Hi everyone!
I’m really excited to be a part of Week 233 in this amazing music community!
The theme for this week is Zodiac, and I’ve chosen to sing "Wait a Minute!" by Willow Smith.
This song has a dreamy and fun vibe, and it’s all about taking a pause, looking at yourself, and thinking about your place in the world. I felt it connected to the zodiac theme because, like zodiac signs, it talks about self-reflection and the changes we all go through as we grow.
I hope you enjoy my entry! I’ve loved listening to everyone’s songs so far and can’t wait to hear more this week. Thanks for stopping by, and I’ll see you all next week! 🌟
Lyrics
Wait a minute
I think I left my conscience on your front doorstep
Woah-oh, woah-oh
Wait a minute
I think I left my consciousness in the sixth dimension
But I'm here right now (right now), right now (right now)
Just sitting in a cloud, oh-wow
I'm here right now (right now), right now with you, oh-wow, oh-wow
I don't even care
I'll run my hands through your hair
You wanna run your fingers through mine
But my dreads too thick and that's alright
Hold on, wait a minute
Feel my heart's intention, oh
Hold on, wait a minute
I left my consciousness in the sixth dimension
Left my soul in his vision
Let's go get it, ah, ah
Let's go get it, ah, ah
Some tings don't work
Some tings are bound to be
Some tings, they hurt
And they tear apart me
You left your diary at my house
And I read those pages
Do you really love me, baby?
Some tings don't work
Some tings are bound to be
Some tings, they hurt
And they tear apart me
But I broke my word
And you were bound to see
And I cried at the curb
When you first said, "Oel ngati kameie"
Hold on, wait a minute
Feel my heart's intention, oh
Hold on, wait a minute
I left my consciousness in the sixth dimension
Left my soul in his vision
Let's go get it, ah, ah
Let's go get it, ah, ah
Some people like to live
Some just tryin' to get by
Some people like that hurt, ooh
Some just rather say goodbye, bye
Hold on, wait a minute
Feel my heart's intention, oh
Hold on, wait a minute
I left my consciousness in the sixth dimension
Left my soul in his vision
Let's go get it, ah, ah
Let's go get it, ah, ah

Hello Vibes Family,
It feels so great to back! I haven't been available because of my final exams but now I am back and almost a graduate!!!🤗🤗
This week I decided to step out of my comfort zone and do something I haven't done here before—rap.
Yes, I know, crazy, right? Most of you know me as a singer, but last night I decided to write a rap song, which is going to be the first original song i dropped on this community.
I thought about polishing it up and making it sound "perfect," but then I realized I loved it raw, just as it came to me.
The song is called Life Happens. It's inspired by some of the tough things I've seen happening around me recently. Sometimes life throws things at us, and it hurts, but in the end, it's just life happening.
In the chorus, I say, "I hope one day the sun will shine, I pray one day the sun will shine." That line hits deep for me because it's a reminder that, no matter what, brighter days are ahead.
This is me, stepping into something new, something scary, and I hope you guys feel the rawness and realness in it. It's not perfect, but that's okay because it's real. Hope you enjoy it 🩷🩷.

This week’s theme, "The Power of Kiss," brought back some really special memories for me. I chose to sing Shania Twain’s "When You Kiss Me," a song that’s been close to my heart ever since my sister introduced it to me. I remember those days vividly—my sister and I just vibing together, and me singing my heart out to this song. Every time I sing it now, it feels like I’m reliving those moments all over again.Shania Twain has a way of capturing emotions that hit deep, and while "You’re Still The One" will always be my top pick, "When You Kiss Me" just does something extra for me. I’m really excited to share my take on it with all of you and hope it brings you some of the same feels it brings me.

This week 226, for my open mic session with the theme “My Prayer.” I chose to sing Yet by The King Will Come, a song that beautifully reflects the essence of my Christian faith.
Every day, I find myself praying to God to be better, to grow in this journey of faith. It’s a journey that isn’t always easy. There are struggles, moments of doubt, and times when I feel like I can’t move forward on my own. But in those moments, I remember that my strength comes from God.
This song is a reminder that, no matter how tough it gets, I’m not alone, and I don’t have to rely solely on myself. I’m trusting God to guide me, to help me become the person He’s calling me to be.This journey with God is one I’m committed to, despite the challenges. I’m never giving up on this relationship, and this song captures that sentiment perfectly.
Yet speaks to my heart, and I hope it resonates with others as well.
Lyrics to "Yet" by The King Will Come
God
Don't give up on me yet
I know i'm not Your best bet
But i'm trying
So don't give up on me yet
And God
Don't leave me here alone
I know i need to grow still
And i'm trying
Don't leave me here alone
I know i've come so far
But got so far to go
And with these brand new scars
And this broken heart
It's hard to really know
It's hard to really know
If there's a reason
And if i'll ever see it
But i wanna believe it
So don't give up on me yet
God,
I know it makes no sense
You love me time and time again
But i still need reminding
Yeah, i know it makes no sense
I know I've come so far
But got so far to go
And with these brand new scars
And this broken heart
It's hard to really know
If there's a reason
And if i'll ever see it
But i wanna believe it
So don't give up on me yet
Don't give up on me
Don't give up on me
Don't give up on me
Don't give up on me
Don't give up!
Don't give up on me
Don't give up!
Don't give up on me
Don't give up!
Don't give up on me
Don't give up!
God
I know i'm not the same
But You knew that i would change
And i think that You're trying
To tell me it's okay
I know i've come so far
But got so far to go
And with these brand new scars
And this broken heart
It's hard to really know
If there's a reason
And if i'll ever see it
But i wanna believe it
So, don't give up on me yet
Don't give up on me yet
Don't give up on me

Hey Vibes Family!
For this week'theme, we had to sing a Disney song, and I instantly went for "Beauty and the Beast" from the movie. This song has been one of my all-time faves because I literally grew up watching the movie on repeat. Belle was my girl—she's obsessed with books, and honestly, same!
When I was younger, I heard people making weird comments about the movie, like they were fixated on the whole bestiality angle. But honestly, that’s just people oversexualizing things. The real message is so much deeper and way more beautiful. It’s about looking past someone’s exterior and loving them for who they are inside—even the parts that aren’t “perfect.” That’s the vibe I wanted to bring to my performance, and I hope it came through. Here are the lyrics,:
Lyrics
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh, ooh
Tale as old as time
True as it can be
Barely even friends
Then somebody bends
Unexpectedly
Just a little change
Small to say the least
Both a little scared
Neither one prepared
Beauty and the beast
Ever just the same
Ever a surprise
Ever as before
And ever just as sure
As the sun will rise
Oh
Oh
Mmm, oh-oh-oh
Ever just the same
Ever a surprise
Ever as before
Ever just as sure
As the sun will rise
Oh, oh, oh
Tale as old as time (ooh-ooh)
Tune as old as song
Bittersweet and strange
Finding you can change
Learning you were wrong
Certain as the sun
Certain as the sun
Rising in the east
Tale as old as time
Song as old as rhyme
Beauty and the beast
Tale as old as time
Song as old as rhyme
Beauty and the beast
Oh, oh, oh
Ooh-ooh-ooh, ooh, ooh
Beauty and the beast

Hey everyone!
For week 224, I sang an acoustic version of "Fireflies" by Owl City.
This song perfectly captures the magical, carefree nights of summertime, where fireflies light up the sky and warm breezes fill the air (just as the lyrics says).
The lyrics and melody remind me of those memorable summer nights I spent outdoors under the stars with my siblings and cousins when we traveled for vacation.
I hope you enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed performing it!
Happy summer, everyone! Let's keep chasing those fireflies.

