Chris Anderson is the Founder of Student Services (https://studentservices.biz/) which does ladder-related home maintenance (gutter cleaning, window cleaning, solar panel cleaning, and Christmas lights) for seniors living in the Sacramento area 55+ active living retirement communities where Student Services maintains the properties of senior citizens so that they have the opportunity to maintain their independence in the place that they love the most, their home.
Pam Miller has a master’s degree in social work. She spent most of her career in county government. In Riverside County, Pam worked in both Child Protective and Adult Protective Services. When she left after 22 years, she was over all of the Adult Services Programs. Pam came to this area as the Director of Employment and Social Services for Yolo County. After several years, she decided she wanted to try something different and was lucky enough to find Agency on Aging Area 4, where she has been the ED for almost 10 years. She says it has been exciting to see the agency grow as it expands services to older adults and adds services for people living with disabilities.
Stephanie has always been passionate about spreading kindness and inspires others to do so with the children’s book she authored, The Happiest Birthday Ever.Inspired by her time volunteering with Make-A-Wish Foundation, she started Silver Wishes, Inc., a nonprofit bringing hope and making a difference in the lives of seniors by granting one-time WOW wishes. Courtney Quinn, Executive Director of Albie Aware Breast Cancer Foundation is a breast cancer survivor and has spent 20 years in the nonprofit sector.
Courtney has been in leadership and fundraising roles in San Diego, which included President of Women’s Wine Alliance, Development Manager of Corporate Partnerships for The Old Globe and Board Relations Coordinator for Rady Children’s Hospital Foundation.
In 2017, Courtney had a double lumpectomy followed by chemotherapy and radiation treatment. To prevent a recurrence, she receives hormone treatment and has an active lifestyle.
Courtney received her Master of Arts in Leadership Studies and Nonprofit Management from the University of San Diego. She received her undergraduate degree from Arizona State University. She is a Certified Nonprofit Professional by the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance.
Ana (pronounced like the Frozen character) has been with Volunteers of America for almost 10 years. She has had the opportunity to wear many hats and currently, Ana is the Director of Development. Ana oversees the fundraising efforts and gets to work with a team of real-life superheroes.
At the age of 16, she was convinced that her goal in life was to become a missionary, and although she explored that a bit she realized it wasn't what she wanted to do for the rest of her life.
VOA gives her the opportunity to still fulfill that goal, but locally, in her community. Its mission is to change individual lives, instill hope and facilitate independence through quality housing, employment, and other related services. They serve nearly 3,000 individuals every single day.

Tonya Nygren owns and operates Nygren Law Office, Inc. in Sacramento, California. She assists individuals and families with delicate estate planning matters, including trust administration and probate. She also assists families create revocable living trusts and wills. She believes that the legacy one leaves to their family is a direct reflection of the success that was achieved during his or her lifetime, and how his or her loved ones and charitable causes will be provided for after death and for future generations.
Summer manages the Sacramento Walk to End Alzheimer's where she is responsible for the recruitment, coaching and management of volunteers, teams, and community partners. She has worked in development and relationship management for several years, most recently at Seniors First of Placer County. Her focus was on volunteer recruitment, community engagement, fundraising, and managing the Meals on Wheels Groceries program. Previously, Summer worked as a relationship banker at Umpqua Bank, where she created and led their People with Disabilities Committee.
Now, she plans to continue her education to obtain a MA in nonprofit management in the near future. Summer grew up in the area and loves working with our community to raise awareness and offer support.
Anaid Nersesyan and Olivia Johnson have been with RC Healthcare for 6 months and have found great joy and a sense of purpose in working as Relations Coordinators for this organization. RC Healthcare is a family-owned and operated business that specializes in hospice and palliative care for the greater Sacramento area. As Relations coordinators they are responsible for educating the community on what hospice and palliative care truly are and the benefits for those who need this care are entitled.
Rob Cunha is a financial advisor with Transamerica Financial Advisors. He graduated college as an army officer and started his own business in 1998. Losing his wife to cancer in 2016, inspired him to make a change in his career. He began his journey with Transamerica in 2019 and now he helps people be financially protected.
My name is Stephanie Coker and I’m the Sales Manager for our property. We opened our gates in November of 2020 and I have been a part of our team since that opening. I have a passion for helping families navigate this season of their lives whether it be pre-need or at-need.
Jennifer Brown’s background is unique as she did not intend to practice law when she completed her undergraduate studies at Sacramento State University. While attending college, Jennifer worked in the banking industry and worked her way from the ground up, starting as a teller and eventually departing the industry as a branch manager.
