Kids are known for asking a lot of questions, right? Kids are naturally curious and are always learning -- even if they don't realize it.
One of the biggest topics that kids have questions about is God. And rightly so! There's a lot to learn and discover about the Christian Faith.
And we believe that God delights in us asking questions -- because we're looking at Him!
In this episode, we are taking a look at some of the biggest and most common questions that kids ask about God like "Why do bad things happen?" or "Who created God?" or "Why did God create mosquitoes?"
If your kids have ever asked anything like that, this will be a great episode for you to listen to with your kids!
My guest for this episode is author and kids' camp speaker, Sandy Silverthorne. He's put together an incredible resource for families, "Kids' Big Questions For God: 101 Things You Want To Know"
This book is Perfect for kids ages 6-8, this fun book is great for sparking conversation over breakfast, reading before bed, and all those in-between times when kids’ minds are coming up with more questions to ask!
I hope this episode helps you have a great conversation with your kids!

Let's play a game for our preschool pals! Name 5 is one of the best games to play with preschoolers. Not only are they curious and creative, but preschoolers can remember details about almost everything!
Play this game with your preschooler while you're in the car this week. I have no doubt that you will have some fun and easy laughs!
How to play along in the episode:
I'll say a category like "Colors" and then the kids will name five different colors. Help your preschooler keep up with how many things to list and work together to come up with the answers.
Make it more challenging for older children who are listening by requiring them to list 10 items instead of 5.
I hope you and your kids have a blast playing this quick and easy game! Click here for the expanded show notes on alongfortheride.info for extra Name 5 categories you can use if you want to keep playing after the episode is over.

Bible trivia was one of my favorite games to play when I was a kid and I am so excited to play our first-ever Bible Trivia game here on AFTR!
But this isn't your typical game of Bible Trivia - this is a naming-style game that encourages everyone to come up with the answers together, opening up discussions about God and what we read in the Bible.
And an important note - You do not have to be an expert about the Bible to play this game! You and your kids should have a fun time even if you don't know the answers.
You will definitely hear me stump myself on one of the questions about Jesus' disciples 😂
Kids of all ages can enjoy this game. We've even got a special set of questions for our preschool listeners!

Praying to God is a big part of being a Christian. When you think about how amazing it is that we have access to God through prayer, it's actually pretty mind-blowing!
As you are pointing your child to Christ through conversations at home, Bible reading, and going to church, you can also teach them what it means to pray.
This episode is packed with simple ideas on ways you can model prayer in your day-to-day life and pray together as a family.
My guest, Erica Renaud has just released an incredible book that goes deeper into teaching children how to pray and helping them engage in prayer with God. I'm so happy to have her with us on this episode sharing about this incredible topic!

Everyone needs to take a break from time to time - parents and kids. There are times when we can all get overwhelmed with our emotions.
And while it's okay to feel those emotions, we must all learn what to do with them.
Part of being a kid is learning how to use self-control. Let's be real, adults are still learning this too.
Kids are capable of calming themselves down, they just need some help and guidance in knowing what to do!
Joining me on this episode is my special guest, Wendy Snyder. Wendy is a parenting coach and is full of great ideas on how kids can work on calming themselves down when big feelings rise up.
This is a kid-focused episode, so we'll explain things on their level giving real-life examples of when we know we need to take a break and chill out and 4 strategies they can use to self-regulate.
It's my intention to support you in your parenting by giving you a launching pad to be able to talk about topics like this in a casual way, where another voice is emphasizing the same messages you are at home.
This is a good one, my friend. I hope it's helpful for your family!

If you and your family attend church on a regular basis, you might have heard this word said by your pastor - Theology.
It can kind of be an intimidating word, but come to find out... it's not!
Theology means “thinking about God” or studying the Bible - it’s the study of God. What you know about God and what you believe about God impacts your whole life.
I’ve got my new friend, author, and podcaster, Jenny Randle, joining me on the show today to help us understand why theology is a big deal for families and how what we know about God can shape our family culture.
We're also sharing 3 easy ways that you can incorporate more family conversations about theology into your everyday rhythms - so helpful!
And this episode airs the week before Easter - what amazing timing! Stick around to the end for a quick, easy, and fun Easter Game!

And as much as parents want to shield their children from feeling any sort of sadness (me included!), it's important for us to teach our children how to cope with sadness and give them some tools to use for the times when they do experience sadness.
On this episode of Along For The Ride, we’re having a casual chat about sadness. We're talking about 4 ideas of things that kids can do when they feel sad that will help them feel happier. We're also talking about how kids can be there for a friend when that friend feels sad.
This is a really equipping episode for families to listen to together. There is time in the episode for discussion, but you should definitely plan to keep the conversation going once the episode is over!
My friend and fellow podcaster, Jeannette Tapley, joins me for this episode! She’s a mom with 3 teenagers, so she knows a thing or two about helping kids get through happy and sad times.
Even though we're talking about sadness, this is still a really uplifting episode! I know your whole family is going to benefit from this conversation whether it's today or down the road.

