The IDEAL Factor Hosts Dr. Robert Hamas, founder/CEO of Ideal Implant and Gabe Walters, VP of Sales for Ideal Implant, engage in real, authentic conversations with recognized plastic surgeons on a variety of topics concerning the profession and specifically breast augmentation. Dr. Hamas is a recently retired, 37-year plastic surgeon and Gabe Walters has spent his entire career working for manufacturers in the pharma and plastic surgery markets.
Dr. Meghan Nadeau tells us about her passion, at a young age, to go to medical school after reading an article about Doctors Without Borders in Vogue Magazine. She saw it as a way to help people and give back. From Ole Miss undergrad to University of Kentucky med school, Dr. Nadeau moved into residency at Ohio State. This all culminated with an Aesthetic Fellowship with Dr. Grant Stevens that changed the trajectory of her career.
The transformation that happens in a couple of hours is what ultimately drew her to plastic surgery. Dr. Nadeau expands upon the continuum between reconstructive and cosmetic surgery as well as the restoration of the female form, post-child bearing. From cosmetic to reconstructive to gender affirmation surgery, Dr. Nadeau discusses the varied techniques and anatomic considerations that come into play with these procedures.
For the first time, The IDEAL Factor hosts Dr. Shahram Salemy, plastic surgeon, in Seattle, and one of his patients, Kendra, as guests to this thought-provoking episode. Kendra’s patient journey covers her desire to have implants since her early teens to doing her own research, conversations with friends, and finally selecting Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. Salemy.
With fitness in mind, soccer and weightlifting, Kendra was very diligent in her selection process as to which implant would best suit her needs and wants. She also expresses her concern of implant rupture and not knowing when a leakage may occur. Kendra went to her initial consult with a specific implant in mind. In this episode Dr. Salemy discusses his time spent in undergrad and med school, at Yale University. From there he travels to the University of Washington where he “saw Mt Rannier in the morning and decided this is where I want to live”. At the University of Washington Dr. Salemy participated in an elite program that has a hospital affiliation exposing students to everything in medicine. While he knew at an early age that a surgeon’s life was his destiny, it was at UW that he decided on Plastic Surgery.
The three main operations performed in his practice are Breast Enhancements, Tummy Tucks, and Mommy Makeovers. Knowing when to combine all three and when to handle them individually is an acquired skill and critical to patient outcomes and patient safety.
Dr. Richard Korentager, Chairman of The Department of Plastic Surgery at The University of Kansas visits with Dr. Robert Hamas. In this compelling conversation Dr. Korentager discusses his experience in Breast Reconstruction over the past several decades.
“The results of today's implant-based reconstruction procedures compared to the late 1990s are amazing”.
