By now If you have been following this podcast you know what mission-driven is about, but not necessarily about where it came from. Well in today’s episode we will be talking with the director of mission-driven himself, Paul Brantley Ph.D. to learn why mission-driven was developed and how it can be a practical tool in supporting your leadership in these difficult times. If you are a sports fan I am sure you have listened or even taken part in post-game evaluations of in game outcomes. However, what may surprise you is that often the first instincts as to why a team won or lost a game are not accurate. It is only as the coaches and media analysts study the film for themselves that they are able to ascertain the true reason for the success or failure as team. As leaders we need to be doing the same type of analysis in our churches and institutions. It is not enough to know whether we won or lost but why. In this episode Mike and Travis take a deep dive into the discipline of execution and how to stay on course while not ignoring the whirlwinds that inevitably try to blow you away from the direction you want your church to go.
As leaders it is easy to assume everyone on the team understands the vision and how their particular ministry supports its accomplishment, but far too often that is not the case in reality. Without regular, healthy accountability it is not a matter of if leaders will go rouge but when. In this episode Mike and Travis discuss the reasons why church organizations in particular tend to balk at accountability, and what healthy accountability looks like in a mission-driven church.
It’s one thing to do "online church" during a pandemic and it’s another to do online church well, so how can church leaders use the online platform effectively to further the mission of the church? And what are the essential elements we should be evaluating? Travis and Rodlie discuss these questions and more as they share some of their insights from their own experience doing church online over the past 8 months. Rodlie is currently the administrative pastor at the Pioneer Memorial Church in Berrien Springs, MI.
