The Eurovision Song Contest 2024 is the 68th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It is scheduled to take place in Malmö, Sweden, following the country’s victory at the 2023 contest with the song “Tattoo” by Loreen. It is the third time that Malmö has hosted the contest.

Nemo’s 2015 EP Clownfisch reached number 95 in the Swiss charts. In 2017, Nemo released a single “Du”, which reached number 4 in Switzerland. On the second season of The Masked Singer Switzerland in 2021/2022, Nemo was unmasked as a panda and finished in fifth place.

On 29 February 2024, Nemo was announced as the Swiss representative in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 with the song “The Code”, and is scheduled to perform in the second semi-final of the contest, on 9 May.

This Weeks HighlightsHera Björk2024 Contest ContenderHera Björk Þórhallsdóttir is an Icelandic singer who represented Iceland in 2010 with the song 'Je ne sais quoi', where she finished 19th. She won Söngvakeppnin 2024, the Icelandic national final for Eurovision, with the song 'Við förum hærra'/'Scared of Heights' and is set to represent Iceland for a second time.

Ladaniva2024 Contest ContenderLadaniva is a French-Armenian world music group originally from Lille. The duo consists of Armenian singer Jaklin Baghdasaryan and French multi-instrumentalist Louis Thomas. They are set to represent Armenia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 with the song 'Jako'.

Sweden has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 62 times since making its debut in 1958, missing only three contests since then (1964, 1970 and 1976). Since 1959, the Swedish entry has been chosen through an annual televised competition, known since 1967 as Melodifestivalen. At the 1997 contest, Sweden was one of the first five countries to adopt televoting. Sweden has hosted the contest six times: three times in Stockholm (1975, 2000, 2016), twice in Malmö (1992, 2013) and once in Gothenburg (1985); and is set to host for a seventh time in 2024 in Malmö.

Sweden, along with Ireland, is the most successful country in the Eurovision Song Contest, with a total of seven victories. Sweden also has the most top five results of the 21st century, with 13; in total, Sweden has achieved 26 top five results in the contest. After finishing second with Lill Lindfors and Svante Thuresson in 1966, Sweden went on to achieve its seven victories with ABBA (1974), Herreys (1984), Carola (1991), Charlotte Nilsson (1999), Loreen (2012 and 2023) and Måns Zelmerlöw (2015).

Lundvik also has a singing and songwriter career having composed songs for films and the Wedding of Victoria, Crown Princess of Sweden, and Daniel Westling in 2010.

In 2018, he competed in Melodifestivalen with his song “My Turn”, finishing in third place.
He then participated again in Melodifestivalen 2019 with the song “Too Late for Love”, where he advanced directly to the final. Upon winning he went on to represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, finishing in fifth place. In the same contest, he represented the United Kingdom as one of the songwriters of “Bigger than Us” performed by Michael Rice, which finished in 26th place (last).

This Weeks HighlightsMarcus & Martinus2024 Contest ContenderMarcus & Martinus are a Norwegian dance-pop duo consisting of identical twin brothers Marcus and Martinus Gunnarsen. Since winning Melodi Grand Prix Junior in 2012, they have won numerous prizes and participated in Melodifestivalen in 2023 and 2024. They won the latter and will represent host nation Sweden in Malmö with the song 'Unforgettable'.

Eden Golan2024 Contest ContenderMarina Satti is a Greek singer, songwriter, actress and music producer. Her music combines traditional Greek, Arab, and Balkan sounds with urban elements, rhythm, and production. She is set to represent Greece at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 with the song 'Zari.'

Armenia has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 15 times since making its debut in 2006, when André became the first participant representing Armenia and was the first singer from the Caucasus region to compete at Eurovision. Armenia has reached the top 10 on seven occasions, with the country’s best result in the contest being two fourth-place finishes, achieved by Sirusho with the song “Qélé, Qélé” (2008), and Aram Mp3 with “Not Alone” (2014). 2011 was the first year that Armenia failed to advance from the semi-final round. This was followed by the country withdrawing from the 2012 contest due to security concerns in the host city, Baku. In 2018 and 2019, Armenia consecutively failed to qualify from the semi-finals for the second and third time respectively.

Both of them performed national, ethnic songs and songs written by A. Grigoryan and Anush. They sang in many cities of Armenia as soloists.

The Arshakyan Sisters were chosen by the Armenian public on 14 February 2009, to represent the country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 to be held in Moscow, Russia, with the song “Jan Jan”. The song won a place in the Eurovision final on 16 May, winning one of ten spots from the first semi final on 12 May. They eventually finished in 10th place with 92 points. Although it was Armenia’s less successful performance in the Eurovision so far (until 2011), it gave the country a fourth successive top ten placing.

He rose to prominence as the lead singer of the pop band Years & Years and is set to represent the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Malmö with his song 'Dizzy', which marked his first release under his own name.

Marina Satti2024 Contest ContenderMarina Satti is a Greek singer, songwriter, actress and music producer. Her music combines traditional Greek, Arab, and Balkan sounds with urban elements, rhythm, and production. She is set to represent Greece at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 with the song 'Zari.'

Luxembourg has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 37 times since its debut at the first contest in 1956. The nation participated in all but one event between 1956 and 1993, only missing the 1959 contest. After finishing among the bottom seven countries in 1993, Luxembourg was relegated and prevented from competing in 1994. The nation did not return to the contest in 1995, and would make no further appearances over the next three decades. The country is set to return to the event for the first time in 31 years in 2024.

With five wins, Luxembourg is one of the contest’s most successful nations, and between 1983 and 1994 the nation jointly held the record for most contest wins by a single country. Luxembourg won the contest in 1961, with the song “Nous les amoureux” performed by Jean-Claude Pascal, in 1965, with the song “Poupée de cire, poupée de son” performed by France Gall, recorded back-to-back wins in 1972 and 1973, when the nation was represented by “Après toi” by Vicky Leandros and “Tu te reconnaîtras” by Anne-Marie David, and most recently in 1983, with the song “Si la vie est cadeau” performed by Corinne Hermès. The contest has been held in Luxembourg four times, in 1962, 1966, 1973 and 1984, all of which took place in Luxembourg City. In addition to its five wins, Luxembourg recorded two third-place finishes in 1962 and 1986, and in total has placed within the top five 13 times and within the top ten 20 times. Luxembourg’s fortunes in the contest changed in later years, with the nation’s last seven appearances resulting in four placements in the bottom five.

