Investing in your emotional well-being is crucial for a fulfilling life. Instead of impulsively spending your emotions, learn to invest them wisely. By doing so, you can achieve long-lasting emotional stability. Discover your path to lasting emotional well-being and take control of your life today by becoming an emotional investor, not an emotional spender.

Before introducing herself, Sarah Gwin with Huntsville Integrative Therapy said she understands that many physical and emotional experiences are interconnected. She believes in a holistic approach to wellness and works with her clients to develop a deeper understanding of their bodies and minds. Through this process, she helps clients develop tools to manage stress and other challenges that can impact daily life.

"Hello and welcome to the Coffee & Hustle podcast. Today, my guest is Sarah Gwin with Huntsville Integrative Therapy."

While working with couples, Sarah builds emotional equity by helping partners communicate more effectively and build a deeper connection. Sarah helps clients create a foundation of trust and respect that can withstand the ups and downs of life. Her approach is grounded in compassion and empathy. She believes that everyone has the potential to grow and heal, and her coaching can be a powerful tool for transformation. Whether working with individuals or couples, Sarah is committed to helping her clients live their best lives.

Sarah specializes in working with clients as they navigate their nervous systems to strengthen their minds, bodies, and hearts. How do our physical and emotional experiences interconnect?

According to the APA, adults aged 18 to 34 reported the highest rate of mental illnesses at 50% in 2023. Adults aged 35 to 44 also experienced the highest increase in mental health diagnoses, from 31% in 2019 to 45% in 2023.

When people funnel their emotional energy into anything over a sustained period, they make an "emotional investment." Becoming a wise emotional investor involves three steps: finding one's purpose, dedicating time and emotional resources, and constantly experimenting and evaluating. Spending time with the right people can help someone make better emotional investments.

Thank you for joining our program. Find your path to lasting emotional well-being.

Welcome to the Coffee & Hustle podcast with Carla Stiles of Designedbycarla. Today, we have a special guest, Kanique Mighty-Nugent, owner of Komposition. In this episode, we will discuss the significance of trusting marketing experts and allowing them to do their job. While many people try to save money by taking marketing matters into their own hands, they often need help in the ever-changing industry.

During the podcast, Kanique will share her experience working in a male-dominated industry as a young female and transitioning to a website designer. We will discuss how clients can educate themselves on their marketing needs and still trust their experts to do their job. We will also discuss how to find the perfect match between a client and their marketing expert and why it is crucial to focus on what works instead of getting caught up in the latest trends.

Additionally, Kanique will be sharing her journey on how she ventured into website programming and established a company that offers comprehensive services for online web presence and live video strategy. We will also discuss how she balances her roles as a mother and a business owner, the significance of taking time for oneself, and why it's crucial to expand while maintaining control.

Based in Huntsville, Alabama, our primary focus is to fulfill the visual needs of our clients through creatively composed elements, which we achieve through our two main components: online web presence and live video strategy.

Lastly, Kanique will give our audience a quick shoutout on how to find her and connect with her.

We're delighted to have Kanique Mighty-Nugent, owner of Komposition, as our guest today on the Coffee & Hustle podcast.

Welcome to the Coffee & Hustle podcast. Today, we will discuss Transforming Women's Healthcare with Adrienne Garbarino, a Huntsville native who graduated from Sparkman High School in 2003.

After completing her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing at Auburn University, she completed her Master's in Nursing at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. After ten years in Atlanta, she moved back to Huntsville in 2020 with her husband, Patrick, and son, Noah. We will discuss Adrienne's journey from nursing to self-care and her business, Cove Telehealth.

Cove Telehealth helps women in Alabama aged 19-64 balance their hormones and thyroid using safe and effective prescription medications, supplements, and lifestyle changes. They combine conventional medical prescriptions with functional medicine supplements and lifestyle changes to create a customized treatment plan for each patient. Adrienne has been through a personal journey to diagnose and improve her own thyroid and hormone imbalances. She is thrilled to share all she has learned to help women feel their best. An estimated 80% of women suffer from some hormone imbalance.

Some warning signs include irregular menstrual cycles, infertility, hot flashes and night sweats, persistent weight gain, and fatigue. Cove Telehealth provides Specialty and Primary Care for Women, focusing on Thyroid, Hormone, Weight Management, and Preventive Care. They offer a holistic approach to hormone imbalance and aim to help women of all ages improve their quality of life.

