Cross Church is a community of faith that loves God and loves People. Located in Denton, Texas it is our mission to impact our community for Jesus Christ. Our call is simple: Reach, Connect and Grow believers to a new level of relationship with God. Before Jesus ever sent anyone out, He called them to come and be with Him.
In Week 2 of The Way, Pastor Vincent Silmon opens Mark 3 and points to
something easy to miss: Jesus went up the mountain, called the ones He
wanted, and they came to Him. The sending came second. As Pastor Vincent
put it, our first calling is to be with Jesus.
From there we walk into John 15 and the picture of the vine and the
branches, where fruit is not something we manufacture but something that
grows out of staying connected. Then we sit down in Luke 10 with two
sisters: one busy in the kitchen doing good work, one on the floor at
His feet. Only one of them was told she had found the thing that could
not be taken from her.
Jesus desires a life shared with us. So the question this week is a
simple one and a hard one:

Pastor Vincent Silmon brings Week 8 of Unashamed, walking through Romans 13:8-14.
Paul says love is the one debt you never finish paying. He also says the clock is running. The night is almost gone, the day of salvation is nearer now than when we first believed, and the way you live should look like you know it.
The greatest evidence that Jesus lives in you is not what you know, but how you love. An unashamed life doesn't delay obedience. It lives like the time is now.

Pastor Vincent continues the Unashamed series at Cross Church Denton with a message from Romans 12:1-8 titled "Unashamed to Be Different."
For the first eleven chapters of Romans, Paul focuses on everything God has done for us through Jesus Christ. We have been justified, sanctified, and made righteous. We no longer have to live in condemnation because we have been set free from sin. But in Romans 12, Paul makes a shift. The focus moves from what Jesus has done to how we respond to it. Because it is not enough just to know it.
All of us want to fit in. On some level we all seek approval and want to be accepted. But as followers of Jesus Christ, we were never meant to fit in.
In this message:
Surrender is our grateful response to God's mercy and it is our greatest act of worship. You cannot be different unless you first learn to let go.
A living sacrifice is a life fully surrendered to God, giving Him complete control, every day choosing to say: Lord, my plans, my family, my career, my money, my body, my future, my entire life belongs to you.
What shapes your mind will ultimately shape your life. Do not copy the behaviors and customs of the world. Ask yourself: is your Bible shaping your thoughts, or your social media feed? Is it your prayer life, or your politics? Is it contentment, or comparison?
Transformation is not instant. It is a process that began the day you gave your life to Christ and does not end until you are transfigured into life eternal.
It is good to know who you are, but do not forget whose you are. When it comes to how we see ourselves, we fall into two ditches: pride and insecurity. They look like opposites, but both are rooted in the same problem. Both are self-focused. When we know whose we are, we no longer have to prove who we are.
God did not save us to leave us sitting on the sideline. You were not saved to be a consumer. You were saved to be a contributor. In faith, there is no bench. Every part of the body has a purpose and a role, and serving is one of the true markers of transformation.

If you have been forgiven, why do you still feel condemned?
In week 5 of Unashamed, Pastor Melissa opens Romans 8 and shows us the life the Holy Spirit makes possible. This is where Paul shifts from what Christ has done FOR us to what God is now doing IN us. The invitation is simple and hard at the same time: stop striving to earn a verdict God has already given, and start living from it.
Here is the truth that anchors the whole message: you cannot live unashamed while you are still living defeated.

When Jesus was born, he was called the “King of the Jews,” but his kingdom was not
limited to Israel. Wise Men from other countries and cultures came to worship this new king
because he was king for all people. We all can come to him with our gifts and our worship and
we can invite all people to join us.
To understand the story of Christmas, we have to understand the story of Israel. God
chose the people of Israel, but they failed to follow him well, so God promised a coming king
who would have all the same attributes of God and would lead them into peace, justice, and
righteousness. Just like they hoped for this perfect king, we are hoping for a king that leads us
into peace, justice, and righteousness as well.
This Sunday, Pastor Vincent teaches about dealing with loneliness. As we read in Ecclesiastes 4:7-12, we see that nothing good comes from isolation. In fact, life's meaning can be found in community.
Pastor Vincent continues teaching from Ecclesiastes in his, "What Matters Most" series. We are reminded, in chapter 3, that change is inevitable. As christ followers, we can embrace change, and find joy through Christ.
This Sunday we took a deep dive into our ongoing series, "Money Matters." Four Cross Church members joined Pastor TJ Pancake to answer questions about God & money.
This week PV picks up in Ecclesiastes 2:1-11. We are faced with a simple, weighty truth. Life's pursuits lead to disappointment. But, when we allow ourselves to be course corrected into God's will, we find fulfillment.
No matter how much we accomplish, it seems like we’re still chasing fulfillment in life. We see just that in the writings of King Solomon through the book of Ecclesiastes. Pastor Vincent teaches through the book of Ecclesiastes with the lens of victory in Jesus Christ.
To play our own game we need to know ourselves and keep our eyes on the finish line. This week Pastor Vincent teaches from 2 Chronicles 14 about King Asa's success following God in this way.

