An op-ed column in the NYT has criticized Web3 as network of scams and sales of worthless items. They are not looking at the underlying value of the blockchain, dApps, smart contracts and more. The blockchain gaming platform Axie Infinity dropped 30% in value of its AXS token as gamers are leaving the platform in droves. The main culprit causing the issue is their Play-To-Earn tokenomics model that focuses on in-game profits rather than gameplay fun and community. New York is one step closer to banning Bitcoin mining, citing environmental concerns. These concerns have been discredited and the embargo would only push innovation and capital out of the state.