Hello Vibes Family🤗,
For Week 17 of the Competition, I decided to challenge myself by performing an a cappella version of "Run Away" by Aurora.
This is my first time doing an acappella cover, and I handled all the backing vocals on my own. It was a tough and demanding process, but the final result exceeded my expectations🫢.
I'm thrilled to be part of this amazing community and grateful for the opportunity to push my boundaries🙏. I hope you all enjoy the performance, and I look forward to seeing everyone next week!💕💕

Hey everyone! 🤗
This week for Hive Open Mic, the theme is desire, and I decided to sing "Unbeak My Heart" by Tony Braxton.
This song really hits home for me—it’s all about that intense feeling of wanting someone, which ties in perfectly with this week’s theme.

Here are the lyrics of the song:
Don't leave me in all this pain
Don't leave me out in the rain
Come back and bring back my smile
Come and take these tears away
I need your arms to hold me now
The nights are so unkind
Bring back those nights when I held you beside me
Un-break my heart
Say you'll love me again
Undo this hurt you caused
When you walked out the door
And walked out of my life
Un-cry these tears
I cried so many nights
Un-break my heart
My heart
Take back that sad word goodbye
Bring back the joy to my life
Don't leave me here with these tears
Come and kiss this pain away
I can't forget the day you left
Time is so unkind
And life is so cruel without you here beside me
Un-break my heart
Say you'll love me again
Undo this hurt you caused
When you walked out the door
And walked out of my life
Un-cry these tears
I cried so many nights
Un-break my heart, oh, ooh
Ooh
Don't leave me in all this pain
Don't leave me out in the rain
Bring back the nights when I held you beside me
Un-break my heart
Say you'll love me again
Undo this hurt you caused
When you walked out the door
And walked out of my life
Un-cry these tears
I cried so many, many nights
Oh, un-break my
Un-break my heart, oh baby
Come back and say you love me
Un-break my heart, sweet darlin'
Without you I just can't go on
Can't go on

Hey everyone!
For Vibes Week 14, we had to cover a song by Sam Phelps. I chose "Mi Amor," his latest hit with Anita and JVKE, because its catchy tune hooked me instantly.
Recording this cover was quite a journey! I recorded using BandLab, my phone and my earpiece. In my video, you’ll see me recording my first take. Later I added some parts to get them just right. I also added backing vocals to enhance the song's feel.
Since I don't speak Spanish, I rewrote the second verse in my own style, giving it a personal twist. For non pidgin speakers, "waka" means walk.
I hope you enjoy my take on this fantastic track! Thanks for listening and supporting me. Can’t wait to share more music with you next week.Let me know what you think! 💖 Uploaded using 3Speak Mobile App

Hello Open Mic family,
Welcome to Hive Open Mic Week 217. The theme of this week is 'Grateful' and I picked the song 'Thank you by Dido'.
The reason I picked this song is because it reminds me of my best friend. Anytime I am in trouble or I feel down, he is the first person I dial. Anytime I have good news or bad news, he is the first person I share them with and every time I have a very bad day, he is the one that makes my day feel better with just a single call. This song makes me feel grateful towards him and it feels like I am telling him thank you for being such an amazing person and an amazing friend I really love my best friend and I really want to him to be the best he can be. I pray for him. everyday and I am so grateful for his love I am so lucky to have this love and I pray that God keeps those both to see each other succeed and enjoy the fruits of our labours.
For my video, I wanted to act like a superstar so I acted like I was in a music video. Please do not laugh at me (I have laughed at myself enough😂😂). I was literally just having fun all through. It was really exciting to make this video and I hope you can see it and also share my excitement
All right guys see you next week and I hope you enjoy my video and my song.

Hello Vibes Fam,
Welcome to Week 13 and I'm thrilled to share my cover of "Lift Me Up" by Rihanna.
I picked this song because it always makes me cry and resonates deeply with me. I poured my heart into every note while recording. The song talks about the pain and grief of losing a loved song but also about finding comfort in the memories made with them.
Recording this was an emotional journey, and I hope you can feel the passion and sincerity in my rendition. Music has the power to make us feel pain but also heal as well, and I wanted to capture that essence in my cover.
Take a moment to listen, and let me know your thoughts! Your support means the world to me. 🎶💖

Hello Open Mic Family,

Hey everyone!
For Hive Open Mic Week 215, with the theme "Waves," I decided to sing "Malibu" by Miley Cyrus. It's all about her love story with Liam Hemsworth and their chill life in Malibu, California. "Malibu" fits this week's theme so well because it's all about the ocean and those calming beach vibes. The song flow is like a wave. The melody is really soothing and the lyrics makes you feel like you're right there on the beach, feeling the breeze on your skin.
I was unable to create a video of myself because my phone developed a fault so I decided to do a lyric video. I got the video from YouTube and used Inshot app for my editing. It was quite fun doing this.
Side note: A lot of you have been asking how I get my audio to sound clean and also sing over my voice. I use Bandlab, which is an awesome app for recording and editing music. Bandlab has tons of tools and effects that make it super easy to create high-quality tracks right from your phone or computer (it is that accessible).
If you're curious about how to use Bandlab, there are tons of tutorials on YouTube that can help you get started and show you all the tips and tricks. It's a great way to up your recording game and share your music with the world.
Thanks for checking out my cover of "Malibu. See you next week!

I am excited to share my entry for Week 11! I chose "A Million Dreams" from The Greatest Showman. It is a song that inspires me to hold onto my dreams. The song's message is universal and motivates many people. I remember watching the movie and crying while also feeling very motivated. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend you. It's family friendly so you can watch it with your family.
I want to thank the organizers of the competition @lordbutterfly and @verbal-d for giving me a chance to showcase my talent. I also want to pay tribute to the iconic movie and its soundtrack, which brings joy to us ,the fans.
I tried to make the song my own while keeping its essence. I hope my performance inspires you and I hope you enjoy listening. Good luck to all participants! See you next week!

Hey everyone! I wanted to share my song choice for Hive Open Mic Week 212: "Your Power" by Billie Eilish.
I picked this song because it talks about how people sometimes use their power to control others, especially in relationships. It's important to stand up for yourself and not let anyone treat you badly.
"Your Power" is about feeling powerless when someone tries to control you. But it's also about finding the strength to take back control of your own life.
I hope you enjoy my version of the song! Thanks for listening, and let's keep spreading the power of music together. See you next week💖

Hey everyone, I'm excited to share my song choice for Week 10 of the Vibes Web3 Music Competition! I sang "Lovely" by Billie Eilish and Khalid.
I love this song because it's sad but also nice to listen to. Billie Eilish and Khalid sound sooo good together. The words are sad, but they make you feel something deep inside.
When I sang this song, I felt all the emotions in it. Music is amazing because it helps us connect with our feelings and that was what this song did for me.
I hope you like my version of "Lovely." Good luck to everyone in the competition! See you next w

Hello Vibes Web3 Music Competition, welcome to Week 9. This week, I decided to switch things up a bit and bring some cultural flair to my entry for the Vibes Competition. I chose to sing "Ayo" by Simi, a captivating Nigerian song sung in Yoruba, my mother tongue.
"Ayo" is more than just a song; it's a celebration of joy and gratitude. In Yoruba culture, "Ayo" means joy, and the song beautifully speaks about the essence of finding happiness in life's simple pleasures. It speaks values of positivity and embracing moments of bliss that are deeply ingrained in Yoruba culture. For those who don't know, Yoruba is a language spoken by the Yoruba people in Nigeria.
By showcasing a piece of my heritage through music, I hope to not only share the message of joy and gratitude embodied in "Ayo" but also offer a glimpse into the richness of Yoruba culture. Thank you for joining me on this musical journey, and I can't wait to share more with you all. See you next week! 🎵✨

Hey Afritunes family♥️! Welcome to Week 111 and this week I am singing Commas by Ayra Starr.
I wanted to share a little behind-the-scenes of why I chose to sing "Commas" by Ayra Starr for Afritunes Week 111. First off, let's talk about the song itself. It's an absolute banger, isn't it? The sweet beat, the catchy lyrics, it's just one of those tunes that gets stuck in your head for days (not that I'm complaining!).But it's not just the catchiness that drew me to this song. Right now, "Commas" is like the anthem of the moment in Africa. It's everywhere! From radio stations to playlists, it's hard to go a day without hearing it. And I do not cap when I say Ayra Starr is a force to be reckoned with.
Speaking of Ayra Starr, can we just take a moment to appreciate how she's been lighting up the music scene? She's not just making waves; she's creating freaking tsunamis! Her rise to stardom has been nothing short of inspiring, and she's showing the world what Nigerian talent is all about. She's making the girlies proud, breaking records left and right, and proving that she's here to stay.
And let's talk about that moment when she was spotted with none other than Rihanna. I mean, come on! Seeing her rubbing shoulders with one of the biggest names in the industry? That's the stuff dreams are made of. It was a proud moment for all of us who've been following her journey from the start. So yeah, singing "Commas" wasn't just about picking a popular song. It was about celebrating Ayra Starr's success, her growth, and everything she's achieved so far.
Here's to many more milestones, record breaking feats and many more hits from this awesome queen 👑!

