If you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way

When I look at a few things, I have done such as volunteering at a blood donation camp, bringing joy to the elderly at the old age home, or providing training to my students, all these are small things. But somehow, I have realized that although they may be small, I did them all in a great way.

Is it only the big steps that indicate we are on a pathway to success? No, it is not. Small things can have huge effects on our lives. Small achievements are more important because they help us build resilience and commitment. Most of our plans fail and goals are unaccomplished because we often think in terms of huge and big steps. We tend to forget that the small things when done in a great way are much more doable and build our confidence.

Yes, I may have big achievements but, that doesn’t mean I need to forget about the small accomplishments I make every day. Because they are the ones that, in a subtle way, keep on pushing me towards my goal inch by inch.

So, I don’t feel discouraged or demotivated if I’m not able to fulfill my biggest dream in the first attempt. For sure failing, sometimes breaks my spirits, and pulls me down. But then I think there is always a way out. There is always a next time. I start afresh by taking small steps that will lead me toward my major goal. And I know, I will eventually reach my goal step by step regardless of how small the steps are, I will keep working towards it.

Let us work hard to achieve those small things. After that, when we discover that we have made a lot of small achievements, these small things when accumulated are likely to get a significant result.

Everything and each person you look up to and admire today started from somewhere, or maybe nowhere. Not everyone has or will make a huge impact on the world. But if each one of us, could do what we can do, no matter how small it is, even if it’s a “small” step, if it is a positive step, if it is in the right direction, it will create an impact

It is all about beginning with small things, taking each step with full focus, and tenacity. Doing the small things with consistency and perfection is the key to success.

The problem with us is we usually concentrate only on big things and believe they are the only things that matter. I read it somewhere, “Great achievements are the result of a series of small efforts brought together.”

We need to focus on small things and work hard on them, each and every day. By doing those well, they will grow into something extraordinary that we might have not even imagined at the beginning.

So don’t get disappointed if you fail to achieve your big goal at the first instance, because if you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way.

Rejection is an opportunity for selection

Imagine living a life that is easy, uneventful, and full of acceptance. Where there is no fear of challenges, rejections, or failures. Doesn’t it sound like a comfort zone? Understand there is no growth in the comfort zone and there is no comfort in the growth zone. A soul can be strengthened only when it passes through the hardships, adversities, trials pains, and rejections. Being comfortable each day will not help you develop courage strength and confidence. They are developed only when you rise above the adversities, face the hardships and rise above rejections.

Many spiritual gurus will hate me, for saying this. “When you feel rejected, it is necessary to allow yourself to feel the pain of rejection.” People will tell you not to internalize that negative feeling, that sting of the setback. But I want you to feel it. Give a title to your rejection, and recognize your disappointment. Acknowledge the feeling. Why am I asking you to do so?

When you are acknowledging the feeling, you put all your efforts into finding the shortcomings, the flaws, the reasons, the loopholes for the rejection and failure. Don’t you think when you do so, you are moving a step ahead on the road of self-improvement? Now you will work on your shortcomings even harder. As you want to defeat this newfound enemy of yours. Rejection is an opportunity to reflect upon the exact reason or the seriousness of the mistakes which resulted in the failure. Use that reflection to understand what you could have done better so that you don’t repeat them again. Use that understanding the next time you take on a similar challenge. It makes your actions and decisions better and stronger. “It’s not important how hard you hit the bottom, it’s important how high you bounce back.”

Remember, a NO is not a dead end. In fact, NO is the Next Opportunity. Every rejection is an opportunity for your selection.

Ask and it shall be given to you!

Seek and you shall find it

Knock and it shall be open to you.

Says the bible.

Imagination is one of the greatest human powers. Everything great invented in this world finds its roots in necessity. Everything on this planet exists due to necessity, be it natural or manmade. Plants are created to give oxygen and habitat. The bulb was created to give light. Even the apple creations are there to make technology easy. But that invention cannot become real without imagination. Imagination is the blueprint of creation. It is the path the road you need to travel and the vehicle you need to take to reach your destination.

*years back when I was humiliated by one of my family members for being good for nothing. I got the biggest jilt of my life. Because at that time actually, I was good for nothing. I was seeking my worth through others’ validation. It was clear that I was deriving my confidence from what others thought about me.

So, I decided to do something to prove my worth. What would I do, how would I do I had no idea. all I had was imagination. I imagined myself as a strong influential and powerful trainer. That imagination n was the seed of the plant standing in front of you. I nurtured that seed with my hard work, conviction, and tenacity. I reached out to people for guidance, I joined several self-improvement classes, and I read scores of self-upgrading books. I knocked on the doors of parents, who trusted me and gave me the reins of their kids. From there my journey as an English trainer began. And then there was no looking back so the journey of this to good for nothing to a trainer who has helped thousands of people to hone their communication skills, a TEDx speaker, an instructor, and an upcoming author started with imagination.

There is no limit to human imagination. And that which can be imagined can be given life through action. Everything you can imagine can be turned into a tangible reality with consistent actions. So act today. Because everything you can imagine is real.

Do you want to be successful? By the way, what is the definition of success money, family, respect, fame, relationships, education? All this is what you wish for what you hope for yourself in the future.

You know you want to be successful and for that, you work with patience, determination, hard work, and consistency. Still, you face challenges, you fail, you fall you are trampled by rejections and humiliations. We become hopeless. There is a strong bond between success and hopelessness. They are the best of enemies. If you lose hope or do not hope for a better and more successful future, everything will come to a halt. You will be stalled in your journey to success.

