There was a time I avoided looking at my bank account because I was scared of what I’d see. In this episode, I’m sharing five real changes that helped me finally feel in control of my money.
Two are mindset shifts that changed how I think about money, and three are simple actions that made managing it feel easier and less overwhelming.
We talk about removing shame from your finances, paying yourself first, checking in with your money weekly, automating the boring stuff, and auditing subscriptions that quietly drain your account. These are practical habits that don’t require perfection, just consistency.
And on a personal note, this will be my final podcast episode for now. Thank you for being here and for letting me be part of your money journey.

I'm not going to lie to you - I'm a little bit nervous about releasing this episode.
Partly because I'm talking about something that I have experience in, but not professional training in. And also, because I'm going to be very vulnerable and open here. I'm going to be sharing something about myself that not a lot of people know about. And usually, when they do find out about it, they're pretty shocked. And that is: I struggle with anxiety and depression.
I need to add this disclaimer: I am not a therapist. I am not a psychiatrist. My experiences with the subject that I'm speaking on today stem from my own personal experiences.
If you've ever battled with anxiety or depression, you understand that our money doesn't care about our mental status. Life still goes on. Bills still need to be paid. This is why it's so important to create systems and safeguards for our money so that when our mental state isn't the best, our money can still do what it needs to do.
In this episode, I'm sharing the 5 things you can set in motion TODAY to ensure you thrive financially in the midst of anxiety, depression, and/or financial stress!

Years ago, a fellow teacher and friend came to my classroom to talk to me about something that felt very vulnerable and scary to share. She knew I was passionate about personal finances, and she needed help - fast! She was pregnant with her second child. The problem was her and her husband were living paycheck to paycheck and couldn't afford daycare. They needed to find a way to afford an extra $900 a month. Plus they were in serious credit card debt and had little to no savings.

You might even be going into the season with a good hold on your finances, a budget that's been working for you, and a money routine that helps you stay on track. Ever wish you could go back and warn your past self BEFORE making a huge mistake?
I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life…and a LOT of them surround money.
Why did I make so many money mistakes? Well, number one: I’m human. And number two, I wasn’t seeking out any help or guidance when it came to managing my money. Instead of thinking through money situations, I just acted on how I felt. I was emotional and impulsive when it came to money for YEARS. And looking back, I realize that some of my money mistakes really came down to impulsivity and simply a general lack of knowledge regarding personal finance.
Today, I'm sharing my five big money mistakes so that YOU can avoid them.

Do you avoid conversations about money with family, friends, loved ones... maybe even yourself?
Much of our actions with money today stem from our past beliefs and experiences. Learning to voice those beliefs and experiences about money is the first step in creating real change in your financial life.
My guests today are Julien and Kiersten Saunders, the co-founders of Rich and Regular, Hosts & Producers of Money on the Table, and authors of the forthcoming book, Cashing Out. After paying off over $200,000 in debt while making the transition from corporate employee to full-time entrepreneur, they have made it their mission to inspire better conversations about money. The conversation that we ended up having was nothing close to what I thought it was going to be, and I think that it's really going to open your eyes and your heart to looking at your past with money differently.