Hello Open Mic Fam,
Welcome to Week 209 which as the theme "Love" and for this week, I sang Ariana Grande's "Wait For Your Love" from her latest album, Eternal Sunshine. This track? Total classic. But first, let's talk a bit about what makes my pick for this week.
"Wait For Your Love" isn't just any song—it's like a whole mood. It's all about that feels trip, you know? Ariana's vocals? Straight fire. They hit you right in the feels and make you wanna hit repeat like, ASAP.
To be honest, Ariana's new album has been on my playlist non-stop. Seriously, it's like my soundtrack lately. "We Can't Be Friends"? A bop. "Imperfect for You"? Hits different. And "The Boy is Mine"? Major bad chick vibes, to list a few.
I couldn't help but get hooked on every beat and lyric. It's like Ariana knows exactly what we're feeling and puts it into words and melodies that just speak to our souls, ya feel me?
So, if you haven't already, you gotta check out her album. It's the kind of vibe you need in your life, trust me.
Don't forget to drop a vote and nice comment, if you enjoyed my entry. Your support is highly appreciated♥️
See your next week!😁

Hey everyone! I'm thrilled to be entering the Vibes Web3 Music Competition for week 8, with the theme being "The 60's". For my entry, I've chosen to sing "California Dreaming", a timeless classic by The Mamas & the Papas, released in 1965. This song talks about the beauty of the era with its dreamy melody and lyrics, which reflects the singer's longing for warmth and sunshine associated with California.
When I saw the theme for this week, I couldn't contain my excitement. I've always had a deep love for the music of the 60s and 70s. I feel like that era was the happiest time in music history, where the music just sounded good and felt even better.
Unfortunately, I couldn't post my entry earlier for the past weeks because my phone got damaged, and I wasn't able to replace it until weeks later. I've truly missed being a part of this wonderful competition, but I'm back now and ready to share my music with you all.
I hope you enjoy my rendition of "California Dreaming".
See you next week! 🎶✨

Hey Vibes Community! 🤗🤗
I'm thrilled to share my Week 3 entry for the Vibes Web3 Music Competition, where I poured my heart into singing "Best Part" by Daniel Caesar and H.E.R. Let me share with you the reasons behind my choice this week.
I chose "Best Part" because, in my opinion, it stands as one of the most beautiful love songs of our generation. It's not just a melody; it's a heartfelt conversation between two souls in love. Personally, it holds a special place in my heart as one of my all-time favorites. That could also be because the first time I ever heard it was from my first boyfriend and the song struck me deep. Since then, its beauty and emotion have stuck with me.
For this Vibes Web3 Music Competition entry, I decided to not use any effects with my vocals and showcase my raw vocals for the first time in this competition. I aim to provide a genuine connection and allow the authenticity of my voice to flow through this melodic entry.
Thanks to everyone in the community for being a part of this musical journey with me. 🎶 Your support means the world, and I can't wait to share more melodies and moments. See you again next week🤗🤗
Here are the lyrics:
You don't know, babe
When you hold me
And kiss me slowly
It's the sweetest thing
And it won't change
If I had it my way
You would know that you are
You're the coffee that I need in the morning
You're my sunshine in the rain when it's pouring
Won't you give yourself to me
Give it all, oh
I just wanna see
I just wanna see how beautiful you are
You know that I see it
I know you're a star
Where you go I follow
No matter how far
If life is a movie
Oh you're the best part, oh oh oh
You're the best part, oh oh oh
Best part
It's the sunrise
And those brown eyes, yes
You're the one that I desire
When we wake up
And then we make love
It makes me feel so nice
You're my water when I'm stuck in the desert
You're the Tylenol I take when my head hurts
You're the sunshine on my life
I just wanna see how beautiful you are
You know that I see it
I know you're a star
Where you go I follow
No matter how far
If life is a movie
Then you're the best part, oh oh oh
You're the best part, oh oh oh
Best part
If you love me won't you say something
If you love me won't you
Won't you
If you love me won't you say something
If you love me won't you
Love me, won't you
If you love me won't you say something
If you love me won't you
If you love me won't you say something
If you love me won't you
Love me, won't you
If you love me won't you say something
If you love me won't you
If you love me won't you say something
If you love me won't you
Love me, won't you

Hey everyone 🤗!
I'm excited to share my Hive Open Mic entry for Week 203, where the theme is "Memories." The song I chose is Adele's "When We Were Young," and I'd love to take you through why this song is so special to me and why I chose it.
This song resonates with me because it beautifully captures the bittersweet essence of reminiscing. It's a soul-stirring reflection on the passage of time.
Now, let me share a personal story that connects deeply with my choice of singing "When We Were Young. Recently, one of my oldest and closest university friends, who also happened to be my neighbor, graduated and moved out. As he embarked on a new chapter, bidding farewell to our 'home' of three years, I couldn't help but feel the emotional weight of change.
Choosing "When We Were Young" for this week's theme perfectly captures the emotions of seeing someone you cherish move on. The lyrics mirror the emotional realization that time has transformed our lives, but the memories remain etched in our hearts. As I sang this song, I couldn't help but reflect on the shared laughter, late-night conversations, and the profound bond we developed over the years. The feeling was a mixture of joy and sadness for the growth and evolution of our friendship. I truly wish him the best and I will miss him deeply💕💕.
I truly hope you enjoy this. Until next week ✨. Here are the lyrics for you to enjoy:
Everybody loves the things you do
From the way you talk
To the way you move
Everybody here is watching you
'Cause you feel like home
You're like a dream come true
But if by chance you're here alone
Can I have a moment?
Before I go?
'Cause I've been by myself all night long
Hoping you're someone I used to know
You look like a movie
You sound like a song
My God this reminds me, of when we were young
Let me photograph you in this light
In case it is the last time
That we might be exactly like we were
Before we realized
We were scared of getting old
It made us restless
It was just like a movie
It was just like a song
I was so scared to face my fears
Nobody told me that you'd be here
And I'd swear you moved overseas
That's what you said, when you left me
You still look like a movie
You still sound like a song
My God, this reminds me, of when we were young
Let me photograph you in this light
In case it is the last time
That we might be exactly like we were
Before we realized
We were sad of getting old
It made us restless
It was just like a movie
It was just like a song
When we were young
(When we were young)
When we were young
(When we were young)
It's hard to win me back
Everything just takes me back
To when you were there
To when you were there
And a part of me keeps holding on
Just in case it hasn't gone
I guess I still care
Do you still care?
It was just like a movie
It was just like a song
My God, this reminds me
Of when we were young
When we were young
(When we were young)
When we were young
(When we were young)
Let me photograph you in this light
In case it is the last time
That we might be exactly like we were
Before we realized
We were sad of getting old
It made us restless
Oh I'm so mad I'm getting old
It makes me reckless
It was just like a movie
It was just like a song
When we were young

