In a candid social media post, award-winning indie artist Michael Botte shared two powerful truths: music serves as his therapy, and like every independent musician, he's driven by the fundamental desire to be heard.
In today's crowded indie music landscape, breaking through the noise has never been more challenging. How do artists maintain their passion and perseverance when the odds seem stacked against them? What innovative strategies and resources are available to help independent musicians connect with their audiences? And perhaps most importantly, how do working artists balance the demands of creating, promoting, and managing their careers while still finding time to live their lives?
Join me as I sit down with Michael Botte to explore these essential questions that every indie artist faces. From his recent chart-topping success with "Beautiful Day" to his exciting venture into sync licensing, Michael opens up about the realities of independent music-making, the power of small victories, and the determination it takes to keep pushing forward in an industry that can feel impossibly vast.
This is a conversation every independent artist—and anyone who loves supporting indie music—will want to hear.

Meet Indie Artist Rob Harrowven
In this episode, we sit down with Rob Harrowven, a retired Clinical Scientist in Audiology turned indie musician from Norwich, England. After spending years in London, Rob has returned to his hometown, where he enjoys a peaceful life creating music, reading, walking, hitting the gym, and supporting his local football team.
Rob's musical influences stem from his teenage years in the 70s, including bands like Status Quo, Bachman Turner Overdrive, Supertramp, Mott the Hoople/Ian Hunter, and Slade. The experience sparked his creativity, leading to his debut album "Hackney Days" released in November 2023, which included five songs written during his teenage years.
Rob describes his sound as a mixture of upbeat tracks and ballads, both guitar and keyboard-based. His music has been characterized as 80's rock, indie rock, alternative rock, post-punk, and electronic, though he emphasizes that his compositions are simple and always "composed from the heart."
For the Wednesday Rally, Rob chose his song "Out in the Cold," the title track from his latest album. He was deeply moved by the positive comments and support from the indie community, which he says "means everything" to him. **Christina Betts, a photographer from Delaware and owner of Willowed Moon Photography, shares her journey and experiences in a podcast interview. Christina expresses her passion for the Pacific Northwest and Ireland as dream locations for photography due to their natural beauty.
She mentions her love for sunrises and the twilight "Blue Hour" due to their tranquility. Initially named Christina Brasch Photography, she rebranded to Willowed Moon Photography after a creative process involving selecting words from books. Christina describes her artistic inclination since childhood, acknowledging that while she wasn't naturally skilled in art, she pursued photography from middle school and committed to it in high school. Although she tried college, she found it unaffordable and unsustainable, choosing to learn photography independently through high school foundation and mentorship in wedding photography.
Christina's style evolved to focus on warm, earthy tones that seek to capture her clients' true personalities, and although she remains open to all photography opportunities, she is especially fond of creatively-themed shoots like Halloween. Her business is inclusive and welcomes clients of all backgrounds, and she plans to expand Willowed Moon Photography with more travel shoots and an updated website.**

Kare, together with her husband Christian, this dynamic duo's love story flourished amidst the kennels of an animal shelter, guiding them through the whirlwind of family life and the bold step of taking on Second Chance Ranch Rescue in Felton, Delaware. Our latest episode travels through the heart of their mission: to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals, a journey that has woven together the fabric of their family and community.
Kara recounts the emotional rollercoaster of purchasing their dream property, the joy of welcoming their second child amidst the chaos, and the daily dance of managing a bustling rescue farm. With stories that both warm the heart and shed light on tougher realities, we celebrate the transformative journeys of their rescued animals—like Sparkles who's touched many lives, and Gunner, the visually impaired gelding seeking his special forever home. It's a tale of compassion, community, and the kind of determination that sees fences mended and pastures built, ensuring each animal's tale has a hopeful chapter ahead.
Our conversation also recognizes the unsung heroes of animal rescue: the community. Volunteers, donors, and friends—they're the lifeblood that allows Second Chance Ranch Rescue to thrive. From firsthand accounts of the emotional challenges rescuers face to the joyous outcomes of their hard work, we unpack the essence of what keeps the ranch's heart beating. Looking forward to the open house and other fundraising events, we invite listeners to step into this world where every act of kindness matters, and where the peace brought by these second chances echoes far beyond the rescue's boundaries.

My guests are Naomi Girke of Bowtie Atticus Organization and Jennifer Estelle of B & Let Liv Project. Naomi and Jennifer are the hardest-working champions of animal rescues and animal welfare.
This podcast discusses critical issues such as BSL, breed-specific legislation, animal welfare, spaying and neutering, and more.
BSL, also known as breed-specific legislation, is an ordinance that restricts ownership of certain identified breeds of dogs. And sadly, only 127 US cities and towns have repealed BSL.
Most of BSL does focus on the pit bull type dog. It doesn't focus on... responsible ownership or responsible ownership. It discriminates against responsible owners and dogs who might fit that breed bias.
BSL, we believe what is happening to pit bull-type dogs is not just an animal issue but very much a direct reflection of a broken society.
So much more to learn. Tune in and listen to the complete podcast.

I sat down with Linda Willimer of the Delaware Chapter of I Support the Girls. Listen to how I Support the Girls got started, how Linda started one of the New Jersey Chapters, and how Linda started the Delaware Chapter.

Traci B, a 14yr paranormal investigator & Tracy Ann, a psychic medium, unite evidence & intuition.
What is a psychic medium?
A psychic medium is able to connect with spirit through several ways: seeing in the mind's eye (clairvoyance), hearing (clairaudience), a sense of knowing (claircognizance), or feeling (clairsentience). With practice and mindful awareness, each one of us is able to connect to loved ones in spirit. This is an innate quality of our soul and each of us has psychic ability!
What is paranormal investigation?
Paranormal investigating is the process of investigating locations that are reported to be haunted, or have paranormal activity. Typically an investigation will consist of a team of individuals working together to collect evidence of paranormal activity. These individuals will employ the use of several types of tools and equipment to scientifically measure and record findings.
Together Tracy Ann and Traci B. have united their distinct abilities to help those seeking answers to paranormal activity. Tracy Ann and Traci B. met coincidentally during a yoga class that Tracey Ann was attending and Traci B. was leading, but was it really coincidental or did the spirits know what they were doing? They have many things in common that give them both a deeper understanding and pull Traces of Spirit together.
I hope you enjoy this episode of Women Entrepreneurs Spotlight and find out about Traces of Spirit's first investigation as a team! I asked them what their most memorable moment has been for them individually, listen to the podcast to find out what their answers were and so much more.

Nicki grew up in Chadds Ford, PA with three sisters. Her love for animals started at a young age. Her parents had chickens, horses, rabbits, and other animals and Nicki helped take care of them all. Even though she would doodle and draw when she was young, she didn't really realize her passion for drawing animals until she was in her 20s.
Nicki is a self-taught artist. She loves to work with pen, pencil, and charcoal. Each of her drawings has a unique personality of its own. Her latest passion to draw is the Shoebill Stork. Most of Nicki's drawings are black and white, she does a few that incorporate color. We talked about black-and-white art vs color. Nicki felt that by doing her drawings in black and white, you could give the drawing your own meaning. Filling it with your own story of color, giving it life as you see it.
Nicki has several events coming up in 2023. Nicki's website is www.nicsterart.com and if you would like to buy any of the prints you see on Nicki's website, you can contact her through her website on the contact page. Her website is being redesigned, so please keep checking her website for updates.