We also discuss how hormonal imbalances can affect younger women, causing symptoms such as acne, mood swings, and difficulty sleeping. Several factors, such as stress, poor diet, and certain medications, can trigger hormonal imbalances.

Hormonal imbalances can also occur during natural cycles in your life, like puberty, pregnancy, and menopause. At Cove Telehealth, they help women balance estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone using prescription bio-identical hormones and quality supplements.

They can help with many hormonal conditions, including Menopause, Perimenopause, PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder), PMS (premenstrual syndrome), and Adrenal fatigue.

Adrienne is an active member of local professional organizations, including the Women for Economic Development Council (WEDC) and The Catalyst Center. She also mentors college students through the WEDC Foundation.

If you want to connect with Adrienne and learn more about Cove Telehealth, visit their website or follow them on social media. Thank you, Adrienne, for joining us on the Coffee & Hustle podcast.

Welcome to Coffee & Hustle with Carla Stiles of Designedbycarla, featuring Erica DeSpain to discuss "The Art of Harmonizing Life and Business for Success."

Work-Life Balance Strategies for Female EntrepreneursYou are a role model in the community for discussing how to find balance in today's business world. I know you keep a tight and organized schedule, so how do you manage interruptions? Can you share your daily routine and tips for balancing a business with motherhood? Time is everything!

Here are some tips to help you manage your time and achieve a work-life balance:

**- Be intentional with your time: Set aside time to sit down and evaluate your schedule. Figure out what’s working and what isn’t. Have things changed over the past few months? What should you do differently? This approach to scheduling will help you remain focused on work-life balance, keeping you productive at work and present at home. I set aside one day a week when I don’t take meetings, and that day is entirely devoted to focusing on my own projects.

  • Know when to say yes - and no: Being an entrepreneur doesn’t mean you have to do it all. With all the responsibilities of being a female entrepreneur, it’s easy to become overwhelmed. Accepting help isn’t a sign of weakness or failure; instead, it’s vital to achieving the work-life balance many seek. Say “yes” to help when you need it.**

- Stop comparing: In the age of social media, it’s far too easy to compare yourself to others. You might see a mother who seems to be doing everything with her children while running her own business. What is her secret? Does she know something you don’t? Is she doing something different or better than you are? Remember that each person’s experience as an entrepreneur is different, and everyone encounters their own unique challenges.

In the Coffee & Hustle podcast, Erica from All Things Madison shares her experience as an entrepreneur and how she turned her dream into a reality. She talks about her passion for incorporating the advertising and information people need to know in her platform. Erica also answers rapid-fire questions about her personal life and gives a shoutout on finding and connecting with her.

Welcome to Coffee & Hustle. Today, we will be discussing practical lessons in leadership. I am pleased to introduce Greg Taylor, the author of "Find Your Winning Edge" and the host of "The Leadership Factory Podcast". With over 35 years of experience in corporate and personal leadership, Greg is passionate about empowering individuals to reach their full potential. His mission is to create more inspirational leaders who motivate others to embark on journeys they wouldn't take alone.

We will talk about inspiring growth, lifelong learning, embracing failure, and having honest conversations. As leaders, we must learn these lessons and listen better to stay in tune. Sometimes, we must self-reflect to understand what's happening within our business and make necessary changes.

Failure is an inevitable part of any business, and accepting it as an opportunity for growth is crucial. We must learn to change and become stronger leaders without losing ourselves. A boss and a leader are significantly different, and we must change our mindset to become better leaders. Keeping skilled workers happy is also essential for any business's growth.

According to a recent study, the average person will switch careers 3-7 times over their working lives. With the ever-increasing variety of employment options, 30% of the workforce will change vocations or jobs every 12 months, and 32% of those aged 25 to 44.

Greg Taylor is a transformative leader who empowers individuals to reach their full potential. Through his work, he aims to help people learn from their experiences, inspire themselves, and create profound, lasting change that positively impacts everyone around them. The ultimate goal is to create more inspirational leaders who inspire others to take a journey they will not take alone.

Thank you for listening to today's episode of practical lessons in leadership on the Coffee & Hustle podcast. See you next time.

Hosted by Peyton Guy and his guest Carla Stiles. We discussed The Good, Bad, and Ugly of AI in our DiNiche podcast on Coffee & Hustle.

What are the common fears and misconceptions about AI and its potential to harm humans? Before we proceed, let's take a moment to understand the broad definition of AI by referring to Britannica.