My music-loving toddler inspired this episode!
I am always so impressed when he can identify the different instruments. He loves playing with his instrument toys and listening to music.
And I thought that doing a specific musical sounds instrument identifying game would be fun for my preschool pals!
This episode features a sound game where I'll play a sound of an instrument and then give 3 options for the kids to guess the instrument.
And the last instrument features a special tune that you might be surprised to hear...
I hope that you have the best time playing this game with your preschooler!

A great way to get your kids outside and spend more time together as a family is by planting a family garden. This is your year to get out the shovels and buy some seeds and have a big family project that everyone can be responsible for!

Something that I find most kids want to talk about is their birthdays!
Birthdays are a big deal for kids. You might think that kids just love birthdays because they get to have a party, eat cake, and receive gifts, but there’s actually a lot more to it!
Birthdays help kids start understanding time and years. Having celebration parties, even if it’s just a small gathering with family, help children feel loved and more connected to their families and help them create positive memories to look back on.
Celebrating a birthday is always worth it!
In this episode, we are sharing 6 ideas of traditions you can start doing in your family to celebrate and commemorate birthdays.
I invited my friend and fellow birthday lover, Christen Clark of the Collide Kids Podcast to join me for this episode. She has so many fantastic ideas!
We’re also sharing 4 ways that kids can help their friends and siblings feel special on their birthdays because everyone has a birthday!
This episode emphasizes the joy of serving other people and thinking of others in a unique way that will help children think beyond their own birthday times, but really notice others in a positive way!
Oh and as you’re listening, just pretend like there are balloons everywhere. You can’t have a birthday without balloons!
Listen with your children, and let the conversations flow.

This episode is all about ways kids can learn to show Kindness. This is a big topic because practicing kindness is one of those things that everyone is capable of doing, no matter how young or how old you are.
Kindness brings smiles. Smiles bring fun. And we are all about fun here on Along For The Ride!
There are 2 parts to this Along For The Ride episode:
In the conversation part of the show, I am detailing 8 different ways that kids could show kindness to the people around them. There's even time baked into the show for everyone to name one way that they will show kindness in the following week.
When you declare something out loud, you are much more likely to do it. So this simple exercise will help your kids stick to their kind actions.
In our interactive game segment, we're emphasizing kindness even more with a choice game. In this activity, kids will hear 2 descriptions of actions and pick which one is the kindest option. It's a great thinking activity that points back to our Kindness theme.
And there is also a game within a game happening during this episode! I've asked kids to keep a tally of how many times I say the word "Kindness" within the episode. Hint - it's a lot!
Listen with your children, play along, and let the conversations flow.

Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is a really interesting topic. Kids can start developing emotional intelligence in early childhood and will have considerable advantages when it comes to how they learn to regulate their own emotions, develop relationships, and develop empathy for others.
Emotional Intelligence is the capacity to be aware of, control, and express one's emotions, and handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically.
It's never too early to help your child get a handle on his or her emotions!
In this episode we are playing 2 emotion themed games and then end the show with a great launch pad for you as the parent to discuss what to do when your kids feel (fill in the blank emotion)

Playing sports is a big part of childhood for a lot of people. There is so much to learn and experience when you’re part of a team! Some of my best childhood memories are from when I played softball and basketball as a kid. Looking back, it was a great time of learning social skills, hard work, and teamwork! And the same is true for your kids. There is so much they can learn when they are contributing to a team.
Whether your children play sports or not, they are a part of a team in some capacity. Maybe they’re in a choir, a dance troupe, part of a cast in a play, a club at school, a boy scout or girl scout, etc.
Wearing a uniform to go play a sport isn’t the only way that kids are a part of teams.
Teamwork is a part of everyday life and it’s never too early to start learning what it means to be a good teammate.
There are 2 parts to Along For The Ride episodes.
In our interactive game segment (where the goal is to always have fun!), we’re playing an engaging game where everyone will race against the clock to think of as many words as you can for a particular letter or category.
And then in the 2nd part of the episode, we are having a conversation about what it means to be a good teammate.
This episode will ignite the competitive spirit and reinforce the good character that we want to see in our kids. Listen with your children, play along, and let the conversations flow.

