Atletico Mineiro's brilliant performance didn't just signal the end of El Muñeco's dominance, but--quite possibly--the end of Argentina's run of having one of the Libertadores favorites every season. I discussed the fall out of River's loss, Flamengo's flurry of transfer activity, and new boys Red Bull Bragantino making noise in the Sudamericana.

The Premier League is up and running but not without a few bumps in the road for some of last season's brightest performers. The opening weekend of the season was jam-packed full of storylines and I tried to separate reality from overreaction. Plus, Tigres' slow start under Miguel Herrera, Boca Juniors' latest flat performance, and the traveling circus that is Arsenal stopping off in Brentford.

A loaded & scattered show. I discussed the Copa Libertadores' showcase quarterfinals that saw two Brazilian sides take a step forward while another--Sao Paulo--came away with little to show for a mostly brilliant performance.

I also tried to put a finger on what's hurting River Plate, wondered if the Leagues Cup is a worthwhile endeavor, reacted to Juan Antonio Pizzi's targeted remarks towards the Racing board and much, much more.

Elsewhere, I discuss Ligue Un's brilliant opening weekend, speculate on potential strikers that Inter, Roma, Liverpool, and Bayern could sign, praise the work of a pair of managers in Brazil, and somehow find time to wonder about Michy Batshuyai's Chelsea future ahead of the UEFA Super Cup.

It wasn’t too long ago that we suggested Club America could be a dangerous team if Henry Martin or one of their others strikers hit top form. Well, Martin has done just that and the result is that Santi Solari is left loving life after a massive derby win that has Chivas headed back to the drawing board once again. Ronaldo & Messi are both out of the Champions League and everyone in the media was quick to throw blame especially after Juventus exited in stunning fashion to Porto. Also considered is Ronald Koeman's future in the context of Barca's expected departure from the Champions League and Manchester United's passive approach against Pioli's mature Milan.

Teams from Manchester, Madrid, and Munich are often the ones that draw our attention but, for the vast majority of us, it was a slightly smaller club that first caught our attention somewhere along the line and made us fall in love with the sport we all enjoy so much. Scott Parker’s Fulham have been the perfect representation of football’s less glamorous but equally riveting side this season. As a result, today we open the show by praising the growth of the London side after their stunning win at Anfield that—if you’ve been following their progress—isn’t actually all that stunning.

Later, we do tough on some of those bigger sides as Atleti, City and Bayern all defended their position at the top of the table against their chief rival this weekend. We break down Benzema’s importance, United’s resilient defense, and Leipzig’s step up to the big leagues while also keeping a close eye on the big Champions League nights ahead for many of those teams. Sao Paulo’s waterlogged win, Tottenham’s dynamic duo, Abel Ferreira’s debut double, and Club America’s mercenary mentality are just a few of the other topics discussed.

In a weekend of massive derbies, none is bigger than the clash between Simeone's Atleti and Zizou's Real which could well decide the fate of the La Liga title race. Watching from the passenger seat are Barcelona whose improvement under Koeman continued with a stunning come from behind win that gave them a chance at winning what could be a famous trophy. Elsewhere, Manchester United fight to keep Man City's hands off the Premier League trophy for a few more weeks, but, first, we reflect on the brilliance that has led City to this point.

We also praise Timo Werner's stellar work at Anfield, discuss Der Klassiker, and wonder if Tigres might awake from their slumber too late to chase down the trophies their talent indicates they could win. Solari's America, Pogba's impact and the soaring confidence of Leipzig are also topics of discussion on a loaded pod.

On a weekend which had the potential to shift the La Liga title race, it was Real Madrid who fumbled the bag by dropping points to Real Sociedad on Monday after Atleti & Barca had held serve on the days before. We discuss how Koeman got his tactics just right and how Atleti may now be ready to cruise home after seeing Real miss a massive chance.

We also discuss Monterrey & Tijuana’s intriguing draw that showed both Rayados & Xolos are legit contenders to win the Liguilla, praise RB Leipzig after a heroic come from behind win kept them in the title race and wonder what the fascination with moving your best players further from the goal is. Plus, we discuss Thomas Tuchel running his mouth in regards to Tammy Abraham’s emotions and dive into AC Milan’s win over Roma and impending Europa League tie against Man United.

Apologies for any audio issues with today’s show. There was a slight error with audio levels—hopefully the remastering of the file has largely eliminated them—but we’re really sorry if the quality is affected. Friday’s show should be back to the normal standard. Hope you enjoy anyways!