The song finished in 20th place with 11 points. This was to be the last entry for the Grand Duchy until 2024.

The band were Luxembourg nationals and were the last of 9 acts to have sung for their country in 37 attempts. They were backed on stage by Patrick Alessi who had provided backing vocals previously at the Eurovision Song Contest 1983 for Luxembourg and was also in the 1996 Belgian national final.

Kaleen2024 Contest ContenderMarie-Sophie Kreissl, also known professionally as Kaleen, is an Austrian singer, dancer and choreographer. She is scheduled to represent Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 with the song 'We Will Rave'.

Albania has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 19 times since its debut in 2004. Festivali i Këngës, a long-standing song contest that takes place every year in Albania since 1962, is used to select the country’s entrant for that year’s Eurovision Song Contest. Albania participated in the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time in 2004 with Anjeza Shahini placing seventh. It remained the country’s highest result in the contest until 2012, when Rona Nishliu finished fifth.

In 2016, she participated in the fifteenth season of American Idol. In 2017, she represented Albania in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “World”, after winning Festivali i Këngës 55. Recognized for her powerful and versatile vocal delivery ranges from screaming to opera singing, Linda has had collaborations with Stevie Wonder in 2013 and Valerie Simpson. She has also opened for the Backstreet Boys.

Luna2024 Contest ContenderAleksandra Katarzyna 'Ola' Wielgomas, known professionally as Luna, is a Polish singer and songwriter. She is set to represent Poland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 with the song 'The Tower'.

Ukraine has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 18 times since making its debut in 2003. The nation has won the contest three times: in 2004 with “Wild Dances” by Ruslana, in 2016 with “1944” by Jamala, and in 2022 with “Stefania” by Kalush Orchestra, thus becoming the first country in the 21st century and the first Eastern European country to win the contest three times. Ukraine hosted the 2005 and 2017 contests in Kyiv.

Since the introduction of the semi-final round in 2004, Ukraine is the only country outside of the “Big Five” to have qualified for the final of every contest they have competed in, and has been placed outside the top-ten only six times. Ukraine has a total of eight top-five placements, with Verka Serduchka (2007) and Ani Lorak (2008) both finishing second, Zlata Ognevich third (2013), Mika Newton fourth (2011) and Go_A fifth (2021), in addition to its wins. The only countries with more top-five results in the 21st century are Sweden (13) and Russia (10). There has been suggestions that Ukraine, Sweden and Italy form a “big 3” of modern Eurovision based on their mostly top 10 results.

They have released four studio albums: The Parts (2018), Disco Lights (2019), 13 Waves (2020) and Road (2020). Winners of the National Selection for Eurovision 2023 and the YUNA Awards in 2021 and 2022.

Tvorchi represented Ukraine in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 with the song “Heart of Steel”, placing sixth in the final with 243 points. Ten minutes before the duo performed at Eurovision, their hometown of Ternopil was hit by a barrage of Russian missiles, injuring two people and damaging warehouses in the city. During the voting window, the group held up a makeshift sign with ‘Ternopil’ written on it.

Natalia Barbu2024 Contest ContenderNatalia Barbu is a Moldovan singer and songwriter. She is best known for representing Moldova in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 with the song 'Fight'. She will again represent the country in 2024 with the song 'In the Middle'.

Austria has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 56 times since its debut in 1957. The country has won twice, in 1966 and 2014, and such it holds the record for the longest gap between consecutive wins — 48 years. The contest is broadcast in Austria by ORF. Vienna was the host city on both of the occasions that the contest was held in Austria, in 1967 and 2015.

Having finished sixth at the 1964 contest and fourth in 1965, Udo Jürgens won at his third attempt in 1966 with the song “Merci, Chérie”. This was Austria’s only top three result of the 20th century. Austria won again in 2014, with Conchita Wurst and “Rise Like a Phoenix”. Austria has finished last in the contest final seven times (1957, 1961, 1962, 1979, 1984, 1988 and 1991) and finished last in the semi-final in 2012. Cesár Sampson achieved Austria’s eighth top five result and second-best result of the 21st century at the 2018 contest, finishing third with the song “Nobody but You”.

Teodora Špirić was born in Vienna to Serbian parents and spent part of her childhood in Kladovo, Serbia, but later returned to Vienna with her family.

The two singers met during their participation in the Austrian talent show Starmania, following which it was announced that the pair would represent Austria in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023. Their entry, named “Who the Hell Is Edgar?”, was written at a songwriting camp in the Czech Republic and was released on 8 March 2023. The song qualified from the second semi final on 11 May for the grand final, in which it placed 15th.

Angelina Mango2024 Contest ContenderAngelina Mango is an Italian singer-songwriter. She won the Sanremo Music Festival 2024 with her song 'La noia', and will represent Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024.

Estonia has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 28 times since making its debut in 1994. Its first appearance would have taken place in 1993 but a qualification round was installed for seven former Eastern Bloc countries hoping to make their debut in the contest, with Estonia failing to qualify. Estonia has won the contest once, in 2001.

Estonia’s first participation in 1994 was unsuccessful, finishing 24th (out of 25). Estonia went on to finish in the top eight in six out of seven contests (1996–2002), with Maarja-Liis Ilus and Ivo Linna fifth (1996), Maarja-Liis Ilus returning to finish eighth (1997), Evelin Samuel and Camille sixth (1999) and Ines fourth (2000), before Tanel Padar, Dave Benton and 2XL gave Estonia its first victory in 2001. This made Estonia the first former Soviet country to win the contest and the second eastern European country to win, after Yugoslavia in 1989. Sahlene then finished third for the hosts in Tallinn in 2002.

Since the introduction of the semi-final round in 2004, Estonia has failed to reach the final on ten occasions and has reached the top ten five times, with Urban Symphony sixth (2009), Ott Lepland sixth (2012), Elina Born and Stig Rästa seventh (2015), Elina Nechayeva eighth (2018) and Alika eighth (2023). Estonia’s total of eleven top ten results is more than any other Baltic country.

He was born and raised in Österåker, Sweden and started playing guitar and writing songs at the age of 15. When he was 18 he moved to Los Angeles and Nashville to write songs with acclaimed artists such as Diane Warren, Desmond Child and Eric Bazilian.

On 16 February 2019, Victor Crone won the Estonian national selection Eesti Laul with the song “Storm” and he received the right to represent Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019, held in Tel Aviv, Israel. On 15 May, he qualified to the final. In the final Victor Crone placed 20th.

