the Spirit is in us and we are in the Spirit? How do we bear spiritual fruit?
We are not tasked with revealing deeper knowledge leading to great spiritual maturity. We need not master convoluted doctrines and back them up with unassailable logic. On the contrary, as ministers of the New Covenant, we do not need to have an agenda with people. Rather,
we are called to present the Good News of Jesus Christ as we have opportunity and then to simply leave the outcome to the Lord.
Stymied growth is the natural outcome of religious rule-keeping because it takes the focus off the True Source who energizes us and turns it toward our own performance. This is not where life is found.
Obeying the truth is not adherence to a list of rules, edicts, or laws. Obeying the truth is living by faith. It is entrusting our wellbeing to God. It is taking God at His word.
We do ourselves a disservice when we as moder-day believers read the word "law" and think only of the 613 ordinances handed down by Moses.
Like some of you, I spent years living life on a spiritual rollercoaster of failure, groveling, and rededication. The result was that I remained spiritually immature and ineffective.

The Good news is that the Light is the great gift of God to the world. In this episode we will see the incredible thread of the promise of Light and it's fulfillment in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Galatians 4:21-31
Over and over we hear the refrain “he who has ears, let him hear.” Willingness to hear or rebellious refusal. These are the choices we must all make. This part of Galatians shows the good news that it is not our obedience to the rules, rites, and rituals of religion, but willingness to listen to God and trust Him.

In this episode we learn about a beautiful enslavement, God knowing you knowing God, relational ministry, and misplaced zeal.
Continuing our study of Galatians brings us to chapter 4. This time we learn the true meaning of baptism and how it relates to being clothed with Christ and the white robes in The Revelation.

As we continue studying Galatians the status of the Law as compared to the promise of God comes into stark relief. In this episode, we learn the importance of the Law having been delivered by a mediator and we see how good the Good News really is.
Abraham, Covenants, Law, and Faith
All these topics are covered in a few verses in Galatians Chapter 3. The glorious truth that sets us free is uncovered as Paul uses the Hebrew Scriptures (the Old Testament) to make his points about Religion and Relationship.
Paul’s emotionally charged message to the Galatians saints is that it’s foolish to think that religious practices have any value in providing salvation, righteousness, or ongoing acceptance by God.

The more we trust God, the more we act like we trust God. But what is trust? Is He trustworthy? Trust gives legs to faith.
The depth and breadth, and height, and width of the love of God cannot be fully grasped while we remain in this temporal realm. Even so, we can get a taste of its magnificence.