Although Jennifer obtained her degree in Criminal Justice, she found the realities of the criminal justice system to be difficult for her empathetic nature. The law was still of great interest, so Jennifer decided to obtain her paralegal certificate and focus her pursuits outside of the criminal justice area. During her studies, Jennifer became greatly interested in elder law. Feeling that the senior population is often the “forgotten class” of society, Jennifer found great passion in senior-related issues and ended up working as an estate planning paralegal. It was at this time that Jenn truly felt her passion for her work ignite! Jennifer was fortunate to be a paralegal for a well-respected solo practitioner in the Roseville area, and it was during her tenure at that firm that she decided to attend law school with the focused decision to practice law in the area of estate planning. Jennifer attended law school in the evenings (while continuing to work as a paralegal during the day) and graduated cum laude from Lincoln Law School with a Juris Doctorate in 2015. During her law school experience, Jenn maintained her class standing within the top five students and was the recipient of a number of Faculty Achievement awards. Jenn passed the bar exam on her first attempt (much to her delight) and has never looked back. Jennifer is a member of the California Bar Association, of which she is a member of the Estate Planning Section. She is also a member of the Placer County Bar Association and serves on the Estate Planning Section Board as a Member At Large. Additionally, she is part of the Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity International. Jennifer focuses her practice in the areas of estate planning, trust administration, probate administration, and business law as it relates to business succession planning.
While not at the office, Jennifer spends her time with family. She particularly enjoys hiking (aka wondering the wilderness), boating and camping. Jenn’s heart is most content when she is home getting her hands dirty tending her vegetable garden, making sourdough bread or working on home improvement projects.
Salvador (Sal) Ramirez, M.P.P., is a Program Manager of Philanthropy Projects at the California Council on Science and Technology. Sal received his Masters in Public Policy from the Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University. Sal has worked with tkMomentum (giving people with disabilities employment opportunities) and Migrant Head Start (managing school sites throughout Northern California) to provide strategic management of fundraising and programming and served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Kazakhstan. Sal completed his BA in Sociology and Black Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Christine Grmolyes joined Senior Care Solutions in 2007 and has a long history of over 25 years working with seniors in various capacities. Her scope of experience is very broad and includes various positions in long-term care (skilled nursing, assisted living, home care, senior care referral, and placement) and the senior medical field (physician groups).
Christine has a Bachelor’s degree from CSU Sacramento, Graduate Certificate in Geriatric Care Management, Certificate in Gerontology, and has continued her studies in healthcare administration and gerontology. Her passion for working with seniors, especially those with Alzheimer’s and other forms of memory impairment, has carried over into her volunteer work. She has served on several committees and boards of senior care-related organizations, including the Greater Sacramento Area Alzheimer’s Association local chapter, of which she is past President, the board of the Alzheimer’s Association Northern California Northern Nevada, Del Oro Caregiver Resource Center, of which she is past board President, and currently serves on the board of the Parkinson Association of Northern California. Christine adds to her professional experience with a personal experience of helping care for her grandmother-in-law for 9 years prior to her passing at age 98. Christine has assisted thousands of seniors and their families along their journeys.

Robynne Rose-Haymer serves as the Deputy Chief Program Officer for the Sacramento LGBT Community Center. With over twenty years of workforce development, program development & implementation, and leadership experience, Robynne’s continuing passion is helping people obtain the education and skills they need to pursue their goals. Robynne began her career as an ‘on the ground practitioner ‘ working directly with low-income families and communities of color on health & well-being and education issues. As a local school district employee and leader, she planned the implementation of the WIA & Adult Career Technical Education programs districtwide. Focused on making an impact, Robynne extended her range to include consulting and grant writing for non-profit organizations seeking to build new programs or shore up existing ones seeking to serve the community.
As a graduate of the Nehemiah Emerging Leaders Program (NELP- Class VI), Robynne took her leadership skills to the next level by strengthening her boardsmanship and program management skills. Additionally, since Robynne completed the Prosperity Now Platforms for Prosperity Fellowship in partnership with Bank of America, Robynne has become a champion for financial capability integration into workforce development programming. In 2018 she graduated with a master’s in Organizational Learning and Effectiveness and started the journey for a doctorate at the University of the Pacific. Of all her accomplishments, her greatest is being a proud Mimi to two fabulous grandchildren and parent of three successful children.
Alan Fisher is President and owner of Indecare, which was founded in 2006. Alan reflected on a personal experience of inadequate home care options for his mother when she became ill with cancer. Alan chased his dream of building his own company that would make a significant difference, providing a much needed service in his own local community. INDECARE provides licensed non-medical in home care to aging adults with the goal of allowing them to remain independent in their own homes. In addition, Indecare provides hands on assistance to families who need to find alternative living arrangements such as Assisted Living or Memory Care. INDECARE has provided quality, thoughtful, and caring support to over 1400 families. In addition, Alan believes in advocating for and educating seniors and their families on a variety of topics and issues that impact them. Alan holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California at Davis and resides in Sacramento with his wife of 26 years and three adult children.