This Weeks HighlightsGåte2024 Contest ContenderGåte is a band from Trøndelag, Norway playing Norwegian folk music bred with metal and electronica. The band won Melodi Grand Prix 2024 with the song 'Ulveham' and will represent Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024.

RAFALFan FavouriteRafał Brzozowski is a Polish singer and television presenter. He co-hosted the 2020 Junior Eurovision Song Contest and represented Poland in 2021 in Rotterdam with the song 'The Ride', but failed to qualify to the final, finishing 14th in second semi-final with 35 points.

Romania has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 23 times since its debut in 1994, and has placed in the top ten six times. Its best results were achieved by Luminița Anghel and Sistem in 2005, and by Paula Seling and Ovi in 2010, who both finished in third place. Selecția Națională, a song contest that has been taking place every year in Romania except for 2021, has been used to select the country’s entry for the Eurovision Song Contest.

In 1993, the year before its first appearance, Romania attempted to debut in the contest, but came last in the qualifying round. After successfully joining the following year, poor placements followed until 2002, resulting in several relegations. This changed with the introduction of semi-finals to the contest in 2004, after which Romania reached the final 14 times, failing to qualify from the semi-finals in 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2023, the latter finishing with no points.

Ursu worked as a dancer for artists such as Inna, Antonia or Carla’s Dreams and was part of the Pro TV ballet crew on shows such as Vocea României and Românii au talent.

In 2015, he started his musical career in the boyband Shot. After two years, he left the project, moved to London and began composing music. In February 2022, he released the single “Llámame”, with which he was selected to represent Romania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022.

They are known to mix numerous genres in their music, coining their own term, 'ouija-pop', out of disdain for being put into one genre. Robinson is set to represent Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 after winning the Irish national final Eurosong 2024 with 'Doomsday Blue'.

Christina MetaxaFan FavouriteChristina Metaxa is a Cypriot singer. Her brother Nikolas Metaxas was 2nd in the X-factor. He wrote the song 'Firefly' for her sister, who sang it in the 2009 Eurovision Song Contest. Christina did not have a singing career after Eurovision.

The United Kingdom has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 65 times. It first took part in the second contest in 1957 and has entered every year since 1959. Along with Sweden and the Netherlands, the UK is one of only three countries with Eurovision victories in four different decades. It is one of the “Big Five” countries, along with France, Germany, Italy and Spain, that are automatically prequalified for the final each year as they are the biggest financial contributors to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). The British national broadcaster, the BBC, broadcasts the event and has, on multiple occasions, organised different national selection processes to choose the British entry. The United Kingdom has won the Eurovision Song Contest five times, and has finished as runner-up on a record sixteen occasions. The UK has hosted the contest a record nine times, four times in London (1960, 1963, 1968 and 1977) and once each in Edinburgh (1972), Brighton (1974), Harrogate (1982), Birmingham (1998), and Liverpool (2023).

The United Kingdom’s five winners are Sandie Shaw with the song “Puppet on a String” (1967), Lulu with “Boom Bang-a-Bang” (1969 in a four-way tie), Brotherhood of Man with “Save Your Kisses for Me” (1976), Bucks Fizz with “Making Your Mind Up” (1981) and Katrina and the Waves with “Love Shine a Light” (1997). The UK has also achieved a record sixteen second-place finishes, the first in 1959 and the most recent in 2022.

He rose to prominence after winning season 5 of The Voice: la plus belle voix. He is scheduled to represent France in the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 with the song 'Mon amour'.

Paolo MeneguzziFan FavouritePaolo Meneguzzi is a Swiss Italian singer. He is the son of Loredana Pacchiani and Gomez Meneguzzo and represented his home country Switzerland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with the pop ballad 'Era stupendo'.

Germany has officially participated in every Eurovision Song Contest since its inaugural edition in 1956, except in 1996 when its entry did not qualify past the audio-only pre-selection round, and consequently was not seen in the broadcast final and does not count as one of Germany’s 66 appearances.

No other country has been represented as many times. Along with France, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom, Germany is one of the “Big Five” countries that are automatically prequalified for the final, due to being the largest financial contributors to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).

Germany first won the contest in 1982, when Nicole won with “Ein bißchen Frieden”. The second German victory came 28 years later at the 2010 contest, when Lena won with “Satellite”. Katja Ebstein, who finished third in 1970 and 1971, then second in 1980, is the only performer to have made the top three on three occasions. Germany has a total of 11 top three placements, also finishing second with Lena Valaitis (1981) and twice with the group Wind (1985 and 1987), and finishing third with Mary Roos (1972), Mekado (1994) and Sürpriz (1999). Germany has finished last on ten occasions, receiving nul points in 1964, 1965 and 2015.

In January and February 2012, Lob was a contestant in the German TV show Unser Star für Baku, produced by the German broadcasting stations Pro7 and Das Erste. He is also the lead singer of the band Rooftop Kingdom, an alternative rock band with origins in Neustadt (Wied). He was also a founding member of German Metalcore band, Days of Despite.

On 16 February 2012, he won the show Unser Star für Baku and represented Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012. He achieved eighth place with 110 points in the contest.

ChiaraFan FavouriteChiara Siracusa, better known by her mononym Chiara, is a Maltese singer. She represented her country in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1998, 2005, and 2009 and is with a second and a third place the third most successful participant who never won the contest (behind Germany's Katja Ebstein and Wind).

Finland has participated in Eurovision 56 times since its debut in 1961. Their one, and to date only, win came in 2006 with Lordi’s entry “Hard Rock Hallelujah”. The country’s best result before then was achieved by Marion Rung with the song “Tom Tom Tom” in 1973, which placed sixth.

Finland has finished last in the contest eleven times, receiving nul points in 1963, 1965 and 1982. Since the introduction of the semi-finals in 2004, Finland has failed to reach the final eight times. In 2014, the country had its best result in eight years when Softengine with “Something Better” finished 11th. That result was surpassed by Blind Channel with “Dark Side”, which came sixth in 2021. Then in 2023 Käärijä won the public vote and came second overall in 2023 with “Cha Cha Cha”, Finland’s second best result to date.

