In May 2021 Ian Rivers will embark on a solo unsupported row across the North Atlantic from New York to the Isles of Scilly. Using only a sextant as the main form of navigation, this 3,100 nautical mile crossing will test human endurance, navigation and seamanship to the absolute limit. Nobody has yet completed an unsupported solo from New York.

Today I talk with a very inspiring individual, Kirk Bowett. Kirk has a very powerful story to tell and this is a brief overview, we could have chatted for hours! Kirk served in the Armed Forces before becoming a close protection operator. We speak about the next generation and the term snowflake, his mental health, how we are all getting on during the lockdown and his new role as a survival instructor.