Family traditions are the unique things that make each family special! The traditions that you build and do with your family year after year are for sure fun and enjoyable on the outside, but they are an amazing way to strengthen family bonds, give kids a sense of identiy, and offer comfort and security.
Have you ever identified your family traditions with your kids? Do they know why you have the traditions that you do?
This episode will give you 5 fun ideas for new traditions to start incorporating into the Autumn season.
Before diving into the fun traditions, we’re playing a memory re-call game called Name 10. Name 10 is an amazing game to play in the car with your kids!
The time is now to start adding new traditions to the Autumn season. Have an amazing time talking with your kids about the traditions that are important to your family and let the fun run wild while you think up ideas for new traditions together.

Sometimes kids need a little nudge when it comes to using their imaginations and dreaming up stories. When you give a child the basic building blocks of a story and let their creative minds fill in the blanks, you'll be surprised at what might come out of your child's mouth!
This episode brings the car-time fun by gamifying story-telling. Your crew (even if it's just the two of you) will work together to come up with quick, creative stories with my random story game!
After the story game, we'll talk about 5 things everyone can look forward to when going to a Fall Festival or a Pumpkin Patch this season. Conversation time is included for everyone to share what they are looking forward to when it comes to these classic fall events.
Listen to this episode with your kids and have a blast!

Teaching kids how to be kind is a daily lesson! Reinforce kindness and imagination with your preschoolers by listening and playing along with this special episode of Along For The Ride Junior.
Along For The Ride Junior episodes are written for preschoolers with special games and questions to engage their growing brains and interests!
In this episode we’ll play a fun game that will stretch imaginations and then we'll play a kindness scenario game where kids will choose whats kind vs what's not kind - a great way to teach kindnesss!
Click here to check out the expanded show notes on alongfortheride.info for more details and links that support this episode!
Imagination Game For Preschoolers - "Coulds and Woulds" This game is all about dreaming up the biggest, silliest, and funniest responses!
You can play this game independently wherever you are, or you can play along with my questions during this episode.
This is a great game that you can play anywhere - waiting for food at a restaurant, walking through the aisles of the grocery store, or around the dinner table at home! Bring your creativity to the questions and make it as fun as you can!
Kids Game To Teach Kindness - “Spot The Kindness” Kindness is a tricky subject for a preschooler to grasp. Where modeling kind behavior is the best approach in my opinion, a way to reinforce kindness is through scenario based questions.
How to Play:
This game, “Spot The Kindness” gives 2 different options for one scenario, the object of the game is to pick which option has the most kind action.
After you give the 2 options, ask “which one is more kind?” Let your child give an answer and then talk through the reasons why one option was more kind than the other.
This game brings creativity and visualization and makes learning about kindness fun and conversational!
When we play this game during this episode, I’m basing the scenarios around things we do in the fall season! You can play this game with your preschooler while listening to the episode, or you can play this game independently by using my themed-scenarios or making up your own!
I’m sure you can come up with some great scenarios to reinforce showing kindness every day!
An Easy Way To Remember To Show Kindness A short phrase you can teach your preschooler is, “I can be kind at any time.” Start working that phrase into your everyday life for an easy reminder to show kindness!
If you’ve ever thought, “I love Along For The Ride! It’s so fun and my kids love it!” Would you consider leaving a rating and review? It lets me know that you like the content and helps other families find the show!
I hope you enjoy listening to this episode with your preschooler! The activities in this episode are fun but also teach good character and give you insight on what your preschooler thinks!
Every few months I like to do a special creativity episode where we highlight creative things kids can do to celebrate the changing season.
I invited children’s book illustrator, Adam Trest, to join me for this episode! Adam is a full time artist and girl dad to 3 beautiful daughters. He is full of ideas and inspiration and I know that you and your kids are going to love getting to know Adam!
There is so much freedom when it comes to kids and creativity! When you listen to this episode with your kids you’ll all be inspired to get out the art supplies and make a colorful mess with the biggest smiles on your faces!
Car Game For Kids - Autumn Themed Guessing Game
Here’s how this game works: I describe something with hints and clues and the kids guess what it is - so easy! As you are listening with your kids, encourage them to say their answers out loud and work as a group to come up with the answers.
6 Easy Fall Art Projects For Kids
The Fall Season offers so many opportunities for fun and engaging art projects! Adam and I each share our top 3 easy and creative art projects for kids to do in the Autumn Season. Check the expanded show notes on alongfortheride.info for more ideas, references, and instructions on how to do them!
Encouraging Creativity in Kids We wrapped up the episode with a wonderful conversation about how his parents belief and support encouraged him to keep trying new things and practice his skills. It’s such a great conversation for kids to hear!
Notable Highlights:
I know you're going to enjoy this episode! Click here for more expansive show notes at alongfortheridelinfo.
If you and your family benefit from this show, please consider leaving a rating and review! It would mean the world to me!
In this episode we are playing a fun critical thinking game that will challenge your kids to figure out what they love and enjoy the most and talking about friendship! We are talking though qualities that make up a good friend in a fun way that I know your kids will enjoy.
This episode will for sure bring on some good learning points on what it means to be a good friend and will challenge your kids to act with kindness towards others.
Car Game With Kids - One Must Go How it works on the podcast: I will list out 3 to 4 things in a group, and then the players have to decide which one they could or would do without for the rest of their life.
How To Be A Good Friend Friendship is a great topic to discuss with kids! In this segment of this episode we are digging into 4 qualities that make someone a good friend. We’ll also do a few fill in the blank questions for kids to answer about friendship.
Knowing how to be a good friend is more important than how many friends you have.
If we want our friends to be nice to us, say kind things, share with us, and have fun doing things we like, then we should try to do the same things for them.
Maybe over dinner you and your kids can talk about ways that everyone can be good friend to kids in at school, at church, and to siblings.
I had a great time putting together this episode and I hope that you enjoyed it! One of the best ways that you can support the show is by leaving a rating and review wherever you listen to podcasts. I love reading the reviews and getting messages from listeners! It totally makes my week!
I hope that you and your family get to keep talking about friendship and what being a good friend looks like for the rest of the week!
Until next time! Read the full show notes at alongfortheride.info