Flamengo are champions of Brazil but not without another dose of late drama from title rivals Inter who nearly snatched the crown with the final kick of the season. We discuss the beauty of the Brasilerao’s final day and why it means critics of Brazilian football need to abandon their tired narrative. We also talk European nights as Chelsea & Real Madrid survived for narrow victories while Milan struggled their way into the last sixteen of the Europa League.

In addition to all that, we discuss a high powered attack trying to combat Mexico’s sternest defense when Monterrey meets Tijuana before giving out NBA style awards for some of Europe’s top performers this season including Scott Parker, Ruben Dias, Nicolo Barella, Wout Weghorst, Franck Kessie, Daichi Kamada, and many more.

Bayern Munich (predictably) swooped for a bargain deal on one of their competition's key players. We discuss how Bayern may have mishandled their signing of Dayot Upamecano but praise the Bavarians' business over the years and point to it as a (somewhat unachievable) model for other sides in Europe to aim for. We also discuss the mountainous odds that a club like Leipzig faces to realistically become Bayern's equal in the decades to come for a variety of factors.

Later, we discuss how expectations can ruin a marriage--both in actuality--but, more specifically, in football management. We view the weight of expectations in three cases, all in the city of London, via monsieurs Tuchel, Mourinho, and Arteta. We also discuss Leon's goal of winning the CONCACAF Champions League and wonder about the contenders for the Champions and Europa League while previewing this week's fixtures including Leipzig-Liverpool, Barca-PSG, and Ajax-Lille.

Things are not always as they seem. Football players and managers have private lives and they're none of our business. And yet, those private lives will impact their on-field performance which is something people should consider before having a go at them. We start the show by discussing this seemingly obvious truth that's been forgotten by the detractors of Jurgen Klopp and numerous others. Later, we turn the page and explore a variety of stories that are slowly emerging from the most crowded football calendar ever. We wonder whether Pep's City can win a quadruple, suggest that Italian football is back, and try to gauge just how many managers in the Brasilerao will be sacked after another week full of dropped points.

We also discuss Thomas Tuchel's progress on finding his best team, wonder whether Spurs might be nearly out of gas, analyze the impact of Neymar's injury for PSG, and review the CONCACAF Champions League Round of 16 draw. A number of key injuries had Milan reeling for the first time this season in the early parts of the new calendar year, but the Rossoneri have their stars back and look ready for a stretch run that could finally see the side claim the Scudetto once again. We evaluate the prospects of Pioli's men as well as their rivals for the title Inter and Juve before taking a similar look at races all across Europe including City grabbing control of the race for the Premier League Title and each of the French challengers showcasing their full potential.

We also discuss the UFC's crowded heavyweight division after another contender entered the mix in the form of Alexander Volkov, preview the Club World Cup final between Tigres and Bayern, and discuss the restructured format of the CONCACAF Champions League. As if all that weren't enough, we track the progress of Club America and Cruz Azul under their new managers, ponder whether Barca might be La Liga favorites had they kept Luis Suarez, and wonder whether Santos would sack Cuca if the team fail to qualify for next season's Copa Libertadores.

Somehow, the name Phil Foden wasn't mentioned once on this show but rest assured the boy is a genius and we will discuss his exploits at the top of Friday's show. Subscribe so you don't miss that and a preview of a loaded weekend ahead on Friday!

A weekend slate which seemingly had so much potential last Friday evening was...well....it was what it was. All of the major games including the Copa Lib final (boring), the Man United-Arsenal match (scoreless), Marseille & Stade Rennes (cancelled) failed to live up to the hype. We still managed to squeeze two hours out of the weekend by calling out PSG, evaluating game 2 of Tuchel's reign at Chelsea, questioning whether anyone in Liga MX is actually good, and wondering what happened to the Sao Paulo team that was soaring atop the Brasilerao.

We also discuss Jose's future at Spurs, suggest that Scott Parker's Fulham may be doomed to an unfortunate relegation, and evaluate the January transfer window's most notable moves including Ozan Kabak's loan to Liverpool. We also lament the lack of fights and music from the weekend.

The most important game in the Western hemisphere has arrived as Santos meet Palmerias at the Maracana in the Copa Libertadores final. We preview the game and discuss whether Cuca's experience is the x-factor, wonder if Weverton might be the difference maker, and predict that the team who paces themselves best may just win this massive clash. Then, we bounce back across the Atlantic and recap the Premier League's midweek action which saw Spurs take a hit while North London rivals Arsenal continue to creep towards the European places. We also discuss the relegation six-pointer at the AMEX, Man United's shocking loss to last-place Sheffield, and Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea bow.

