One relatable feeling is that of losing someone you once called "my everything," and they too did the same for you. Moving on can be challenging, and forgetting the person can be the most impossible thing. Notwithstanding, there may be some lingering feeling of still wanting that person, or that same old feeling you both once shared—or maybe not.

For Hive Open Mic's theme this week, Never Give Up, I bring this song to you: Forget Me by Lewis Capaldi. It's been several months since I came up here, and it feels good to do this again. Hopefully, you enjoy this one. I know I did.

One thing that I can spend countless hours doing is playing my guitar. And it is especially so when it comes to worship songs. One of such songs is Yeshua by Jesus Image. It hits differently every time I hear it, and even more so when I play worship guitar to it.

The first time I heard it, I couldn't help but think that it was indeed a beautiful and powerful song. No wonder there are countless versions and covers of it all over the web. Cover upon cover, version upon version, yet another one by my very self.

Without further ado, I bring to you my guitar cover of the song. It is my entry for Hive Learners Creative Sunday. I would like to release stuff regularly, so I thought to start with this one. I hope you find this cover just as beautiful as the many others that are out there and, of course, the original.

For the exact energy I needed for this song, however, I had to look for some drums to add to it. I can't play the drums, and I cannot synthesize them with a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation), so I picked one that suited the occasion. I'll provide the link to it here, of course.

The Hive Learners community recently got 5000 subscribers, and we are celebrating it. For that, there is going to be a celebration video with some of us in the community with party poppers.

Getting a party popper was going to be expensive and too far to travel into town for, so I opted for the DIY version suggested, which I could do. The new problem was getting the things I needed because, well, I stay in a very remote area where not many things happen.

I set out to search for all I needed in my area—which isn't so much when you see them—hoping to get them. Fortunately for me, after going deep into places I wouldn't usually go, I found them all.

In this video, you will find the following items I used to make my party popper:

• Balloons
• Paper tape
• Cardboards
• Scissors

I figured a video would be a more immersive experience, so here we have it. And it fits right in for my first Creative Sunday entry. In a few days, hopefully, we'll get to see the celebration video.

For many of us, it is undisputable that Hive has been a spectacular encounter. I wouldn't consider mine to be an accident but fate, because, really, I would say that I am a much different person in a much better place because of this very encounter. And my early days was blissful, thanks to the OCD onboarding program.

In this video, for the HiveGhana engagement activity pivoted about the impact of Hive in our lives, I talk about my perspective on what Hive is to me, how it affects me as a space and environment, and how it has come through in times of dire need.

For one, there have been incredible people I have come to know and grow fond of, and I may never have crossed paths with them had I not found my way here, Hive. Another is the effective use of niche-specific communities that help focus ideas and concepts of similar nature to facilitate the right environment for creators.

Undeniably, too, the fact that Hive "truly works" and has that ability to literally provide for one is a fact that's still too good to be true. I need not talk about the author and curation rewards, the massive APR on HBD savings, or the tokens we have around too.

Christmas in Nigeria means many things, and one of them is that there will be a lot of events surrounding it. My church, Father's House, is never last on the list to host one. As a matter of fact, they have been doing so for, ughh, I think over 15 years.

Keresimesi is the name of our annual Christmas concert, and it has always been the biggest for us and a massive one in the city of Abeokuta. It normarlly is scheduled to be held on a Sunday that's really close to Christmas day, so we had it slated for December 18th, 2022. Keresimesi means Christmas in Yoruba, by the way.

For months now, we have been rehearsing in and out over many songs and arrangements, and they have been intense. And personally, it has been challenging for me as I have had to deal with it and school at the same time. It is even more challenging because I am in my final year, and it is not in any way easier than it has always been.

At some point, I didn't want to participate any longer, and this was because the whole pressure was taking a toll on me. In the middle of preparing for the event, we had to juggle regular church activities like ministrations on Sundays and Wednesdays. And besides, I couldn't afford to pay for the uniform. It was going to cost me $25 to have my uniform sewn. And we all know how deep the dip has been lately.

I had earlier made a decision to not join them to perform, but I reconsidered it for certain reasons. I thought about the fact that it may be the last time I get to jam with my friends like @starstrings01 and @vheekthorjay, whom I have grown fond of in the last couple of months.

And moreso, Starstrings and I were the only guitarists (out of three) that were available. I couldn't leave him to learn and play all of the songs we'd be performing. It may have been a little too much for him.