The original band members were Lauri Ylönen (founder, frontman, lead singer-songwriter), Eero Heinonen (bass), Pauli Rantasalmi (guitar) and Jarno Lahti (drums). Jarno Lahti left the year after and was replaced by Janne Heiskanen in 1995. Heiskanen quit the band in 1999 and was soon replaced by Aki Hakala. Pauli Rantasalmi left the band and was replaced by guitarist Emilia “Emppu” Suhonen in 2022.

Best known for their 2003 hit single “In the Shadows”, the band has sold 5 million albums worldwide and approximately 350,000 albums in Finland alone. They have won numerous awards, both domestic and international. The band represented Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with the song “Jezebel”.

The RoopFan FavouriteThe Roop are a Lithuanian pop rock band consisting lead vocalist Vaidotas Valiukevičius, percussionist Robertas Baranauskas and guitarist Mantas Banišauskas. They were due to represent Lithuania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with their song 'On Fire' before the contest was cancelled. They then took part in 2021 with 'Discoteque', finishing in eighth place in the final.

Bulgaria has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 14 times since making its debut at the 2005 contest in Kyiv. The country’s best result is a second-place finish for Kristian Kostov and the song “Beautiful Mess” at the 2017 contest also in Kyiv.

Bulgaria has failed to qualify for the final in 9 out of 14 appearances at the contest, most narrowly in 2012, when Sofi Marinova lost out on the 10th qualifying place from the second semi-final in a tie-break with Norway. However, on three of the five occasions that they have reached the final, they have finished in the top five: placing fifth with Elitsa and Stoyan in 2007, fourth with Poli Genova in 2016 and second with Kristian Kostov in 2017. In Bulgaria’s two most recent final appearances, supergroup Equinox placed 14th in 2018 and Victoria placed 11th in 2021.

She later went on to represent Bulgaria in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 with the song “Na inat”, which did not qualify for the final. She returned to Eurovision five years later in 2016, for the second time representing Bulgaria, with the song “If Love Was a Crime”. That brought Bulgaria to the final for the first time since 2007, placing fourth, which is Bulgaria’s second highest placing ever, behind her successor Kristian Kostov’s 2nd place the following year.

Outside of performing, Genova has also appeared as a coach or mentor on The Voice of Bulgaria and X Factor Bulgaria, voiced the Bulgarian version of Judy Hopps in the film Zootopia, and hosted the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Sofia. She has two children.

Glennis GraceFan FavouriteGlenda Hulita Elisabeth Batta, known professionally as Glennis Grace, is a Dutch singer. In 2005, she represented the Netherlands in the 50th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, and in 2018 she appeared on the 13th season of America's Got Talent and made it to the finals.

Austria has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 55 times since its debut in 1957. The country has won twice, in 1966 and 2014, and such it holds the record for the longest gap between consecutive wins — 48 years. The contest is broadcast in Austria by ORF. Vienna was the host city on both of the occasions that the contest was held in Austria, in 1967 and 2015.

Having finished sixth at the 1964 contest and fourth in 1965, Udo Jürgens won at his third attempt in 1966 with the song “Merci, Chérie”. This was Austria’s only top three result of the 20th century. Austria won again in 2014, with Conchita Wurst and “Rise Like a Phoenix”. Austria has finished last in the contest final seven times (1957, 1961, 1962, 1979, 1984, 1988 and 1991) and finished last in the semi-final in 2012. With her three entries from the German national final Unser Star für Oslo, Meyer-Landrut set an all-time chart record in her home country by debuting with three songs in the top five of the German Singles Chart.

She represented Germany for the second consecutive time in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf with the song “Taken by a Stranger”, finishing in tenth place.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2023 is the 67th edition of the competition, and takes place in Liverpool, United Kingdom on behalf of Ukraine, following the country’s victory at the 2022 contest in Turin, Italy, with the song “Stefania” performed by Kalush Orchestra.

In 2021, Špirić was a participant in the fifth season of the Austrian talent show Starmania. She made it to the top eight contestants, but was eliminated before the final. Later that year, she released the single “Runaway (Stay)” with Croatian singer Ninski, using the stage name Teya.

In 2017, Salena participated in the seventh season of The Voice of Germany, where she reached the dueling rounds. In the show, Samu Haber was her coach. In 2019, she attempted represent Austria at the Eurovision Song Contest with her song “Behind the Waterfall”, but ORF did not select her. In 2021, she competed in the Austrian talent show Starmania, where she reached the top 32 and met Teya.

He won the Sanremo Music Festival in 2013 and again in 2023, therefore representing Italy in Eurovision both years.'

Iru Khechanovi2023 Contest ContenderIrina Khechanovi, known professionally as Iru, is a Georgian singer and songwriter. As a member of the girl group Candy, she won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2011 with the song 'Candy Music'. In 2023, she won the fifth season of The Voice Georgia, therefore winning the right to represent Georgia in the main 2023 Song Contest.

The Czech Republic (Czechia) has participated in Eurovision 10 times since its debut in 2007. After receiving nul points in the 2009 semi-final and due to a lack of interest from the Czech public, broadcaster Česká televize (ČT) withdrew. ČT announced their return in 2015, with an internal selection being used to select their fourth Eurovision entry.

In 2016, Gabriela Gunčíková became the first Czech entrant to reach the final, finishing 25th with the song “I Stand”. After failing to qualify in 2017, Mikolas Josef became the second entrant to reach the final and the first to reach the top ten, placing sixth in 2018 with “Lie to Me”. In 2019, Czech band Lake Malawi finished eleventh, achieving the country’s second best result in the contest. The third best result was achieved in 2022 by the band We Are Domi, finishing 22nd.

Josef decided to pursue music professionally. He independently released his debut single “Hands Bloody” in 2015. The following year, he released the single “Free”, which became a top 15 hit in the Czech Republic. That same year, he also released the single “Believe (Hey Hey)”.

Josef was approached to represent the Czech Republic in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 with the song “My Turn”, but rejected the offer as he did not believe the song suited him. In November 2017, Josef released the single “Lie to Me”, and later confirmed that the song would be competing in the Czech national final for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon.

“Lie to Me” later won the national selection, and represented the Czech Republic in the 2018 contest. It finished in sixth place with 66 points from the juries and 215 points from the audience, giving the Czech Republic its best result so far in the competition. By May 2020, “Lie to Me” reached 30 million streams on Spotify, becoming the most-streamed Czech song on the platform.

Serbia has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 14 times since making its debut in 2007. They previously participated as part of Yugoslavia (both the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia from 1961 to 1991 and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in 1992) and as Serbia and Montenegro (2004–2006).