Nature is the biggest teacher. Take the example of a female giraffe. Giraffes give birth while standing tall. When she delivers the baby, the baby falls to the ground with a loud thud from that great height. That very moment, when the baby giraffe is trying to understand, where has he landed, the mother giraffe stands over the baby and kicks him hard. The baby giraffe falls at a distance and tries to gather his senses. While he is still in a fog, the mother stands over him again and gives him another hard kick. The baby by now understands that I will keep on getting kicked if I don’t take any action. He tries his best to stand up on his weak and wobbly legs. Again, the mother kicks him hard, again the baby falls down. But by now he understands that I not only need to stand but run to save myself from being licked over and again. The baby giraffe puts all his efforts into running swiftly. At that moment the mother comes and licks the baby and embraces it with all the love and affection.

A mother giraffe is well aware of the beasts of the jungle, who relish the juicy flesh of newborns. The mother giraffe can’t stay with the giraffe all the way. Who will protect the baby in her absence? Therefore, as soon as the baby is born it kicks the baby so that he stands on his feet. She kicks it again so that he remembers he has to stand. She kicks it the third time so that, he not only rises but starts running.

Life will throw challenges at you. You will succumb to failures. Whenever you are broken down, stand up, and have faith in life. Don’t lose hope. Rise up, stand up, run towards your goal, and run against all odds. Reach the pinnacle of success. Because if you will not hope, you will not find what is beyond hope.

"Life is not about finding yourself, it's about creating yourself"

Most of the time, we are trying to find the true purpose of our life. who are we? Why are we sent to this planet? the truth is, life is not about finding yourself. It's all about discovering your capabilities in difficult times. It's about how you see the challenges? How do you utilize the difficult times to learn and grow? The problems of life improve you and help you grow, physically, mentally, and spiritually.

With every new challenge, you are creating yourself. It's not just important to get up when life knocks you down. It's even more important how you give it back to life. How you carve and chisel yourself with every new learning and experience that life gives you.

Every habit you form, every choice you make, and every decision you take, form you into what you are today and will be in the future.

Let's say, life poses a challenge of poor health to you. You suddenly come across some severe health issue. It's you who will form the new habits. Maybe, the new eating habits, new exercise routines. Along with what habit you form, how consistently you follow these habits is the thing that is going to bring a gift of good health to you.

Let's consider you face some issues in business. You need to take some strong decisions. It's not just about finding what you decide, it's also about how well you implement those decisions so that they help not only you and your company but they are also in consideration with your employees. so, it's all about creating yourself even in the most precarious situation.

Sometimes life puts you in a perilous situation. Where you have to make difficult choices. You need to choose among the things, you are unhappy with, accepting them or trying to change them. It's not important, what you do? Why you do? It's vital how you do it? How do you bring a change in yourself? How do you rise above the situation and make the best of the choice you have made?

With every choice you make, every challenge you face, each and every step you take to handle, and each difficult moment of your life you create the person you see in the mirror each day. Keep learning from your experiences and keep making the choices that help create the person you aspire to be. Let not the circumstances make the decisions of your life because "life is not about finding yourself, it's bout creating yourself"

How many times have you come across a situation, when you are just thinking a lot about HOW TO SAY SOMETHING IN ENGLISH?. But actually, you can say absolutely nothing. All the grammar tenses, verbs, conjugations, words, and phrases are flustering your mind and the information overload blocks your functional memory.

You may have never given it specific attention, but the major cause of this problem is the PREPARATION. Whenever we have to say something in English, instead of speaking it aloud spontaneously, we end up preparing our speech in our conscious mind. What happens is, the more time you take to think about how to respond or how to say something in English, the more options you have to choose from, and as a result information overload increases.

Following this, you suffer from three things

  1. Lack of quick decision making

  2. Fear of making mistakes and

  3. Perfection paralysis

Let us understand, WHY is this happening and find a solution to it.

I remember when I analyzed everything, whatever I read or heard, from a grammatical perspective, and I don’t feel shy to mention that this was the core reason I couldn’t speak English fluently. My mind was following a permanent analytical regime, and I lived under a false impression that, when I become a master in English grammar, I would be able to speak English fluently. So, I did all I could to improve my grammar, read books, solved grammar exercises, and watched YouTube videos related to all the grammar perspectives. Then one day I got a chance to talk with someone in English, and you know what? I still spoke very poorly. I wanted to say something, it was in my head but I couldn't get the words and when I finally managed to speak, I felt that I was making a lot of grammatical errors. Despite studying so much grammar my spoken English was still poor.

WHY?

We have accepted and relish Western food, for instance, Chinese, Italian. We have also adopted western clothing, for example, Jeans, coats- suits, as if they were always a part of our Indian culture itself. Why is it that we are still apprehensive about English speaking? We still feel hesitant, afraid, uncomfortable, less confident, when it comes to using this language in our day-to-day lives.

Usage of the English language in India is not so new. In 1835, Raja Ram Mohun Roy's idea of English education in India became an official policy, and the foundation of the kind of ‘New India’ was laid. Lord William Bentinck, the then Governor-General of British East India Company passed the legislative Act of the council of India- the English Education Act 1835. Under this act, financial support was given to the establishments teaching a western curriculum, with English as the language of instruction. Measures were taken to promote English as the language of administration and of the higher law Courts. This made English one of the languages of India, rather than simply the native language of its foreign rulers.