Preschool Car Game - Repeat After Me This is such a fun game for preschoolers! It’s all about silly sounds and paying attention.
Here is how we play the game on the episode: I’ll give a pattern and the kids will repeat it back. It might be words to say. It might be funny sounds to make. It might be numbers to count. It might be claps with hands.
You can play this game anywhere! The next time you’re out and about and need an activity to pass the time or to keep your little one entertained, come up with different kinds of patterns for them to repeat - claps, snaps, foot stomps, words, sounds, numbers, anything you want!

Car Games For Kids - Red Light Green Light I think we can play a version of Red Light Green Light in the car! We obviously can't run around because we’re buckled in our seatbelts, but I KNOW there are a lot of things we can do safely buckled in.
I’m going to give a green light instruction, the kids do it and will have to pay attention to when I call for “Red Light” or “Yellow Light.” When I say red light you freeze, when I say Yellow Light you do the action in slow motion, when I say Green light you start doing the action I give.

And for the adults, maybe you’re excited about wearing a cozy sweatshirt and watching Hallmark movies or reading a book! It’s the simple things, yall!
Spend a little time sharing 3 things that you're excited about doing this season!
Autumn True or False Game In this episode we'll do a quick round of True or False since we’ve had so much fun talking about Autumn!

This is a jam packed episode perfect for a weekend road trip or a Saturday at home with your kids! We’re playing Would Your Rather Switch Hands Drawing (grab the kids some paper and something to draw with!) and I’ve got a special imagination exercise that just might buy you 5 minutes of quiet time.

For the month of September in 2022 I am giving away my brand new ebook to anyone who leaves a rating and review about the show. All you have to do is leave a review, take a screenshot, and then send me the screen shot. You can send it through an Instagram Direct Message to @aftr_kidspodcast or go to alongfortheride.info/contact.
Car Game For Kids - Would You Rather Would You Rather is one of my most favorite games ever! It’s creative and silly, makes you think a little bit, and can reveal information about people that you might not know!
I’m sharing Would You Rather Questions and will give a few seconds for everyone to say their answers. If you need more time with a question, just press pause on the show!
Kids Drawing Game - Now Switch Hands For this activity, kids will need a couple of pieces of clean paper and a writing utensil.
Here's how it works: I will give instructions for something to write or draw. I’ll call out "Now Switch Hands!" and the kids have to switch hands and keep drawing or writing. If they finish a section before I give the signal to move on, they’ll just start over and keep on going!
I would love to see pictures of the crazy hand-switching artwork! Snap a pic and tag or send a DM to Along for the Ride on Facebook or Instagram @aftr_kidspodcast. I’d love to see these amazing works of art!
Quiet Imaginative Thinking Exercise For Kids One thing that I loved doing when I was a kid and even know as an adult is to just let my mind wander and come up with fun ideas and possibilities! I want to give us a little time and space to do that here on the podcast.
Here is the challenge - I’m going to ask you a question and give you something to think about. Then everyone has to be totally quiet for 5 whole minutes.
Here’s the Question - “if you had all the money in the world to help people in need, what would you do?”
After this episode is over, don’t let it play to another episode or don’t put music on. Let’s have everyone try to sit quietly and think for 5 minutes! You could also do this on your own time! I bet your kid(s) will come up with some great answers!
Take it a step further and help them see how we don’t have to have all the money in the world to help people. Talk with them about what it looks like to help people by being kind, serving others, and offering to help.