"It's artificial intelligence (AI), the ability of a digital computer or computer-controlled robot to perform tasks commonly associated with intelligent beings. The term is frequently applied to the project of developing systems endowed with the intellectual processes characteristic of humans, such as the ability to reason, discover meaning, generalize, or learn from past experience."

If you have followed the evolution of computer development, you know that computers were initially designed to solve complex mathematical problems. From playing chess and solving mathematical theorems in the 1940s, and from there, programmers developed advanced software for medical diagnosis, voice and handwriting recognition, and search engines.

https://www.britannica.com/technology/artificial-intelligence

In fair discussion, AI comes in two types: narrow and general. Narrow AI is programmed for specific tasks, while general AI can do any task and is highly sophisticated and emotionally expressive. We can dissect this into other articles, but let's review the positive and negative Artificial Intelligence. As programmers, we comprehend programming with C++ or Python on specific platforms and their evolution.

Looking at the transformations and risks of AI can be daunting. We are already seeing how quickly content, programs, and creative restrictions are being replaced. Questions about what constitutes human and non-human are arising, as seen in the media through writer strikes. Jason Sudeikis, Susan Sarandon, and numerous other actors have joined screenwriters in Hollywood's biggest strike in over 60 years.

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-66205719

Privacy Risks and Investigations

AI's potential violation of privacy and infringement on individuals' rights and freedoms is a major concern due to its lack of transparency in data sources and how it arrives at conclusions. Additionally, the collection and storage of personal information pose a significant privacy risk, and the threat of cyberattacks from hackers creates further volatility and security issues.

But moreover, we will discuss creativity and critical thinking and its effects on individuals aware of what this will do now and in the future. We need to remember this is a machine-driven program, and the task you assign it, AI will perform, but you can't replace the human aspects in your style of business or brand voice.

So you can control the use of AI or let AI drive your business, but what fun would that be? We are not perfect, and it should be ok to make mistaks without a machine to figure it out all the time. You are in control and not the machine.

Lisa J. Smith, the CEO, and founder of SMITH Co., a sales consulting firm focused on modern midsize B2B businesses, is joining us today to review and discuss Shifting Your Thinking from Price to Value. Hello, and welcome to the Coffee & Hustle podcast.

Can you share your experience and background with Smithco with our audience? Our topic for today is shifting your focus from price to value for your business. Would you say this approach is beneficial even for a new business? And how can you apply this concept if you're already established in your industry? It's worth noting that the latest data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) shows that 1 in 5 U.S. businesses fail within their first year. Can you discuss the advantages of value-based pricing?

As a business owner, it's crucial to establish your brand and vision. However, it's equally, if not more important, to view your business from your customer's perspective.

What is a good value pricing strategy? It's when businesses offer products or services at reasonable prices, providing customers with the best value for their money. This approach combines quality and affordability, making it appealing to cost-conscious consumers.

Which is more critical: value or price? How can you demonstrate your value to customers? It's essential to evaluate your pricing value regularly. You must shift your business mindset to focus on value instead of price. How can you convince your clients to do so?

How do you know if you're undervaluing your products or services? In my experience, small and medium-sized businesses often concentrate on the perceived benefits of value and pricing their products or services lower than their competitors.

When using three modes of persuasion, what are they? Ethos involves demonstrating that your business is credible, reliable, and relevant. Pathos inspires an emotional response, whether positive or negative. Logos is the logical reasoning of why a consumer should choose your company.

In my opinion, balance is crucial. If a customer perceives a product or service as invaluable, then purchases based solely on having a quality product at the lowest price become infrequent.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge on this topic and for tuning in to today's episode of Shifting Your Thinking from Price to Value on the Coffee & Hustle podcast. See you next time.

Why do I feel like a fake?
These kinds of feelings are shared. They affect 70% of us at some point in our lives. When these feelings of doubt are persistent and pervasive, they could signify a condition called impostor syndrome. It's also known as the impostor phenomenon, fraud syndrome, perceived fraudulence, or impostor experience.

"Hello and welcome to the Coffee & Hustle podcast; this episode discusses "The Impostor Phenomenon."

Everyone will feel like an imposter at some point in their lives.

I'm Carla with Designedbycarla, and joining this podcast discussion is Michelle Nash, the Director Of Organizational and People Development.

