A podcast to talk, share ideas and delve into what it is to look at things from a different perspective. The perspective of hope. Come gather around the figurative kitchen table as I share personal stories of redemption, Jesus and everything in between. We’ll find community around this table where there’s an open door policy and breaking bread together is a way of life. Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/gabby-labastida/support
Tim and I talk today about pain and suffering.
I know, who likes talking about that anyway right? But it is a great conversation that may challenge a bit of your ideas around the issue of pain and suffering.
We've both experienced those very things and have had to grapple with how to frame it around our theology of God's goodness and faithfulness. Maybe the abundant life also includes some hard things? Come join us and listen in to our stories of pain and how we are walking it out with hope even if it's not over and even if it's still hard and painful.

On Episode #7 we change things up a bit and have a candid conversation about the process of dating.
Tim and I get to share a bit of our story and how our relationship led us to do things a little different than the norm of today's dating relationships. It's an engaging conversation that will hopefully open up the conversation about dating in today's society and perhaps deconstructing the idea of dating might get us to a healthier more beautiful journey in love.

We all have experienced change in our lives.
I heard it once that change and transition are different. Change is the circumstances around the change, while transition is the process of our hearts in the midst of that change.
Today we talk about how having the courage to surrender to the transformative power of transition can really lead us to good and healthy growth in our lives. And that's all possible because we are ultimately surrendered to the person of Jesus!

Today at the table, we get to talk about rest in the transition, while also delving into slowing down enough to see people and actually stop for them.
I heard a spoken word once that talked about the "Pace of Jesus". A Japanese theologian expanded on this and studied what the potential pace of Jesus was and he found that it must have been around three miles an hour. He called this "the speed of love".
I just love this imagery and this is something we talk about today around the table.
Come join me and take time to rest, be, and walk more slowly and intentionally enough to stop for people and make eye contact.

This is our last part of "What's On the Menu?" as I share my vision for what this podcast is and what my heart is in doing this.
I share this week about community and relationships.
So often it's easy to do things alone and in our post-Covid world we've perhaps isolated and are slowly making our way out of that loneliness.
This is a challenge to perhaps invite someone to your table and have true connection with someone at the table.
We will also have a fun conversation with Tim about what community is and what it can look like in our lives.

Have you ever felt like you got lost somewhere along the journey of life? Where you adapted and changed things about yourself not because they were good healthy growing things to change but because you wanted to fit in and feel accepted?
We talk about identity today and the stories of our lives. I share a bit of my story and the journey back to being me.
Ultimately Jesus is the source of our identity. Without it we flounder and frantically splash around as we try to navigate identity outside of him. But with Jesus it's good, without Him we are all a little lost.
So come to the table and listen as we chat about what that solid foundation in our identity looks like.
Thanks for joining!

Hi friends. I wanted to leave a short introduction of what the vision and dream of creating a community of friends over the airwaves will look like in this podcast. Come join me in every day conversation, laughter, maybe a few tears (I am an Enneagram 4 after all) and a great time of delving into topics that will lead us closer to Jesus and into the deep end of growth. See you here every Thursday and you may even get to hear from my husband Tim and other guests from time to time. There’s a section on the notes to leave an answer to a question I’ve posted. This will be a great resource to connect!