In this episode, we are talking about and celebrating creativity! We are playing a word association game and I’ve got list of 8 ways that kids can express their creativity at home. We will wrap up our time with a little chat about creative ways that kids can make money.
Kids Car Game - Word Association
Have you ever played the word association game? This is our first time playing this game on Along For The Ride!
Here’s how we’ll play: I’m going to say a word and then you share the word that pops into your brain! I’ll give you a few seconds for you to answer. But don’t say the word that I say. You have to say a different word!
8 Ways Kids Can Express Creativity
Which of these activities sounds like the most fun and exciting ? Now you have an idea of what you’d like to do, and it’s time to do something about it! Make a plan to try one of these ideas this weekend or next week!
5 Ways Kids Can Make Money
Kids are naturally creative. Committing time for that creativity to flourish is so important! Parents, as you see your kid enjoying certain creative hobbies, encourage them to keep going! I remember when I was younger, I was always writing stories and sharing them with my parents. My mom would say, “You know, you’d make a great writer someday! I think you’ll be a writer when you grow up!” And that encouragement from her was so special. She saw my creativity as something special, and made me believe that I could do something special.

We’re talking ideas for weekly Family Fun Nights, playing a hilarious game of "Never Have I Ever," and wrapping this episode it up with a fun activity for your next family dinner!
Kids Car Time Game - "Never Have I Ever"
Here’s how this game works. I will say something like “Never have I ever felt sick after riding a roller coaster” and if you HAVE felt sick after riding a roller coaster, then you have to say “I have!” That’s it!
This makes for a fantastic game to play in the car!
Institute a Family Fun Night
And as I was thinking about other things that make summer really special, I knew that I had to do an episode about Family Fun Nights!
Family Fun Night is a special time once a week where you do special things together as a family.
Here are 5 different activities you could do for your next Family Fun Night:
And because every good idea needs a plan to make it actually happen… start thinking about when you could have your family night or even a family day! You can do your family activities during the morning or afternoon if that works better!
Family Dinner Table Game - "10 Things I Love About"
There’s actually a lot of benefits to eating together as a family, more than just enjoying something tasty!
Did you know that when you regularly sit down at the table and eat together kids do better in school, feel happier, feel more confident, and feel more connected to your family!? How amazing is that!!
So here’s a fun game for you to try tonight when it’s dinner time. This game is called 10 Things I Love About…. Everyone will get a turn choosing a topic and then you’ll go around the table coming up with 10 things you love about the topic!
I saw this idea on Karacreates.com and I LOVED it! She’s got a few more ideas for dinner time fun too. Here's a link to her blog post https://karacreates.com/fun-games-play-dinner-table/
I would appreciate it so much if you took a couple of minutes to leave a rating and review. Ratings and Reviews help the show grow and helps new listeners find the show. And it helps me to know what you like so I can continue creating content that you and your kids will love!

Affirmations For Kids
What I think would have helped me out when I was younger was having a few key phrases to say to myself whenever I felt like I couldn’t do something. If I had practiced the habit of giving myself a personal pep rally, then maybe I would’ve felt like a more confident student.
I think it’s worth a shot for you to try these affirmations with your kids this year! Why not?!
Here are 5 short sentences kids can memorize to give themselves a little pep talk whenever they need it:
I've put together a full list of affirmations for you to download as well as included some suggestions on ways to implement these affirmations at home on alongfortheride.info! Click here to check them out https://www.alongfortheride.info/blog/the-first-days-of-school
Kids Car Ride Listening Game
The featured we play during this episode is called Listen for the Sound! Here’s how it works. I play a sound and then everyone will try to guess what it is. Kids can say their answers out loud after hearing the sound effect. After 5 sounds, I’ll reveal what the sounds are and we’ll see if you guessed them correctly!
Kid to Kid Advice for the First Day of School
We all benefit from listening to good advice! I asked the Along For The Ride community on Instagram to ask their school aged kids if they had any advice for other kids as they start back to school. I love what they had to say!
I’ve seen so much enthusiasm and excitement on my Instagram and Facebook feeds about kids in my hometown starting school and it’s such a thrilling time. I hope that your kids have the best school year ever!

This episode is all about turning something not so enjoyable into something fun! We are talking about things to do in the car when you’re stuck in traffic.
But don’t worry, you don’t have to be stuck in traffic to listen, play along, and enjoy this episode. It’s for now AND it's something you can pull out later when you might need it.
In this episode we’re going to play a fun game where you will get to choose between 2 options, I’m sharing a big list of activities you can do in the car while you’re stuck in traffic, and then we’ll end our time together with another closing game that is going to have everyone thinking and talking about things that they LOVE!
Featured Family Car Game - What’s Better?
Our first activity today is a game called What’s Better. This is a new game for Along For The Ride and I’m excited to introduce it to you.
Here’s how it works. I’ll ask a “Whats better” type of question and you will say your answer out loud! So if I say, “Whats better…. Potato Chips or Tortilla Chips?” you would say your answer out loud. And side note - potato chips are definitely better. Don’t try to fight me on that.
This is a great game to play anywhere at any time, but I’m sure this one would be especially good for when you’re stuck in traffic!
10 Activities For When You’re Stuck In Traffic With Kids
I've put together the Along For The Ride Official List of Games and Activities for when you’re stuck in traffic.