Later, we bounce around the globe to cover a fiery Milan derby which ended with Lukaku's side smiling, a potentially decisive weekend for the race of challengers to Ajax in the Netherlands, and a massive week for the Champions League hopefuls in the Bundesliga. We also wonder whether Lille & Lyon can continue to challenge Pochettino's PSG, debate whether the Brazilian title is Inter's to lose, and assess the varying states of panic at Mexico's biggest football clubs. Regrettably, we also forget poor Carlos Gonzalez's last name for the third week running before closing the show by reviewing the recently-confirmed card for UFC 259 which sees three title fights including a big test for pound-for-pound star Israel Adesanya.

In a weekend of wild results, the continued madness of the Brasileirao reached new heights as Inter stunned Gremio to tighten their grasp on top spot. We discuss the controversial call that gave Inter the win and the continued implosion of title rivals Sau Paulo who were held by strugglers Coritiba. But first, we discuss all of the action from around Europe including Newcastle's cluelessness, Milan's inexperience, and Leipzig's questionable late game tactics. We also suggest that Liverpool will be okay, wonder whether Messi's absence may have exposed a new side of Frenkie de Jong's game, and praise the performance of Thomas Tuchel's former side--PSG--while wondering if the German was the right choice for Chelsea.

At the end of the show, we discuss Young Dolph's Rich Slave (which I only now realize is actually just a deluxe re-release) and wonder whether too many of today's artists are neither clever nor creative when making music. Finally, we react to UFC 257 including stunning displays by Michael "Bootstraps" Chandler and Dustin Poirier. We also discuss Conor McGregor's future and call for rumors of his demise to be quieted until they have legit reason to exist.

It all felt inevitable, but it has finally happened and Chelsea have sacked club legend Frank Lampard halfway through his second season at the London side. We discuss the move from every angle and suggest that the players giving upon Lampard in last week's loss to Leicester was probably damage that even an FA Cup win against second-tier Luton could never fix. We also discuss the aspects of Lampard's management that failed him and wonder if not knowing how to be harsh on players in the right situations may have been his undoing.

We also discuss the appointment of former Borussia Dortmund and PSG manager Thomas Tuchel as Lampard's successor. While he's smart tactically, we worry that the German is not cut out for some of the other aspects of football management which proved to be his undoing at the French giants.

We're officially (not really) halfway through the Premier League season so ESPN thought it was a good time to give out awards. We mock their picks (Kurt Zouma) and give our definitely (not) correct picks for all the major honors. We also discuss Liverpool's loss and commend Burnley's improvement over the course of the season before checking in on all of the teams in the title race including Leicester, Man United and City. We also checked on Chelsea and tried to figure out what's going on with their managerial position. Crystal Palace also receive loads of praise for the addition of Jean-Philippe Mateta .

Later, we talked all the football around the world including a big game for PSG against Montpellier, a chance for Frankfurt to gain ground on their top four rivals, and the madness unfolding in the race for the Brasilerao title as Sao Paulo lose control against Inter. As always, Liga MX gets some love as we check in on Santi & Juan once again and wonder whether Pumas might be hiding in plain sight. Finally, we wonder where Eddie Hearn found Canelo's next opponent and preview Conor McGregor's long-awaited return against Dustin Poirier in UFC 257.

Max Holloway delivered a performance for the ages on fight night that had Calvin Kattar headed to the back row of homeroom. We discuss the Hawaiian's dominant display and wonder what challenge could lie ahead for him--including a couple of intriguing bouts in the lightweight division. First, we discuss the weekend of football including the ever-intriguing relegation battle that saw Fulham lose ground on Brighton despite a brave performance against Chelsea while Wolves gifted three vital points to Big Sam's Baggies.

We also handicap the race for the Premier League title and suggest that it may be best defense (see Dias, Ruben) wins while wondering if Ole suddenly has an unexpected leg up on Jurgen in one vital area. Title races around the globe are also discussed with the tightening pack in Brazil and the Milan runaway in Serie A grabbing a large share of the attention. Plus, we reflect on the second week of play in Liga MX which saw Santos & Monterrey step forward as the two clear favorites out of the gate.