Unfortunately, life happened, and Starstrings was no longer going to play. So it was all me for the program. That wasn't funny in any case.

Fast Forward to the D-day

The event was to start at 5:00 p.m. and then end around 7 p.m. But with my experience over the years, I knew we could start late, and that may result in the event ending really late, say, at 8 or 9 p.m. And leaving so late would mean that getting transportation back home would be hectic and expensive. So, I made plans for scheduling rides to and from the event.

Starstrings was eventually going to show up, but because he had not been with us for rehearsals, he was still not going to play. And then @creativepearl sings with the choir, so we all met at my place on that day and were to leave together. However, we couldn't get a ride as we had planned, and then we eventually had to take public transport as we were already running late for soundcheck.

We got there quick enough, and while creativepearl went on to join the choir, I went up stage to get my guitar and effects pedal all set up. It took a little while as things changed; the sound system was different, and I didn't know where all my equipment was at first.

Now, you would expect that our uniforms should have been available before D-Day, say, the day before (at least).But no, it was a few hours before the show, and we still had not seen our uniforms. I, personally, did not like this as it did not allow me to prepare adequately for my dressing. I was even afraid that there may be errors, and had I been given my uniform the day before, I would have been able to correct the errors early enough.

Just after I had finished setting up my guitar, we began to soundcheck. Some choir members with microphones started to sing, and then we all collectively started to perform together, just to ensure that everything was right before the show started. The soundcheck lasted for a long time, and I really enjoyed it as I played really well.

Thankfully, we got our uniforms on time, and they suited me perfectly. I was really glad that it was fine and there were no errors, as it may have affected my mood that evening. Looking good was somehow a top priority for me.

Soon after, the show kicked off, and the energy we started with was already high. This was a good sign that everything was going well. And just then, we, the musicians, went to take photos and make some videos. At this time, we weren't supposed to be on stage, so we seized the opportunity.

Our time to minister came, and we (the Crystal Sound musicians) had to welcome the singers (the Crystal Sound voices) with the montage we had prepared for the first session.

The video you see is the first montage we had for the first session. The only thing I didn't like about the video is that I was only shown for about five seconds. You'd see me somewhere in the video carrying a guitar.

As a matter of fact, I didn't even get to take photos or make videos of myself playing the guitar. I was really pained to learn that nobody helped with that. But I am glad I didn't even think about that before it was time to play; I wouldn't have been happy with that. Nevertheless, I had a job to do, and I was required to do it right, so I focused on what I had practiced for the show.

Of course, we had to go eat at some point...we actually ate a lot that day.

From the beginning until the end of the whole performance, I played like I was not going to play anymore. Not that I went overboard, but I made sure to play what I had practiced and also enjoy myself while doing so.

We had the second session to perform, but because it was already getting late and the guest minister was yet to perform, they cut our time by a lot and we could only do a bit of the second session.

Getting home

Remember when I talked about getting home really late at night was going to be an issue? Well, our plan failed again, thanks to me, and we all had to struggle to get home with all our luggage in our hands.

The church had, however, arranged food for us to eat at the end of the program, but we couldn't wait to eat so we just left with our food in our hands and went on to struggle for food.

We mangaged to find a cab and we got home not too late. Although, I couldn't wait to get home before devouring the chicken I found in the plate of jollof rice and as well as the plate of rice in the cab.

We go home around 10 p.m. that Sunday night. I had a long day ahead of school ahead, and a lot of responsibilites unattended, and I was really exhausted, so I went to bed immediately.

I felt really fulfulled as I eventually performed that day. We all had fun together, made music together, ate a lot of junks together.

This week's theme for Hive Open Mic is "Creativity & Freestyle." And for something spicy, the thought of a duet came up. I know it's not something new, but it's something creative to try. Today, we have with us our amazing artist, @sekani. And we bring to you, Shallow.

Shallow, from the movie A Star Is Born, is a song that inspires emotion. At first, the true meaning of the lyrics might not be explicit, but it can be deduced from the movie. It's a dialog between a man and a woman in love. The "accomplished" man asks if she doesn't want more, and the "contented" woman asks him what else he could be searching for. Together they explored stardom and love, but it all ended with the girl singing a song vowing never to fall in love again.