In our ongoing Money Matters series, TJ taught about the bondage that financial debt puts us in and that God desires us to live in freedom. TJ provided some practical and Biblical points on how to avoid debt and live free: 1) Pay Your Debt, 2) Lend Generously, and 3) Experience Forgiveness. Finally, he reminds us how Jesus paid the ultimate debt of sin on the cross for us.
Pastor Vincent launched our Game Plan series with a powerful message on The Fundamentals. When considering God’s plan for our lives, it’s natural to focus on the big-picture — the calling, dreams, and successes we hope to achieve. However, before we can step into those moments, we must first master the essential fundamentals that form the foundation of His plan. Drawing from the story of Saul in Acts 9, we explored the fundamental choices each of us must make to align with God’s will and our purpose.
In week 5 of our We Are ONE series, Pastor Vincent preached on the importance of growing in our relationship with Jesus and other believers. Have you thought about your growth? Growth is the process of abiding with Jesus through his word, prayer, and fellowship with others. We all need to grow in some area of our lives.
In this week's message from our WE ARE ONE series, Pastor Vincent preaches on the importance of serving in the community of believers. If our goal is to be like Jesus then we must serve out of humility, obedience, sacrifice, love, and Joy as Jesus did.

We were created to live in loving relationships with God and others. It's through those relationships that we find support, encouragement, fellowship, and spiritual growth.
In our new sermon series, PV speaks to us about unity. In week 1, we learned that God desires us to live as ONE authentic Christ-centered community. Oneness is not about sameness. Division threatens oneness but unity is the thread of oneness.

In week 6, Joy teaches us about what joy is. She shows us that the source of true joy comes from the Holy Spirit. There will be obstacles that distract us from joy but we can take practical steps to cultivate joy, She also mentions how the example of Jesus helps us. We can have joy in community when we share joy with others.
In week 5, PV teaches us that life is full of challenges, and there will often be times when we feel discouraged. God gives us the strength to press forward even when we struggle. We learn that sadness is a healthy emotion that prompts us to trust God. Even though sadness can be overwhelming, it is never absent of joy. We can always have joy because of Jesus.
In week 4, TJ teaches us that when God is in charge, fear is not. In order to keep fear in its place, we should remember that God is the ultimate power, God loves you, and God has already won.
In week 3, PV teaches us that when we are in the midst of our deepest anxiety and despair, God meets us with His provision, presence, and plan. Scripture reminds us that God provides in our anxiety, God is present in our anxiety, and God has a purpose, and plan beyond anxiety.
In week 2, PV teaches us that envy can corrupt our hearts and lead to destructive actions, but recognizing and overcoming it can transform our relationships and align us with God's purpose. We first learn that envy is dangerous. We can overcome envy by admitting and confronting feelings of envy, cultivating a heart of thankfulness, replacing envy with love, and believing in God's unique plan for us.
For our Father's Day Sermon, PV spoke to us from Genesis 22 about Abraham and a father's sacrifice.
In our new sermon series, PV speaks to us about overcoming anger. In week 1, we learned that anger can lead to devastating consequences, but God offers us a way to master it and choose a path of righteousness. In order to overcome anger we need to get to the root, stay in control, and deal with it.
In the 2nd sermon of our Money Matters series, TJ speaks to us about how having less is more in this life. He says that this life is supposed to be more about having less stuff and striving and having more contentment and Jesus in our lives.
In our final week of Godfidence, PV closes with the topic of Faith That Wins. He says that Godfidence empowers us to overcome obstacles, endure hardship, and patiently await the results.

He says that we must be ONE fully devoted follower of Jesus, and that we will reach the world by reaching ONE person for Jesus at a time. We are ONE church connected in Jesus.
Week 3 of our Spiritual Health Check sermon series is about hearing God's voice. God is talking, but hearing Him requires effort. PV says that in order to properly hear from God we must step away from distraction, go where He is and see what He is doing. Most importantly, we must be ready to listen to what God is saying.
