In this episode, PhD candidate Lanabi La Lova will share her insights on Russian Media and Society, in light of deteriorating economic conditions and increasing repression in Russia, as well as the limited, but persistent protests in many cities across the country. We discuss pre-existing conditions and any potential shifts in attitudes following Vladimir Putin’s decision to invade Ukraine, including the possibility of rising domestic contestation.

This episode of Grimshaw Speakers is in honour of LGBT+ Pride History Month. In this conversation, Vandana Venkataraman, a 2nd-year IR student, interviewed David Eichert- a current PhD student at LSE’s Department of International Relations. They discussed the the main themes within queer international relations, the influence of history in postcolonial institutions and queer identities and the future of gender studies within IR and the individuals who pursue it.

He will be explaining both the long-standing issues that have led to the unprecedented protests in Kazakhstan and what we might expect next in the Central Asian country after the demonstrations have been brutally repressed.