This duet had been planned way before the unveiling of the theme, "Creativity & Freestyle." It was initially meant to be for a previous theme, "Heartbreak." But things just did not work out as planned. And then we almost did not want to join in any theme for our duet as we had missed the first. But here we are...

Regardless of how challenging it was, making this duet was a lot of fun, educative, and enlightening. It really is not just about making some songs, or just a cover, but the experience that comes with doing things like this; working with people to create.

So, with a gentle note, I say to you, do enjoy the music.

Here we are again, with another heartbreak song. We have chosen this week’s theme for Hive Open Mic to be "Desamor," meaning "Heartbreak."

Heartbreak songs hit differently, you could agree. Well, not for everyone, but one can say they are powerful ones as they usually come from a place of pain. Today, I bring to you "Bruises" by Lewis Capaldi.

I’m no Swifty (fan of Taylor Swift), but I kind of like deep songs like this, and Lewis does very well to deliver them. Not that my heart is shattered into a million pieces spread across the universe. But let’s not go there.

This song is quite simple, yet for some reason I found it really challenging. I have known it for a long time, but still I couldn't just get what I wanted.

I literally had to do a hundred and seventy takes to bring this to you. It sure would sound like an over-exaggerated figure, but I assure you, as an amateur musician like myself, it isn't.

At some point, my PC crashed, with all I had done, and then I had to restart and go through all the rigor again. I couldn't be any happier as I went through all the stress. I couldn't "not" put in my best into it.

It sure wouldn't sound like a lot happened, but believe me that my soul went into this, as always. So, so ensure you listen with an open mind an enjoy it.

It has been seven weeks since my first Hive Open Mic entry into the community, and I am here again because of the theme for this week. Most of the rest have seemed somewhat challenging to join in (or I have just been lazy, rather). But here I am now, again.

This week's theme is Nothing is impossible. And I chose to render the song by Bethel Music, Goodness of God. It aligns perfectly with what I think of that phrase, so there were no second thoughts about it.

The goodness of God is a strong tower that holds me, my family, and friends together. It keeps running after me, and I just cannot hide from it. It is evident to me that I have lived in it, and that is how I have my being. It has been faithful in my life, and with every breath I am able, I will sing of the goodness of God.

It is a wordhip session for me, and I have put a lot of effort into delivering it as best as I can. You may want to use earphones for a more immersive experience. Last but not least... Enjoy!

Han pasado siete semanas desde mi primera entrada en Hive Open Mic en la comunidad, y estoy aquí de nuevo por el tema de esta semana. La mayor parte del resto me ha parecido un tanto desafiante para participar (o simplemente he sido perezoso, más bien). Pero aquí estoy ahora, de nuevo.

El tema de esta semana es Nada es imposible. Y elegí interpretar la canción de Bethel Music, Goodness of God. Se ajusta perfectamente a lo que pienso de esa frase, así que no me lo pensé dos veces.

La bondad de Dios es una fuerte torre que me sostiene a mí, a mi familia y a mis amigos. Sigue corriendo detrás de mí, y no puedo esconderme de ella. Es evidente que he vivido en ella, y así tengo mi ser. Ha sido fiel en mi vida, y con cada aliento que pueda, cantaré la bondad de Dios.

Para mí es una sesión de palabras, y he puesto mucho empeño en transmitirla lo mejor posible. Es posible que quieras usar auriculares para una experiencia más envolvente. Por último, pero no menos importante... Disfruta!

Playing the guitar is something that I love and will always love. But I find myself sharing more of other things here on Hive, and less about my life with my guitar. So now, I am making more deliberate efforts towards making more music and sharing it with you.

I came up with some lines on the guitar and grooved around them. I titled it "champagne" because I was feeling victorious at the moment I made the video. I have some goals that I set for myself, and I have been achieving a few lately. So, just like a glass of champagne is taken in celebration of a feat, I soliloquized with my guitar as a "pat in the back."

It is AFRITUNES WEEK 22, and we have another guitar cover fromOlujay again, after such a very looooong time. Apparently, I got so used to writing that I just never really made guitar videos after the last one. But now, the narrative may be changing.

For this week's edition, I made a guitar cover of the very popular song in my country, It's Plenty by Burna Boy. "It's plenty" is slang in Nigeria that I am s\not sure how to describe, but my pals and I just use it to jestfully celebrate each other. And the song translates to celebrating and enjoying life, even with the little that one may seem to have.