It's early, but the biggest weekend of the year so far is here. A clash of the top two teams in the table in England is here with traditional powers United & Liverpool once again taking center stage. We discuss United's win over Burnley, praise City's other-worldly defense, and wonder how high Scott Parker's Fulham can fly. We also bounce around Europe to discuss a number of other "prove it" matches as Roma aim to show their title credentials in the Derby della Capitale, Feyenoord look to upset Ajax's title ambitions in De Klassieker, and Ronald Koeman looks to win his first trophy* (yes, asterik) for over a decade.

Plus, Max Holloway returns to the cage for what could be a career-altering moment while our long wait for some hip-hop releases to talk about continues. We also plead with Cruz Azul's players to help out our friend Juan Reynoso, wonder whether Boca or Palmerias' pursuit of their league title is more damaged by their midweek Copa Libertadores showing, and preview a pair of mouthwatering clashes across the globe: Club America-Monterrey & Southampton-Leicester. At some point in the show, we also fixed super cups.

In a few deft touches of the ball by Antony in Der Topper on Sunday, Sebastien Haller saw more magic than his former teammates managed to produce over entire ninety minutes of water-logged football away to Stockport. Elsewhere, Brighton & Newport managed to make even a penalty shootout uninspiring while Carlos Vinicius put a team of trainee plumbers to the sword by thrashing the ball home from about six inches out. We recap all of the "magical" action from a weekend that has us wondering whether "malaise" wouldn't be a better description of England's oldest trophy.

Later, we discuss all the football that was actually enjoyable to watch including a tide-turning weekend in the Bundesliga, a wild finish to an enthralling campaign in Argentina, and a Dutch classic worthy of its nickname. Plus, the potential plight of Juan Reynoso at Cruz Azul and a preview of all of the mid-week action around the globe.

For many who don't follow the league, Major League Soccer is seen as a joke and the decision to sack Diego Alonso in favor of Phil Neville will only reinforce that gross stereotype. We discuss how Beckham's "jobs for the boys" move is a perfect representation of what's wrong with the philosophy of those in power in MLS and how the league could fix its problems and go to a new level.

We also discuss the semifinals of the EFL Cup and the Copa Libertadores, Sebastien Haller's move to the Netherlands, Arsenal's transfer plans, Diego Simeone's future at Atleti, and a host of other topics.

Later, we preview the weekend in the word of football including the FA Cup welcoming the Premier League sides, the Bundesliga reaching a critical juncture, and crucial games in Argentina & the Netherlands. Manchester United found a way to win and the resolve they showed means they may actually be a legit threat to Liverpool's throne. That said, we don't think so. We discuss how a thoroughly unpredictable season seems to be heading to a pretty familiar conclusion in most of the top leagues with a couple of notable exceptions.

One of those exceptions, Barcelona, also goes under the microscope. We wonder what the club's direction is and once again question the decision to appoint a manager like Ronald Koeman. We also praise Club America's managerial appointment but predict that it won't end well and suggest that Brighton should find itself a new manager after yet another failure by Graham Potter and his players.

The cancellation of Everton's game against Man City meant there was plenty of time for this episode to go off the rails and boy did it.

We discuss why City shouldn't have to forfeit just yet, wonder how a string of cancellations could hurt City's silverware ambitions, and commend Roy Hodgson and Brendan Rodgers for staying level-headed in the press. We also discuss a pair of Leicester standouts, wonder about Villa's top four ambitions, and suggest that Chelsea's best lineup is Hakim Ziyech and ten warm bodies.

Later, we predict which teams will make the top four come the end of the season, discuss Messi's potential move to PSG, and dig into the Guardian's Top 100 list. Needless to say, this is the point of the show where things went off script. (P.S. I realized while editing this that Marco Verratti isn't even ranked. If I had noticed that sooner I would've spent the entirety of this episode complaining about it.)

This episode was all over the map. We start by discussing the Premier League fixtures on Sunday and conclude the level of quality on display was definitely not what we hoped to find under our tree on Christmas weekend. We discuss the officiating gaffe that cost Sean Dyche's team a point in a loss to Leeds, the mediocre standard of play in Brighton's draw with West Ham, and the imperfections that title-chasing sides like Liverpool and Spurs carry.

Later, we preview the midweek action in the Premier League including a suggestion that City are Liverpool's biggest rivals for the title and that Aston Villa may be in position to seriously dent Chelsea's hopes of getting top four. We also consider whether Foden could leave for Real Madrid and question what Chelsea plan to do if they really are able to sing Erling Haaland. Neymar's exploits this holiday season are also discussed as the Brazilian's ego appears to be clashing with Pochettino's style before the Argentine even signs on at the Parisien club.