In today's topic, we are discussing. Imposter Syndrome

Imposter syndrome is the experience of feeling like a phony—you feel as though at any moment you are going to be found out as a fraud—like you don't belong where you are, and you only got there through dumb luck.

Imposter syndrome, also called perceived fraudulence, involves feelings of self-doubt and personal incompetence that persist despite your education, experience, and accomplishments. To counter these feelings, you might work harder and hold yourself to higher standards.

Some of the questions that we discussed in the Coffee & Hustle Podcast:

How do we improve our mental well-being?

Create habits that promote emotional and mental well-being to live a healthier and happier life. How long does it take to create these habits?

Do you teach you how to approach health from a holistic perspective and find the diet and lifestyle that works for you – what we call bio-individuality?

What is the DNA in Health? The testing can include different types of tests. For example, some can diagnose certain diseases and/or conditions like breast cancer. Is this something we should consider? Your DNA is saying who you are—– not what you can and can’t be.

DeNiche is hosted by Peyton Guy and we talk about modern standards and cultivate the bridge between people and technology. Today's topic is Green, Blue, and Little Grey Bubbles.

What's up, all you nerdy, dirty geeks! My co-host, Carla Stiles, gives her feedback on the topic of the battle of text messaging.

So the question of why are some SMS green and some blue?If your iPhone messages are green, it means that they're being sent as SMS text messages rather than as iMessages, which appear in blue. iMessages only work between Apple users. You'll always see green when writing to Android users or when not connected to the internet.

Did you know iMessage works exclusively between Apple devices? This only means if you have an iPhone, and so does the person you're texting, the message will be sent over iMessage.

Google has started a public fight with Apple over the "green bubbles" that appear when users message each other. When two iPhones message each other, their texts appear blue; if someone receives a message from an Android user, they show as green.

Google accused Apple of exploiting 'peer pressure and bullying' for a profit with its blue and green iMessage bubbles.

iPhone users exchange messages using iMessage and text messages appear in blue bubbles, whereas messages sent to iPhones from Google's Android mobile operating system display in green.

The texts are compatible with a broader range of phones and receiving services than blue iMessage texts for green messages.

So the battle of securing your text messages is the key vs a bubble color.

We review the standard SMS/MMS text messaging through your service provider is not no encrypted and sent of networks which makes it easier for criminals to intercept the data.

Google has announced that end-to-end encryption is rolling out to users of Google Messages, Android's default SMS and RCS app.

Peyton discusses RCS and What's App to protect users from interception and private conversations and the data centers that are storing our information.

Intro: In this episode, you will learn how to protect your business assets with Jennifer Upton, with Upton Advisory Services. We learn that Employee dishonesty and theft costs U.S. businesses over $50 billion dollars annually. And Employee theft is responsible for 33% of all business bankruptcies. In our discussion today, we will why people steal and ways to set up strengthen controls with your business. If you're a business owner, you need to take some notes on today's episode. “Hello and welcome to the Coffee & Hustle podcast, this is the episode that discusses “Who Opens Your Mail In Your Business”.

I’m Carla with Designedbycarla and joining this podcast discussion is Jennifer Upton, partner, and owner of Upton Advisory Services.

She serves as a fractional or interim chief financial officer for emerging businesses. What does that mean for businesses?

Jennifer is a partner and owner of Upton Advisory Services, serving as a fractional or interim chief financial officer for emerging businesses.

Your career started as an auditor with Ernst & Young and progressed through her career to become a Chief Financial Officer for a large not-for-profit for six years.

How long were you with Ernst & Young?

She provides financial expertise to guide business owners as they experience rapid change and growth. Jennifer has extensive experience in finance and accounting, beginning as an auditor with Ernst & Young and progressing through her career to become a Chief Financial Officer for a large not-for-profit for six years.

She is a licensed CPA and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting from Kennesaw State University.

At Kennesaw State, Jennifer worked in the Small Business Development Center setting up accounting systems for small businesses.

She taught owners how to “keep their books,” and soon realized that helping owners become more successful was what she wanted to do as a career. Did you find your niche?

Jennifer just moved to the Huntsville area.

Jennifer and her husband, Steve, moved to Huntsville in the spring of 2021 to be closer to family. In Huntsville, she learned the power of networking - learning the power of networking.

It started with one LinkedIn contact that grew into a large network of amazingly generous people in Huntsville willing to share her story with others.

Who Opens Your Mail In Your Business - why I selected this title. It makes you think?

