In this episode, Josh recounts the insights he gleaned from his days at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco, and how each class was designed as a personal therapeutic session for the students. He talks about his love for Carl Rogers, who believed that all people should be treated with unconditional positive regard, that everyone has the potential for kindness. Josh also provides some insight into the anxiety that many people felt during the pandemic after being forced to stay inside, unplugged from in-person social connections, and how they got to see their mind, up close and personal, perhaps for the very first time.

In this episode, Josh describes how energy from a traumatic experience — which he defines as any heightened, overwhelming experience — is stored in the body, and how it can be gently released in a safe therapeutic setting. He also talks about how when we give ourselves the same love and grace we’d give to a friend, we can expand our compassion, awareness, and acceptance not just for ourselves but for others and for the world around us.