Serbia won the contest on its debut as an independent country in 2007, with “Molitva” by Marija Šerifović. The country’s other top five results are third place in 2012 with “Nije ljubav stvar” by Željko Joksimović, and fifth place in 2022 with “In corpore sano” by Konstrakta. Serbia’s other top ten results are sixth place (2008) and tenth place (2015).

She had risen to prominence as the lead vocalist of the indie pop band Zemlja gruva!, which was founded in 2007, before pursuing her solo career in 2019.

Konstrakta gained more significant recognition by representing Serbia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy with “In corpore sano”, where she placed 5th out of 40 competing entries.
On the evening of the final, she won the Artistic Marcel Bezençon Award. She also received an award from the Polish media for the most creative entry.

Noa Kirel2023 Contest ContenderNoa Kirel is an Israeli singer, actress, dancer and television host. She won the MTV Europe Music Awards for the best Israeli act between 2017 and 2022 and is set to represent Israel in the 2023 contest with 'Unicorn'.

Montenegro has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 12 times since its debut in 2007. Previously it had participated as part of Yugoslavia (both the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia from 1961 to 1991 and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia in 1992) and as part of Serbia and Montenegro (from 2004 to 2006).

The country competed every year from 2012 to 2019. Despite initially confirming their participation in the 2020 contest and aiming to expand Montevizija, Montenegro ultimately did not enter. The contest was later cancelled as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Broadcaster RTCG later stated that the reason was due to “modest results” and financial issues.

Montenegro also did not participate in the 2021 contest, but returned in 2022, having internally selected Vladana to represent the country with the song “Breathe”. Once again, they failed to qualify for the final, finishing 17th in a field of 18 with 33 points in the second semi-final. RTCG later confirmed its absence from the 2023 contest, citing financial constraints and a lack of interest from sponsors.

The group were selected to represent Montenegro in the 2019 contest after winning the country’s national selection, Montevizija. They performed their entry, “Heaven”, in the first half of the first semi-final in Tel Aviv where they failed to qualify for the final. The group’s name was originally spelt D-Moll but in early March 2019 it was confirmed as D mol.

Pasha Parfeni2023 Contest ContenderPavel Parfeni, known professionally as Pasha Parfeny, is a Moldovan musician, singer and songwriter. He represented Moldova at the 2012 contest in Baku and was formerly the lead singer of SunStroke Project. He is set to represent Moldova again in 2023 with the song 'Soarele și luna'.

France has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 64 times since its debut at the first contest in 1956. France is one of only seven countries to be present at the first contest, and has been absent from only two contests in its history, missing the 1974 and 1982 contests. Along with Germany, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom, France is one of the “Big Five” countries that are automatically prequalified for the final, due to being the largest financial contributors to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). France has won the contest five times.

France first won the contest in 1958 with “Dors, mon amour” performed by André Claveau. Three more victories followed in the 1960s, with “Tom Pillibi” performed by Jacqueline Boyer in 1960, “Un premier amour” performed by Isabelle Aubret in 1962 and “Un jour, un enfant” performed by Frida Boccara, who won in 1969 in a four-way tie with the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom. France’s fifth victory came in 1977, when Marie Myriam won with the song “L’Oiseau et l’Enfant”. During its successful run in the 20th century, France has also finished second four times, with Paule Desjardins (1957), Catherine Ferry (1976), Joëlle Ursull (1990) and Amina (1991), who lost out to Sweden’s Carola in a tie-break.

After reaching the top five in 24 contests in the 20th century, France has had less success in the 21st century, only making the top five three times, with Natasha St-Pier fourth (2001), Sandrine François fifth (2002) and Barbara Pravi second (2021). France’s other top 10 results in the century are Patricia Kaas’s eighth place in 2009 and Amir’s sixth place in 2016. France finished last for the first time in 2014, when Twin Twin received only two points.

Diridollou, Lavigne and Le Guillou met during their studies at Diwan secondary school in Carhaix, Brittany, where they practised the traditional singing style kan ha diskan. The name “Ahez” comes from Ker Ahez, a popular etymology for the Breton name of Carhaix (Karaez), and Ahes, a Breton mythological figure. The group started performing at fest-noz festivals in 2018, and took part in the 2018 edition of the Inter-Celtic Festival of Lorient with the band Eben.

In the summer of 2021, they met singer and producer Alvan in a bar in Rennes. Together, they participated in Eurovision France, c’est vous qui décidez ! 2022 (“Eurovision France, you decide ! 2022”), the French national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2022, with the song “Fulenn”.
They went on to win the competition, winning both the jury vote and televote.
“Fulenn” was the first Eurovision entry to be sung in Breton since 1996.

Blanka2023 Contest ContenderBlanka Stajkow, known mononymously as Blanka, is a Polish singer and model. She is scheduled to represent Poland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 with the song 'Solo'.

Australia has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest seven times since its debut in 2015. It has been in the top ten four times. It is also the second country outside of the Eurasia region to take part in the contest since Morocco competed in 1980. The country’s best result in the contest is a second-place finish for Dami Im in 2016. Australia also finished in the top ten in three of its other appearances in the contest, with Guy Sebastian finishing fifth in 2015, and both Isaiah and Kate Miller-Heidke finishing ninth in 2017 and 2019.

Initially, Australia’s participation in the 2015 contest was set to be a one-off event, the plan being only to perform again the following year had it won. But it was confirmed in November 2015 by SVT that it would participate in the 2016 contest. Australia’s participation in the contest has been confirmed by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and Special Broadcasting Service (SBS) until 2023.

He represented Australia at the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest, finishing in fifth place.

Sebastian has released ten top ten albums, including three number ones. The first seven all gained either platinum or multi-platinum certification. He has also achieved twenty three top twenty singles, with fourteen reaching the top ten, including six number ones. He is the only Australian male artist in Australian chart history to achieve six number one singles, and places third overall for all Australian acts.

Monika Linkyte2023 Contest ContenderMonika Linkytė is a Lithuanian singer and songwriter. She represented Lithuania in the 2015 contest along with Vaidas Baumila with the song 'This Time', placing 18th. She will represent Lithuania again in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 with the song 'Stay'.

Bosnia and Herzegovina has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 19 times since making its debut in 1993, after coming second in the qualification round “Kvalifikacija za Millstreet”. Prior to 1993, Bosnia and Herzegovina participated in the Eurovision Song Contest as part of Yugoslavia.