Hey Vibes Web3 Community Music Lovers !
I'm thrilled to share my Week Two entry with you all, and let me tell you, it was a blast creating it! This time around, I chose the timeless classic, "Our Last Summer," from the beloved movie Mamma Mia. The song itself is a duet, and I decided to take it a step further by performing a duet with myself.
One of the challenges was switching the male and female verses, transforming the line "and now you're working in a bank, a family man, a football fan and your name is Harry" to "and now you're working in a bank, a family girl, a football fan and your name is Sally." It added a unique twist to the performance, and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out.
Believe it or not, I recorded both the song and the video in just 2 hours. It was a whirlwind of creativity and excitement, and the entire process was incredibly fun. The song holds a special place in my heart, being a significant part of my childhood. I fondly remember watching Mamma Mia repeatedly with my siblings, thanks to my sister who introduced us to this cinematic gem.
Now, I invite you to check out my rendition of "Our Last Summer" and take a trip down memory lane with Mamma Mia. If you have a moment, revisit the movie that inspired this performance – you won't be disappointed!
And to cap it off, here are the lyrics to "Our Last Summer" for you to enjoy:
I can still recall
Our last summer
I still see it all
Walks along the Seine
Laughing in the rain
Our last summer
Memories that remain
We made our way along the river
And we sat down in the grass by the Eiffel tower
I was so happy we had met
It was the age of no regret
Oh, yes
Those crazy years
That was the time of the flower-power
But underneath
We had a fear of flying
Of growing old
A fear of slowly dying
We took our chance
Like we were dancing our last dance
I can still recall
Our last summer
I still see it all
In the tourist jam
Round the Notre Dame
Our last summer
Walking hand in hand
Paris restaurants
Our last summer
Morning croissants
Living for the day
Worries far away
Our last summer
We could laugh and play
And now you're working in a bank
The family man, a football fan
And your name is Harry
How dull it seems
Yet, you were the hero of my dreams
I can still recall
Our last summer
I still see it all
Walks along the Seine
Laughing in the rain
Our last summer
Memories that remain

I hope you all enjoy the performance as much as I enjoyed creating it. See you next week!

Hey Hive Open Mic! 👋 This is my entry for Week 202. The theme was "Storytelling" and I chose to sing "Love Story" by Taylor Swift. I wanted to share with you why I picked this incredible song and delve into the storytelling magic it holds.
"Love Story" has always been a song close to my heart since I was younger. Its timeless melody and storytelling lyrics create a perfect blend of nostalgia and romance. I find it fascinating how Taylor Swift creativelyweaves a modern-day Romeo and Juliet tale into a three-minute song. The emotion and passion behind each note and lyric truly make it a standout choice for this week's theme.
"Love Story" is essentially a modern-day adaptation of William Shakespeare's classic play, Romeo and Juliet. The song narrates the tale of a young couple defying their families and societal norms to pursue a love that's genuine and true.
This song was released in 2008 as the lead single from Taylor Swift's second studio album, "Fearless," "Love Story" became an instant hit.
So, when I had the opportunity to choose a song for Hive Open Mic's storytelling theme, "Love Story" was the perfect fit. It allows me to express my love for storytelling through song and share the captivating narrative that Taylor Swift so beautifully crafted.
I hope you enjoy my rendition of "Love Story" as much as I enjoyed singing it. 🎶 Thank you for your support, and stay tuned for more musical adventures in the Hive Open Mic journey!
Here are the lyrics:
We were both young when I first saw you
I close my eyes and the flashback starts
I'm standing there
On a balcony in summer air
See the lights, see the party, the ball gowns
See you make your way through the crowd
And say "Hello"
Little did I know
That you were Romeo, you were throwing pebbles
And my daddy said, "Stay away from Juliet"
And I was crying on the staircase
Begging you, "Please don't go"
And I said
"Romeo take me somewhere we can be alone
I'll be waiting, all there's left to do is run
You'll be the prince, and I'll be the princess
It's a love story, baby, just say yes"
So I sneak out to the garden to see you
We keep quiet 'cause we're dead if they knew
So close your eyes
Escape this town for a little while, oh, oh
'Cause you were Romeo, I was a scarlet letter
And my daddy said, "Stay away from Juliet"
But you were everything to me
I was begging you, "Please don't go"
And I said
"Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone
I'll be waiting, all there's left to do is run
You'll be the prince, and I'll be the princess
It's a love story, baby, just say yes"
Romeo, save me, they're trying to tell me how to feel
This love is difficult, but it's real
Don't be afraid, we'll make it out of this mess
It's a love story, baby, just say yes
Oh, oh-oh
I got tired of waiting
Wondering if you were ever coming around
My faith in you was fading
When I met you on the outskirts of town
And I said
"Romeo, save me, I've been feeling so alone
I keep waiting for you, but you never come
Is this in my head? I don't know what to think"
He knelt to the ground and pulled out a ring
And said
"Marry me, Juliet, you'll never have to be alone
I love you, and that's all I really know
I talked to your dad, go pick out a white dress
It's a love story, baby, just say yes"
Oh, oh-oh
Oh, oh-oh, oh
'Cause we were both young when I first saw you

I get wings to fly
Oh, oh, I'm alive
When you call on me
When I hear you breathe
I get wings to fly
I feel that I'm alive
When you look at me
I can touch the sky
I know that I'm alive
When you bless the day
I just drift away
All my worries die
I'm glad that I'm alive
You've set my heart on fire
Filled me with love
Made me a woman on clouds above
I couldn't get much higher
My spirit takes flight
'Cause I am alive
When you call on me
When you call on me
When I hear you breathe
When I hear you breathe
I get wings to fly
I feel that I'm alive
I am alive
When you reach for me
When you reach for me
Raising spirits high
God knows that
That I'll be the one
Standing by through good and through trying times
And it's only begun
I can't wait for the rest of my life
When you call on me
When you call on me
When you reach for me
When you reach for me
I get wings to fly
I feel that
When you bless the day
When you bless, you bless the day
I just drift away
I just drift away
All my worries die
I know that I'm alive
I get wings to fly
God knows that I'm alive.

Hello everyone. This is my entry for Week 172 of Hive Open Mic. The theme of the week is 'Family'.
We were all told in basic school that family is the most important unit. We were also taught about the different types of families: the nuclear and extended family. We were told our families included people we were related to by blood like our father, mothers, siblings, cousins, nephews, etc. As we grew older, we did not need school to realize that the term 'family' could include people who were not related to us by blood. We got to meet people and grow relationships that grew deeper than the bond of friendship. The bond felt very similar to family and in fact, sometimes we found ourselves referring to them as family, even when they were not related to us in any way. They were just strangers we got to build relationships with but they were family. They were going to be there for us, anytime we needed them.
That was what Simba was trying to explain to Kiara, his lion cub that everyone in the kingdom is her family and they were always going to be there for her. He explained about life and how it can get hard doing life alone but with everyone around her, her family (not just blood-related), she can overcome all her obstacles. He let her understand everyone is her family, regardless of the relationship. They are all ONE family.
Here are the lyrics to the song. Enjoy!
As you go through life, you’ll see
There is so much that we
Don’t understand
And the only thing we know
Is things don’t always go
The way we planned
But you’ll see every day
That we’ll never turn away
When it seems all your dreams come undone
We will stand by your side
Filled with hope and filled with pride
We are more than we are,
We are one
Chorus:
Family, family
We are one (2x)
Kiara:
If there’s so much I must be
Can I still just be me,
The way I am?
Can I trust in my own heart,
Or am I just one part
Of some big plan?
Simba:
Even those who are gone
Are with us as we go on
Your journey has only begun
Tears of pain, tears of joy
One thing nothing can destroy
Is our pride, deep inside
We are one
Chorus:
Family, family
We are one (2x)
Simba:
We are one, you and I
We are like the earth and sky
One family under the sun
All the wisdom to lead
All the courage that you need
You will find when you see
We…are…one
Chorus:
(One one one)
Family, family
We are one (repeat)

