Welcome back to another episode of Global China Today, this is your host Amanda and Xin. As Boris Johnson steps down, the race to become the next Prime Minister of the UK intensifies between Rishi Sunak, ex-chancellor of Exchequer and Liz Truss, ex-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs. One aspect of the debate brought our attention: the two candidates’ opposing views on how the UK ought to handle UK-China relations.
Carrying on from the previous episode, we will now dive into the financial aspects of the BRI and picking apart the way the BRI has been conducted. We will ask the question of whether the BRI is able to continue sustainably in regard to financing the project and its impacts.

In recent years, one particular degree really caught our attention:the Marxism degree. Usually, students with such postgraduate degrees did not have many career options open to them as this can be a rather niche major, at least this was the case before Xi became president in 2012 when china emphasised more on economic development rather than ideological correctness. However, in recent years, demand for Marxism degree graduates is rising in china.

Over the past few years, international travelling has been difficult. The main reason is the zero tolerance policy in China, which caused the tickets back to China to be absolutely luxuries. While the EU has decided to put the pandemic to an end by allowing free entries from the rest of the world, China did play some direct replies, but flights are still rare and tickets are still dear. In addition, the quarantine policy back in China was absolutely increasingly strict.
