I love Oleta Adams and her voice but when I first heard her sing that particular song: 'Everything must change,' I fell out of love. For some reason I just couldn’t come to terms with the lyrics of the song. Since the Covid lockdown saga etc., with the global reset, it has become more evident of how aversive I am to change; especially sudden change. Am I alone? Do you like or appreciate change? How well do you embrace it? Is ‘perspective’ a relevant companion to approaching situations of change?  Can an aversion to change show us up for wanting to be in control? Whatever could be the flipside of this Covid experience? Is there anything positive that could result from the current upheavals that we are facing? Do we have anything to cling to that is unchanging in this changing world?

I have heard so much talk about faith; sometimes it can be very confusing. What is it really? I have had faith in the fact that I would have a big house and marry a rich man and it didn’t happen, where did I go wrong? When we talk about faith, it is not the law of attraction and positive thinking. It is actually believing God for who He says He is. It is engaging in a trusting relationship with Him; knowing that He knows all things and is working out everything for His sovereign will, as He sees fit. He knows what must be accomplished in our lives and on the earth. Faith is not based on what we see, but accepting God’s promise to us, knowing that in time it will become a reality. At some point in our experience, we will also be tested, to see whether we will discard the promise and forfeit the blessing that God has promised, so guard your faith. Faith which is inherent trust in Him, pleases Him. When we act in faith, He responds in blessings.

What is so special about changing the way I think? Can that be right? Am I not free to think how I want, and live how I want? With the suggestion of conversion, it implies that there is something wrong with who I am and how I am. What’s wrong with my current mindset? Everything I am so far is what I have become through life’s experience, and I am comfortable with it? I have succeeded so far without this God thing! What’s the point? Does God not love me just as I am? Do I really have to change?

Isn’t ‘wisdom’ an old word? To be frank, I hardly hear anyone else using that word these days. It seems it’s only used by old folks who are all wrapped up in Jesus! What does it mean anyhow? Is it important? What if I get along in life, due to my intellectual knowledge and my charismatic prowess? I know what I know, isn’t that enough? Does wisdom have to be connected with having a relationship with God? The word says, ‘a fool says in his heart there is no God!’ Hope you are not one of those. In modern age, isn’t truth just relative and subjective? Surely the Absolute truth theory is outdated, right?

Do you have to make a choice? The impression to make choices only comes into play when we believe that we may be in danger of something, right? If you are comfortable in your current state, unless there’s imminent change that disrupts your life, there wouldn’t be a need to make an intentional effort of choice, right? What exactly is the choice between anyhow? Surely it isn’t that life threatening, or is it? Furthermore, do you have the power to choose anything right now? Yes, you can choose life.

Do you have 20/20 vision? Can you trust everything you see and hear around you and take it at face value? Is there safety in putting your trust in man, rulers, princes, politicians, etc.? Is there a greater force at work with a sinister agenda that is out to destroy mankind? Is there proof of this? What if I don’t believe, would I still be impacted? Can I avoid being deceived? Yes! That’s why we were warned not to be! What’s my responsibility in waking up? Is there a God element?

Adding perspective to a negative situation will always result in a positive solution. Perspective is God's viewpoint. As it's not natural for us to think like Him, we have to go to the Bible to find what it says regarding the situation that presents before us. Like an equation, negative situation + perspective = positive solution. Can you imagine the situation without perspective, brings further trouble and stress. Be transformed by renewing your mind!

Covid Comforts is to give you hope in this time of change and chaos. Despite the issues that may present, there is always hope on the flip side. Hope comes through knowing Christ who came into the world to show us how deeply we are loved by God our Father and gives us an opportunity to reconnect with our spiritual legacy.  We had lost our way, but the invitation is for us to be reconciled in a loving relationship of faith with our Creator and live eternally with Him in the new world. On this path are many trials, tests and disappointments; pain, loss and grief confronts us but even in the midst of these bleak encounters there is hope. If we stop and open up our eyes of faith we will see the true reality, there is a brighter day coming and the soon return of King Jesus will make all the difference.
