Although the name of God is never mentioned in the book of Esther, we can see that He was leading in her story. Sometimes are there people in our lives who it doesn't appear that God is working...but we need to be patient, have compassion, and show them love. Let's talk about that today.

Contributor: Diane shares her story with us as a new Christian, coming to church and not looking like everyone else. Let’s just say it wasn’t a pleasant experience, yet God spoke to her and helped to HER to be the difference in that church!

The Shunammite woman was hospitable, there is no doubt about that! She saw a way that she could be a blessing to Prophet Elisha and she poured her time, energy, and resources into building a room, just for him! In return for her kindness, Prophet Elisha said that within a year, she would hold a baby boy. Sure enough... it came true. But just a few years later, her son is dead. Yet even in her distress, she is able to say, "It Is Well." What led her to be able to say those three words of faith? Join us today as we talk and discuss this incredible Bible story!

Contributor: Karen Nicola shares with us a dark time in her life when her 3 year old son died of leukemia. She expected to see or feel God right there with her beside his hospital bed, but everything was silent. It wasn't until later, that she was able to look back and see how God had led. We all have challenges. We all get discouraged. We all, at some point, experience the feeling we’re the only ones doing all the work. Yet the question lingers: “What are you doing here?” Are we following God’s leading, or are we running the other way? Are we doing what God has asked or are we focused so much on the problems, we’ve lost sight of God?

This week we talk about hospitality. Showing kindness to others in our home! Feeding them, fellowshiping with them. We have a beautiful example of the widow who put all on the line to feed Prophet Elijah! So often we are afraid to invite people to our own houses because they don't look nice, or we don't have special food, or some other insecurity. But people are craving connection, it doesn't matter what our homes look like or even what we serve for lunch, if we are warm and loving, that's what people will remember.

This week we hear from one mom and grandma who has learned that there may not be much to eat, it may not be fancy, your home might not be ideal for hosting, but all is overlooked when seeing the joy that people feel in being included. The fellowship with one another, makes up for everything that might be lacking. You will want to get a pen/paper to write down some tips that will be shared to make hospitality easier.

Tips for Hosting
1. “Last Minute Invitation” If I’m feeling like I can’t plan ahead and I’m not sure if I’m up to having company or not, I make extra food for Sabbath lunch. Then I go to church and pray and see who God impresses me to invite over. I find it easier and less stressful ahead of time as I don’t know if I’ll have company or not.

  1. “Plan Ahead Invitation” I plan ahead and call up people and invite them. When inviting ahead, I see who the Lord puts on my mind. I like to invite people that I don’t know very well, or people who have just joined/transferred in to our church. Then I like to invite others who I think they might connect with.

  2. “Plan for Guests/Visitors Invitation” I usually will have one or two couples help me plan a meal and bring food to my house. I usually invite guests or if no guests come, I will ask other church members.

Have you ever made a plan that was then changed? Our story from the life of King David is not a pretty one. In fact, it can be downright discouraging, but there is hope. Come along with us on this episode of Reflect and Renew and learn how David learns a lesson about what happens when we do not stay plugged into God and let Him take control of our plans.

Contributor: Our guest contributor, Janell, shares with us the challenge of helping her little one practice the violin. Her daughter isn’t the only one practicing. Janell also gets daily practice in learning to adjust and adapt her own expectations. Can you relate?

What do you think of when you think of the word “Despise?” That is the word that the Bible uses to describe Michal’s feelings towards David. She saw him dancing before the Lord and she despised him! There are times when we despise someone, when we have bitterness towards another person, when all the hurt and anger is like a thick blanket, suffocating us. What is the answer? We’ll find out in just a minute!

Contributor: This week we will hear from Christy, who shares with us a story about a stressful experience she had as a young adult with a difficult boss. It wasn’t until she turned to God in prayer that He showed her a beautiful lesson of forgiveness.

Have you ever been in a tough situation with a leader in your life? Maybe a pastor, a boss, or even a spouse. It’s common for us to not agree, but the BIG question is, how do we respond during times of disagreement? This week we are going to look at the life of David and who he turned to for help.

This week, our guest contributor is a mom, a grandma, and a wife who works beside her husband in ministry. Amie Hubbard will share with us that lessons that stood out to her this week as well as another story from the life of David when he DIDN’T respond in a Christ-like way.