Hello everyone. This is my entry for Week 171 of Hive Open Mic. The theme of the week is Divorce/separation. I sang one of my favorite songs 'Lose You to love me by Selena Gomez.
I always like to know the story of songs when I listen to them. Most times, singers share the inspiration for the songs and sometimes I assume speculations based on the singer's lives because most times the writing is usually about personal experiences, especially ballads. Although, Selena did not share the inspiration behind this song. I did my research and figured out that she wrote it during the time she separated from her long-time boyfriend, Justin Beiber. It was an on-and-off relationship. When she finally decided to let go of the relationship after back and forth of emotional drama. It was the final straw, she was done with the whole drama. It was during that period she released this powerful song.
The song is all about leaving someone because you decided to choose loving yourself. When you have given your all to someone and they don't reciprocate it and you keep doing it over and over until one day you decide you're not going to keep allowing yourself to go through heartbreaks and disappointment. It is choosing to love yourself instead of allowing someone else to walk over your feelings. Walking away from people who do not value or cherish you is a great form of self-love. I hope you enjoy my cover.
Here are the lyrics:
"Lose You To Love Me"
You promised the world and I fell for it
I put you first and you adored it
Set fires to my forest
And you let it burn
Sang off-key in my chorus
'Cause it wasn't yours
I saw the signs and I ignored it
Rose-colored glasses all distorted
Set fire to my purpose
And I let it burn
You got off on the hurtin'
When it wasn't yours, yeah
We'd always go into it blindly
I needed to lose you to find me
This dancing was killing me softly
I needed to hate you to love me, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, yeah
I needed to lose you to love me, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, yeah
I needed to lose you to love me
I gave my all and they all know it
You tore me down and now it's showing
In two months you replaced us
Like it was easy
Made me think I deserved it
In the thick of healing, yeah
We'd always go into it blindly
I needed to lose you to find me
This dancing was killing me softly
I needed to hate you to love me, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, yeah
I needed to lose you to love me, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, yeah
I needed to lose you to love me
You promised the world and I fell for it
I put you first and you adored it
Set fires to my forest
And you let it burn
Sang off key in my chorus
To love, love, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, yeah
I needed to hate you to love me, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, yeah
I needed to lose you to love me
To love, love, yeah
To love, love, yeah
To love, yeah
And now the chapter is closed and done
To love love, yeah
To love love, yeah
To love, yeah
And now it's goodbye, it's goodbye for us

Hello everyone. This is my entry for Week 170 of Hive Open Mic. The theme of the week is Cacao and I sang Brown Skin Girl by Beyonce, Wizkid, Saint JHN and Blue Ivy.
Cacao is known for its rich brown color which is similar to the shade of black people. I find it funny we are called blacks when we are not black and others are called white when they are not white. It is not easy to ignore how deep colorism is etched in our lives. For black people, we have a sad history with the color of our skin. It is not news that long time ago, black people were taken into slavery and looked down upon in the society for a long time because of the color of their skins. Over time, after slavery was abolished, black people started taking their power back. We started appreciating our heritage that we seemed to have lost. Our culture, our food, our tribes and our skin - things we had forgotten to cherish for a long time. Especially our beautiful brown melanin skin. That is why I chose this song. It speaks about the beauty of our brown skin and encourages us to embrace our natural black features that makes us unique and stand out. Like the Cacao, our skin is rich in color and we should love and appreciate it. That's what makes us black or brown like Cacao(winks)
Here are the lyrics to the song. I hope you enjoy it.
Be the same skin taking over
Most things out of focus view
But when you're in the room, they notice you (Notice you)
'Cause you're beautiful
Yeah, you're beautiful
Them men, them gon' fall in love (In love)
With you and all of your glory (Glory)
Your skin is not only dark (Only)
It shines and it tells your story (Story)
Keep dancing, they can't control you (Ah)
They watching, they all adore you
If ever you are in doubt
Remember what mama told you
Brown skin girl (Brown skin girl)
Ya skin just like pearls (Brown skin girl)
Your back against the world (Oh)
I'd never trade you for anybody else, say (No, no)
Brown skin girl (Brown skin girl)
Ya skin just like pearls (Brown skin)
The best thing about the world
I'd never trade you for anybody else, say
Brown skin girl
Your skin just like pearls
The best thing in the world
I'd never trade you for anybody else, singing

This was the first song that came to my mind when I saw the theme of the week "in love with Nature and mother earth." Actually no, the first song that came to my head was "Earth Song" by Michael Jackson. That would have been a better choice musically and it even syncs better with the theme, now that I am thinking about it. Well, I guess 'Heal The World' has just always been my go-to song anytime we are singing about Earth. The song has a very powerful message that serves as a wake-up call to every human.
Let's talk about the background of the song. According to Wikipedia, "Heal the World" is a song recorded by American recording artist Micheal Jackson from his eighth studio album, Dangerous (1991). It was released on November 23, 1992, as the sixth single from the album. It was written and composed by Jackson, and produced by Jackson and Bruce Swedien. It is a song steeped with antiwar lyrics and Jackson's wish for humanity of making the world a better place.
This song makes me cry almost every time I sing or listen to it because it speaks the truth about how we humans are not only destroying ourselves but the world we live in also. We are all obsessed with being at the top, resorting to means of disposing of whoever or whatever is in our way. While getting to the top should be everyone's goal, we should not use selfish and harmful means to get what we want. We also might not agree with one another. I mean we are different people from different cultural backgrounds with different beliefs. We are bound to misunderstand each other sometimes but it doesn't mean we should hurt ourselves because of misunderstandings. We see countries going to war, and innocent people dying all because the two leaders of a nation refused to see eye to eye. It's not right. We need to allow peace to reign. We need to let the love in our hearts shine brighter than any misunderstanding. We need to stand together. We are all the same. Yes, we might have different skins and speak different languages but we are all the same and we live on planet Earth. We must let love lead.
We must also ensure we take care of mother earth. All activities we are doing that are hurting our beloved habitat should be stopped. As I said in the video, we are not here alone. There are other living things on earth like plants and animals and it is our duty to carter for them. The truth is we can not survive without them. Imagine a world without plants and animals, humanity will go extinct. So we must ensure we take care of nature so that nature can take care of us.
Here are the lyrics to the song. I hope you enjoy my cover. See you next week!
There's a place in your heart
And I know that it is love
And this place it was brighter than tomorrow
And if you really try
You'll find there's no need to cry
In this place you'll feel there's no hurt or sorrow
There are ways to get there
If you care enough for the living
Make a little space
Make a better place
Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me, and the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make a better place for you and for me
If you want to know why
There's love that cannot lie
Love is strong
It only cares of joyful giving
If we try we shall see
In this bliss we cannot feel
Fear of dread, we stop existing and start living
Then it feels that always
Love's enough for us growing
Make a better world
So make a better world
Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me, and the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make a better place for you and for me

In a world where everyone seem to live for themselves. There is so much selfishness causing the world to get worse to live in.
I picked this song because I believe it is the voice of hope for humanity. Michael urges us to care for everyone around us. Doing this will help make the world a better place.
Here are the lyrics to the song. I hope you enjoy my cover
There's a place in your heart
And I know that it is love
And this place it was brighter than tomorrow
And if you really try
You'll find there's no need to cry
In this place you'll feel there's no hurt or sorrow
There are ways to get there
If you care enough for the living
Make a little space
Make a better place
Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me, and the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make a better place for you and for me
And the dream we were conceived in will reveal a joyful face
And the world we once believed in will shine again in grace
Then why do we keep strangling life
Wound this earth, crucify its soul?
Though it's plain to see, this world is heavenly
Be god's glow
Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me, and the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make a better place for you and for me
Heal the world
Make it a better place
For you and for me, and the entire human race
There are people dying
If you care enough for the living
Make a better place for you and for me