Manchester United are suddenly in the top four and they have a chance to reinforce that position by beating Leicester City on Boxing Day. We discuss that game and wonder which team will get on the front foot given the way both teams like to counter attack. Later, we preview the rest of the Premier League slate over the Boxing Day weekend including a lopsided London derby, a massive chance for Pep and City plus a matchup of Portuguese managers which holds massive implications for both.

We also question if footballers are embracing their lifestyle enough after James Harden put the entire NBA season in jeopardy.

Brentford may be one of the better sides in the Championship but Newcastle's inability to get things going against the Bees shows how dire things may soon become for Steve Bruce & the Toon. We cover that game plus the rest of the EFL Cup quarterfinals by pleading with Pep to give Foden more game time, wondering whether Ole might not be such a big fan of the United way after all, and questioning if Spurs have what it takes to put teams to the sword after a comfortable but not overly impressive win against a depleted Stoke side.

We also cover the CONCACAF Champions League Final in the middle of the show. After giving LAFC the appropriate and deserved praise, we conclude that Liga MX still has a pretty clear edge on MLS with teams like LAFC standing as the exception rather than the rule in the battle for North American supremacy. We suggest that the composition of the corresponding national teams and the desire to spend money on players from abroad delineates the level in Mexico and the United States.

Burnley's steady progress continued with a statement win over a Wolves side that are clearly missing their number nine. We talk about what Man United + Arsenal could learn from Sean Dyche and wonder whether Nuno will look for an ally to Fabio Silva in the winter window. We also discuss Chelsea's (sort of) comprehensive victory over London rivals West Ham and once again praise the game of Tammy Abraham up front for the Blues.

Later, we preview the EFL Cup quarterfinals by discussing whether Newcastle can hang with Brentford, predicting that City & Arsenal will again lack creativity, and wondering whether Everton or Manchester United could challenge for the Premier League title. Plus, we beg Tottenham to take mercy on young Blondy Nna Noekeu on his professional debut.

On an overwhelmingly crowded day in the Premier League, we break down all six games from start to finish culminating with the clash of title challengers at Anfield. We argue that while the margins were incredibly thin Liverpool may have marginally edged it because of the way they induced an extra level of fatigue from Spurs that no other opponent has. Plus, we conclude nothing has been learned in the title race and wonder whether Son's offside decision exposes an inherent flaw in VAR that undermines the purpose of the system entirely.

But first, we discuss all the other games. We praise the brilliance of Jack Harrison, suggest Fulham are trending past Brighton despite an uninspiring showing from both, and wonder whether Leicester can learn to break down opponents when dominating possession. We also discuss one of the most stunning overhead volleys you'll ever see at the London Stadium, praise the progress (no matter how slight) that Arsenal's attack made, and swoon over yet another tactical masterstroke by Carlo Ancelotti.

As if being bounced to the Europa League weren't bad enough, Manchester United received arguably the most difficult draw possible and will face a former City rival in the knockout stages next spring. Likewise, Arsenal may find it difficult to continue their strong European form as Benfica will present new and difficult challenges to a Gunners team that is already in great difficulty in Premier League play. Elsewhere, Tottenham will feel fortunate having drawn one of the competition's weaker teams while Lille and Ajax promises to be the standout fixture on Thursday evenings next spring.

After a largely (Everton-omitted) dull Saturday in the Premier League, Sunday's action was a reminder of why we all love this league so much. While Southampton held serve emphatically, Liverpool & Spurs both dropped points before Arsenal were once again embarrassed on home soil. We discuss all of the action from around the grounds including how good Southampton & Leicester can be, how much of an influence Eze and Parker have had on their respective clubs, and how many of Klopp & Mourinho's players who started today's game will be called upon once again when they clash on Wednesday.

We also wonder whether Mikel Arteta knows the definition of insanity and ask what Rhian Brewster stands to gain from the stop start run in the team he's currently receiving. As always, we start the show by discussing all the action from around the continent including another twist in the Ligue Un title race that saw Neymar severely injured and the sacking of Borussia Dortmund manager Lucien Favre just hours after his team were battered at home against Stuttgart.

Elsewhere, Chelsea--now installed as title favorites by Jurgen Klopp--have an intriguing game against Everton ahead while a developing rivalry in the midlands suddenly represents a clash of European hopefuls.