Bosnia and Herzegovina’s best result was in 2006, when Hari Mata Hari finished third with the song “Lejla”. This remains the country’s only top five result in the contest. The country also achieved five other top ten results: 1999 with Dino Merlin (7th), 2004 with Deen (9th), 2008 with Laka (10th), 2009 with Regina (9th), and 2011, again with Dino Merlin (6th). Bosnia and Herzegovina returned to the contest for the first time since 2012 at the 2016 contest, where they failed to advance from the semi-finals for the first time. They then withdrew once again from the contest.

Her first single “Nespretno” (Awkwardly) was released in March 2010 and it became big hit in Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as in neighboring countries.

Maya Sar participated on Eurovision as a back vocalist in 2004 and 2011 (both times for the Bosnia and Herzegovina entry). She also played the keyboard on Dino Merlin’s “Love in Rewind” during the semi-finals and finals at the Eurovision Song Contest 2011.

On 15 December 2011 it was confirmed that Maya Sar would represent Bosnia and Herzegovina with the song “Korake ti znam” in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan. The song premiered on 15 March 2012. She progressed from the second semi-final into the grand final where she finished in 18th place.

Let 32023 Contest ContenderLet 3 is a modern rock band from Rijeka, Croatia formed in 1987. The band is known for their original approach to rock music and their obscene live performances. They are set to represent Croatia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 with the song 'Mama ŠČ!'.

Malta has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 34 times since its debut in 1971. The contest is broadcast in Malta on the PBS channel, TVM. Malta has yet to win the contest, but is the only non-winning country to have achieved four top three results.

Malta finished last on its first two attempts in 1971 and 1972, and had a 16-year absence from the contest between 1975 and 1991, when it returned. It has participated every year since. Malta’s return proved more successful, reaching the top 10 in 12 out of 15 contests from 1991 to 2005, including third-place results for Mary Spiteri (1992) and Chiara (1998) and second-place results for Ira Losco (2002) and Chiara (2005). Since finishing last for the third time in 2006, Malta has struggled to make an impact, having achieved only two top 10 results in recent years: first being Gianluca Bezzina’s eighth-place in 2013, and Destiny Chukunyere’s seventh-place finish in 2021.

She was born in Malta into a very wealthy family and approached music from an early age. In 2016 she released her first single “Alone” on her YouTube channel and later in 2017 released her second single “Without You”.

Muscat submitted a song to take part in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in February 2022.
The song “Out of Sight” won the contest with a total of 92 points, therefore gaining the right to represent her country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 in Turin, Italy. She later changed the entry for a new song titled “I Am What I Am” which was performed in the second semi-final of the contest.
It failed to qualify for the final, finishing in 16th place as Malta’s eighth non-qualification in the contest.

Dolic would have represented Germany in the 2020 Contest with the song 'Violent Thing', but it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Albania has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 18 times since its debut in 2004. Festivali i Këngës, a long-standing song contest that takes place every year in Albania since 1962, is used to select the country’s entrant for that year’s Eurovision Song Contest. Albania participated in the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time in 2004 with Anjeza Shahini placing seventh. It remained the country’s highest result in the contest until 2012, when Rona Nishliu finished fifth.

After a hiatus, Tarifa returned to Festivali i Këngës in 2015 with the song “Përrallë”. She went on to win the competition, representing Albania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm, Sweden.
She performed her song in the second semi-final of the competition, but didn’t make it to the final.

In 2018, she was a judge on The Voice Kids Albania 2 with Ledion Liço being the host and the other judges being Miriam Cani and Aleksandër & Renis Gjoka (duo).
In January 2019 announced that she will present the second season of Top Talent in Top Channel.

SenhitFan FavouriteSenhit Zadik Zadik, known professionally as simply Senhit is an Italian singer. She represented San Marino in 2011 with 'Stand By', but failed to qualify for the final. She would have represented it again in 2020 with 'Freaky!', but the contest was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, she performed in 2021 with the song 'Adrenalina', qualifying for the final.

Spain has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 61 times since making its debut in 1961. Since 1999, Spain has been one of the “Big Five” countries, along with France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom. They are automatically prequalified for the final each year as they are the biggest financial contributors to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). Spain has competed in the contest continuously since the country’s debut in 1961. The only country with a longer run of uninterrupted Eurovision appearances is the United Kingdom, ever-present since 1959.

Spain has won the contest twice, first in 1968 with the song “La, la, la” sung by Massiel and again in 1969, when Salomé’s “Vivo cantando” was involved in a four-way tie with France, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. The 1969 contest in Madrid is the only time Spain has hosted the event, since lots were drawn after 1969’s four-way tie and the 1970 contest was hosted by the Netherlands.

Since the start of the 21st century, Spain has reached the top 10 seven times, with David Civera (2001) finishing 6th, Rosa (2002) finishing 7th, Beth (2003) finishing 8th, Ramón (2004) finishing 10th, both Pastora Soler (2012) and Ruth Lorenzo (2014) also finishing 10th, and Chanel (2022) finishing 3rd. Spain has also failed to reach the top 20 in 10 of the last 17 contests, including for six consecutive contests (2015–21). Spain is the current participating country with the longest active victory drought, with a total of 53 years (1969–2022).

He was going to represent Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam with the song “Universo” but the competition was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. He represented Spain instead in Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with the song “Voy a quedarme”.

Paul Harrington & Charlie McGettiganFan Favourite'Rock 'n' Roll Kids' by Paul Harrington and Charlie McGettigan was the winning song of the Eurovision Song Contest 1994, written by Brendan Graham and performed for Ireland, their sixth overall victory.

North Macedonia, previously presented in the contest as the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (F.Y.R. Macedonia), has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 21 times since its official debut in 1998. The country had attempted to participate in 1996, but failed to qualify from the audio-only qualifying round. The current Head of Delegation is Meri Popova.

Prior to 2019, North Macedonia’s best result was a 12th-place finish with Elena Risteska in 2006. Having qualified from the semi-final round only once in ten of the previous eleven contests (2008–18), North Macedonia achieved its best result to date in 2019, when Tamara Todevska qualified and finished in seventh place in the final after winning the jury vote.

While posting short videos of herself singing famous pop and rock songs, producer Aleksandar Masevski noticed her and offered Andrea the chance to work with him.