Winter.
We don't experience that here in Nigeria. Our temperature here is superheated so we do not get to enjoy the magic of the snow but we celebrate the holiday Christmas.
Right now, houses are shining with red and green decorations and fireworks are echoing across the streets. The Christmas spirit is out even if the weather is not. So we do enjoy Christmas over here, just without the winter.
That didn't bother my process of selecting a song for this week. I love Christmas and I listen to a whole lot of Christmas songs, pop to be precise. My favorite will always be "oh holy night" by Celine Dion. Care to share yours in the comments? I would love to know.
In this video though, I sang another of my favorites by the Prince of Pop, Justin Bieber titled mistletoe. The song sings about Christmas love and the mistletoe charm. For those who do not know the charm of the mistletoe, it is said that in Christmas tradition, anyone standing under the mistletoe must kiss.
So here Justin was singing about how he preferred staying under the mistletoe with his 'shawty' to anything else on Christmas. Imagine missing Christmas Jollof and chicken because of true love. The things we do for love😂😂
It's a very romantic song I love that shows the magic of winter and Christmas and I hope you like it too. Wishing you a merry Christmas in advance.
Here are the lyrics
It's the most beautiful time of the year
Lights fill the streets, spreading so much cheer
I should be playing in the winter snow
But I'ma be under the mistletoe
I don't wanna miss out on the holiday
But I can't stop staring at your face
I should be playing in the winter snow
But I'ma be under the mistletoe
With you, shawty, with you
With you, shawty, with you
With you, under the mistletoe
Everyone's gathering around the fire
Chestnuts roasting like a hot July
I should be chilling with my folks, I know
But I'ma be under the mistletoe
Word on the street is Santa's coming tonight
Reindeer flying through the sky so high
I should be making a list, I know
But I'ma be under the mistletoe
With you, shawty, with you
With you, shawty, with you
With you, under the mistletoe
With you, shawty, with you
With you, shawty, with you
With you, under the mistletoe
A love, the wise men followed the star (the wise men followed the star)
The way I followed my heart
And it led me to a miracle
A love (ayy love), don't you buy me nothing (don't you buy me nothing)
'Cause I am feeling one thing, your lips on my lips
That's a merry, merry Christmas
It's the most beautiful time of the year
Lights fill the streets, spreading so much cheer
I should be playing in the winter snow (I know)
But I'ma be under the mistletoe
I don't wanna miss out on the holiday
But I can't stop staring at your face
I should be playing in the winter snow
But I'ma be under the mistletoe (whoa yeah)
With you, shawty, with you
With you, shawty, with you
With you, under the mistletoe, yeah
With you, shawty, with you
With you (oohh), shawty, with you
With you (yeah), under the mistletoe (under the mistletoe)
Kiss me underneath the mistletoe (kiss me underneath the mistletoe)
Show me, baby, that you love me so-oh-oh (oh, oh, oh, oh, oh)
Oh, oh, oh (oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, yeah, yeah)
Kiss me underneath the mistletoe (kiss me underneath the mistletoe)
Show me, baby, that you love me so-oh-oh, oh, oh, oh (oh, whoa, oh whoa)

[ I wrote this song two years ago. I sat in the corner of my room in the middle of the night with my phone and my earpiece. I think it was around August. I used to record myself a lot during this period. I had just finished from Polytechnic and was waiting for University to resume from the strike that was ongoing then.
I enjoyed recording myself a lot because it was like an outlet for me. The day I recorded tis, my friends had told me my sound was "too american-ish" and it made me feel somehow. How can a black queen like me be sounding like my ex-colonizers. I knew they were not lying because I listened a lot of American songs (Ariana Grande was my favorite artiste at this time) but I also listened to Nigerian songs. I was a devout 30BG fan (still am).
So this particular night, I dared myself to write something my ancestors will be proud of. Even though, I had no idea of how I was going to sound, I was not discouraged. I went to youtube and searched for a beat that resonated with me. After finding the beat, I started recording immediately. It took me about one hour and I was done with recording.
When I first heard it, I HATED it. After showing it to my friends, I never played it again until recently when I stumbled on it, and I played it out with a really great sound system. I was mind blown. I realized the song was actually not bad. I think the earpiece I used did not let me fully like what I was hearing.
Two years down and I can say I am proud of my songwriting years. I dont write songs anymore sadly because I have no time to do so but I would love to go back to it soon.
I wrote this song from the perspective of a young woman who is about to get married and happily remincising with her father how she had anticipated the day. It is a really beautiful song. It's not complete though. I hope to complete one day when I can and hopefully dropa proper studio recording but till then, enjoy this snippet lyric video. Let me know what you think of the song in the comments.

Peru Para!
That's my jam! Actually, it is everybody's jam and not just Nigerians, I mean everybody in the whole world. Having the talented Ed Sheeran on the remix put this groovy jam on the map. Everybody was dancing to this when it dropped. Tiktok, Facebook, and Instagram were on fire! Creators and fans loved it.
The song was sung by the Nigerian Songbird, Fireboy. For me, Fireboy has never dropped a bad song so I am a huge fan.
I made this cover weeks ago but I've been very shy to post it because I feel Afrobeats isn't my style (or more because everyone says it). Anyways, I'm done overthinking it and keeping it in my draft. I love it even if its a guitar cover and I know you guys will love it too.
Here are the lyrics, enjoy!
Omoge, no be so
Girl, you wan' capture my soul
Omoge, no be so
Make me wan wombolombo
Peru, para
Peru, Peru
Para I'm loo
Even Peru donde para
Tina tin jo si, I'm in Jozi
Mo'n k'orin fun won, won jo si
I'm not playing with you, I'm not joking
My third album is loading
Mi o kin fagbo but I'm on molly
I'm on duty but I'm on low key
They wan' do me, they wan' do me
They wan do me, gan, they wan' do me
Woni won wa mi, woni won wa mi
I'm in San Francisco jamming
Woni won wa mi, woni won wa mi
I just flew in from Miami
Peru, para
Peru, Peru
Para I'm loo
Even Peru donde para
She say she like my tunes
She say "Me, I never see a guy like you" (Like you)
Say you like my tattoos
Girl, me, I want to be inside you
She's my woman, inside puna
Sweet like sugar
In my new van, "Come to me"
Yeah, they swim like tuna
Woni won wa mi, woni won wa mi
I'm in San Francisco jamming
Woni won wa mi, woni won wa mi
I just flew in from Miami
Peru, para
Peru, Peru
Para I'm loo
Even Peru donde para
Peru, para
Peru, Peru
Para I'm loo
Even Peru donde para
Peru, para
Peru, Peru
Para I'm loo
Even Peru donde para

This song was hard to sing!
I avoid songs that have so many words because they make me run out of breath. So singing this song was a bit difficult but I rehearsed to know where I could take short breaths before continuing and I was able to scale through. Hallelujah!
There are so many songs I know that fit into this week's theme "nothing is impossible." Ironically, it we difficult to pick one because most of these songs had powerful performances. I mean if you're singing about strength, your vocals have to show it too.
As a Singer (not professionally though), I am very careful about the type of songs I sing because I understand I have a very soft vocal texture so I don't take powerful songs. So after disqualifying almost all the songs on my list, I decided to pick this particular song.
The title of this song is UNDERDOG and it was sung by ALICIA KEYS.
Who is an Underdog? According to Oxford Dictionary, an Underdog is a competitor thought to have little chance of winning a fight or contest.
If you know me, you will know I'm a huge fan of Alicia Keys. When this song was released, I became obsessed immediately. I have been to places in my life where God has uplifted me even when I know I never deserved it. This reminds me that no matter where I come from or what people think about me, I can always rise above it and choose my definitions by myself.
So I'm daring someone to believe the lyrics of this song and RISE today. Here are the lyrics and I hope you enjoy the song.
Ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh
She was walking in the street, looked up and noticed
He was nameless, he was homeless
She asked him his name and told him what hers was
He gave her a story 'bout a life
With a glint in his eye and a corner of a smile
One conversation, a simple moment
The things that change us if we notice
When we look up, sometimes
They said I would never make it
But I was built to break the mold
The only dream that I've been chasing is my own
So I sing a song for the hustlers trading at the bus stop
Single mothers waiting on a check to come
Young teachers, student doctors
Sons on the frontline knowing they don't get to run
This goes out to the underdog
Keep on keeping at what you love
You'll find that someday soon enough
You will rise up, rise up, yeah
Ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh
She's riding in a taxi back to the kitchen
Talking to the driver 'bout his wife and his children
On the run from a country where they put you in prison
For being a woman and speaking your mind
She looked in his eyes in the mirror and he smiled
One conversation, a single moment
The things that change us if we notice
When we look up, sometimes
They said I would never make it
But I was built to break the mold
The only dream that I've been chasing is my own
So I sing a song for the hustlers trading at the bus stop
Single mothers waiting on a check to come
Young teachers, student doctors
Sons on the frontline knowing they don't get to run
This goes out to the underdog
Keep on keeping at what you love
You'll find that someday soon enough
You will rise up, rise up, yeah
Ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh
Everybody rise up
You gonna rise up, ay
I sing a song for the hustlers trading at the bus stop
Single mothers waiting on a check to come
Young teachers, student doctors
Sons on the frontline knowing they don't get to run
This goes out to the underdog
Keep on keeping at what you love
You'll find that someday soon enough
You will rise up, rise up, yeah
Ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh
Ooh, ooh, ooh