Car Game For Kids - “Just A Minute”
This game is called “Just a Minute.” This game needs at least 2 players.
Here’s how it works: A topic will be selected for the player whose turn it is. Then, that player has to speak about the topic for 1 whole minute.
Parents, you help by picking fun topics that you know everyone would have fun talking about!
I know you’ll enjoy this episode! Send me a DM on Instagram (@aftr_kidspodcast) and let me know your favorite segment!

Today we are celebrating all of the glorious summer food! The warm summer season gives us so many special and delicious foods that it’s worth talking about it for a whole episode.
I’ve put together a killer Car Ride Conversation Guide for you to check out before your next vacation! It’s a pre-filled out list of questions, activities, and fun conversation topics that everyone will LOVE. Download your free copy here - https://www.alongfortheride.info/activities
Our big game today is an Along For The Ride favorite – Food Fan! And then we’re going to talk about our favorite summer foods that we like to eat, do a quick round of "Oh Yeah No Way" where everyone will get to weigh in on some summer food opinions, and we’ll end our episode with a send off game I call Fast Food Fantasy that I know everyone is going to enjoy!
Featured Game 1 - Food Fan
Here’s how this game works - I’m going to tell you to name a certain type of food and then you respond with an answer.
Like most of the games we play here on Along for the Ride, you only have a short period of time to answer, so you have to think quick! I’ll say something like, “name a food that is spicy” and then you’ll only have a few seconds to think of your answer. You could say something like “Chili Peppers” or “Nashville Hot Chicken!”
Conversation - Favorite Summer Foods and MemoriesLet's take a minute to talk as a group about what kinds of foods you like to eat in the summer. And let's plan a hypothetical party where we'll serve all of our favorite summer food!
Featured Game 2 - Oh Yeah! No Way!Oh Yeah! NO Way! is this ultimate game of opinions! I’ll make a statement and if you like or agree with what I’m saying, then you say OH YEAH and if you don’t like or don’t agree with what I’m saying, you so NO WAY. This one is always a fun one!
Send Off Activity - Fast Food Fantasy Imagination Game
I want you to think about all of your favorite foods from fast food restaurants - Chick-fil-a, Mcdonalds, Wendys, Burger King, Taco Bell, all the places! I want you to create your ultimate imaginary fast food meal. Put your favorite items together like - chicken nuggets from Chick-fil-a with McDonalds fries. You guys have fun putting your ultimate fast food meals together! I’d love for you to share this episode with a friend so that they can experience all the fun too! You can share the episode right from the podcast app. Just click the share button and then text it to a fellow parent friend! I know they’d appreciate it!

Thank you for listening to Along For The Ride!
I love to try new things and today I am doing something new. This is our very first Along For The Ride episode created for Preschoolers!
During this episode we are playing a category game called Name 5, the kiddos will help me write a silly story, and I’ll set you up for a hilarious game to play after the show is over.
I’m sure you already know this, but preschoolers are the life of the party! They are funny, silly, loud, and always ready to have fun. A vast majority of Along For The Ride listeners have preschool aged kiddos, so I wanted to create something that I think they would like to listen to!
Featured Game 1: Name 5How to play: I'll give a topic or category (ex. Colors) and the kids will think of 5 different things that go in that category (ex. 5 colors - orange, blue, red, yellow, and green). Parents, you help the players keep up with how many different items they come up with each round! There are 20 seconds between each round to give plenty of time to think of answers.
Featured Game 2: Fill in the Blank StoryI need help filling in the details of a story that I'm working on. Listen to this paragraph and fill in the blanks when you hear the special sound.
Send Off Game: What Did You Think I'd Say?I think that it would be a fun idea to ask some questions and see if we can guess what everyone's answers are! We may think we know what kids will say, or what our mom or dad would say, BUT you just never know!
This game is like the newlywed game. Everyone playing is going to try to see if they can guess what the designated player's answers are!
Find the list of questions to ask here --> https://www.alongfortheride.info/blog-main/26-our-first-preschool-episode
This could be a really fun game to play when you’re sitting down at the dinner table, riding in the car, or waiting for the big game to start at the ballpark or field!