In 2022, Andrea was selected to represent North Macedonia after winning the national selection, Za Evrosong 2022. As there was a tie for first place, Andrea was declared the winner as she received maximum points from the international jury. At Eurovision, Andrea performed on 12 May 2022, in the second semi-final. She failed to qualify to the grand final, finishing 11th out of 18 participants.

Israel has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 44 times since making its debut in 1973. Israel was able to enter the contest as the Israel Broadcasting Authority (IBA) was an active member of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which was responsible for the event. The IBA was succeeded as the broadcaster in charge of the Israeli entry by the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation (IPBC/Kan) in 2018. Israel has won the contest four times, and has hosted the contest in Jerusalem twice in 1979 and 1999. Israel hosted the contest for the third time in Tel Aviv in 2019.
Since the introduction of the semi-finals in 2004, Israel has failed to reach the final six times. In 2005, Shiri Maimon gave the country its tenth top five result, finishing fourth. Having failed to qualify for the final for four consecutive years (2011–14), Israel reached the final for the first time in five years, with Nadav Guedj finishing ninth in 2015. The country had participated in the final every year since, including a fourth victory courtesy of Netta with “Toy” in 2018. The qualification streak ended in 2022, when Michael Ben David failed to progress to the final.

On 22 March 2020, it was announced that she had been internally chosen to represent Israel in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021. In January 2021, her three candidate songs were revealed – “Ue La La”, “La La Love” and “Set Me Free”. Eventually, on 25 January 2021, the song “Set Me Free” was picked.

On 18 May 2021, she performed 12th during the first semi-final, following Belgium and preceding Romania. She qualified to the final on 22 May. In addition to that, she broke the all-time record for the highest note in Eurovision history, hitting a B6 whistle note during the first semi-final of Eurovision 2021. In the final, she scored 93 points, finishing 17th out of 26.

Martin StenmarckFan FavouriteMartin Olof Jon Stenmarck is a Swedish singer. He represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 with the song 'Las Vegas', finishing 19th with 30 points.

Luxembourg has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 37 times since making its debut at the first contest in 1956. Between 1956 and 1993, Luxembourg missed only the 1959 contest. Luxembourg has not participated in the contest since its last participation in 1993. They have won the contest five times with only Ireland (seven) and Sweden (six) surpassing them.
Luxembourg’s first victory was in 1961, when Jean-Claude Pascal won with “Nous les amoureux”. France Gall then won in 1965 with “Poupée de cire, poupée de son”. Luxembourg achieved back-to-back victories in the early 1970s, with Vicky Leandros winning with “Après toi” in 1972 and Anne-Marie David with “Tu te reconnaîtras” in 1973. Luxembourg’s fifth victory was in 1983, when Corinne Hermes won with “Si la vie est cadeau”. After hosting the 1984 contest, Luxembourg struggled to make an impact, only reaching the top ten twice, with Sherisse Laurence third (1986) and Lara Fabian fourth (1988). Since being relegated from taking part in 1994, the country withdrew from the contest indefinitely.

Five years later, during the recording of her single La ville où je vis / Le blouson gris, the composer and producer Bernard Estardy heard her voice and offered her the leading female role in his upcoming musical comedy, 36 Front populaire, where she would have appeared alongside Julien Clerc.

In 1983, Corinne was selected internally by RTL to represent Luxembourg in the 28th Eurovision Song Contest, held in Munich, Germany. Her song, Si la vie est cadeau, composed by Jean-Pierre Millers and with lyrics from Alain Garcia, was performed last on the night and received 142 points, with maximum points from 6 competitors. This was enough to bring Luxembourg their fifth and final victory to date, with a slender margin of only 6 points over the runner-up, Israel’s Ofra Haza.

Jade EwenFan FavouriteJade Louise Ewen is a British singer, actress and a former member of the girl group Sugababes. In 2009 she sang for the United Kingdom, performing the Andrew Lloyd Webber/Diane Warren penned entry 'It's My Time'.

Belgium has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 63 times since making its debut as one of seven countries at the first contest in 1956. The only countries with more appearances are Germany (65), France (64) and the United Kingdom (64). Belgium have been absent only three times in total, in 1994, 1997 and 2001, due to low scores in the previous contests that relegated them from the contest. Belgium has won the contest once, in 1986.
In the first 20 years of the contest, Belgium’s best result was Tonia’s fourth place in 1966. In 1978, Jean Vallée achieved Belgium’s first top three placement, when he was second. Sandra Kim became the first and to date only winner for Belgium in 1986, when she won as a 13-year-old in Bergen, performing the song “J’aime la vie”. Belgium’s only other top three result came in 2003, when the group Urban Trad finished second in Riga, losing out by only two points. Belgium has finished last in the contest eight times, most recently in 2000, and has twice received nul points, in 1962 and 1965.
After the introduction of the semi-finals in 2004, Belgium failed to reach the final for five consecutive years (2005–09). Since 2010, Belgium has become more successful, qualifying for the final in seven out of twelve contests and placing in the top 10 four times, with Tom Dice sixth (2010), Loïc Nottet fourth (2015), Laura Tesoro tenth (2016), and Blanche fourth (2017).

Makiese took up singing from both of his parents (his mother also playing the tam-tam), starting in a church choir at a young age and later moving on to singing lessons at school, where he took part in, and won, a contest.

After being internally selected by broadcaster RTBF, he represented Belgium at the Eurovision Song Contest 2022 with the song “Miss You”.

DestinyFan FavouriteDestiny Chukunyere is a Maltese singer who won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2015. She won the second season of the Maltese version of The X Factor and was chosen to represent Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam with the song 'All of My Love'. That was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic and instead she took part in 2021 with the song 'Je me casse'

Iceland has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 34 times since its debut in 1986, missing only two contests since then, in 1998 and 2002, when prevented from competing due to finishing outside qualification places the preceding years.
The country’s best result is second place, which it achieved with Selma in 1999 and Yohanna in 2009. The Icelandic broadcaster for the contest is Ríkisútvarpið (RÚV), which also broadcasts Iceland’s national selection competition, Söngvakeppnin.
Iceland has achieved a total of seven top ten placements, with the others being Stjórnin finishing fourth (1990), Heart 2 Heart seventh (1992), Birgitta eighth (2003), Hatari tenth (2019) and Daði og Gagnamagnið fourth (2021).
Since the introduction of the semi-final round in 2004, Iceland has failed to qualify for the final seven times, including four years consecutively (2015–18). As of 2022, Iceland is the only Nordic country that is yet to win the contest.