The moon is one of the most beautiful satellites we have. Movies and Stories tell us how magical the moon is. Even though some sound like daydreams, the enchanting aura of the moon can not go unnoticed.
Some people believe talking to the warm glowing big ball is a way of communicating with someone you love who is far away from you. That is what this song is about. Looking up at the moon trying to talk to the other person who is also looking at the moon. It's a very emotional song everyone relates to because we can all connect to the feeling of looking at the moon and having wistful thoughts.
Have you ever thought about how the nights would be without the warm light of the moon?
The whole world will be cast into blind shattering darkness. You would not be able to check your next step or see whatever is right in front of you. I know this because I have experienced a 'moonless' night before.
It happened during one of my days in a Polytechnic in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State in the Western part of Nigeria. I was stuck in a mild windy storm on my way back from the library around 2 am. Exam week was nearing and I needed to brush up on my studying.
It started as a little wind but by the time I walked farther, the cloud started to darken. I held my clothes tighter as the wind rustled through them. My teeth chattered from the cold.
Suddenly, the wind blew with an alarming wave and the light of the moon immediately went out, hidden behind the dark clouds that had filled the sky. My sight turned stark black and I could not see a thing! I was so scared and almost turned back but I had already almost gotten to my hostel.
Long story cut short, I was able to surmount the courage to use my phone's flashlight to navigate my way home safely, which I am grateful to God for. My safe journey was not the only thing I was grateful for. That day, I learned to appreciate something always present, and I fail to acknowledge its value and that is THE MOON.
When I heard the theme 'moonshine.' The song that came first to my head was moonlight by Ariana grande. I immediately started rehearsing but soon I realized there were some tasks that mere mortals cannot undertake and one of them is trying to perform Ariana grande song without proper vocal lessons. So I started looking for songs that would not destroy my vocal chords and will be from my heart.
A day later, I just started absent-mindedly humming a tune of one of my favorite classics when I realized the song went with the theme of the week. I immediately got my phone and started recording.
This week I'll be singing a song titled Talking To The Moon by Bruno Mars.
I really hope you enjoy this because I enjoyed recording it. Here are the lyrics:
I know you're somewhere out there
Somewhere far away
I want you back, I want you back
My neighbors think I'm crazy
But they don't understand
You're all I had, you're all I had
At night, when the stars light up my room
I sit by myself
Talking to the moon
Trying to get to you
In hopes you're on the other side talking to me too
Or am I a fool who sits alone talking to the moon?
Oh-oh
I'm feeling like I'm famous, the talk of the town
They say I've gone mad
Yeah, I've gone mad
But they don't know what I know
'Cause when the sun goes down, someone's talking back
Yeah, they're talking back, oh
At night, when the stars light up my room
I sit by myself
Talking to the moon
Trying to get to you
In hopes you're on the other side talking to me too
Or am I a fool who sits alone talking to the moon?
Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah
Do you ever hear me calling?
(Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah-ah) oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh
'Cause every night, I'm talking to the moon
Still trying to get to you
In hopes you're on the other side talking to me too
Or am I a fool who sits alone talking to the moon?
Oh-oh
I know you're somewhere out there
Somewhere far away

"Amor De Familia" translates to "family love."
Imagine having a life without a family.
No mom or dad to fawn over you till it gets annoying. No brother or sister to have childish fights with. No lover at home to talk to when you come back home from a long work day.
That will be a nightmare. I think we can all agree on that. Nobody wants to live a lonely life.
From experiencing a mother's love from infancy to giving love to our infants, nothing in this world feels stronger than the love and the bond between you and your family.
Family love is the first and most crucial love we all experience. It is the first community we were introduced to from the moment we were born.
It is the foundation that forms the relationship between a child and the world.
Family love is so important to a child that when it is missing in a child's life, it will affect the way the child interacts with the world.
Even to an adult, this type of love is equally important. When a man or a woman reaches a marriageable age, they start to search for someone they can start a family with.
History has told us how people went through death to protect their families. Even today, soldiers still go to the chilling war front to protect the people they love.
There is a popular saying " blood is thicker than water." This is saying that the bond between family members is stronger than any bond that could be formed with friends.
This song was performed by Avicii (Rest In Peace). The singer expresses his deep love for his brother and sister. He tells how he would be there for them in whatever circumstances.
Here are the lyrics of the song:
Hey brother
There's an endless road to rediscover
Hey sister
Know that water's sweet but blood is thicker
Oh, if the sky comes falling down
For you
There's nothing in this world I wouldn't do
Hey brother
Do you still believe in one another?
Hey sister
Do you still believe in love? I wonder
Oh, if the sky comes falling down
For you
There's nothing in this world I wouldn't do
What if I'm far from home?
Oh, brother, I will hear you call
What if I lose it all?
Oh, sister, I will help you out
Oh, if the sky comes falling down
For you
There's nothing in this world I wouldn't do
Hey brother
There's an endless road to rediscover
Hey sister
Do you still believe in love? I wonder
Oh, if the sky comes falling down
For you
There's nothing in this world I wouldn't do
What if I'm far from home?
Oh, brother, I will hear you call
What if I lose it all?
Oh, sister, I will help you out
Oh, if the sky comes falling down
For you
There's nothing in this world I wouldn't do
My favorite line in the song. "Oh. When the sky comes falling down for you, there is nothing in this world I wouldn't do for you."
Family members can be annoying people but they are the best gift from God.
Now that you're done with this article, pick up your phone, call them and tell them how much you love them.

I'm throwing a big shout out to everyone who knows this version of this song. The actual original. Not the feature with Future and Drake which was nice but I'll still pick the original. Tems' song don't need to be remixed, they are perfect the way they are.
Okay I won't lie and say this is my favorite song off Tems' Debut album because it isn't. My favorite song is "Free mind". If you haven't listened to it, you definitely should. That song made me understand that Tems is a Nigerian national treasure.
This song for me is about coming to terms with how you are being treated and speaking up about. She ends the chorus with the line "I will wait for you." After speaking up, she lets it known that she will still wait. I love how soulful the song is. The tune just soothes your heart chords.
What made me sing it this song? I wish could give a deep answer but I can't. Everyone has been playing it and it stuck so I just made a random video singing it. It came out good and I thought to share it with my hive family.
I hope you guys enjoy it
Here are the lyrics.
Tell me why you're crying now kini big deal
(Higher, higher, higher, higher)
When you gave me something I don't really feel
(Higher, higher, higher, higher)
But you knew that already
When I found you on the ground
You were dying (higher, higher, higher, higher)
Now you come into my yard, uninvited
Can you see me on the edge?
I'm enlightened (higher, higher, higher, higher)
If the world was ending
Would you cry or would try to get me?
Tell me now, I want you to be clear, yeah (tell me)
Tell me now, I need you to be clear, yeah (tell me)
I will wait for you, for you
I will wait for you
I will wait for you

You know that crush that slides into your head when you are not expecting it? You are about to brush your teeth and when you pick up the tooth paste.
BAM!
The flash of their smiling face brushes through your vision and that familiar tingly feeling they always give you resurfaces. Then you find yourself thinking about them for minutes before you snap out of it.
This song just takes you on that love cruise. That's what it's about, the beginning stage of love where everything is lovely and rosy.
I really hope you enjoy this one.