So, my weird accounting passion is helping business owners set up internal controls to protect their assets. We can discuss how vulnerable business owners are to theft by people they trust. The thing is, most business people think they have good judgment, know who is trustworthy, and are great judges of character. Understatement and True

As sad as it is, it’s impossible to know who will steal from your business.

Here are the facts

In 2020, it was estimated that only 23% of employees who steal are prosecuted. That means, even getting a criminal background check on an employee won’t protect you from 77% of those who have stolen from their company.

From my research -

Employee dishonesty and theft costs U.S. businesses over $50 billion dollars annually. National estimates show that 75% of all employees steal from their employers at least once throughout their careers. The same statistics show that at least half of these 75% steal multiple times from their employer. https://www.ifpo.org/

Ways employees steal:

  • Use company credit card for personal purchases
  • Create fake vendors and pay them
  • Set up fake employees on payroll
  • Inflate their hours worked
  • Walk off with tools or invento

Did you know? The earliest records of dog training come from the Roman Empire around 400 AD. It is believed that this was when people realized the potential benefit of teaching these animals to do tricks such as fetching or retrieving objects.**

**Beyond the basics -
Dogs are intelligent creatures that are capable of learning tricks, obeying commands, and following basic instructions such as "sit" or "come here."

What does behavior modification for those that need it?

How to get take in a rescue? Should you get involved with fostering dogs?

What makes a dog trainer?

“Hello and welcome to the Coffee & Hustle podcast; this is the episode we are going to describe, “How marketing looks now vs. then.”

**I’m Carla with Coffee & Hustle, and joining me on this podcast discussion today is Vicki Morris, Owner of Face to Face Marketing.

Vicki has over 20 years of marketing and communications experience. You are a leader in the Huntsville area that helps businesses tailor marketing strategies, and you and your team do this using a data-driven and analytical approach. You provide business owners plan of action to focus on marketing that converts and builds valued customers.**

Thank you for joining Vicki; give us a little background on how you got started in marketing.

I want to point out that we are both in the same industry. Do you ever feel this industry is getting crowded? No. There is more business in our area than any one person or company can handle. And we each have slightly different client avatars because we each specialize in different things or audience segments.

What was your favorite thing about marketing back when you started? What has been the most challenging transition? My favorite thing has always been bringing clarity to a client’s messaging strategy! When I first realized I could make money doing marketing, I was at a networking event talking about an event I organized and sharing the flyer I designed. To see that people understood what I was conveying, and they clearly saw how the offer could help them with a current or future pain point. Then people came up to me asking if I could do the same thing for them and their business.

The most challenging transition as I grew my business has surprisingly been promoting myself.

Were you self-taught? Back in the day, we did not have the lessons or classes available to us. So how did you learn how to focus on your skills?

I have a degree in marketing, so I learned a lot of fundamentals in college, like strategy planning, SWOT, and other analysis builders; I learned a lot about writing in college, and I got really good at it. But website design, graphic design, photography, and video editing were all self-taught through trial and error and self-study.

Name three things that improve your marketing focus. Diving deep into the client's industry, building out a client avatar for the client, sending clients very detailed questionnaires before I begin working on projects them.

I want to mention that you offer courses and training at Face to Face Marketing. How has that changed your business? What is the one thing that you love about this course? It makes high-quality marketing affordable for all businesses.

Did this transition in your business during COVID, or was this something you always wanted to offer? COVID certainly accelerated the timing of this new segment of my business, but this is something I’ve wanted to do for a couple of years

You seem to enjoy the learning aspect, and you always seem very involved in the local community. How do you balance this in your business? I always believe, no matter what your business or industry, you should always be learning. I’m always looking for opportunities to learn. As for my community involvement, I’ve always been very interested in economic development and the lifeblood of any economy is small business. So my community involvement is an integral part of my business. My community involvement helps me be visible, visibilit

Overnight success as an entrepreneur is hard work.

Hey there, Carla from Coffee and Hustle, in today's podcast, we're going to talk about the pros and cons of an entrepreneur. My clients come to me about marketing or business strategies; sometimes, they want advice as an entrepreneur and the struggles and what other people have gone through. They don't always want to feel like they're the only people dealing with the ups and downs of their businesses. We look "failure" could be such a negative term in our business because we don't always want to admit when there's a failure when there's a real issue that's going on with their business. We don't necessarily want you to share that with other people.