She rose to domestic media prominence as the lead singer of pop band Írafár. Birgitta represented Iceland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2003 with the song “Open Your Heart”, tying in eighth place with the Spanish contestant Beth with 81 points.

She competed in the Icelandic pre-qualifying for the Eurovision Song Contest 2006, with the song “Mynd Af Þér” or “Picture of you” and, in a duo with Magni Ásgeirsson, reached the finals of the Icelandic qualifying for Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with the song, “Núna veit ég” but did not win.

In 2013, she once again tried her luck in Söngvakeppni. This time, her entry was called Meðal Andanna.

Anri JokhadzeFan FavouriteAnri Jokhadze is a Georgian pop singer from Tbilisi who represented Georgia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 with the song 'I'm a Joker'. The singer is a winner and laureate of 13 international contests.

The United Kingdom has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 64 times. It first took part in the second contest in 1957 and has entered every year since 1959. Along with Sweden and the Netherlands, the UK is one of only three countries with Eurovision victories in four different decades. It is one of the “Big Five” countries, along with France, Germany, Italy and Spain, that are automatically prequalified for the final each year as they are the biggest financial contributors to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU).
The British national broadcaster, the BBC, broadcasts the event and has, on multiple occasions, organised different national selection processes to choose the British entry. The United Kingdom has won the Eurovision Song Contest five times, and has finished as runner-up on a record sixteen occasions. The UK has hosted the contest a record eight times, four times in London (1960, 1963, 1968 and 1977) and once each in Edinburgh (1972), Brighton (1974), Harrogate (1982) and Birmingham (1998), and will host the contest for a ninth time in 2023 in Liverpool.

In 1994, French covered “Total Eclipse of the Heart”, a song originally made famous by Bonnie Tyler. The song reached number 5 during a three-month chart run on the UK Singles Chart, selling over 250,000 copies in the process and earning a silver sales award. In the United States, the song reached number 2, spending six months on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and gaining gold certification from the RIAA. The single also reached number 1 in a number of countries – Japan, Canada, Spain and Brazil – as well as charting in Australia, Germany, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, Denmark and Norway. French sold in excess of 5 million copies.

At the 2000 Eurovision Song Contest, French represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest with “Don’t Play That Song Again”. The song was selected by the British public ahead of seven other finalists on radio and TV. French finished the contest in 16th place. The track entered at number 34 in the UK chart.

They are most famous for their collaboration with DJ Balthazar, representing Bulgaria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with the song 'DJ, Take Me Away'.

TusseFan FavouriteToussaint Michael Chiza, better known as Tusse, is a Congolese-Swedish singer and Swedish Idol winner who represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with the song 'Voices'.

Latvia has participated in the contest 22 times since making its debut in 2000, where the group Brainstorm finished third with the song “My Star”. They won in 2002, with Marie N and the song “I Wanna”, defeating Malta by 12 points. Latvia is the second former Soviet country to win the contest. The 2003 contest was held in the Latvian capital Riga. The country achieved its third top 10 result in 2005, when Walters and Kazha finished fifth with “The War Is Not Over”.
Latvia did not participate in the final from 2009 to 2014, when they failed to qualify from the semi-finals for six consecutive years, including finishing last on three occasions, in 2009, 2010 and 2013. They qualified for the final for the first time since 2008 at the 2015 contest with Aminata and the song “Love Injected”. Her sixth place in the final is Latvia’s fourth top 10 finish and best result since 2005. Latvia made its 10th appearance in the final in 2016.
Latvia has the distinction of having finished last in the Eurovision semi-finals more than any other country. Since its introduction in 2004, Latvia has finished last in five semi-finals, with Intars Busulis (2009), Aisha (2010), PeR (2013), Triana Park (2017) and Samanta Tīna (2021).

They were best known for representing Latvia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 with the song “The War Is Not Over”, written by Mārtiņš Freimanis, finishing in fifth place with 153 points.

In 2009, Valters made a solo effort to represent Latvia with his song “For A Better Tomorrow” but failed to qualify from the semi-final. Two years later, the duo provided the Latvian commentary for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011. Valters was also Latvia’s spokesperson at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012.

On 17 October 2018, it was announced that Valters Frīdenbergs had died of a two-year long battle with cancer.

He was selected internally with the song 'Wake Up' written by Pierre Dumoulin, who previously wrote 'City Lights' for singer Blanche, and Eliot himself.

DiodatoFan FavouriteAntonio Diodato, known simply as Diodato, is an Italian singer-songwriter. He won the 70th edition of the Sanremo Music Festival with the song 'Fai rumore' and was scheduled to represent Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam before the event's cancellation due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Romania has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 22 times since its debut in 1994, and has placed in the top ten six times. Its best results were achieved by Luminița Anghel and Sistem in 2005, and by Paula Seling and Ovi in 2010, who both finished in third place. Selecția Națională, a song contest that has been taking place every year in Romania except for 2021, has been used to select the country’s entry for the Eurovision Song Contest.

In 1993, the year before its first appearance, Romania attempted to debut in the contest, but came last in the pre-qualifying round. After successfully joining the following year, poor placements followed until 2002, resulting in several relegations. This changed with the introduction of semi-finals to the contest in 2004, after which Romania reached the final 14 times, failing to qualify from the semi-finals in 2018, 2019 and 2021.

He won the second place at Interpretation section of the Mamaia National Festival 2003 with his own song, Vreau (“I Want”), and between 2004 and 2006 was named valedictorian of Star School organized by Romanian Television. Ovidiu represented Romania at the Golden Stag International Festival in 2005, and from 2008 until May 2012 he was the soloist of Pasager band with whom he performed hundreds of concerts and participated in Eurovision 2010 national selection. Along the same band, he won the second place at Rock section of the Mamaia National Festival 2011.

He was to represent Romania in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song “Moment of Silence”, but Romania was forced to withdraw from the contest beforehand due to a financial dispute with the European Broadcasting Union.

After being rejected several times in her efforts to represent Greece, Foureira represented Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 with the song “Fuego”. She was one of three ethnically Albanian competitors. Gjon's TearsAll StarGjon Muharremaj, known professionally as Gjon's Tears, is a Swiss singer and songwriter. He was scheduled to represent Switzerland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 prior to the event's cancellation. He was internally selected again as the country's representative for 2021 with 'Tout l'univers' and finished in third place.