I WROTE THIS SONG OUT OF PAIN IN MY ROOM
Let me give you the background story that motivated this song. Growing up, my parents did their best to shield me from the world because of the area I grew up in; I grew up in the ghetto. I didn’t get to meet people outside the scope of family friends so what I got to know about humans, I learnt from my TV screen and books. I saw life in rainbows and colors, believed everyone and everything could be good if you wished it.
Until I got to the University
I’ve always been told the University changes a person and honestly and I finally understand. I was slammed by the harsh reality of life. I experienced heartbreaks, betrayals and hurt from different people and in different form. It was a really traumatic life changing experience but I am grateful for it. I am grateful because it made me love myself more, brought amazing friends and I made amazing memories. The experience molded me and made me understand life a whole lot better.
I’ve learnt to love me because that’s who matters to me the most. If I can’t love me, then I can’t love others. That’s how important loving me is. Which is why I wrote this song to remind myself that in the end, taking care of me is what matters.
I hope this inspires you to love you too.
So I got the beat off YouTube and I recorded it with phone using an app called BANDLAB. here’s a short lyric video. Enjoy

Hello there! I hope you are doing well? For my entry this week, I picked somebody like you by Adele. The theme of the week is “undisclosed words” and I think this song really fits that but I won’t lie to you, I picked the song because it’s an Adele song, I mean Adele is amazing and singing one of her greatest songs is an opportunity I will never miss. Yes, you are right. I am a big Adele fan!
This song is from the angle of a lover who finds out her ex lover has moved on. She lets him know how she still feels about him because she feels she has no reason to hide it anymore. She wishes him good and lets him know she is also ready to move on. She is letting go off grudges and painful memories even though she doesn’t want to. She had been hiding all these emotions but now, she is revealing her undisclosed words.
I picked the song because it’s a very emotional song that everyone can relate to. Everyone at a particular stage of their lives have experienced a lover moving on and it is not a pleasant feeling. It sometimes even gets so hard to express that feeling that some prefer not to even say anything about it. Singing songs like this can help you connect with that pain, understand your emotions more and help you express better which will help in the healing progress. This song is really special to me and I hope you enjoy it.
So a little background about the song. (Source: Wikipedia)
"Someone like You" is a song recorded by English singer-songwriter Adele. It was written and produced by Adele and Dan Wilson for her second studio album, 21 (2011). It is the second single and final track on the album. The song was inspired by a broken relationship with one's life partner, and lyrically speaks of Adele's coming to terms with it. XL Recordings released the song as the second single from the album on 24 January 2011 (the same day the album was released) in the United Kingdom and on 9 August 2011 in the United States. Accompanied only by a piano in the song (played by co-writer Wilson), Adele sings about the end of the relationship with her ex-partner.
"Someone like You" received universal critical acclaim, with reviewers choosing it as a highlight of 21 and praised the lyrics, its simple sound and Adele's vocal performance. It became a global success, topping the charts in nineteen countries and reaching the top 10 in various other regions. Following a universally praised performance of the song at the 31st Brit Awards, it became Adele's first number-one single in the UK and stayed on the top of the chart for five weeks, eventually becoming the best-selling single of the year in the region. The song also become Adele's second number one in the US, which made her the first British female solo artist in the history of the Billboard Hot 100 to have two number ones from the same album. In July 2011, it became the first single of the decade to sell a million units in the UK and it was certified 5× Platinum by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), as well as being certified 6× Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). As of 2022, "Someone like You" has sold over 17 million copies worldwide making it one of the best-selling digital singles of all-time, as well as the third most downloaded single of all-time in the UK and the fourth best-selling single of the 21st century.
Lyrics:
I heard that you're settled down
That you found a girl and you're married now
I heard that your dreams came true
Guess she gave you things, I didn't give to you
Old friend, why are you so shy?
Ain't like you to hold back or hide from the light
I hate to turn up out of the blue, uninvited
But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it
I had hoped you'd see my face
And that you'd be reminded that for me, it isn't over
Never mind, I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you, too
"Don't forget me, " I beg
I remember you said
"Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead"
"Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead"
You know how the time flies
Only yesterday was the time of our lives
We were born and raised in a summer haze
Bound by the surprise of our glory days
I hate to turn up out of the blue, uninvited
But I couldn't stay away, I couldn't fight it
I had hoped you'd see my face
And that you'd be reminded that for me, it isn't over
Never mind, I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you, too
"Don't forget me, " I begged
I remember you said
"Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead"
Nothing compares, no worries or cares
Regrets and mistakes, they're memories made
Who would have known how bittersweet this would taste?
Never mind, I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you
"Don't forget me, " I beg
I remember you said
"Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead"
Never mind, I'll find someone like you
I wish nothing but the best for you, too
"Don't forget me, " I begged
I remember you said
"Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead"
"Sometimes it lasts in love, but sometimes it hurts instead"

Hello there, so this is my first post on Hive and on the Hive Open Mic challenge. This is my entry for week 107 captioned "Brave heart".
The moment I saw the caption, I knew the song I wanted to sing. This particular song means a lot to me and a lot of people in the world. When it was released, it skyrockted on the charts around the world because it's clear and strong message of self empowerment and standing up against obstacles in life. The title of this song is Roar by Katy Perry.
Roar is a song by American singer Katy Perry for her fourth album "Prism". In February 2020, the music video for Roar reached 3 billion views making it the first video by a female to reach the milestone in YouTube's history. It was nominated for two Grammy awards.
For me, Roar is a song that really helped me when I suffered from low self esteem. Its powerful lyrics always had me feeling better after listening and it's catchy tune always made me keep it on repeat. I would recommend Roar to anyone to listen to because to me, a song is more than a tune, it's a message and when I find a song that does both wonderfully, it becomes a treasure to me and that is what Roar is to me. A treasure.
Here are the lyrics to the song
I used to bite my tongue and hold my breath
Scared to rock the boat and make a mess
So I sat quietly, agreed politely
I guess that I forgot I had a choice
I let you push me past the breaking point
I stood for nothing, so I fell for everything
You held me down, but I got up (hey)
Already brushing off the dust
You hear my voice, you hear that sound
Like thunder, gonna shake the ground
You held me down, but I got up (hey)
Get ready 'cause I've had enough
I see it all, I see it now
I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter
Dancing through the fire
'Cause I am a champion, and you're gonna hear me roar
Louder, louder than a lion
'Cause I am a champion, and you're gonna hear me roar
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
You're gonna hear me roar
Now I'm floatin' like a butterfly
Stinging like a bee, I earned my stripes
I went from zero, to my own hero
You held me down, but I got up (hey)
Already brushing off the dust
You hear my voice, you hear that sound
Like thunder, gonna shake the ground
You held me down, but I got up (hey)
Get ready 'cause I've had enough
I see it all, I see it now
I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter
Dancing through the fire
'Cause I am a champion, and you're gonna hear me roar
Louder, louder than a lion
'Cause I am a champion, and you're gonna hear me roar
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
You're gonna hear me roar
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh (you'll hear me roar)
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
You're gonna hear me roar
Roar, roar, roar, roar, roar
I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter
Dancing through the fire
'Cause I am a champion, and you're gonna hear me roar
Louder, louder than a lion
'Cause I am a champion, and you're gonna hear me roar
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh (yeah)
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
You're gonna hear me roar
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh (you'll hear me roar)
Oh-oh-oh-oh-oh
You're gonna hear me roar
My favorite line is:
I got the eye of a tiger, fighter, dancing through the fire cos I champion and you're gonna hear me roar.
I hope you enjoy my entry.
