Finally managed to have an interview with an insider/practitioner of consensual non-monogamy. Laura is sharp & kept me on my toes. She threw new terms & different ideas at me & I had a blast. Enjoy Part 1 of 2! Have questions that I haven't answered yet or interview ideas for the show? DM me on Instagram at sidepiece_season.
There are so many readily available distractions out there & sadly most of us are in a near constant state of poor focus. Stop blaming ADHD! The resulting lack of focus results from our lack of establishing priorities & then keeping ourselves accountable. There, I said it! Love to hear your thoughts. Anybody interested in cohosting an episode with me? DM me!

There is a reason for everything that we do. It doesn't have to be high minded. Knowing the reason, establishing your boundaries, & adhering to your boundaries deliver the best results! Stop f@#king around out there on dating people that are not the right fit. (City bois/City girls excluded.) Drop me a line & tell me your craziest, strangest, or most disappointing dating stories.
IG: sidepiece_season
Businesses are generating incredible wealth from dating apps & yet loneliness has climbed to at all-time highs. That's strange right? Sure it is a multifactorial problem butter the apps helping or hurting? What do you think?
IG: sidepiece_season
In Speech it is crucial to know your audience. Communicating in relationships requires this, however it's even more critical to know oneself. Knowing yourself enables you to convey your messages clearly & with exactness. A great deal of discontent is spawned in the gaps of communication. Fix it & flourish!
IG: sidepiece_season
This question ruffles feathers for some reason. Folks get all emotional but really all that's being asked is "Do you have & can you show me your business plan?" The investment will be time & energy. They are asking for things that cannot be seen. You should have have an answer. If they don't like it - oh well. If you think your answer sucks - that's on you. I took it back to business school on this one. What are your thoughts?
IG: sidepiece_season
My take on 3 of your questions.
1) Should I give the person that cheated on me a second chance?
2) How do I make sure that I am not getting played in my relationship?
3) Is there is a love that lasts forever?
Have more questions? Want to dive deeper? Drop me a line.

So you found yourself someone special. Seemingly the most awesome human on the planet - maybe ever. Fantastic! It's the love right out of your favorite songs. It seems like this is it, "THE ONE!" Well then, sit right down & talk about all the things that you hold dear to your heart & all of those you want from them! Time to be an open book. Are you ready for that?
IG: @sidepiece_season
Hello there! I end up saying this a lot. & here we are again: NOBODY HAS TELEPATHY! You have to say what's on your mind. When it comes to sex there's too much that you could COULD be in to. I cannot guess. Nobody can. God will not give us divine revelation as to what really gets you off, sorry. Long term you not expressing that is going to cause more problems than it solves. FRFR

As a man who has occasionally been on some b@llsh#t I feel completely confident in saying that if your relationship is not going well it's because YOU are on some bs! In this episode I explain why? DM me & let's make it a dialogue.

Sometimes we get rather cavalier with our time in our relationships & in our lives. That is one of the ways that we end up sabotaging ourselves & our relationships. What about it, is that you? Send me a DM.

Where is your relationship heading? Are your goals aligned? Are you ready for whatever comes your way?

Greeting all! This episode focuses on some of the major factors that lead to the demise of marriages & long term relationships. I'm still blaming individual & trash talking all the quick fix gurus out there being disingenuous. Send me a DM @sidepiece_season on IG. Thank You to everybody that followed & wrote a review last week; I appreciate you very much!
Somehow the notion that friends with benefit (FWB) are equivalent to serious relationships has taken hold. Additionally some folks use FWB as a distraction & delude themselves into thinking that they do not want more &/or cannot get more. I disagree. Dating is a dumpster fire these days, but that is no reason to abandon all hope. What is on your list of needs for/from long-term relationships? DM your list to @sidepiece_season on Instagram.
Episode 101 addendum. Here are a few things that I feel like I should have said.
IG: sidepiece_season
Last week I was asked to talk to this really smart kid after his first breakup. He is a teenager but this advice applies across the board. I was kicking around a name for this list. What do you think of the Sidepiece Five Piece? Let me on IG @sidepiece_season & if you like this episode send it to a friend. Thank You for your support!!!
For #100 I wanted to do something somewhat different from my normal show. There was an article about a man who hired killers to murder his sidepiece & her boyfriend. I had to dig around for facts that were less sensational & I found them on the KXAN website. Link to follow. I brought in some special backup for this episode. Enjoy it! https://www.kxan.com/news/crime/former-austin-car-dealer-tried-to-arrange-another-murder-after-arrest-us-doj-says/

Sometimes we are disrupting the whole vibe & we don't even know it. Why? Because all of us have our own BS that we bring to the table. Sorry, you're NOT perfect. This episode was inspired by one off-hand remark from a fellow podcaster. Let me know what you think. DM me at sidepiece_season over on IG. I answer all my DMs. It's really not a bot!

Jordan D'nelle was passing through Arizona & stopped by to kick it in real life! Most of it did not happen where my gear was located so though we talked for closer to 7 hours this is all I have to show for it. Thanks Jordan!

Last episode Katrina mentioned John Gottman's research (not by name) & I have read a few of his books. He has insights that resonate & so this episode I touch on some of his findings.
IG: sidepiece_season
This episode I interviewed Katrina. We work together & one day I overheard a portion of the story of her divorce while simultaneously battling cancer. It was jaw dropping & so I immediately asked her if she would share her story on the show. Nerves & all, she obliged. Thanks Katrina!
This episode contains comments regarding sexual assault. Be advised!
Paula from the podcast Talk Shit With P stopped by to record. The topics were broad & sparked many thoughts. There is a lot packed in to this one. Let me know how you enjoyed it.