I tried not to do plenty things in this song, as I love the vibes it gives, but I sure made sure to enjoy myself while playing it. I trust you too should enjoy it, as it is a must you should.

Hello! This is my entry to the Hive Open Mic contest. I sang a cover of the song, Say Something by AGBW, a once popular song. The theme for this week is "Love Hurts," chosen by @Khaleesii.

I chose this song after discarding about a hundred other songs I had in mind; I am very sure many of us can relate to that. But other than the reason of it being the last resort, I actually chose this because it relates to a time when I, for once, actually truly loved someone and I had been let down. That broke me. Among the many songs that I added to my playlist then to help get by, this one was one of the few that could really relate to how I felt.

Love is actually a beautiful thing, but it is also a very powerful emotion. It can basically make or break you. However, if you ask me if I would love again, I would say absolutely.Love is sweet. All this "hard guy" stuff we are doing is not paying some of us. But, of course, I'm not going to paint my ex in a negative light.I made mistakes. So in the end, you could as well say that I hurt myself.

I know my entry is probably the last on the list, but I could not let another week pass without my entry, regardless of all that I have been through this week. I had actually been inspired by another user, @sekina, when I saw her entry for last week and I was absolutely pumped. And I figured this is a good way to channel that pain into something useful.

Before you go, I need to mention that this is my first time making a cover and producing one on FL Studio. Damn, it was hard. I applaud everyone who has participated in these Open Mic contests. My last cover was with a guitar. I thought that was hard. Now my opinions have changed. Oh well, I hope to keep at it so I can get better.

In this video tutorial, I explain how to use a phone to improve and make your photos look way better using the Snapseed application by Google LLC

For explanation purposes, I use a photo of myself taken under usual circumstances.

I used Snapseed alone to achieve this.

The Snapseed application is available on Google Play for Android devices and on App Store of Apple devices.

On opening the application, you should find an 'import' icon to import your photo.

After importing the photo you should then find many tools on your dashboard. And there are three (3) sections under which you would find them all.

The three (3) sections are;

• STYLES
• TOOLS
• EXPORT

Under STYLES, you will find quick settings that can be applied immediately to your photo. Each of these settings bear distinct names and apply different changes. Some of them are; Last edits, Portrait, Smooth, Pop, Accentuate, Faded Glow...

Under TOOLS you will find tools such as Tune image, Details, Curves, Crop, Rotate, Perspective, and Selective, to mention the few that were used in the video.

And finally, under EXPORT you can immediately share the image to social media. You can save a copy of the photo edit. You can export in a specific file format.

THE PROCESS

Preliminary steps;

• I start by importing the photo from my phone gallery into the Snapseed application.
• To remove the area of too much sunlight, I simply cut it out by using the Crop tool.

• To adjust the horizon and perspective to make the human figure look upright, I used the Perspective feature. The Perspective feature works by reshaping the photo with tilting.

• To adjust the straightness automatically, I use the auto-rotate feature in the

• To take out the area needed, I take the photo through the Crop tool again.

Colour tone adjustment steps;

• To begin adjusting the colour tone of the photo, I start by taking it through the Tune image section.

Under the Tune image section, there are the following features that can be applied;

BRIGHTNESS - To adjust the brightness of the photo.

CONTRAST - To adjust difference between colours.

SATURATION - To adjust the intensity of colours.

AMBIENCE - To adjust the light balance

HIGHLIGHTS - To adjust the brightness of light areas.

SHADOWS - To adjust the darkness of dark areas.

WARMTH - To adjust the coolness, or warmth of the photo.

Black and white extraction process.

• To make the areas other than the human figure become mono colored, I start my using the Black and White feature.
• You will find different styles of mono colour here. I selected the Darken sky.
• Then click, apply.
• The use the view last edits icon to open the applied edits and select the Black and White applied. Then click settings.
• In the settings, use the shade the human figure to apply the colour. After wards, click Apply.

Finally, you can use the Details tool to add more sharpness and structure to the photo.

Then save your photo when you are done. Voilà!

The things that could be achieved on Snapseed alone are quite vast. Depending on the condition of the photo you're trying to work on and the desired results you're after, a lot of the tools Snapseed offers may be used, or just a few.

One example is not enough to cover the many tools on Snapseed, so I'll be sharing tips and tutorials on them.

There are many other great applications that you could use these tips and tricks on, like Lightroom by Adobe.