This episode is all about the beach! If you think it would be funny to draw with your opposite hand, you like a good joke, and love playing in the ocean you’re going to love this episode! Cowabunga dudes, let's talk about the beach!
Full Shownotes - https://www.alongfortheride.info/24
This episode is jam packed full of fun. We’re playing a drawing game (don’t worry if you’re not great at drawing. I’m not good at it either!), having a fun talk about our 5 senses and what we experience at the beach, and I’ve got some jokes that I think you’re going to like at the end of the episode!
Everything is beach themed so put your sunglasses on and pretend like your feet are covered in sand. Surfs up dudes!
Episode Game - Now Switch Hands Drawing GameFor this game, you're going to need a couple of pieces of clean paper and a writing utensil. Your paper can be a piece of paper from a notebook or the back of a handout or flyer. For your writing utensil, you can use a pencil or a crayon.
Here's how it works: I will give you instructions for something to write or draw. Make sure that you're paying attention because I'll call out, "Now Switch Hands!" and you have to switch hands and keep drawing or writing. That means if you started working with your right hand, then you have to switch to working with your left hand! Or if you started working with your left hand then you have to switch to working with your right hand. If you finish a prompt before I give the signal to move on, just start over and keep on going!
Conversation Activity - Engaging The 5 Senses At The Beach
Did you know that when you engage your 5 senses you have even more fun!! When you are aware of what you’re smelling, seeing, hearing, tasting, touching, and smelling you are not only learning more about the world, but you will remember things more clearly. Isn’t that neat!?
With that in mind, I wanted to talk with you about all of the best things to do at the beach and our 5 senses!
Just For Fun - Beach Jokes!I want to share some of my favorite beach jokes with you today! These jokes will shore-ly have you all laughing because they are shell-arious!

This episode is all about how much fun we can have playing outside! We’re talking about things to do, why it’s good for us to play outside, and everyone will have the chance to think about and talk about something special that they would like to do when playing outside together!
If you like getting dirty, running around, or making art – this episode is for you!
Playing outside is one of the best parts about being a kid.
Now, we’ve got the obvious playing outside activities - riding bikes, roller blading, riding scooters, playing basketball in the driveway, but I want us to talk about other things we can do to have fun outside! See some specific ideas on alongfortheride.info,
Did you know that playing outside is good for you?
Yeah, it’s one of the healthiest choices you can make for yourself!
You’re using your brain and imagination to come up with things to do.
You’re improving your overall coordination by climbing and exploring.
You’re getting stronger. Think about how your whole body is involved when you’re swinging or riding a scooter!
The truth is kids need time outside and when you make special time to all be outside together, it's not only good for the kids, but good for EVERYONE!
Also, something you might not know is that being outside in the sunshine can improve your mood! Isn’t that fascinating? So if you find yourself not in the best mood or mental space, go outside and take a walk or play!
When you get home, maybe when you’re eating dinner together tonight, talk about what you’re excited to do outside and make a plan for when you can all go do something together.