Dustin MacFarlane wanted to be an attorney from the age of five when he first started watching Perry Mason reruns with his mother. After he graduated high school and completed a Christian mission in Pennsylvania, his previously undetermined law practice area began to crystallize. During the mission, he developed his faith in God; learned the importance of work, service, and family; and recognized the value of having a higher purpose other than just working for a dollar.
Kristi’s Bio:
Kristi Hrbek has been working in hospice arena for 10 years, mainly as a community liaison and hospice care consultant. She is currently with Absolute Compassion Hospice. One of the main focuses of hospice that Kristi really enjoys is educating on the benefits of hospice for those providing care in the senior industry as well as being a resource for families interested in learning more about the benefits of hospice. Prior to working in hospice, Kristi was in the pharmaceutical sales industry for 15 years. In her personal life, Kristi enjoys traveling with her son and mother, baseball-going to her son’s high school baseball games as well as SF Giants games, music festivals with her besties and the company of her cats and dogs.

Luis Avila Cruz has been working at Absolute Compassion Hospice for 5 months as their Community Relations Liaison. Prior to Absolute Compassion Hospice, he had worked in the non-profit industry for over 7 years in program development and outreach. Luis has worked in places such as National Alliance for Mental Illness, Labor Center, and Food Banks. Luis is passionate in becoming a resource for the community and hope to achieve this through his professional career. Luis enjoys passing time with his family and friends when he is not working.
Paul Charles Kellam. Born June 23rd in 1988, in Fresno, CA and raised in Stockton, CA. I’m the first college graduate in my family. Graduating from Sacramento State with a BA in Mass Communications and a Minor in Journalism. Go Hornets! I spent most of my childhood and young adult life training wrestling. It was my first love and propelled me to understand hard work, discipline, dedication and how to accept failure. All traits which I credit my success in the world of Sports Sales. Currently, I am in my second stint with the Sacramento Kings. I came up through the sports sale’s ranks with them, transitioned to the Arizona Diamondbacks, and returned this past May to my hometown team – Sacramento Kings. Sports and competition are something that I have always enjoyed, and it was goal to eventually work for a professional sports organization. Since I can remember I have always been a big sports fan, and it has been a dream come true to now call Golden 1 Center my office. When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my girlfriend, Joanne and our Boston Terrier, Gracie. I do still pop into the wrestling room occasionally and have begun to pick up the game of golf. Born in Stockton, CA. Grew up poor. Moved around more than an army brat. Oldest of 3 kids. Emancipated. Been working since as long as I can remember. Collecting cans, mowing lawns, eventually working at flea markets. At one point made more than my parents when I was an early teenager from the flea market position. Loved sports but never was stable enough in my youth to complete a season due to moving/work. Eventually worked with a lot of contractors and then landed a job at a factory in Lodi as a maintenance mechanic. Got burned out and was recruited into insurance. This is normally a cool story. Been doing insurance for 16 years.
Married my best friend. Have 4 kids. 2 of them were hers that I adopted. The oldest is my son from a previous relationship and we now share one that we made together. We love to spend time outdoors. Riding dirt bikes, quads, going camping in our trailer. Other hobbies is cooking for family, smoking meats (brisket, pork shoulder, appetizers and making bacon from scratch).
Gail Arno began her career in aging services in 1998, serving as a family consultant for a local placement agency. She actively educated and guided a generation of seniors and their families to resources and information available throughout the Greater Sacramento region. In 2010, she brought her experience and expertise to the team at Elder Care Management, providing service and oversight in the growing field of geriatric care management. In 2020, Gail assumed the role of Director of Care Management for ECM, leading the exceptional team of established Care Managers. Gail received a Bachelor of Science in History from UCLA and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from CSU Northridge. She also completed a Graduate Certification program in Gerontology through CSU Sacramento, where she concurrently completed a six-class case management course certification. She is a California Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFE) certified administrator and is a state-approved instructor for RCFE administrator’s certification courses. Additionally, she is a volunteer for the Alzheimer’s Association and a Board Member for Del Oro Caregiver Resource Center. Gail is also a Certified Care Manager through the National Academy of Certified Care Managers and a member of the Aging Life Care Association (ALCA). Gail offers invaluable wisdom and extends gracious compassion and understanding to the clients and families she serves.