We discuss all that plus who needs to win the Manchester Derby more, why Steve Bergwijn has joined Mourinho's inner circle, will Newcastle-West Brom be watchable and much more ahead of match day twelve. But first, we recap all of the action in Europa League play including Sociedad's stunning escape, Cluj's controversial exit, and a look ahead to who will be the biggest threats in the last thirty-two draw.

We recap all of the action on Champions League match day six including Real's win over Gladbach (who themselves qualified as well), Ajax's dramatic loss to Atalanta, Brugge's heartbreaker against Lazio, and a shambolic sequence of events that saw United crash out of the Champions League having been firmly in control of their group through two matches.

We also discuss strange scenes as Shakhtar celebrate elimination, Inter flop once again, Juve batter Barcelona, and Atletico sneak past Salzburg. As always, the rest of the English sides-City, Liverpool, and Chelsea-are also discussed though there was, admittedly, far less to say about their outings.

We start the show off by recapping Southampton's win over Brighton--feeling less than convinced that either team deserved more than a draw. We discuss the influence of Danny Welbeck, the understated performance of Kyle Walker-Peters, and a VAR decision that feels neither entirely right nor entirely wrong.

Later, we preview the week ahead in Europe including predictions on decisive days in the crowded Group B and the always intriguing Group H. We also discuss how Pep, Klopp, Lampard, and their Europa League colleagues should handle what is essentially a free fixture before wondering whether Zidane's job is on the line over the next week. We also discuss why Joao Felix and Anthony Martial could decide their team's fates and how Atalanta and Ajax could easily be one of the games of the year in deciding who qualifies behind Liverpool.

Tottenham picked up another scalp on their road to silverware under Jose Mourinho by downing rivals Arsenal behind a goal from each of their dynamic duo up front. Further back, Hojbjerg once again controlled the action with Sissoko proving a more than capable sidekick. We discuss all of that plus why Arsenal shouldn't be discouraged but still need massive improvement. Later, we wonder how Liverpool's dynamic attack might fair against Spurs' deep block.

Plus, we praise Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after a flat first half gave way to a brilliant second half showing highlighted by the performance of four key players that could come together to turn United's tide.

Plus, we also discuss a game at the Etihad that should leave both managers smiling and a draw at Turf Moor that may leave both managers feeling a little bit disappointed.

Tottenham are top of the Premier League table while rivals Arsenal appear to be in crisis. Yet, Sunday's derby could flip both of those narratives on their head. But first, we review the Europa League action where--in a turn of events--Arsenal were the only English team to impress on match day six. We also discuss whether Sociedad bottled their chance for European glory by dropping points in a seemingly winnable match with their place in the knockout stages in flux.

There was plenty of great football to talk about on Saturday, but we start the episode with the incident that sole most of the Saturday headlines--Jurgen Klopp's interview with BT Sport following Liverpool's draw with Brighton. We consider both sides of the argument, argue that common sense backs Klopp, and wonder whether media outlets know how ridiculous they look for having their pundits blindly back the agreement which stands to make them the most money.

Later, we get to the football with the muddled La Liga title race, PSG's inability to stamp their mark on Ligue Un, and Dortmund's dropped points all on the agenda. As always, English football dominates the agenda with Liverpool's draw on the South coast, City's rampant win against Burnley, and an enthralling game at Goodison all discussed. Lastly, we close out the show by discussing the plight of Sheffield United and wondering whether anyone actually thinks Jurgen Klopp could be sacked before Carlo Ancelotti.

Tottenham showed their title credentials in a big way with a controlling victory over Manchester City that shows Pep Guardiola and company are some way off the mark. An early goal by Heung-Min Son perfectly set the table for Mourinho's game plan while Lo Celso put the game out of reach at the midpoint of the second half.

We discuss how Pep's stubbornness is his biggest flaw, why Mourinho was clever to swap his wingers, and how a trio of engines in Tottenham's side were the stars of the occasion.

Liverpool host Leicester this weekend in a game that Stateside Abroad thinks could play a decisive role in the race for this season's Premier League title. Meanwhile, Spurs and City collide in a game that carries equally high levels of importance for two teams that hope to push Liverpool off their perch as champions.

Later, we preview the two standout fixtures plus the other eight that will make Premier League match day nine including discussion on Graham Potter's job security, predictions on whether Fulham can manage without Mario Lemina, and another plea for Nuno to set his team free ahead of a tricky match against Southampton.