Just a little bit about attention. Too much & not enough are both problems. Attention from the wrong person of people is a problem. Sometimes it is your own personal desire for high levels of attention that ends up causing your woes. I'd love to hear from you with your comments & questions. DM me @sidepiece_season on Instagram.

I must give credit for this one to Bridgetta Giles (Say It To Me Nicepodcast) because I discovered @mrhoward365 via one of her IG story posts. He asks great questions designed to get a conversation started. They spark thoughtfulness & are fantastic for setting the stage to greater communication. You suck at actually communicating your deepest emotions, fears, & thoughts. His content helps with that! At some point we geeked out about all things A/V; I spared you all from that. Rob is on his game! Both his content & intent are valuable!
Check him out on everything @mrhoward365

James Bush LPC-MHSP graciously set aside some time for this interview. I was very excited to get another Mental Health Professional on the show. His credentials are cool but the fact that he has been through some shit (rough divorce) made him much more interesting & relatable. Add to that he has gained some great insights & you have another interview that I am proud to present.

You are always prioritizing your life. Any area that you have not made a HIGH priority is, by default, LOW priority. Is that what you wanted? If not then take action on that!
Thanks again to Jordan for setting aside some time to appear on the show & also for pushing through my technical (sound) difficulties. She rocks! Catch her on her podcast: Vaginas, Vulvas, & Vibrators.

Just grabbed two stories that are happening in real time. I really do not want to use names so it may be a little muddled. To help clear up the Booty Call part let's call them A & B. A: threw away the marriage & when their plan did not pan out the offered clandestine booty calls to their ex. Wild right? I know. Anyway just a few things for you all to ponder.
Caught up with Hank Denson today. He's a great comedian but a more importantly a greater human & family man! Here are 3 things that folks in bad relationships do to save what are actually fairly bullshit & exhausting relationships. I made this one because there is a bit of trend of people in bad relationships (relationships that increase stress & rob you of joy) DOUBLING DOWN in the face of the odds. WHY? Take an honest look at your situation. Quite a few relationships WILL NOT WORK OUT!

Poet Obbie West joins me this episode. He is driven & passionate to say the least. His discovery of poetry changed his life & provided an entry point to his advocay work. Along the way he was married for a time, became a father, & served in the U.S. Army for 20 years. Hailing from South Central L.A. he has gone on to perform & present both nationally & internationally. I was fortunate enough to grab a few hours out his of day. Enjoy!

Not exactly what Cypress Hill was rapping about but it fits! When the conversation shifts to an arguement & the charged atmosphere takes hold - you need to be prepared, in advance, to successfully navigate that situation. When the shit goes down you better be ready!

I met Mojo last year in a podcasting coaching cohort. He's an all around interesting guy; Canadian Navy vet, musician, ordained minister, & Stoic with several (3) podcasts. Imagine my surprise when he told me that he married his sidepiece! I had planned to have my entire cohort on the show anyway but that solidified Mojo's spot! What do you get from relationships? YOU specifically. What to relationships mean to you? What do they provide you & your life? What are the traits that you must have in a mate? What really matters to you? I know the Top Two most important things...
I kept it short & sweet.
If you know the book you might be wondering what it has to do with relationsips? Some of us are the tree & some of us are the boy. Hell some have played BOTH roles.

When the relationship hits rough waters there is an impulse to pull back & go below deck til the storm blows over. This does not work! Distancing yourself can be used to great effect in some instances; THIS IS NOT ONE!!!
Recently I have been overly focused on the negative parts of relationships & so I wanted to come back with focus on the good parts.
A closer look at a trait that serves us in all aspects of life but so often goes overlooked in relationships. Take a deeper dive.
In the recent past things have been getting negative & tense. Who needs that? I wanted to catch you if you are giving in to that vibe or getting sucked in to that space. Hold your heads high! You will overcome!
This aspect of relationships (& life) goes by without being given a great amount of attention; it deserves to be understood & embraced. I decided to present this information so that you could get a sense of the real power & value of forgiveness.
There are lots of myths surrounding realtionships that make it hard to have a good relationship. They have people chasing these ideas that are not based in reality. This episode it the start of squashing them.
Sidepiece Science #2 is all about communication styles. It's a great start but is not exhaustive because the topic is much larger than this short podcast episode.
Doing my part to eradicate two bogus themes about relationships: 1) Your partner can be stolen unless you are on your game. 2) You can be trapped into a relationship that you don't want to be in.
My tips for exiting a toxic relationship. Just to get you pointed in the right direction...
Not all regrets are created equal. For me, the things that I had the ability to do but for whatever reason DID NOT DO - sheeeesh! Those are the regrets that really fux with me.

Think about all the things that you do without thinking. Some of those patterns are fucking up your relationships. Let's talk about it!
Fears are limitless if you let them run unchecked in your head, & whatever you are greedy for cannot be satiated. Just human facts.
If you're a jerk to others (in thought or deed) there's a great chance that you're being a jerk to yourself as well. You should definately stop that!
Don't forget how this whole thing started; IT'S IMPORTANT!!! IT WILL END IN A FASHION SIMILAR TO HOW IT STARTED!!! It's real life NOT a fairytale!