Andy Howard is a Bay Area Native who holds a BA in Political Science (University of Colorado at Boulder, ’97). After college Andy worked in the surging tech industry. His Grandmother however, would suffer a significant decline in health and ultimately needed in-home care. The experience of a loved one depending on outside help to age in place proved to be pivotal for Andy as he left the tech industry in 2002 for an opportunity in the home care world with a large provider. After having success in home care, but being frustrated by corporate constraints Andy founded HomeCare Professionals in 2005. He methodically built the company one client at a time by focusing on hiring quality caregivers to ensure positive outcomes. Currently Andy serves as the CEO of HomeCare Professionals and is also highly active in the non-profit organization California Association of Health Services at Home (CAHSAH) which advocates for a higher standard of in-home care for those who wish to remain living at home in California.
Linda Gillman, Ph.D., is President and CEO of THE COMPASSION PROJECT OF CALIFORNIA and its newest subsidiary – Living the Next Step (https://livingthenextstep.com). In private practice, Dr. Gillman provides compassionate, client-centered coaching/mentoring based on the principles of Transpersonal Psychology (Mind/Body/Spirit). Services provided by Dr. Gillman include group facilitation of a weekly cancer support group, aging consciously classes, and assisting seniors, caregivers, and individuals dealing with chronic illness to find and access the services they need. Michelle Nevins is the Executive Director of Del Oro Caregiver Resource Center, a private non-profit agency serving family caregivers of brain-impaired adults and frail older adults. Michelle has a degree in Social Work, an MBA, and a Master's in Leadership and Organizational Studies. Ms. Nevins has more than twenty-five years of experience in the health and human services field. She has served families in a variety of settings in the aging and long-term care continuum, including assisted living, skilled nursing, and the acute care hospital environment. Ms. Nevins is a Lecturer in the Gerontology Department at Sacramento State. She is a Commissioner with the Placer County Older Adult Advisory Commission and an active volunteer in her church.
Diane Kidwell is a Decluttering Specialist and Senior Move Manager. She joined New Leaf Senior Transitions in 2017. She loves making a difference in the client’s life by helping them declutter their living space or by helping them transition to a new home. Diane enjoys learning about the client, cleaning, and organizing a space that creates function. She’s a wife, mom, and grandma who loves to travel.
Brian received an undergraduate degree in journalism from the University of California, Berkeley in 1973. He not only saw a need for dedicated lawyers but was attracted to the idea of gaining a wide variety of experience and being challenged. In 1976, Brian graduated from Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago. His first legal job was as a staff attorney for the Andrus Gerontology Center at USC in Los Angeles, serving indigent senior citizens. From there he moved to Santa Rosa to head the Sonoma County Council on Aging legal services program for senior citizens there. Brian then moved to San Jose for a job as managing attorney for one of the Hyatt Legal Services offices. After a few years, he decided to move to Sacramento and he opened up his own office there. Since 1983, Brian has been a sole practitioner in the Sacramento area. While in the legal services programs in LA and Santa Rosa he developed expertise in government benefits (SSI, Social Security, etc., probate, and landlord/tenant). Since then Biran's practice has included family law (which he no longer handles), criminal defense (which he also no longer handles), general civil matters, bankruptcy, and especially real estate. Brian is married and has one daughter, from a prior marriage.

Kristi is a seasoned strategic partnership development and fundraising professional with a passion for helping animals and their people in her current role as the Senior Manager of Corporate Relations and Events for the Sacramento SPCA. She has experience in developing and executing special events to raise revenue for charitable organizations as well as conference and meeting planning for a multitude of public health sectors. Kristi holds a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a Nutrition and Foods degree from California State University, Sacramento. Tina Reynolds is the founder and president of Uptown Studios - a full service marketing and design studio that strives to create a difference for the community in each and every campaign they work on. She leads by example and still uses the same tag line from 1992 - “Designs for Social Change”. Tina is involved in many local community actions and campaigns - like the Sacramento “Mask Up” campaign and is a member of the Environmental Justice Coalition and serves on several advisory committees.
Dan Brooks has worked in the emergency medical services field for 17 years as both a paramedic and firefighter. Monica Brooks spent 10 years in the social service field helping families and children. 6 of those years were in a management role leading a team dedicated to serving local families in need. Providing senior care has been the perfect blend of their skills and experience. The first care home was in Natomas. When they were ready to create a really unique care setting they purchased a 2 acre estate in Orangevale and opened in 2018. Phase 2 was the planning and building of a second care home on the same 2 acre property. The homes share the beautiful property as well as the horses, chickens and garden.
Stuart Stackhouse is an insurance broker with over 20 years of experience in the industry. He has a passion for helping people feel confident in their selection. Her desire to do so has led her to join the Walk to end Alzheimer’s committee in 2016, The Adopt an Elder Foundation Board in 2017 and The Elder Services Network advisory team in 2018. When Shelly is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 adult kids. She also enjoys cooking, gardening, arts and crafts and traveling.
