I believe music can change the world and make it a better place. But this can only happen through the people who make the music. Artists and bands have platforms and the message they deliver can make a difference. I have always wanted to get to know the humans behind the music, their way of thinking and discover the pieces that make them who they are. This podcast will enable me to share this with you.
Today I am taking you to Brazil thanks to my guest Guilherme Krol. He is an illustrator, a tattoo artist, a musician and of course, a rock fan.
Guilherme is a Thrice fan but not just a fan. He turned his passion for their music into art.
In the past years, he's been making artwork inspired by the lyrics of Thrice, his drawings were very welcomed and loved by the Thrice community .
He even got the attention of the band itself. So let's get to know Guilherme and hear his story..
Hi Friends ! This is Boushra & welcome to "Fan Stories" podcast. This is a series of conversations that I will be having with music fans. Now this is not something that was planned. I was actually inspired by the negativity I got when I tried to tell the story of a famous guitar player. As a rock fan who's been deprived growing up from listening to rock & metal, I felt that I was under-represented. I don't believe that rock is a place where we should make people feel like they're outsiders when they're trying to come in. In the past three years, I met so many people thanks to music. Some were artists, music industry professionals but most importantly, I met fans and EACH had a story to share, an art to express, a voice that has no place to be heard. And I want this podcast series to be the fans platform, a safe place with no judgement, to share our art, to have conversation, to raise awareness and ..to have more empathy towards other fans around the world. No matter what our differences are, no matter where we come from, no matter which band we love, in the end of the day..it is our passion for music that connects us.
My guest today is a long time Pantera fan., the 42-year old, Jamie has attended the last Damageplan show. He was in the crowd when the legend Dimebag Darrel was shot on stage.
I knew Jamie on Facebook and asked if he doesn't mind having a conversation with me about Dimebag and how it felt like to be there that day. And he was too kind to give me some of his free time on his daughter's bday to have this conversation that I am sharing with you today. I hope you enjoy this episode and lots of respect for Jamie for opening up to me about such a traumatic experience.