Here is a special Thanksgiving-themed episode for you this week! We're playing 2 Thanksgiving games - "Oh Yeah No Way" and a Thanksgiving Trivia game! We're also discussing specific ways that kids can show gratitude in their actions during your family Thanksgiving Day festivities. We hope you enjoy this episode!
Happy Thanksgiving Week! I thought it would be a fun idea to do a special episode for the week of Thanksgiving! I hope that you’re listening as you are driving to a family member’s house. Or maybe you’re doing a destination Thanksgiving celebration!
Whatever you’re doing or wherever you’re going, I’m glad that you’re listening! Along For the Ride is all about having fun and making memories as a family. We can do that in the car!
Kids Car Game - Oh Yeah! No Way!
For our main game today, we’re going to play Oh Yeah! No Way! How this works is that I’ll read out something Thanksgiving-related and you’ll share your reaction. “Oh Yeah” if you like it, “Oh No” if you don’t like it. Easy right?!
4 Ways Kids Can Help on Thanksgiving
In episode 17, we talked about showing our gratitude and what that means. If you have some extra time, go listen to that episode for a springboard into a gratitude discussion! In the previous episode, we talked about saying what we’re grateful for out loud.
This week we’re going to talk about actions you can take to show gratitude. The actions we take can show our gratitude.
Here are some suggestions that kids can do before, during, and after your Thanksgiving meal to show their gratitude:
I believe that small actions can make big impacts.
Kids Car Game - Thanksgiving True or False
I’ve got one more activity for us before we wrap today’s episode. Let’s play a good ole fashioned game of True or False. I’ll share a statement and you’ll say out loud whether you think that statement is true or false. Easy enough! Here we go!
Answers key available at Alongfortheride.info
And there you have it! Some random and intriguing Thanksgiving trivia to impress your friends with! I got this info from BestLifeOnline.com. Check it out if you want to read more interesting facts!
That’s it for our show today! Thank you so much for listening! I hope that you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family. I am so grateful for friends like you!
During this episode, we’re going to play a game that will challenge us to listen and pay close attention! It’s all about repeating patterns. We’re also discussing gratitude as we prepare for Thanksgiving next week!
Hello everyone!! I’m JJ and I’m just thrilled to bring you another episode of the Along for the Ride Podcast! It’s our mission to help families have fun and make memories while riding in the car! I believe that there is always an opportunity to have fun and that things are more enjoyable when we look up and play together!
Kids Car Game - Pattern Replication
I’ve got a brand new game for us that’s going to test your memory. Let’s see just how well you can repeat a given pattern. I’m calling this game Repeat After Me. We will play a few different rounds where I’ll give you a pattern and you’ll repeat it back. It might be words. It might be sounds. It might be numbers. It might be claps or stomps! You’ll have to pay close attention so you can get it right.
Also, try to do it exactly as I do. If I clap softly, you clap softly.
Here’s an example. If I say, “Apple Pie. Pumpkin Bread. Bonfire. Fried Turkey. Gobble Gobble” then you would say, “Apple Pie. Pumpkin Bread. Bonfire. Fried Turkey. Gobble Gobble” Easy, right? You can tell that I’ve got Thanksgiving on my mind!
I think this was one of my favorite games! Thank you so much for playing along! You can play this game anywhere. The next time you’re out and about and need an activity to pass the time, play this game with your friends and take turns making up the patterns!
Talking about Gratitude with KidsThis episode is airing the week before Thanksgiving. This is one of the most special times of the year! You’ve got a break from school coming, you’re making your Christmas lists, maybe your family is like mine and you’ve already got your Christmas decorations out! With all the excitement of December coming, I want to encourage you to not miss out on the joy and the meaning of Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving is all about gratitude. Gratitude is being thankful for the things that you have - a place to live, food on the table, clothes to wear. How can you show gratitude to the people you love? What are some things you can do or say?
Can you think of something right now? Say it out loud!
Gratitude also comes out in our attitude. When you think about what you are grateful for, it is an instant mood lifter! The next time you feel angry or sad, think about the things you are most grateful for. List them out in your mind or on a piece of paper. Just see what happens!
You can even make a game out of it! Try to see how many things you can say that you are grateful for! And by the way, we can show gratitude all year, not just on Thanksgiving!
Hey Parents, I found an interesting article on VeryWellMind.Com on how to teach gratitude to kids. It gives easy ideas on how we can show and teach gratitude to our kids!
The Along for the Ride show is a special experience that focuses on families having fun together and making memories. We all play games together, talk about important family things like holiday traditions, and give special attention to answering silly sometimes serious questions.
Here's what you can expect from this episode of the podcast. We're all going to play an Alphabet Letter Game where we try to name as many words as we can during a short amount of time, talk about why leaves fall off trees, and play a bonus round of “Would You Rather” at the end of the episode!
I just love playing Would You Rather! It's such a silly game, but it really makes you think! I'm sure we'll be playing Would You Rather a lot here on Along for the Ride. If you have a Would You Rather question that you'd like to hear on our show, adults can head over to the Along for the Ride Facebook Page or Instagram and submit your questions!
Thanks for listening to episode 16! Hope you enjoyed it!
This food-themed episode will have your mouth watering as we play a delicious game called Food Fan. We'll be naming our favorite special Autumn season foods and then discuss Family Traditions in the Holiday Season.
A lot of people's family traditions involve food, so I thought it would be fun to combine the two on this episode!
You can view all of the Food Fan prompts and ideas for new Family Traditions on Alongfortheride.info
If you enjoy the show, please consider leaving a rating and review wherever you listen to podcasts. It would just make my day! Thanks for listening to Along for the Ride!
Episode 14 of Along for the Ride is all about Creativity! Together we'll draw a fun fall-themed picture (kids will need something to draw on and draw with), discuss ideas for Spooky Halloween-themed crafts to do together, and end our time with some riddles.
Today's game is going to require something that you can draw on like a piece of paper in a notebook, the back of a flyer, or whatever you have on hand! You’ll also need a writing utensil, like a pen, pencil, marker, or crayon. Because, this is a drawing game, the driver cannot play along with us. You've got the most important job and that's getting us to where we need to be safely.
Before you start the drawing game, I believe that everyone is creative. We all have unique gifts and talents that help us see the world in different and creative ways.
With Halloween coming up at the end of this month, I thought we could talk through some Spooky Craft ideas for you and your family to do together. These are not elaborate crafts, but simple and fun things to make with things you most likely already have on hand. I think making time and space to do crafts is one of the most fun and creative things you can do. What you make is an expression of fun and your own creativity.
